273 Indigo for Men

Super Sexy - this is quite a cologne, but is definitely leaning more masculine and is too masculine to be considered a "unisex" scent the first hour of wear. I ordered this by mistake thinking that it was the female perfume (be careful, the ad didn't say for him or for her, so I assumed it was for her -- the name and bottle shape are very similar in the men's and woman's versions). This is the men's cologne version and a fragrance that was popular enough for me to have remembered from the late 80's, early 90's. This is a distinct fragrance that I have always admired, but never knew the name of. This is similar to some other stronger alpha male scents from the 80's and 90's, such as Drakkar -- but has some sweeter notes that caramelize with your chemistry where there is more of an alluring appeal. (The closest thing to this that I have reviewed would be the Black Afgano Nasomatto cologne - they both share the same depth when first sprayed -- only Indigo is slightly more masculine/male when first sprayed). There are notes in this that would be appropriate in a woman's cologne (I'm curious to know what the women's version of this fragrance is...), but the first hour of wear -- this is a male composition...very masculine. This is a club scent - something to wear out for the evening. It is potent, goes on super strong - but wears closer to the skin about an hour into spraying. I was amazed, this fragrance is still ON, over 12 hours after spraying this...although a very faint trace of it now -- it is STILL ON! Fred Hayman has some good products. I have been impressed with 273 Rodeo Drive and Touch. Indigo is another great example of this line of products.

I first smelt this and thought "great, i paid for soap!" I fell in love with it shortly after as i smelt in on my clothes. The lavender would be why it smells a bit soapy, but the musk and wood notes help keep it manly enough. Very original and it lasts and stays a soapy fresh. It's not the soapy nature that Prada boasts, its actually quite modern, young and easy to wear. I dont think its strong enough for nights out, but they do say a good smelt wont be smelt alot by the wearer. Its great during the day.

A unique woody and spicy smell but VERY POWDERY! I don't know any other fragrances that smell the same. Performance is average to weak. Longevity is about 4 hour plus but does not have a good projection and it remains close to the skin. However , it is unique and likable. More suitable for men / fall/ evening.

I swapped for a bottle of this as a newbie several years ago and hated it. It just smelled really bad to me. Then I swapped it off and when that person received it, he thought I sent him something that had "gone bad." Being a newbie, I had no idea. I remember it smelling "synthetic" to me, in a chemical kind of way. I wish I could try it again, but my guess is that I'd say that there are much better fragrances for the same price or not much more. I don't know who this was meant to appeal to or what the idea was, since it's so simple.

I got a brand new unopened bottle of 273 Indigo for Men with cellophane last week for $6.99 on eBay, and it was so stinky, it made me scream like a girl before I ran to take a shower. I'm sad to hate on Indigo, and perhaps the bottle was collapsing...there was a sour top note, like the citrus has turned rancid, but then the middle and base were like a nonenal funeral home jasmine. It was so terrible, and the complete opposite of the stunning 273 Rodeo Drive for Men, which is incredible and so easy to wear.

To me, 273 Indigo smells like a cross between Bvlgari Blv and Bvlgari Blv Notte - but it lasts longer than they do on me. Regards.

Cheaper version of Bvlgari Blv....not a complaint however...tis powdery, sweet, with a touch of chocolate/vodka.
