Artisan Ethnique

☺️😊😍 I’m so happy w/this beautiful fragrance! I only wish that I hadn’t worried about the Rum (boozy) & cinnamon notes that it made me hesitant & kept me from getting Artisan Ethnique sooner bc I’ve been missing out! When it comes to boozy & cinnamon or spice notes **(I also get hesitant about Tuberose—I have two fragrances that have Tuberose that I adore, but also have had to get rid of several fragrances that the Tuberose in them didn’t work for me & made me not enjoy them—so it truly depends on the quality, quantity & I believe most importantly how well blended notes are in a fragrance. Although, if you absolutely dislike a note altogether, none of that might save it)**, it always makes me pause & hesitate w/worry that I might now like it, but this is the second fragrance I’ve gotten this year that has had interestingly enough Rum in them that I love! I don’t believe any of the other fragrances in my collection have other booze notes, so maybe I’m onto something w/Rum 😂, but as a teen I got very drunk on Rum to the point that I still can’t even smell it let alone drink it! I’ll have to wrap my mind around that! Anyways... I have never smelled Sugar Addict which this is supposed to be inspired by or is listed as the top “this reminds me of” fragrance. Actually I haven’t smelled ANY of the fragrances listed as “this reminds me of”, but it does remind me of something I have smelled before, but for the life of me can’t recall what fragrance! On first impression, I would describe this as a creamy sweet, but not overly, heavy, dense or gourmand sweet—it is sweet, but a very pleasantly slightly lighter sweetness. I pick up on a bit of sugar, but more so would say AE is very much more a more cashmeran, vanilla, Tonka bean fragrance with a perfect blend of lesser amounts of Rum, caramel & spice (so well blended that I wouldn’t know it’s cinnamon), sugar, flower (as Labdanum) & some woodiness for added depth & richness w/touch of Oakmoss for added depth & complexity & a subtlety of freshness. To my nose, the cacao & coffee notes don’t stand or jump out & if I didn’t know they were there, I wouldn’t know they were—but knowing they’re there, can definitely see that & appreciate their presence to deepen, enhance & add richness as supporting notes to AE! Overall, this is a very lovely & pleasant fragrance that could be worn for special occasions as well as anytime, but for some it might be preferable to wear at night & is more suitable in the Fall/Winter, but also in milder Summer conditions (probably not in too hot/humid heavy daytime weather) & even though it’s categorized as an “Oriental” Vanilla, it’s not heavy, thick/dense or overly spicy, sweet or boozy at all. So if spicy, cinnamon/spicy &/or boozy notes make you question it & uptight or nervous, I would say, it’s very much worthwhile to take a chance & give Artisan Ethnique a try! I think you’ll be very pleased & pleasantly surprised & happily rewarded by having her to wear & enjoy in your fragrance collection! I’ll have to try to remember to come back & update on longevity, projection & sillage (especially come Fall/Winter when the temps truly dip. Right now, the temps have dropped, but it’s still summery). She was produced in 2024, so I figure aside from moving around & any traveling disturbances, she’s good to go! So I immediately sprayed her on my forearm & that was about an hour or so ago & she’s still wafting to my nose. My dad was immediately able to smell her from about two feet away (& probably would’ve been able to smell her from further away). Also, I think this is probably one of the best sprayers I’ve had on one of my fragrances (including a lot of my other Lattafa’s)! Even my dad noticed & commented on it when I sprayed her!

This is absolutely spectacular! What a glorious scent, as expected after sampling some when it came out last year. For me, Artisan Ethnique is a deep, musky, spicy sweet, well balanced unique masterpiece of perfumery. I love it. Its a darkly sweet unique spicebomb of Arabian ancient scent. For once, all the notes listed are correct. Before even trying this i read the list of notes and knew it would work for me....to me, the combination of notes is like the dream team, the perfect line-up. Coffee, plum, cinnamon, rum, tonka beans, amber, cashmere, musk....thats something i used to hope somebody would finally make so i can buy it....and here it is. I get Persia from this, or a crypt in Ancient Egypt with plum, coffee and sugar and LOADS of delicious musk and incense as a magnificent big fat basenote. Just a total WOW in my opinion. I rarely get so excited about a fragrance but this is just an incredible scent. To me its like a scent of the ancients, the Umayyad of ancient Persia, Ottoman era Constantinople. An old school scent, not like the sixties and seventies, but old school like 661 CE I'd say its unisex but more masculine and would work best for arab or african skin types. Its got elements and similarities with some other Lattafas of this genre, but its absolutley NOT the same, despite the notes and scent profile. I get bits of Teriaq Intense, Khamrah, Khamrah Qawah and Vintage Radio, mostly due to the creamy chocolatey plum and smoky wood. But Artisan Ethnique is out on its own with its own style and i think is the best by far of those 4 which i also tried/own. Its not really like anything else (except many people say Sugar Addict or Commodity Milk which i have never tried so personally can't comment). Needs to sit a while before wearing....maybe 8 - 10 weeks. Now the projection and longevity are excellent, Artisan Ethnique lasts me all day and evening and sticks to clothes massively. Pretty strong even by my standards. Base notes are rich, consistent and set everything else off magnificently, they took 2 whole months to appear. You seriously need to sit this one in a cupboard a while folks to get the best of it. First few weeks it was decent but messy and uneven, sharp and synthetic. Unfinished. It will change over time and get much better, deeper, fuller and infinitely more finely balanced. A lot of Lattafa fragrances work that way and need time. Don't hate it and judge it too soon, when new out the wrapper its not finished yet. 2 months later, she becomes a different experience. Six months later its fully ready to wear and it takes me on a magical carpet ride back through the centuries to the ancients . Probably my best purchase of the year so far. People bitch about Lattafa and its undeniably true they've made some truly awful fragrances, but then again, they've made a masterpiece or two as well. Absolutely one for the mu'minoon 9/10 from me, almost a ten

This has very quickly become one of my very favourites this Fall. I've been considering purchasing it for a while - a few months back I tried out the OG Sugar Addict and quite liked it (it reminded me of freshly baked cinnamon cookies) so Artisan wasn't a complete blind buy. Although it's been a while since I tried the OG and without having it beside me I can't speak if there's any differences between them, but I don't particularly care about that anyway. Artisan is a bit sharp and strong in the opening, I'm guessing it's the rum, and there's a lovely cinnamon in there. I enjoy that too, but a bit later on it becomes soo comforting to me, especially in the Fall now (and definitely in the winter later). It's quite a sweet fragrance and I wouldn't recommend it to someone who doesn't like sweet and/or gourmand scents. But although it's sweet, to me it's never really cloying - I believe the woody and earthy notes keep it from becoming that. Love it so so much! I was concerned if it was too strong and sweet for the people around me so I asked a friend (who I trust a lot about fragrances) and she said it wasn't. She also said it smelled lovely on me, much better than atomizer of the bottle. Be careful of spraying it on your clothes though! The oil concentration is quite high and I accidentally stained a shirt of mine (which I think will be fine after a wash, hopefully). The longevity is moderate, it might be better with maturation or, much more likely, it's just my skin. It was one of the ME fragrances that were good right out of the box. Btw, I also don't really understand when people say here or in social media it's too masculine for them - to me it's quite unisex, maybe even 'female-leaning' and most unisex fragrances I've tried often smelled masculine to me lol. Either way, I can see anyone, man or woman, young or old, wearing this as long as they enjoy it. I tried layering it with other Lattafas as well, so far only with Her Confession and Nebras. Both were pretty good, but the first one was especially comforting - gave me the vibe of cinnamon cookies with vanilla milk (ofc not literally but just a general vibe) lol The price is also very good - I got it for ~28 USD, with Black Friday I've seen it for ~22-23 in my country. Lastly - I wouldn't say it's very similar to Angel's Share but there are some similarities. More second or third cousins than brothers. Angel's Share to me reminds me of apples and cinnamon (like apple pie), while Artisan is "drier" (more "cookies") and more woody and less boozy, if that makes sense. I have a dupe of AS and I enjoy both it and AE, depend on my mood. Doesn't remind me of Khamrah at all, I personally disliked that one (and I expected Khamrah to smell like this and/or the AS dupe, but for reason to me it smelled 95% incense and 5% unidentifiable strong spices).

It's a strong blend of sweet, spicy, boozy, caramel, coffee, vanilla, amber, woody and powdery aromas. Rum, brown sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, coffee and caramel notes are prevalent and are strongest in the opening. They fade out as the mid and drydown becomes more woody and powdery. This is really a gourmand lover's dream fragrance but be aware that it's quite sweet. Those with an aversion to sweetness in their fragrances should avoid. This is unisex, great for cooler weather user and during intimate occasions and date nights. Performance is quite strong. Still, note that the aroma can get lost in environments where you would find the same notes such as a bakery or restaurant or food court. Presentation is a mix of a beautiful bottle and an unnecessarily wasteful double-boxed presentation. Highly recommended, especially for gourmand lovers.

First impressions; First blast is a strong delicious rum, vanilla sugar & cinnamon with hints coffee/woods. Then that morphs into a salted caramel & powdered sugar cakey donut type of smell with coffee, woods & spices underneath (and yes, I get impressions of both salt and even a bit of pepper but somehow it works). And the oakmoss definitely makes itself known throughout the whole journey. Finally settles into a lactonic sugary woody base with all the above notes/scents still lingering. It's quite complex and hard to describe. It's a great example of a earthy and gourmand scent that blends the genres together so well you can't tell were one begins and the other ends. At least that's my poetic way of describing it. lol The spray on my hand not only lasted all day into the next but subtly filled rooms I was in. New bottle but already love this. I think it's better then the Khamrah line(which I still like but yeah, I said it). It's already giving a lot, so I've very curious how much more this will develop in the coming months. Will be back with a more final review then. Edited to add: It's now been over 4 months since ^first impression review and everything I said still stands. This honestly has to be in my top ten fragrances. It's intoxicating. It's performance is outstanding. Highly recommended. But I want to stress that though this is gourmand, it's very definitely mixed with a woody earthiness....so this wouldn't be for everyone. ;) Just want to leave this sentiment. This scent would be in my 10 favorites without question. ;)
