Bamboo Men

*I must preface this by saying: yes, the juice does leak from the atomizer so the bottle although nicely designed, is of very poor quality. In the first week Of owning this, I already lost half the juice! I would suggest decanting this right away* In a nutshell, this is a toned down Sauvage with nuances of the EDP & cool spray editions. It does everything sauvage does but in a softer more mature way. Bamboo takes the best part of sauvage (the opening-mid) and makes that the focal point of what you smell from beginning to end. It’s takes the warmth of the EDP & places that in the background. Finally the citrusy aspects of cool spray are bought into play here & lasts all throughout the duration of the fragrance keeping it nice and fresh. The annoying ambroxan note everyone hates is replaced by earthier notes such as patchouli/vetiver/oakmoss, making this more wearable & less “noisy” so-to-speak. The citrus notes in this one replace the sharp lime sauvage had. The heavy anise/vanilla notes from the EDP are replaced by a light amber note. They all blend in well with one another. A linear fragrance for the most part, but this in my opinion is why I find it better than sauvage. I found that after an hour of wearing sauvage it loses its sexy “zing” and turns nauseating. I find myself wanting to scrub it off at the point. Projection is quieter but longevity is on point. This is much more pleasant & wearable. To put it another way: sauvage was OK, but Bamboo is amazing! Definitely recommend.

Bamboo is a woody aromatic fragrance from the house of Franck Olivier with the opening notes of mandarin orange, bergamot and lemon while the heart is all about the floral notes of geranium and lavender while the dry down projects amber, patchouli, oakmoss and vetiver at most. Bottle looks really very nice and the price is also quite good. This one reminds me of Dior Sauvage but still a sexy yet classy fragrance.

Smells just like Dior Sauvage and it's got good longevity and sillage. If you are looking for a really good Dior Sauvage alternative then pick this one up, you will love it. I definitely rate this one highly.

I saw this one from the designer's page and decided to give it a shot. They're always pretty decently priced and the bottle looks nice. I was expecting something like Kenzo pour Homme by Kenzo, but this is a closer one to Dior Sauvage. There is a blast of patchouli and citrus in the initial spray and it permeates quite well in the first 15 minutes. It dies down quite quickly and comes closer to the skin with the strength it starts with. The dry down projection still remains well after an hour. The vetiver and amber remain after the middle notes make their arrival and leave. Overall, the scent lasted about 4 to 5 hours on my skin, but the price can allow you to respray. Not a bad cheapy that imitates Sauvage, but if you want more power and longevity I would most certainly suggest getting the real thing. Not a bad blind buy! A 6/10 for me! Cheers!

I got this to have my fix of Prada Luna Rossa Carbon and I'm not disappointed. It's my 'workout' fragrance, very relaxing, smells clean and nice but also reacts well to sweat. And it's dirty cheap. But it's not as well blended as LRC so beware.

Bamboo Men. First of all, my bottle slightly leaks from the collar. If first impressions count... although, I have to say, the bottle is gorgeous looking (and the cap kinda trash - don't try to lift is from the cap). I immediately get a strong, screeching splash of citruses with heavy minty/balsamic vibe - just to discover there is no trace of mint or eucalyptus in the breakdown. I think this is the geranium, which (based on the cultivar) can have a strong minty/lemony facet. Overall, I would say it gives off some metallic vibes. It's definitely refreshing, but too loud and harsh for my liking. Once the opening settles a little (10 minutes?), I get some sweetness from the base, straigh up front - but it's not the heavy ambroxan/amberwood kind of sweetness which I don't particularly like, à la Bleu de Chanel EDP; more a muted sweetness that tries (unsuccessfully) to remove some of the edges to that minty/citrusy accord that just pierces my brain. Together with it, I also get, for a good 15 minutes, a very unpleasant background note of cat's urine, which luckily goes away pretty soon and doesn't show up again. It's weird that I get some whiff, also, of a very pleasant something I can't pin down - it fades too quickly, it doesn't last in my olfactory memory. Anyway, the scent is very linear, I basically get the same notes start to finish, and this juice lasts: I sprayed this on at 10am, and still smelling it distinctively now at 11.30pm, with a significant projection for most of its life. Unfortunately, I don't particular like it. On the tester strip, it has a greener side to it that I like more, and the screeching side much less pronounced - maybe it just doesn't work too well with my skin. The only thing I can relate to a batch code is what I found on the side, printed black over dark blue: 17/05/007745/10, without any match on CheckFresh.
