Passion Boisee

I obtained a sample of this and wore it as my scent of the day yesterday. It is a wonderful fragrance. It is a bit sweet and boozy in the opening with a touch of spiciness supported by a woody base as it dries down. It smells amazing to my nose, however, I find that the performance is somewhat lacking on my skin. I got about 4.5 hours of longevity before it was a complete skin scent and I refreshed to experience the opening again, which is beautiful. By the time I got home from work, I couldn't detect it at all, even though I had refreshed about half way through my day. Normally, I scoff at people who complain about a fragrance performance because the ones most complained about, for example, D&G The One EDP, seem to last forever on my skin but unfortunately, that was not the case with Passion Boisee. Smell : 9/10 Longevity : 5/10. I would expect a fragrance with this price point to last much longer than it did. Projection : 5/10. I projected pretty well for the first couple of hours but then settled down to a skin scent that was barely detectable, even to myself. Sillage : 4/10. There was a nice sillage for the first hour or so but it quickly faded as well. Overall : 6/10 Final thoughts ... I'm going to try this fragrance again in the warmer months to see if it performs better when there's some heat. I live in Canada and it was quite cold here yesterday (-15C) and perhaps that affected the fragrance in a negative way. I really, really love the way this smells, though and I'm willing to give it another chance with the hopes that it does better.

The opening of Passion Boisee is fantastic. I get prominent orange, clove, rum and leather, the combination of which creates an extremely intriguing fuel-like (turpentine?) vibe thats addicting and beautiful. It grabs your attention but eventually once it dries down it becomes a little underwhelming. The dry down picks up a little bit of a declaration vibe, with natural, bright citrus, smooth woods and dry, slightly-dirty spice (primarily clove). At first I was worried the clove would take over but it's actually blended so well that It never smells overly mature or needlessly powerful. The opening has a very modern flare to it but as it dries down it becomes much more classic and pleasing. I think Passion Boisee is very, very good but I can't say it's mind blowing. Its a unique, well-blended fragrance with a lot of character and an interesting blend of modernity and tradition. It lasts around 4 hours on me and it doesn't project too much. Very nice outing from Frapin that has me interested to try more from the line. 7/10

Wow! I picked this bottle up for $60 shipped, and couldnt be more thrilled. Its a mix of a few fragrances I have experience with. 1. A more refined, less earthy, sweeter Terre d'Hermes that wears lighter. Not like TdH Eau Tres Fraiche, thats a geranium bomb. 2. Take the leather note from Bentley for Men Intense 3. The boozy sweet oak from Serge Lutens Chene. These are all blended together flawlessly in this masterful concoction appropriate for any occasion other than black tie. This is an amazing fragrance that does not smell like a harsh cleaning product. Some reviewers on here need to experience more fragrances and notes before writing reviews.

A gorgeous masculine woody chypre, this starts off with a tangerine and rum blast as if you were drinking a tropical cocktail. As it begins to settle woody spicy notes of cedar, clove, nutmeg and oak. Upon complete settling a chypre base of oakmoss, leather and patchouli is revealed. This is a bright, radiant with moderate to strong projection, sillage and good longevity. Another classy easy reach offering from this house. Enjoy!

I really like it. Like many others before me, The opening is turpentine like that only last for less than a minute, after that the fragrance turns into a fresh spicy chypre. There is a good dose of a rum/liquor accord. after the fresh opening it goes into a woody mostly cedar tangerine and leather, I smell cloves up to the end. The performance and projection is excellent. Definitely a keeper.

I love this scent. The tangerine-rum-woods combination is spectacular. I usually detest clove, but even this ingredient just meshes so well. This is definitely a must buy once I finish off this sample

Like the last reviewer, it wasn't love at first sniff but it has been my most worn Frapin fragrance from the five I own. Love that tangerine note that lingers through the life of the fragrance.

I get oak and cedar more than anything, the orange and rum are there but it’s very faint, with that said I enjoy this fragrance once it hits the dry down, this is a very woody fragrance!

I agree with Landshark321 here. The note table here is what you get so as a rarity the note table is accurate. I agree with most reviews that whilst not exactly common it’s not special per se. It’s a safe office scent if you want to be different with out offending. Unfortunately this to me does not justify the outlay especially considering it’s a relative poor performance for its category (I literally had to spray double what I normally would to get a dry down that gave good depth) and whilst the tangerine and rum were hooks for me to blind buy the reality is it’s unique construction combined on the dry down borderline flits between reminding me of grandmas old perfumes, spilled orange cordial or that I may have dried citrus rind in my pocket. Mostly because the light woody base accentuates the sweetness making it fairly feminine and light. A shame, I’ve tried a number of Frapin scents but the only one to live up to the hype is Speakeasy. If memory serves this was designed to be inspired by the Cognac region where this originated. I get the attempt but it feels half hearted. I’d rather (and have) spend more for Parfum De Marly Ispazon, Layton, Oajan or any number of vaguely similar scents that know what they want to be and set out to just do it...

Frapin Passion Boisee opens with some bite, a citrus burst anchored by spices and woods. It feels somewhat classic, masculine, and reasonably formal. After the initial citrus/mint/menthol burst fades, the connection becomes clear: it reminds me of Creed Spice and Wood, is a more provocative version to the relatively smooth and easy-to-wear Spice and Wood. There's some vague spiciness via the nutmeg and clove, and it's spicier than Spice and Wood throughout its life. It mainly has the citrus/woody pairing, though, of tangerine and cedar, that make it a semi-fresh, year-round friendly option that's not likely not overwhelm even in hotter months. Even though it immediately strikes me as a work scent--not so casual but still not so daring or sensual--Passion Boisee is reasonably versatile as far as situation and certainly season, as it's not a superlative performer, nor is it particular loud after its brief opening (less than a half hour). For most of its lifetime, it's unobtrusive enough to be "office-safe," as some say. 7 out of 10

The opening makes it feel very much like a missing sibling of Cartier's Déclaration : that same fresh, spicy-citrusy-woody DNA is immediately recognizable. But Passion Boisée feels smoother, warmer, and more rounded — with a gentle cognac undertone replacing Déclaration’s sharp, almost “armpits-like” bite. Think of it this way: Passion Boisée stands to Déclaration as Voyage d’Hermès does to Terre d’Hermès — recognizably related, but softer, more wearable, and less iconic than the defining pillar. As it develops further, the nutmeg-woody drydown takes a different path, leaving Déclaration behind and leaning more toward a modernized Edition (90s vintage) by Dunhill, or say, English Oak & Hazelnut by Jo Malone. I even suspect that Jo Malone directly borrowed this modernized direction from Passion Boisée (2007) and presented it a decade later as English Oak & Hazelnut (2017). Rating: 7.5/10

Smell from bottle versus my skin, or other people's skin is wildly different. What I smell from the bottle is very plummy and a sugary smell with a hint of leather and cedar. When I put it on my skin, it is very sweet and a subtle smell of oak and leather comes through. Reminds me of Carolina Herrera Good Girl and Bad Boy. Also reminds me of a more woody leathery Moschino Toy Boy. When my friend wore it, it was very different, I could smell a fruity rum, worn leather, and a stack of oak firewood. Fascinating smell, not particularly the fragrance for me, however my friend loved it and it was exactly what he was looking for.

One of the more interesting fragrences that I've tried recently. At first you get a rather sweet "fruit of the forrest" scent that slowely decents into deeper, more robust scents. This one really devides the men from the boys. First of all because not many houses are capable of creating a fragrence that is this daring yet sophisticated, secondly because I can imagine that not every man feels comfortable wearing this. Not so much because it smells feminine (actually, I wouldn't even consider this fragrence unisex) but more because it represents a niche amongst niche.

Ok, I wouldn't normally test a mans fragrance but I got it in a trade and thinking it was a womans scent, applied it. My impressions: I primarily smell the cedar wood. After a bit, the patchouli is more promient but the fragrance always maintains it's woody base. The tangerine and spices don't hold after the drydown at least on me. Good staying power. This does not scream "men only" so it could be worn by a woman if she prefers more masculine fragrances.

a clean, herbal, almost airy, not overpowering white rum scent with some citruses and the clove that is perfectly wearable. It is a mature scent with average performance (the way i like it). Not a daring scent but different enough to set apart from the more safer ones. I would wear this with a trimmed beard. It has some resemblance to vodka on the rocks from by kilian but more herbal and definately more interesting. Nice and one of the better from Frapin

Mildly woody, mildly spicy, mildly rummy, mildly citrus, mildly leathery. The emphasis is on mild - and this fragrance is very much in the modern style in that it is light. Sadly, it is also in the modern style in that it doesn't have much longevity or projection - and this is an Eau de Parfum concentration! I like it, but it's nothing special and I won't be buying a (overpriced) bottle.

Very strange what happened with this one. The FIRST time I wore this, all I could smell was a light, fruity scent. Almost feminine. (Think pink.) But when I wore it AGAIN, I smelled that tangerine, and even the rum, and a bit of clove. (Think orange.) Very masculine, although a bit lighter than I prefer. But still, Passion Boisee is the best Frapin I have tried so far.

Very nice citrusy rummy frag. It's now early autumn in Sydney, with the temp aroun 20 degrees in the day, and I find it the perfect weather for this. If only the sillage and longevity can be improved...

Nice woody citrusy scent. The dry down is woody, spicy mixed with some sweet booz in the back. Nice and classy men scent, altough nothing unique and longevity is max 5h

Like many Frapin scents this Passion Boisee has very limited performance. I looove its smell but it doesn't last long. After only 1 hour I'm trying to feel it. Performance is low-moderate overall. Frapin house could be one of my favourite if they had decent performance.

MUSTY LEATHER ...with some citrus underneath. I am beginning to see a pattern with how leather fragrances with citrus react to my skin. Not well. The citrus sours and ruins what promises to be an interesting experience. Sigh.

تغییر-ثبات PASSION BOISEE یه جورایی یاد آور فلک بوقلمون صفت و روزگار پتیاره هست! واضح تر اینکه تغییر فضاهای حاکم بر این عطر منو یاد دست به دست شدن تخت حکمرانی در برخی ممالک میندازه!!! بعضی سلسله ها یک شبه بر باد رفتن و برخی بیشتر بر اریکه ی قدرت تکیه کردن! شروع سنگین و تاریک عطر با حس چرم گاز دار و مهیب که در پشت اون مرکبات و الکل در حال دسیسه چینی هستن،بعد از یکی دو دقیقه سر نگون میشه و رایحه ی مهربان و دوست داشتنی نارنگی و پرتقال به قدرت میرسه که وزیر نام آشنایی بنام نوشیدنیهای الکلی که بسیار با کیاست و عمیق و ملایم هست در کنار خود داره. این دوران الحق و الانصاف که دوران آسایش و رفاهه و بسیار آرامش بخش. اما این حکومت عامه پسند و دوست داشتنی بعد از مدتی درگیر هجوم رایحه ی انیمالیک و ادویه ای خشنی میشه که اونو به حاشیه میبرن و فضایی چرکین؛اسپایسی و خشک حاکم میکنن. جوز با اون رایحه ی آشناش فضای سیتروسی-الکلی رو زنده نگه میداره تا در این فضای انیمالیک و نسبتا سنگین؛کورسوی امیدی باقی بمونه! نمیدونم چرا یاد بر کناری خاندان زند توسط قاجارهای ... افتادم که در اون دوران تاریک افرادی نظیر قائم مقام فراهانی و صد البته امیر کبیر؛با خدمات ماندگاری که کردن کشور رو از زوال کامل نجات دادن... خب تا از بحث منحرف نشدیم این تخیلات و برداشتهای شخصی عجیب رو کنار بذاریم و بریم سراغ کار خودمون! فرمانروایی فضای اسپایسی-انیمالیک مدت بیشتری طول میکشه اما کم کم روایح چوبی قد علم میکنن و بالا میان که رهبر قدرتمند اونها یعنی چوب سدر؛در اولین اقدام به سراغ روایح محبوب سیتروسی میره و اونها رو با خودش همراه میکنه. بعد از این اتحاد؛بساط فضای قبلی به مرور برچیده میشه و حالا دیگه فضای ثبات و قرار؛بر عطر حاکم میشه! فضایی چوبی-مرکباتی که رایحه ی الکلی جذابی در پس زمینش جریان داره. عطر این لحظات؛عطر آرامش و اقتداره! بوی ملس؛دلنشین و جذاب مرکبات که از آمیزش با رایحه ی الکلی کمی سنگین و جدی شده در کنار رایحه ی با صلابت و جدی چوبها؛فضای بسیار زیبایی بوجود میارن که بی اندازه لذتبخشه. جوز؛به پاس خدمتی که در این راه به فضای مرکباتی-الکلی کرده؛در این دوران با شکوه اجازه ی حضور پیدا میکنه. نکته ای که در این لحظات برام جالبه اینه که در لحظاتی رایحه ی اون گیاه کوهی که در عطر پارادیس پردو از همین خانه؛بهش اشاره کردم رو میشه حس کرد. همراهی جوز؛مرکبات و نتهای چوبی-خزه ای این رایحه رو ایجاد میکنن که بر زیبایی عطر اضافه میکنه. به مرور رایحه ی جوز محو میشه و رایحه ی مرکباتی با تمام زیبایی هاش به پایان عمرش نزدیک میشه. همزمان خزه قدرتمند تر میشه و پس از وداع با مرکبات با شکوه این کار؛اونچه که باقی می مونه اتحاد خزه؛چوب بلوط و نت الکلی هست که عطری بسیار جدی؛با ابهت؛خشک و مردونه میسازن.یه تغییرقدرت نرم! بویی تنتور مانند و زیبا که فضای چرمی ضعیفی همراهیش میکنه و ابهت و تاثیر گذاری اونو بیشتر میکنه! این پایان بندی زیبا؛حسن ختامی بر اون همه تغییر و بی ثباتی بود. سر انجامی خوشایند؛مقتدرانه و پر از فخر و جبروت!! Passion Boisee is very good. It opens with a flash of turpentine which quickly morphs into a bright, sparkling tangerine note, the orange of Terre d'Hermes minus the dirt, but juicier, more realistic and bright. As it develops an excellent creamy oak note emerges, very tastefully spiced as to lend character and some sweet aromatics while remaining clean, sturdy and composed. Along with it, a spicy vanillic rum, never too heavy on the booze, doled out with great attention to balance. The nutmeg and cloves are key players here, as they seem to spice everything in a complementary way, never clashing or seeming out of place. Sometimes clove is way overdone, heavy and thick and dominating everything else, but not here. It's handled perfectly. The leather in the base fits right in as part of the foundation, well-blended with the other notes in the sense that it's there but subtle, lending a masculine presence to the whole. The leather itself even has some evolution, beginning as a softer, suede style of leather and concluding with greater polish and formality. Everything about this is elegant, refined and tasteful. It's rich without being loud, complex without falling into a cacophony, and never too obvious. I get a mature, masculine impression from Passion Boisee. Originally I must have had a stuffy nose or cold when I first wore this, as I could barely smell it. I definitely couldn't pick up on all the little details that make this so good. It's a very nice fragrance, a bit on the reserved side. Do I wish the projection was just a little stronger? Sure. But it still does the job, and I just apply a little more than usual. Overall, Passion Boisee seems suited for low-key days at work and relaxed moments of leisure at home or a favorite hangout. Thumbs up for this winner from Frapin, a subtly complex and elegant scent that is comfortable and easy to wear.

Frapin are so close to cracking it you know but just fall short everytime! The general 'theme' running through the fragrances is good and cohesive to support the brand but at the same time varied enough to create interest. I've certainly enjoyed many of their creations but they're average longevity wise. In actual fact this is not a major criticism really, longevity is important but making a quality scent is more important and they certainly do that. Passion boisee is again a wonderfully fruity little number which in the opening at least to me is instantly feminine. I hate using that definition but it's what springs to mind when a perfume is so fruity. The tangerine note is apparent and without knowing the specifics of what it was I'd have said a mixture citrus/peach like vibe? So I wasn't far off. A definite booziness here which is a bit of a signiture of Frapin fragrances and a warm woody fragrance at heart with definite clove and nutmeg accents. I found passion boisee to be a really interesting outing, the drydown is great, so easy and a pleasure to wear. I had it on in very hot weather the other day and although it has warm qualities it's perfectly suited to the heat. If I had to get a fragrance from Frapin it would be 1270 as it's just so good. I also like the unique Paradis perdu but this comes in a close third. Longevity and projection are average.

Must be the luck of the draw, as I have happened upon another bizarrely complicated perfume to test right after yesterday's encounter with Parfums DelRae Panache. Frapin Passion Boisée bears some similarities to Panache. Both are woody and veering masculine. Both present a cacophony of notes not usually found all together in one place. Both leave me somewhat ambivalent. Others have raved about the mandarin in this perfume, but I have to say that it does not really stand out to my nose. I smell more of a leather and woody complex embellished with citrus, but it's not at all identifiable as any particular orange fruit. The opening of Passion Boisée is especially confusing, but the entire wear is a kaleidoscopic experience, not all of it pleasant. Probably in the end I just don't like the underlying leather note very much. The note may also be hitting a nerve. It's all so complicated.

Passion Boisee opens with a rich smell of wood soaking in expensive rum. It brings me to England, to one of those cozy restaurants all decorated with wood, serving expensive drinks and cigars, full of the noises of rich people. The smell is chic and relaxing! Then the fragrance gets milder, softer and on my skin it changes amazingly! After an hour or so it opens like an easy Sunday morning in London. I feels like drinking a black breakfast tea with milk. This tea is hot, very strong and sweet with the soft milky smell which is somehow energising and makes me think of a new beautiful day:) So interesting to observe how the scent of Passion Boisee takes you from the evening to morning, it's really magical! It is my "London perfume" :) I would call it a unisex a fragrance with amazing staying power. A must try like every other scent from Frapin!

This has a really weird opening. Something between very strong cedar, tangerine and turpentine. Bizarre. It only stays like that for a minute thankfully. After that, the cedar explodes and give this fragrance the beautiful complex powderyness that it is. When I first smelled this I thought it had sandalwood in it. Cedar/Sandal both have that beautiful elegance to them. And that's what the overall feel of this fragrance is. A very elegant, light, lightly spiced and citrus combo. The oakmoss and leather don't really show on my skin which I'm thankful for as I think oakmoss smells like musty cupboard. The patchouli is also very very understated. The cedar is the star of this show so...if that's your thing? Try this out. I like it but would never pay the high price for a bottle. :)

Spiced rum dripping from a leather glove. It's a Christmassy kind of a smell. All oranges, cloves, cinnamon and booze. The heart of this feels thick somehow, in contrast to the thinness of the opening. It's probably the oakmoss (or whatever is being used in its place now that EU laws restrict it). It feels very substantial at its heart. The patchouli gives the whole composition a richness that makes it feel somewhat decadent. I'm going to save this for colder weather as I'm fairly sure I'm trying it at the wrong time of year, but so far, I am impressed.

Thought I might like this one, but im in the minority I guess as ive only seen a couple other mentions of cleaning detergent or turpentine smell and I get the same thing. Some sort of cleaning agent throughout the entire thing for me. Theres a definite 'boozyness' to this, but at the same time it might just be I get such a strong cleaning sorta vibe with alcohol that might be it as well. For what its worth I can see how others might like it, as it is clean smelling, but another pass from me.

Reminded me of the woody dry down of arquiste’s indigo smoke - the latter opens with a smoky black tea while this one is a petro-like and tangerine - which I actually like. Sits very close to skin but one of the more long lasting frapin fragrances

rich, complex, juicy, modern, somewhat mystical, very masculine but also a refined freshness the world aint ready for.....Mancera Fruits of the Musk made me feel the same way when I wore it. 5stars right here you wont be disappointed.

Oddly enough, this reminds me of Creed's Spice and Wood (once you get passed the short lived opening). With added mandarin and rum notes... Really that's it. Nice scent, performance is similar to Creed's...

The opening of this reminds me of fireball whiskey and/or big red gum. Because i get a spicy cinnamon type smell which i assume is the spiced rum. Very interesting. Definitely unique.

I've been savouring the dregs of an (almost) drained bottle, and it smells even better towards the end, I swear! Worn this for over 15 years and just love it.

For me it is verbenna and nice woods. Reminds me a bit of mosquito repellent mixed with grape soda. Sounds weird but it is addictive in fact. Very nice.

Leather and tangerine with glittery warm spices, mostly clove. Very festive and lovely. Dries to a boozy tangerine and clove. I like this a lot.)

It is the best Woody-Boozy fragrance that I smelled. Rich,depth,luxury and very nice scent. I love it. 8.5/10
