Touch

The blend of this is exquisite, you can tell that a lot of care was taken to create this. This is a scent that would be great for mothers and teachers. This smells like a big cozy hug in a bottle! This starts with a well blended, slightly synthetic rose note. There is an ever so subtle ting of plastic Barbie Doll head in this at the opening, which begins settling into the skin within the first 5 to 10 minutes. This moves into a classic rose scent, after the opening. The blend is sophisticated, I can't discern exact notes - but there is a slight spicy quality which would move this fragrance into the alluring category (rather than merely a soapy clean classic rose perfume - category). I wore Beautiful by EL for over 25 years, it was always one of my very favorite perfumes. Touch seems to be a rose version of Beautiful (at the beginning of this -- the first hour of wear). Touch is like a bridal bouquet of florals with a predominantly rose vibe. This is a non-linear, well crafted rose smell (not the typical classic soapy rose smell -- although I love that too, but in a different way). If I were blindfolded and couldn't look at a label or bottle for identification purposes, I would have guessed that this was an Estee Lauder fragrance. It just has that level of care taken in the way that this is made. This is probably why a lot of reviews have stated that this fragrance is "old money". This is a gorgeous vintage floral perfume. ------------- On me, after the initial spray - and as this settles into the skin more -- this becomes soft and whispers. It is so universal that it would cross all economic levels and would be universally loved. If you are looking for a safe fragrance to wear for social gatherings, church, lunches with friends/family, this would not offend anyone. I feel that this would be universally loved. Very sweet, kind, lovely. After an hour on my skin, this moves into a softer more linear, watered down form of Cabotine. You begin to smell more of the carnations, the rose notes are still there - but it begins to share the stage with carnation. However, this mood is most definitely completely different than Cabotine. Doing a side by side comparison with Touch and Cabotine -- they are in the same family, but there is about a 20% difference which makes each unique and not a dupe. Cabotine has more of a playful green, sporty vibe. Cabotine opens with a stronger base note, there is almost an earthy chord that grounds this - which is absent in Touch. On my skin, this smells like a slight tobacco earthy base note. Cabotine has a slightly sharper ZING note to it making it smell slightly less inhibited than Touch. This is what makes Cabotine seem more "sporty". Cabotine has a good length of wear. It lasts on my skin at least 6-8 hours. Touch has more of a pink, rose -- warm fuzzy vibe. It is a solid alto chord, without the stronger base sustaining tobacco notes of Cabotine - and without the sharp ZING. Cabotine has more of a sustaining strength, it lasts much longer on the skin. Touch is gorgeous but also short lived, it fades more quickly...(you'll definitely want to refresh this more often). ----------- The opening is similar to a rose version of Beautiful by Estee Lauder. But after the first hour, I would put this in a similar category to Prima by Avon (the Pink version) and Sarah Jessica Parker - Lovely...(only with carnations - similar to Cabotine). Towards the final lap - at hour 5-6, this definitely starts to smell more in line with what I remember Cabotine smelling like. This has lost the heavy rose smell, and morphs into the exact memory of what Cabotine smells like throughout its wear. (Cabotine is one of my favorite perfumes, it is upbeat - great for days outdoors, it is sporty, fresh, fun, upbeat.) ---------- This lasts 8 hours on the skin, but wears closer to the skin than some of the stronger 80's formulas.

Where to begin in describing why I love this perfume so very much? Well, I guess I should start by saying Elizabeth Arden's Red Door is one of my two signature scents. (The other one is Ralph Lauren's Safari) This scent reminds me so much of Red Door, but is much less expensive. It's a real steal! It is definitely a fragrance I plan to keep in my wardrobe at all times. I would describe it as a "mature" perfume, although I don't mean to lump it in with the "old lady perfumes". (Sorry for using that hated term...I just couldn't think of more appropriate words at the moment to convey what I mean.) I'm not smelling any "sweet" in this as I do with most fragrances that are newer and/or new to me. To have a beautiful perfume without the oft used sweetness is a real treat for me. I'm in my mid 40's now, and I guess for myself personally I don't want to smell like a teen or much younger lady. I don't mean to say sweet scents can only be worn by those more youthful, but just that I think I've "outgrown" a lot of them. In addition, I always seem to love fragrance's that are "red" - Red Door (as mentioned), Charlie Red, Giorgio Red, Avon's Little Red Dress, Elizabeth Taylor's Diamonds and Rubies, etc. (The only exception in my experience so far is 273 Red, also by Fred Hayman, which I find horrific! So weird having a true love frag and a pure hate frag by the same perfumer!) Touch envelops me in my own little luxury comfort zone from the moment I spritz, and on my skin lasts for hours - which is very unusual for my skin, which typically eats perfumes. In my "Touch zone," it is easy to stop my mind from worrying about the troubles of the day for a little while, and take a moment to be grateful for all of the wonderful things and people in my life, which for me, is a much needed exercise. I try not to be a negative person, but especially since the nightmare of 2020 and the lockdown began, I find that I need more and more reasons to elevate my mind from so much negativity just to hold on to my own sanity. This treasure is so well blended I'm not sure how well I can pick out each note as I experience them, but can say without a doubt, and from my heart, that this perfume is a gift to me, and to the world! I know that sounds overly dramatic, but I'm just so grateful to have this beautiful fragrance in my life and for the little mini frag-cations I'm able to experience right where I am.

I wanted to try this one because I've read some good things about it at a few of the online stores. The first two notes I picked up on were the soapy aldehydes and rose. I was sort of surprised because I thought I would get plum or peach if I had to guess by the notes. I do pick up on the violet and rose a lot, and it smells like a very beautiful feminine rose soap. Overall.. I like this one.. it's very pleasant and ladylike. I've only had it on for an hour or two, and I may come back to review after I get around to the dry down of it. Editing to write that after a few days of wearing this perfume I do smell the peach and plum. The reason why I didn't smell it was because it's not a very strong smelling peachy plum scent.. it's nicely blended with the flowers. The dry down doesn't change much. I get the sandalwood and vanilla.. but it's not strong. It kind of wimps out at the end of the perfume. I do get musk from begining to end though. I'm very happy to add this one to my small collection. :)

a friend of mine used to wear this all the time. I don't know if she wore to much or if it just didn't suit her, but I disliked it intensely and there are not many perfumes that I don't like. One day, because of the price and great reviews, I bought it blind off line. Even if I didn't like it I could give it to my friend and it didn't cost very much. Well imagine my surprise when I put it on and wore it a little while. It is delightful. A lot of orange blossom and carnation, and orchids, all some of my favorite notes and the dry down is lovely too. A rich and sophisticated floral with a hint of sandalwood. A little does go a long way and it is very affordable. I am so glad I gave this perfume a chance. Some have said it smells a lot like EA Red Door. I used to love Red Door but a relative told me it smelled terrible on me and I haven't wore it since. This may become my new Red Door.

Light. Airy. Feminine. Long lasting. This perfume really agrees with my skin. I love it and wear it a lot. I will always have a bottle of this. Several people at work have mentioned to me that it's their favorite thing that I wear. Wonderful. I think this is a happy smell. People seem drawn to this. I got a big 3.4 oz bottle of this on Ebay for $15 and it will last me forever. Update: I wore this today and wondered why I even bother with anything else. Everyone seems to like this happy smell on me. It doesn't cost much, easy to find on Ebay, and lasts a long time. What else could you want?

There are few fragrances that I truly ADORE, and Fred Hayman's Touch is one of them. It was love at first sniff! Top notes of orange blossom and peach fade into lush carnation and lily of the valley blossoms. Powdery amber and fresh cedar appear after an hour of wear. Noticed a slight hint of vanilla, but did not detect any musk or civet. Sillage is good; longevity is approximately 2.5 hours. Touch is a bright, uplifting floral elixir with a clean, soapy finish. (In another review, someone mentioned that Touch was reminiscent of Breck shampoo--which is spot-on!).

Funny story, we were at a wedding a few years back and this lady was wearing such a gorgeous scent, my friend went up to ask what she was wearing, she wagged her finger at my friend and said she won’t share the name of her scent, challenge accepted, my friend got her drunk to get the name. It was Touch by Fred Hayman. Moral of the story don’t be a gatekeeper ladies.

all of the florals; starts with carnation and aldehydes, orchid, some peach, rose, orange blossom, bergamot, orris, ylang on a bed of sandalwood, musk and vetiver; a gorgeous example of a vintage floral. For me, the base was neroli, orchid and ylang that turned a bit soapy. Still beautiful but I wish it stayed more in the top.

Great fragrance. However, it is a strong fragrance which tends to overpower you if sprayed too much. Young people wouldn’t find this attractive as it has strong civet character present. Matured noses would appreciate the complexities of this perfume. Recommended amount of spray- 1-2 spray

Wow! This one brought memories.. back when I was in the dating scene. It was my go to frag since I found the scent classy & elegant. Bought it after reading about it here; I had forgot about it; a classy & mature scent. The longevity is pretty decent too. Love!!!

This fragrance has practically identical notes to Red door (which I also love), and Vendetta - which it is definitely similar to in many aspects minus the marigold but seems to have the same dry yet sweet honey note which is not listed but definitely makes an appearance on my skin - it is like a fresher and more wearable red door in many ways with many facets of the original Vendetta. It also smells alot like the original Bijan (yellow honeyed sweet yet dry ylang-ylanged floral) I get what people say about the febreeze/laundry notes on first spray this is what you mainly smell but give it 5 minutes and the honeyed yellow floral notes take hold. I am already sold! EDIT 13/9/13 unfortunately I am really begining to dislike this scent on me - every so often I get a very synthetic whiff of something that reminds me of fabric softener. This is definitely a more modern, fresher version of Red Door but its just not quite me so it will be getting a new home shortly. I wanted to love this but there is just a super sharp, sweet yet cleaning product type note which is very apparent on my skin. I am going to try 273 Red and see how that fares on my skin.

I find other reviews so interesting! It just proves that fragrance is really subjective! I don’t pick up any civet in the least, nor do I find this fragrance animalic! My bottle is less than a year old so it’s possible civet has been removed from newer formulations. I get a floral, powdery musk! I wore this to dinner tonight and my friend immediately complimented it and ask what I was wearing! I’d say this falls into the “clean girl” type of scent due to the aldehydes and orris. It’s like a fresh shower followed by dusting powder. It’s very pretty and elegant. I’d say this may be preferred by women over 30. I like it, however iris and orris make me sneeze a bit however it’s not too heavy in this! My sneezing only last for ten minutes or so! I like it! I don’t find it comparable to red door which is much heavier. This is much lighter and fresher and I’d say pretty appropriate for any occasion!

This perfume makes me think of perfumes such as Jean Patou 1000 and Estee Lauder Estee. The perfumes are all absolutely different, however what they share in common is- complexity, refinement, uniqueness, bravery, and a touch of grandeur. The perfume is spicy at just the right moments, the floral notes are unending, the fruity notes are not overly accentuated or sweet. All the underpinnings of sensual notes for the base are velvety and deep. Itś a "big" perfume, as one can imagine by reading the components, however, this perfume creates itś own essence for the wearer, a quiet aura, never an embarrasing cloud. I can smell it on my clothes the next day, although, on my skin, it fades away unexpectedly quickly. I don't mind. This scent is so lucious, itś my pleasure to spray and spray again!

Touch smells like showering and getting ready to go somewhere in the 80s/90s. I get a lot of floral-warm-spicy-clean Flex shampoo smell, and like others have already said, it is similar to Red Door. I prefer this to Red Door though because it is juicier and sultrier. It makes more of an impression compared to the Red Door currently on the market. Touch smells like someone took Red Door and put her in a black sequined bodycon dress. However, I don't think this is a super-formal or "special occasions only" perfume though. I could imagine it being worn every day, as well as possessing that retro but not dated uniqueness that would allow it to work in more formal situations. (This review is for a recently purchased bottle--not a vintage)

Okay, so I still have the bottle I bought in the 90's! LOL. I remember thinking it was very feminine, pretty strong and I did not wear it very often. Florals are not my fave as I prefer more fruity musky scents. But I must have liked this enough to buy it lol. There is a little perfume left in my bottle and some crystallization at the bottom. I just smelled it and it's STILL super strong with a very heavy Carnation scent. I definitely don't get the civet or animalic notes, nor did I detect it when purchased (or I probably would have worn it more often). I'm tempted to try it. However, it's so old, I don't want to chance a bad reaction.

Another bit of info: Touch includes: aldehydes, orange blossom, plum, green notes, peach, bergamot and lemon; middle notes are carnation, violet, orchid, damask rose, orris root, jasmine, ylang-ylang and lily-of-the-valley; base notes are sandalwood, amber, musk, civet, vanilla, vetiver and cedar Red Door Includes: ylang-ylang and red rose, at its heart; orchid, jasmine, lily-of-the valley, orange blossom, wild violet and freesia. The base is composed of honey, sandalwood and vetiver. So they actually do contain a lot of the same notes! :)Happy Sniffing!

To my nose this smells IDENTICAL to Elizabeth Arden's Red Door. Very heavy, strong sillage, dry down is nice and warm like Escada Margaretha Ley. My sister wears Red Door all the time and is one of those people that has chemistry it works with. When I bought this blind sniffed my first thought was that they had mistakenly stuck RD juice in my Touch bottle! :) It is a pleasant smell to me, but heavy...I wouldn't wear this to church or in any confining spaces or you may give someone a headache. Cheers!

I love Touch, so bold and elegant. It has excellent silage, definitely something that gets you noticed and smells like old money. Very aldehydic and a bit heavy, reminds me of white diamonds with much less obvious florals. It's long lasting and when it dries down i smell more powdery, sandalwood, and floral notes.

Bold vintage florals, opens fruity & aldehydic on my skin, becomes more powdery and spicy as the carnation, rose, and ylang develop. Gets animalic as it settles, civet definitely makes itself known. Best for a sunny day, cool/cold weather only.

Alas,I was prepared to write words that would carress ur ears but,NO>This fume for all its notes is really just a clean soapy scent,beginning to end.Very light,even with the civet.JUst not much scent at all!

This smells much better after it settles in ur skin.First spray,I couldnt even smell it.It has some lovely notes and would b good for work.I dont think it would take very much either.

Although not a direct review, I would like to know what the age demograhpics of people who should wear this are. I inherited this from my grandmother after she passed but I am not sure that it's a good scent for someone my age

I asked others what would make a nice, "unique" summer fragrance. This was highly recommended so I was excited to try it. However, one light spritz and I found the side of my neck heating up, my chest getting tight, my skin burning and itching. Occasionally, I do get an allergic reaction to perfume. I think civet is definitely one of the culprits. I did not think it was in this perfume, but a careful look revealed otherwise.The perfume literally felt like it was engulfing me...and I do not care for the scent on top of all the other drama. I will be promptly returning. It's already boxed and ready to go back. And yes, it smells like a heavier Cabotine, another perfume that is the equivalent of "Invasion of the Body Snatchers" for me.

Dries to Aldehydes and civet. Nice flowers at the start. I can see a mature and experienced fragrance lover admiring this. It’s too animalic for me.

I just sprayed this after a shower, and so far I'm getting knocked over by the civet. Why is no one mentioning this? What might've been soft and comforting smells like a mad animal, and it's really overpowering me. I'm not even sure at this point I'm smelling the same thing everyone else is. This is not safe. This is not soft. This is not comforting, and doesn't make me think of a warm hug. It smells really well-blended and balanced, but it's just very, very strong, and I sprayed pretty conservatively, as one does with a new fragrance. Very Ysatis in feel. It's a very overwhelmingly oily and animalic floral in the first hour. I'm an hour in, and by the time the civet fades, I'm afraid there won't be much else left. I'll edit in a few hours, but at this point, I cannot think of one place where this might be an appropriate wear until it's very completely dried down. It's been about four hours. It's a skin scent. It took about an hour and a half for the civet to calm down. This has finally reached that "comforting" stage, but unfortunately it's now almost gone. I'll have to try it again. So far, I won't be reaching for it often. Having both this and Ysatis is redundant. Edit: I'm also wondering if this seems somehow "off" because I'm trying it the same day it came in the mail? Could that be part of the problem?

i read the reviews here and became very interested in Touch; so i sought it out lusting for a fragrance which is both beautiful and inexpensive. i admit i even had a few dreams of what it would be like to wear Touch. i finally found touch two days ago and i had to pinch myself when i heard the price; it was so inexpensive i couoldn't believe my ears. when i recovered my composure i said "i'll have" then something spoke into my ears "never buy perfume without testing it first!" so i amended my previous declaration "i'll buy after smelling it". And thank goodness for that because this scent was not what i had anticipated at all. the only notes i detected were peach, carnation and pepper (which strangely enough is not listed as a note. the perfume is not at all bad and the sillage is good but it's also no stunner. however, the deal breaker for me was it's lasting power (at least on me) is very poor: less than an hour. i may give this perfume another try though not anytime soon. thus, the search for the inexpensive perfume beauty of my dreams continues ...

At first, I get the bergamot, lemon, greens, then some sparkly florals, then a bit of clean soapy. Not bad for an EDT, and love the freshness, especially during summer. Uplifting. Feels as if I smell like I’ve got more salt in my veins and energy overall than I actually do, not to mention more recently showered than I actually am. This is still have the towel around you and drying off your ears fresh. Sometimes, that is just precisely what I need. And then when all you have is a skin ghost, it’s a nice one..... not at all sweet or cheap. 273 REALLY works for me, doesn’t morph and mush, lasts as long (maybe 4 hours) as I get from anything except maybe participe passé...... Touch with love is just virtually nonexistent on me, though what I can pick up on isn’t just adolescent and would be fab if it just had even a little pitch. So I like what I know of this brand DNA, esp for the price.

I have been making friends with Touch for five months now, as I pick it up and try it every now and then but do not decide to put it away. On first application it is a bright sunny floral, with the peaches, lemon and aldehydes; there is something sunny in the top notes which never quite disappears, but lingers softly along the drydown. There is just a hint of mouthwatering something (grapefruit-peach?) which renders Touch almost as sunny as Clinique's Happy, but only during the middle notes phase. I get the musk, vetiver and sandalwood, not the vanilla in the drydown. It has overall a dry quality (vetiver,carnation, rose, cedar, tea even if not listed) which holds it at a high standard keeping it away from girlish associations and gives it that crisp feeling (à la White Linen). I consider it to be a bright, crisp perfume very safe for work if not overapplied and good for summer time.

I have not smelled Touch, but I blind bought a bottle of Fred Hayman Personal Selection EDP (comes in a 50 ml heart shaped spray) and from the notes and reviews-- I wonder if this Personal Selection is an early model for Touch? Anyone have insight? I can't find any deets on PS, other than my nose and my tissue test- however many Touch reviews are my thoughts on PS exactly. First a spicy carnation, then powdery rose, soap-like but not SOAPY, dated yes, dries down sweeter with amber/woods, but it never loses that inital spicy floral. Oh, and it def started with aldehydes and peach. And I agree it's Red Door-ish. Alright, gotta sample me some Touch now.

This is gorgeous, but powerful fragrance that I wear only in winter, and especially during the holidays as it smells absolutely Christmas-y to me. If you hose it on, it's could be an in-your-face experience for your neighbors, so it's not to wear to the theater or to crowded resturants, but it's fabulous to go dancing, walking around looking at Christmas decorations, with an appreciative significant other, or just to feel romantic by yourself. ALWAYS worth trying a test vial, trust me. This is a biggie.

Touch is one of the cheapest and classy perfumes in my collection. Definitely highly underappreciated. It really gives me the feeling of uniqueness, sophistication and pleasure. I usually avoid fragrances containing aldehydes, but here they are blended so beautifully with the florals, that I cannot detect any. There are mostly lemon, yellow roses, carnation, orchid and jasmine that brng me such a mood boost and old-money feeling. Love it.

Hubby gave me this when it came out and I still have more than half a bottle. I discovered it in a box of 80s and 90s classics (originals, mind) which I fondly call my treasure box. Anyway, a short time ago I rediscovered this and I could not be happier. Rich, creamy and intense. Just the way I like my scents. I was so delighted that I bought the 273, which I also like, but not as much as this one.

I just ordered this very very reasonably priced! Based on your reviews-(thank you all!!), I want some fall and winter fragrances that will be this season's 'wardrobe'. This would be a 'return to my roots' addition. If this is a 'gentle' Cabotine-(that is what I am hoping for), then bring it ON. I will up date this review when I get the package.

This perfume was an underplayed drama in three acts on my skin: Act I--White Linen (there is a definite similarity here, at least in the top notes); Act II--Deodorant soap; Act III--Something that wasn't quite vanilla, and wasn't quite pepper, with a twist of orange...and then exited stage left almost as quickly as it came.

Laundry soap citrus on me. It's got the benefit of being soapy, crisp, bright and happy,but I really don't want to smell like my laundry soap, so I'll pass on this one. Seems to work better on others, so do test it before you buy the whole bottle.
