White Plumage

The juniper opening projects you in to a melancholic, cold state of mind. It is not gothic, but cold and somber, yet also vibrant and vividly green. The incense is a surprise: you should expect it to be cool, eclessiastic and moody, specially if juxtaposed with the juniper and aloe green component. But instead it comes forth as creamy, comforting and elegant. Superbely good. A most touching duality is created between the smoky incense dimension and the green one. The expirence is elevated through the heart of white flowers, they are suave and the coffe note quite earthy...the incense opens even more to a creamy consistency, thanks to the milk and woody notes. Is this a sacred ritual in a cool, damp forest? Is this a person watching in awe the the white plumage of swan bathing? It is an experience, not simply a fragrance. A foggy experience. In Francesca dell'Oro style. The concrete character would be: creamy, smoky, powdery, balsamic, green and piney, earthy and smooth. Lightly musky, lightly spicy.

Very rarely a perfume creates emotions like White Plumage did with me. This is for me the ultimate oriental, unlike all orientals I have ever tried. It is not unisex, masculine, unwearable, stuffy, oud-laden, animalic, suffocating. It was made by a woman with other women in mind. It smells ethereal, yet woody and incencey in the most outwordly way. It is as if the most feminine elements of Feminite du Bois, Un Air du Desert Maroccain , Cavalli's Oro and Luten's Fille en Aiguilles were combined to create a cloud of a scent appropriate for angels. Note wise, I get an aromatic juniper in the opening, followed by mild olibanum, cedar, black pepper and other spicy notes (very polite) that I cannot distinguish. Its overall projection is moderate, this is a fluffy cloud that enhances your presence l, it doesn't announce you. Amazing and full bottle worthy. Edited to add: unfortunately the drydown doesn't hold a candle to the majestic opening and middle notes. It smells herbal, kind of like dried oregano and thyme :/

I wanted to love this so badly. The notes looked amazing, and in my head it was an intoxicating concoction of florals and coffee, pine and incense. So lesson learned, I need to stop imagining what things smell like before I get the bottle, because I am almost always disappointed, as was the case with this. White Plumage smells distinctly male to me - like a fresh pine soap with a smack of musk and aloe for manly moisturizing power. I cannot get over the sharp medicinal smell of the juniper, which stands out on my skin and smothers everything else. Something about it smells clinical, nothing like the cozy hug lauded in some reviews below. It borders on nauseatingly fresh and spicy for me. I've tried it a half dozen times, and I always come to the same conclusion. Soapy, piney male aftershave. It's a nice perfume, and I do like it, just not on me. I'll make my husband try it and see if I change my mind. Edit: I'm selling my bottle, PM me if interested!

Smoky and sweet incense, very feminine in it's milkiness. "White Plumage" wrapped me like a warm blanket and took me to a happy place. For this reason alone, this is so far the best from Francesca dell Oro. Unfortunately it doesn't last as long as I hoped for - only 4 hours for me with a very close to skin sillage. For this I wouldn't justify a FB, but nevertheless - if longevity is not an issue for you and you want an incense that's soft, feminine and extremely cozy - seek the sample of "White Plumage".

Smoky incense softened and rounded by musk and milk...very pleasant, unisex but more on the feminine side..well done!

No cardamom but has that cool freshness. Cafe au lait, mild incense and wood. Musk is under control but contributes to the cafe au lait vibe. Not for me as it serms to just sit on my skin without developing. V reviving scent

I expected it to be unisex. That's how masculine I think it smells. It's strongly woody and quite spicy. Wood and musk are the most dominant notes. Too masculine for my taste, I am not impressed.

The scent is very synthetic smelling. I get the aloe vera and incense, some pine like note, but the drydown is synthetic and nose burning. Whatever musk and woody like notes they put here, it combined smells almost like gasoline. Gasoline. Not for me. I pass.

I waited an entire year to purchase a full bottle of white plamage and finally decided am not gonna wait any longer!😅 I don't own anything quite like this😍 i can pick up incense as well as star anise a very unique scent indeed💜

What an intriguing list of notes! I don't think I ever heard of anything similar. Oh, how I'd like to try this.
