A Fuego Lento

A Fuego Lento for me is more than anything, a sheer jasmine with some tart freshness, that develops into a full garden. The natural indolic quality of jasmine is tempered here in a needed way. While jasmine is one of my favorite notes, it is naturally heavy and dominating. It is diva-like it nature, but that diva can leave you forever in love, forever full of nostalgia. Orange flower nectar is the counterpoint. You smell it all: baskets full of blossoms. Baskets full of blossoms are baskets full of blossoms. Yet, the gentle summer day is yours, and you are claiming it. You can wear a perfume that is very true summer blossoms, extracts that bring sun-warmed skin to mind. But the blossoms are most of what you smell. That strong sharpness that is character to orange blossom fragrance freshly applied, is eliminated here. There is a smoothness in the base, and the perfume is so natural that it doesn't fade prematurely, but it doesn't leave such a thick base skin scent as some perfumes with a more synthesized feeling do. Like I love Alien by Mugler to death, but even if it is based on "jasmine sambac" it is about not being natural, thus it lasts extremely long. A Fuego Lento is indeed a slow burn, but it is a peaceful burn, the burn of a sweet summer memory, that persists long enough, but fades in a way that leaves you sniffing and wondering what you missed. Perhaps something of woods and the contents of a soft suede satchel. Lasting power isn't poor, but summer days can fly by when you are happy.

This is gorgeous. Frassai may be a new, niche house, but A Fuego Lento seems to me to sit firmly in the great French classical tradition. If you put his name into the search bar, there is an interview with the perfumer behind AFL, Rodrigo Flores-Roux, on this site. He is described as the only Latin fine fragrance perfumer in the world. There are so many niche perfumes nowadays which seem to prize weird ingredients and shock factor over beauty. Rodrigo Flores-Roux has created something beautiful. To turn to specifics, the top notes reminded me so much of Mcqueen Eau de Parfum that I decided to try them against each other and I have one on each wrist. The top notes were indeed very close: creamy, fleshy, heady white flowers. Both list jasmine among their notes. Only Mcqueen lists tuberose, but I could swear there is tuberose in A Fuego Lento as well and I see from the previous reviews that I am not the only one to think this. When the heart notes started to emerge, there was more divergence. The white flowers in Mcqueen were wrapped in suede but A Fuego Lento introduced a note that came across almost like almond. There was also a musk note beginning to emerge. Finally, 6 hours after first spritzing, I can say that there isn't much left of either. Mcqueen is now a powdery suede and A Fuego Lento fairly similar but with a ghost of the white flowers just discernible. If I could only wear one of these two, I'd choose A Fuego Lento.

I just bought this after eking out a tiny sample over the course of many months since I didn't want it to run out. This is an exquisite fragrance to me, summery, floral, sultry, yet not too overpoweringly va-va-voom. I'm surprised to see several people describe this as a soft, sweet, elegant jasmine. I'm not too much of a jasmine connoisseur but to me the jasmine packs a bit of a punch and I'm even picking up on a touch of indolic-ness. The thing that saves it from becoming too too much of a white floral bomb for me, a plain-looking, plain-dressing Dutch woman with about as much exotic allure as a pair of clogs, and who therefore feels a bit out of character wearing overly voluptuous white floral fragrances, are the orange blossom and the cassis, which actually are quite prominent on me and add a sharpness to the overall scent. I also get the leather and Tolu balsam, which add just enough earthiness and resinousness to make this feel well-rounded and invoke the rugged Argentine setting on which this scent is supposed to be based. All in all, I think the description of this as sensuous is correct, but it's a manageable enough sensuousness for me to pull off (when wearing some mascara and lip gloss), with certainly enough interest to keep this from coming across as another designer fragrance. I really really like it.

When I first sprayed A Fuego Lento on my husband, he said, that's how paradise should smell. A Fuego Lento smells like the joy of life, like vacations, like dancing on the beach to the rhythm of the live music, it smells like a warm starry night. You know the feeling, when everything is ok and you are just happy with somebody you love? That is A Fuego Lento. The jasmine is big in this fragrance, but it is not sharp or heady. It's soft, creamy, dipped into the tolu balsam and put into the suede purse. There is something intoxicating and sexy about this fragrance. The staying power is very good. It openned quite differently on male skin, so I'd say, it's really unisex, yet leaning to female side. If you like jasmine in fragrances, this is a must try! P.S. If there was a commercial for this fragrance, Rosana's "A Fuego Lento" would be the perfect background music. Turn it on while testing!

I bought this on a blind buy. Oh, what a smart decision I made. I absolutely love this gorgeous perfume. I cannot stop smelling it. It was recommended by one of the YouTubers I watch that reviews perfume. I love how she explained the beauty of this perfume. Then, I came to Fragrantica to check what others had said about it. Most said it was beautiful, long lasting, so I said, that’s it. I’m getting it. It wasn’t cheap. This bottle was 150 US for 50 ml. But so worth it. I got it from a perfume store on line in Ohio. The fragrance was created by an Argentine perfume maker. Apparently, this fragrance is not controlled by Ifra and it shows. It’s like perfume used to be before they stripped it of its natural oils and power. I highly recommend this unique smelling fragrance.

I blind bought a sample of A Fuego Lento among with some other perfumes. It completely blew me away. To me it smells just like inhaling the scent of your lover's sunwarm skin, a very subtle hint of the sunscreen they applied hours ago, while you're walking past a jasmin bush and an orange tree in bloom. It's intoxicating, I can't stop smelling it when I wear it, and it last the whole day. This is the first perfume I've ever smelled that is so insanely good it just makes me want to scream at someone? Like it's not fair how good it is. It's definitely a summer scent which makes me furious because I want to wear it every day.

This is a wonderful fragrance to welcome in Spring. It is a superior jasmine focused scent. One of the reasons I enjoy it so much is the other notes especially the orange blossom, civet and suede. This is not s fragrance that tries to dominate the room. It has moderate silage and longevity. It lasts about 3 hours but becomes a skin scent after two. For some this might be enough to not purchase it. Among those who have rated this fragrance the vast majority think of this as a feminine scent. I disagree; it is unisex to me. I think Rodrigo Flores-Roux is a talented perfumer.

This fragrance is the one I've been looking for. It smells like walking through Seville in the spring when the orange blossoms are in full bloom. There's nothing spicy or astringent to detract from the soft white flowers. To me this is perfectly balanced for the day, and for the evening I layer it with Burberry Brit Rhythm Floral. I can still smell it in the morning, which makes me so happy.

This scent is perfect for those early, crisp days of Spring when you start to crave the smell of fresh budding flowers. This feels like i am walking through a garden, and the jasmine is blooming. So it almost feels like a soliflore in the sense that I get mostly jasmine--a very sweet, fresh, fleshy jasmine. It's lovely, lively, and inoffensive.

*Update- This had become one of my personal favourite perfumes in my collection!. What a beautiful sexy scent. I definitely get the Jasmine and Orange blossom with the suede and balsam. I tend to wear this on a summer evening as it oozes that “je ne sais quoi”....a bit mysterious.

Just one word. Heavenly. If you love jasmine, tuberose scents, you’ll find A fuego lento adorable. Longevity is great on my skin, six hours easily. But I do think this is a feminine fragrance.

Jasmine with claws. Jasmine with an attitude. A low heat this is not, it's nearly radioactive. Jasmine usually sings in a pretty, resonous alto range but here she is a soprano at full tilt trying to shatter glass. It is incredibly bright and vividly white, soapy musky, and far more convincingly synthetic than naturalistic. Orange blossoms and blackcurrants round it off in the background by providing floral and fruity sweetness. The dry down reveals balsams, and an animalic muskiness with a leathery tone. It's a good jasmine perfume by all accounts and comparisons, but hardly anything new or special. And, more importantly, seems to lack the creativity the Frassai brand frequently delivers; at their best they put a clear image in your mind of a landscape or a place, or food as in Teisenddu, but there isn't an image with A Fuego Lento. At the very least it can be said that Frassai still care about the full experience of the perfume, as A Fuego Lento remains cohesive and well built from the start all the way to the point where it fades from skin. Verano Porteno, another jasmine from Flores-Roux for the brand and released a year earlier, does a better job of delivering something memorable.

Reminds me of A La Nuit as a pure jasmine soliflore. Very beautiful and an easy blind buy or easy reach for any jasmine lover. I personally don’t get any notes other than jasmine, aside from a bit of sugary sweetness in the first few minutes. In that regard I am reminded of Jasmine 17, however Jasmine 17 remains quite sweet and has vanilla in the base while the sweetness of A Fuego Lento slowly dissipates until there is just jasmine left. This perfume also reminds me of Frassaï’s own Verano Porteño, which I own and personally prefer. The jasmine in both perfumes smells incredibly pure. Verano Porteño is heavily blended with citrus/lemon, and I just find it so uplifting and fresh. Both perfumes are a jasmine lover’s dream.

- I'm in love at first sniff with this one. The opening is so good! Beautiful, sweet, creamy white florals on a base of crisp grassy greens blended with fruity overtones. A Fuego Lento is giving me Gucci Bloom vibes and I love that because I have all of the flankers that smell like the original! lol. I'm crazy, I know. A Fuego Lento is it's own thing to me. It's intoxicating to me. I feel like I've never smelled anything as beautiful as this. It's giving me nostalgia related to summer mornings in the countryside.

Previous reviews describe this perfectly. It’s very jasmine heavy and I’m struggling to pick up any other notes. I adore jasmine so I don’t mind, but I’d like it to be a bit more complex. F_A gives a perfect visual of what this perfume is like. It does feel like paradise, where the warm sunlight hits the jasmine and intensifies it’s scent. It’s really beautiful and calming, but definitely not for everyone.

Beautifully composed, sweet, elegant, feminine jasmine fragrance with hints of a fougere notes which i assume is grass. Pleasant but not FBW for me

The initial powerful jasmine gradually diminishes in presence, transitioning into citrusy floral notes, followed by a sweetness distinct from the florals. This sweetness likely stems from unfamiliar ingredients such as civet and Tolu balsam, making it challenging to articulate precisely. Whilst I anticipated that some of these notes would eventually emerge more prominently, the jasmine’s overwhelming presence seemed to overshadow the other fragrances. The scent appears more perceptible in the cold outdoors than in warm indoor spaces. Nevertheless, I struggled to identify the source of this sweetness, and ultimately, the top note of jasmine left the strongest impression on me. The sweetness that develops from the middle phase onwards endures, though it doesn’t seem to project significantly. Despite its concentrated nature, the fragrance is difficult to detect unless one brings their nose close to the application point. As a result, some might perceive it as ‘weak’ or ‘short-lasting’. This fragrance was created by Rodrigo Flores-Roux, who also crafted the impressively memorable Verano Porteño. To verify my impressions, I wore this fragrance for two days, yet my initial assessment remained unchanged. Given the distinctive presence of jasmine, this creation might particularly appeal to jasmine enthusiasts.

A Fuego Lento is primarily jasmine and orange blossom, which reminds me of Jasmin by Molinard (purple bottle), but less spicy and slightly skanky. It shares some accords with Adjatay (The Different Company) which focuses on tuberose and leather, and Evening Edged In Gold (Ineke), which features bitter datura and some candy sweetness. I think the common denominators are the tolu balsam, which reads like a bitter styrax to me, and suede. Sniffing from the nozzle of my spray sample, I thought it was kind of uninspired, but now that I have had it on my skin for several minutes, the other notes come out and their interplay is quite nice. I still don't think it's especially unique, and AFL is less my style than Adjatay and EEIG, but this is a solid perfume with a nighttime vibe. I'll happily finish my sample (from Olfactif) and likely order another next time they run a sale, but realistically I'd probably skip on a full bottle of this in favor of tracking down one of Adjatay and/or EEIG. A sensual, carnal beauty of a perfume that reminds me of larger-than-life Marilyn Monroe in her iconic white dress in the Seven Year Itch. Intoxicating grand white florals with a sharp, citrussy-green intensity that cuts through the carnal indolicness of the jasmine. A Fuego then wades into an intense, soapy Yardley British toiletry territory for a bit before the fleshy bodies return back to the languid indolence of warm balsam and leathery, suede notes. In short: imagine two bodies heaving in lust and ecstasy, and then after their orgiastic consummation, their post-coital afterglow and breaths is all that remains. But instead of bodies, it's with two white flowers, both of whom have big personalities. Wear with caution.

This is very jasmine heavy fragrance, the animalic note joins jasmine very early in the burn. In my opinion the perfume is very strong, might be headache inducing, not office safe and not a safe blind buy. It calms down a few hours later and turns into creamy, balsamic jasmine but overall it's linear and simple. Maybe it's my skin chemistry, but to me it smells like a jasmine bloom on a very hot, humid night. I like it, but I don't love it and I do like white floral fragrances. My boyfriend said it was feminine and beautiful. He liked it a lot. This is a bit too much of jasmine, but if jasmine is your love, this is your baby!

When I lived in a warmer climate (SoCal) I preferred Verano Porteno but now that I live in a cooler climate (northern WA) and was craving some white florals I reached for this one and it is much better than I remembered. I agree with the review below mine that says it could fit in with the Gucci Bloom line, but this is better quality to me and more intoxicating. I may be wrong but I believe this line has high proportion of naturals, hence the high pricing.

Very nice mostly-jasmine and orange blossom with some supporting notes that aren't quite distiguishable. It's sort of a dried, late summer jasmine. Very close to my memory of L'Artisan's discontinued La Haie Fleuri, so if anyone is missing that, not a bad sub. The Frassai is decidedly sweeter and it starts sweet, gets less sweet, then gets too sweet for me in the final stage (but I have low sweet tolerance, in general). Smells like quality ingredients.

This is THE Jasmine religion. Incredibly stunning pure isolation and idoration of the main flower. In all it's beauty and form. It's timeless Jasmine apotheosis ! As if they were capable of extracting the molecule from the flower's DNA itself. Very strong, definetely mature taste but fresh take on it. If you like jasmine you will LOVE this if you love jasmine this will make you CRY. But it def wears mature or " a certain type of classy "

Well, To me this is really similar to Tom Ford - Jasmin Rouge. Both of the scents have the same type of jasmine there is no point to have both of them. Very heavy on jasmine, i found it cloying a bit.. Longevity is better than TF however, I think this is a sharp jasmine.. it gave me slight headache.

Very soft, doesn't last on my skin for even a full half hour. It smells quality, but it lacks any kind of strength. This is fine, but it really feels like an overpriced gucci bloom. As a matter of fact, I'm finding a few of their fragrances resembling popular designer scents heavy.

Creamy butter, and caramel balsamic neroli. This is quite pleasant with it's balsamic, & sweet, yet sour mix. Hazelnuts, caramel, balsamic, cake, neroli, citrus, & bits of jasmines. It kind of smell like a caramel popcorn, quite interesting.

it is fair to say for all of you who have not beedn duped allready, that buying their 50ml bottles you will get only 40 ml of perfume in them! so go ahead spend your 180 eur for this slap in your face. SO LOW

A bit too candied and sweet for my liking. I also find this a bit redundant within their offerings, as Victoria feels like the more well-rounded and remarkable white floral focused scent.

I'm not a huge fan of this. I'm getting a narcissus note. It's sweet but harsh. I wish the floral wasn't as strident.
