Hypnotic Gold

Nose Note #907 I'm not sure it's a dupe of anything, I haven't tested Honey Aoud yet, but this has similar cotton candy + saffron vibe as BR540 does - the part that I love about BR540. Wonderful very subtle touch of orris, but to me it's mostly this cotton candy accord and not much else. I can't call it flat, it's definately on the complex side. Feels exciting, actually. Feels like something new, but nothing groundbreaking. And it very very distantly reminds me of Asad Elixir, the drydown. The opening is terrible and doesn't even smell like a perfume, smells like something outright plastic, it's breaking my brain. But after a minute or so this cotton candy appears and it's amazing. I have a big issue with performance. I just don't really feel it on myself and it's not pushing off the skin a lot. So I'd say it has moderate everything. It's a quiet scent, nothing offensive. But it is somewhat oriental and niche, as is BR540 yet it's a hit. So I'd say if you first like BR540 or even better Arabians Tonka then you are safe here. To me this definately leans feminine (the bottle color is suggestive), but I have no trouble wearing it. 8/10, an easy scent for me, not cloying, but very sweet

Smells good! Not a safe blind buy, but a good intro into heavier fragrances. The dry down is where it shines though, Sweet and Smokey.

The opening smells like a very slutty clown. The cotton candy accord mixed with the cinnamon and honey makes it seem like sultry circus then quickly the cinnamon comes to light and reminds me of an almost sweetened popcorn? Later on when the cotton candy accord leaves the saffron sort of comes to light with the orris to create a smooth and spicy texture still held up by the cinnamon throughout. The bottle even looks like a circus! Overall this is a very interesting perfume that’ll get some wear, but it’s more suitable for the fall or winter to create a sensual cozy vibe. I would also say this is unisex with a more feminine leaning vibe but that doesn’t mean a man can’t pull this off.

Hypnotic Gold by French Avenue is a floriental fragrance perfumed by Olaf Larsen of EuroFragrance. Off the top Hypnotic Gold has a slightly harsh and spicy cotton candy opening that lingers before the emergence of a honeyed floral bouquet with a powdered rose in the spotlight of the heart notes. This fragrance evolves from a spicy, sweet, and powdery floral into a sweet vanilla dry down that compliments the amber undertones. I see this as a niche quality fragrance with a complex note breakdown at a more affordable price.

It arrived today. The bottle and box are insane. The fragrance itself is unisex and very Middle Eastern. Dark, heavy, spicy, mysterious, and almost magical, I also smell something minty. I like it, but there's no cotton candy vibe at all. It reminds me a lot of Shaghaf Oud Azraq, but it is sweeter, more feminine, and refined. Not blindbuy save. Not an office safe perfume at all. Strong projection, mature smell. Definitely makes a statement.
