Spicy Amber

Blend 3/5 (Doesn't project) Uniqueness 4/5 (where other recipe usually put wood behind the curtain. This one doing one thing only; wood forward.) Quality 5/5 (Wow, photo-realistic 3D wood!) Spicy Amber is a 3D photo-realistic wood fragrance. It uses camphorous and lighter coloured kind of wood, such as cedar, sandalwood, and palo santo. Makes it a floating breeze to wear in the summer and wearable in all seasons. The scent has a very natural and 3D realistic. It has mellow feel; something like having essential oil on your bedside. It's camphorous and sits close to the skin, with no projection. Although they tries to strechted out camphorous base using sugary sweetness. Yet still the projection comes out very frail and faint. The sweetness can be little bit plasticky scent that saffron can have and also little bit ice cream cone vanilla scented. Without the creamy vanilla type. Unfortunately they really doesn't project. When I dig my nose in, only then I can appreciate the full body of the olibanum, frankincense, and resin. I don't blame them. Which I believe it's very hard to blend resin, especially to make it more volatile to project outward, and liquid enough to work with a pressurized sprayer without clogging them. Compared to other French Avenue fragrance, or other brand out there; I believe Spicy Amber is the best photo-realistic wood I ever smelt.

I picked this up as a long-term replacement for Zara Bohemian Oud, which I typically love layering with bright rose scents. From my initial impressions, Spicy Amber is more syrupy, less chocolatey and slightly more peppery than Bohemian Oud. I would say this is more of a midpoint between the pure spice of Paris Corner Rifaaqat and the sweet syrupy texture of Khamrah DNA. Because of the differences, I'm in the process of re-inventing my layering combos, but I'm finding that chocolate-forward scents pair quite well with this. Riiffs Momento smells very nice when layered above this (it basically turns Spicy Amber into a more full-bodied Bohemian Oud), as does Lattafa Mayar Cherry Intense. A very fun fragrance to mess around with if you enjoy layering, in any case.

I love Matiere Premier Encens Sauve is one of my favourite fragrances of all time. To find a match to it at a fraction of the cost is fantastic. It’s spicy, warm, incense that delivers. Not a loud projection, great skin scent.

I absolutely fell in love with Encens Suave the first time I smelled it but 350 QUID FOR YHE ELIXIR! Found this absolute gem of a dupe and it smells exactly the same! Can’t believe how good the price and the scent is!

Vanilla where? No vanilla in the house so far maybe it needs to macerate? Badass little red riding hood by night in a dark spooky forest brings some rose incense and a bag of cloves and freshly ground pepper to grandma..? That's the image I conjured. A burst of rose infused Greek church incense, way too realistic - I live next door to a major Greek Orthodox temple and now I smell like it. I don't complain, I love unique, realistic and weird scents. Nothing warm and cozy really, just balsamic, very balsamic. I expected a resinous a bit nutty incense or myrrh type of scent like Zara's Feminine Spell or Demeter's Frankincense (which becomes powdery) but there's none of that vibe in this. (Funny but Demeter's Myrrh is piney, fresh and soapy, go figure). I love churchy scents however this is rather cold so far, austere, dark. The rose is rather green at the top, a tad heady, balsamic floral, not powdery tho, and mixed with the incense they create that perfect mature, burning rose frankincense scent that I grew up with in Greece which comes in these small stones/pebbles covered in white dust - they smell powdery, heady balsamic, not always resinous and syrupy sweet. This is not as heady as the actual incense stones tho (I just smelled some to double check). So it's not the chewy decadent scent of some of these resin pebbles (there are many varieties). The incense here smells slightly smoky and heavy as when it's burnt. I don't get an obnoxious fireplace type of burning smell tho. The smoky aspect imo also comes from the dark peppery coffee-cedar and the vetiver being smoky sometimes. I also smell a spicy balsamic cloves undertone within the churchy scent along with the pepper and it's prolly from the rose blending in. That aspect reminds me of the cloves note in Tonka Reminiscence and that's a subtle warm element in this. So the already green rose incense scent is quickly joined by that fresh peppery dark coffee and a piney and woody foresty smell kinda like Harpic Pine toilet cleaner for a minute (real incense usually has a piney undertone as a resin but as a note it usually doesn't have the piney smell unless it's balsam fir. Balsam fir smells heavier tho). Its green piney essence I suspect comes from the cedar being a middle note and the vetiver. Cedar keeps it dry being a middle note and it's responsible for that austere vibe (cedar does that a lot). Cashmere reinforces the balsamic ambery vibe I guess and it does render it a bit smoother progressively. Eventually the piney nuance becomes subtle and the pepper is at the forefront. So the peppery dark accord from the coffee lasts throughout. Very common for coffee mixed with ambery cedar or nutmeg and cardamom notes to come off peppery and spicy as in Risala Pista Kunafa and in Creamy Coffee Abode by The Dua Brand. This is the most mysterious and dark out of these two perfumes and I'm still waiting for that smooth sweet vanilla to show up. Coffee almost always gives me a chocolate scent even in the aforementioned scents (not much in Creamy Coffee Adobe) but here I don't get any chocolate to my surprise. It's a rather masculine leaning at first due to the pepper overload and the piney undertone. No smiles, no cream, no syrup, no vanilla sweetness. It becomes more feminine at the later drydown tho as the piney scent subsides. I like it tho cuz I love green foresty and woody scents and anything incense and resinous. Not crazy anymore over peppery scents however I don't mind it here. This isn't a syrupy resinous scent so far, it's wandering in that smoky piney spicy peppery territory. I'll wait for it to macerate and I'll come back to report. So to wrap it up, it's quite linear while the pepper and piney elements are quite dominant and from start to finish I smell like a Greek Orthodox chapel that burns rose incense in clouds of haze like a hookah bar located in a pine forest.

Spicy Amber opens with a cozy vanilla coffee accord that feels warm and inviting. Not long after, a dense incense note rises to the surface, adding depth and a slightly mysterious vibe. This incense remains the star for most of the scent’s life, while the vanilla coffee lingers softly in the background. As it dries down, the fragrance becomes a more generic woody vanilla—pleasant, but not particularly unique. Performance is moderate, with decent longevity and projection, starting off strong and settling into something more moderate. While it doesn’t reinvent the wheel, for around 20€, one really can’t complain. It’s a solid, budget-friendly option if you’re into sweet, slightly smoky scents with a soft woody finish.

Spot-on clone of Encens Suave. Performance is weak, but that's probably because it needs time to "macerate". Got this to layer on top of Bentley for Men Absolute : since I find this (and Encens suave) too sweet, this kind of layering gives me a stunning semi-sweet churchy intense on a dry woody (rather than vanillic-ambery) base, for 50€ which is an excellent deal.

Opening is bit different than the OG. i get less coffee bere and little more smokiness here. The sourness in the opening lasts longer than the OG which i dont like. Also it projects and lasts less than the OG but for the price the scent is awesome and mesmerizing since i love incence

Ambery smoky body with a hint of incense and a soapy, musky backbone under a vanilla fleece blanket. Sillage and projection are very moderate, but it is a cozy winter scent.

This smells like straight up Olibanum and incense. I don't get anything else. If you have smelled powered Olibanum, that deep resinous slightly sweet and slightly citrus smell at the same time, imagine burying your nose in that, with a whole lot of incense in the air. It's literally what spicy amber from french avenue smells like. Sure, we can sit here and pretend that it smells like cedarwood and vanilla, bluh blah... but it's dumb... Also, spicy amber doesn't project much, it's more of an skin scent and for you to enjoy on yourself. Do no need to worry about smelling like a church to other people. It also lasts about 3 hours. It's a pretty unisex scent, and an uncomplicated one, in my opinion. I don't dislike it. It is what it is and I'm happy that I have a decant instead of a whole bottle. I'm waiting for my sample of encens suave to compare and I will report back.

Extremely Incense to me. It is near all that I get but the paired with a nice fresh cut cedar wood. On my skin it lasted up to 6 plus hours and the box was not bed looking either for a display. If you are for the Incense, go for it.

Hey, I’ve bought 5 French Avenue perfumes so far. Two of them — Aether and Liquid Brun were nice, both in scent and packaging. That’s why I had high expectations for Spicy Amber. But honestly, this one was a huge letdown. Right out of the box, the presentation felt a bit off. The plastic label that says "Spicy Amber" was poorly glued and broke off. Not a great first impression. Now the scent... It reminded me of being in a whisky bar ( not that I've been in one). And not in a classy way. Just heavy and unbalanced. On top of that, the longevity is terrible — it barely lasts 30–60 minutes, and no one even notices it, even with lots of sprays. It feels like the scent doesn't want to be on the skin or clothes, but rather, it just hangs briefly in the air. Even the spray mechanism is bad and cheap.. To be honest, it feels more like a room spray than a personal fragrance. That’s probably the only use I’d consider it for at this point. Maybe to freshen up a room before guests arrive. 😂 Based on my experience, I give this a 1/5. Absolutely the worst perfume I bought so far. Would not buy again. I should’ve listened to my friend who warned me about this one, but the 4.59/5 rating here made me buy it. But now I know.

I bought Spicey Amber for 15 euros on the quick and casual thumbs up from Muneeb at Aromatix. If you take one of the twenty zillion ambre vanille parfum elixirs — qui plaît aux p’tits keums de vingt balais — and amp the dry frankincense, en zappant the smoke and la dose de sucre qui t’explose au nez, you'll get the composed and pleasant Spicey Amber. Merci Muneeb ! A sensible way to add incense - again, not smoke - to another fragrance that you don't want drowned in that popular elixir sauce. I'll find out this summer if it can add a Venetian or Egyptian vibe to summer favourites because it seems promising.

I love the smell of frankincense. It's so comforting and calming. I use frankincense and myrrh essential oils too, so it's a no brainer I love them in fragrance as well. To me spicy amber smells like straight olibanum and frankincense, both resinous and a bit smoky. I don't smell coffee or rose or even vanilla, maybe some musk, but the most proeminent is frankie. The only downside is it doesn't last and its a skin scent. I use it as my bed time scent. I will look into Encense Suave because I think that one should be stronger.

There's a definite blast of alcohol when you first spray it, which tricked me into believing there is no smell at all. So I sprayed another spot and let it settle. As ssaminn described it, it's an incense scent (lemony, cold incense), much like Encens Suave. Nothing more to add to that. Performance seems rather weak, but that's based off of first impressions.

I just received this in the mail. It’s reminding me of oud for greatness off the top. Definitely not as smoky as i was hoping. Waiting to see if the incense pops more later on. Overall not the blind buy i was hoping for. I can tell the performance is mid already. Did about 6 sprays and it seems somewhat faint.

Very relaxing fragrance for this style. Notable for things it is not - not too sweet or smokey. Not too loud or chemical like. Coffee, vanilla, and some chocolate vibe, and rose, and pleasant incense smell without smoke. Yes I get the camphor on the top, and I like camphor, but that note doesn't last.

Mainly incensy (incense before burning), woody and vanillan scent. Very very nice 👌💜. Don't know the OG, but I was searching for an incesy scent for a long time. Done. It's very beautiful, oriental, rich, nichy, class. For Incense lovers and perfume conoisseur it's a must. And it's affordable 😊💜

Smells exactly like my church in the countryside. I do like to sniff this perfume, but I don't wear it. Great longevity, smells powerful. More suitable for a man.
