Sun Java Intense

I feel compelled to write my first review here on what is one of my cheapest purchases (not that I own anything niche quality), but strangely most satisfying so far. This perfume was a blind buy and my first from the offerings of Franck Olivier. I had no idea what to expect when I opened this, but it was without a doubt love at first spray. Others have commented on the notes that accompany this fragrance accurately, but I have to take this somewhere else. It is such a nostalgic scent for me, that takes me back to my childhood. I let others in my household smell this and they agreed that it was a pleasantly familiar smell. This is what perfumery is about, taking you somewhere through the power of scent. For the price, Sun Java Intense is a no brainer. A safe, versatile blind buy with great performance and the potential to be one of your favourites, even in a sizeable collection.

Now this is a budget fragrance done correctly! Fresh fruity (albeit slightly synthetic) opening, with some green notes playing support, mids give way to rose, pepper, and light incense, beautiful rich base notes: golden amber, tobacco and creamy cedar goodness. Well above average longevity, this frag seems to be one of the most versatile that I have tried in recent memory. I can see this being just as suitable in a polo shirt on an August afternoon as a button down and tie at dinner in October or November. Maybe avoid the extreme cold. Unisex leaning masculine. Very comforting scent, I far prefer this to Nikos Sculpture which I see it being compared to. 8.75/10

To me this is a hidden gem as not many frag heads have or use Franck Olivier colognes. This is one of those that is extremely versatile all season any place. On my skin it has good performance 7+ hours and projects 2-3 hours at an arms length or more. It starts out similar to Eros, but that is it. The pepper and tobacco make it a little more towards the mature audience but younger guys can surely rock this due to the sweetness but it’s not over done. I would recommend it as a blind buy, as you can see from this page it is not well known, you will have something similar but also different. I always get compliments when I wear this.

This is the safest blind buy in my collection. Not because it has no depth or complexity - but because it's good for all seasons, all situations, and all genders. BIG minty citrus opening. I love it - very invigorating and not at all sharp or nauseating. These linger surprisingly longer than expected as the pepper, woods, and tobacco emerge to give this fragrance wonderful depth. Excellent sillage and longevity. This should be hyped much more by online reviewers.

Spent some more time with this since my initial review, I've also picked up a bottle of YSL l'Homme Ultime in between. This definitely seems like it shares strong similarities with l'Homme Ultime. The ginger note is not present, but the citrus, and rose, and cedar are very similar. I wouldn't call this a clone, but definitely a cousin.

After using it for a day. Longevity is there until I showered some 12 hrs later. It was a skin scent by that point but the sillage was strong for about 6 hrs which I thought was impressive for a ~$20 fragrance. My partner likes it too. I think this would be a good fresh scent for most.

This smells like a bag of Skittles and a pack of Starburst! On me the sillage, projection and longevity are extreme. The only fragrance that I have that performs better is Kerosene Followed. I get many compliments wearing this.

Just got this. Summer vibes, mall fragrance designer style. Sweet, soapy, fruity, with some woodiness to help it along. Gym/office safe. Killer deal.

#1111 in my "Tour de Fragrance" Just got a bottle of this. I've had good luck overall with Franck Olivier scents, especially the EDPs. "Sun Royal Oud" is not in the database but I much prefer it over this, though this is still a nice fresh scent. Puts me in mind of some EDTs I liked a lot except for their potency. The Dunhill "Desire" line. Lanvin "Homme" and "Eclat d'Arpege." Boucheron "Quatre." Aigner "No 1 Platinum." Carolina Herrera "212 Men." Like all the Olivier EDPs this is a moderate performer you may wish to overspray, but at this price you can afford to use it up quickly. Strong top notes, weak base notes, the opposite of what we usually experience. I think it's fine for any environment. Not sexy at all, but a fresh from the shower vibe. And at $25 I have no complaints.

I get a sweet citrusy mashup that is VERY synthetic with a hint of mint up top. There’s also musky undertone that makes it manly. It has about 6-8hrs of projection which is great. However, I don't wear it very often because it has a weird funky chemical undertone. I recently got the original sun java thinking that unpleasant undertone was the tobacco. Well, no. It's still there but I noticed this has a "dirt" note which is probably the tobacco. The original doesn't. However they're still 97% the same and basically indistinguishable. The intense lasts twice as long though.

This is my 2nd Frank Olivier perfume. My first was Oud Vanille, and it was such a great find, so I thought I would give the brand another try. Fortunately, this turned out to be another great offering to be added to my collection. I agree with many of the previous reviews here. This is a very safe and versatile perfume. Fresh scent with layers of depth. Uplifting without being one-dimentional and boring. Very well-balanced. (Not much) money well spent!

Invigorating citrus and mint supported by tobacco, amber, and cedar... This is really nice! I'm not sure how I came across this, perhaps from browsing this site, but I'm surprised I haven't heard anything from the fragrance YouTubers about it. Dirt cheap and good for casual occasions in mild to warm weather.

It's ok, it reminds me of a synthetic Uden without the powdery notes. Personally would I buy it again, no but that's simply because it's not my particular scent profile. Too sweet, too in your face, but nonetheless a pleasant scent and for the price I would gamble on it especially if you like Uden. The performance is crazy and does project hard so go easy on sprays. BTW it is NOT a clone of Uden, it's like a 2nd cousin, it's actually closer in scent profile to Lafayette street by Bond #9. .

i am shock there are so many good reviews. I just gave this one away. smelled weird.
