Vulcan Black Friday

Intro: I love Deified (not as much as Monkey Special though) and was about to pull the trigger on black Friday. However, fragrancebuy listed Vulcan Black Friday edition and knowing it was a clone I decided to pick it up instead. What I get from Deified: People say it is a leathery fragrance, but to my nose that is not the case. I get a tiny bit of suede like leather if I sniff it up close but otherwise not really. What I get is green apple, dark rose, papyrus and a bit of dry cinnamon (not spicy). In the dry down these stay but get toned down a bit and the patchouli and moss comes out more. This is not rose forward, it is a mild dark and damp rose that is supporting the rest of the notes. Also, the sweetness is almost just right for me but a little less would be better. Not too sweet though. If Monkey Special is the singer and guitarist/bassist then Deified is the drummer and keyboardist. Also, a lot of I do not think anyone has talked about papyrus. I tried it in a fragrance called Timbuktu by L'Artisan Parfumeur and liked it. Kind of like old paper, not the modern kind but ones used to make scrolls. Dry, woody, earthy and little smokey and damp. It is definitely there a bit in this but more like an accord than a note since its not exactly like the one in Timbuktu. Comparison: The opening on both is pretty much the same. The difference here is that the green apple in Deified is more prominent and tangy while Vulcan Black has a bit more of that tiny bit of suede. As we get into the mid dry down, the green apple in Vulcan Black becomes a bit stronger and Deified stays the same. Later in the dry down they both become less loud and Deified loses a lot of the tangy nature to the green apple. This is the point at which they are the most similar with the patchouli and moss coming out. Deified still has a bit more of a general green apple but very minor and Vulcan Black has a tiny bit more leather. They are very similar at many points but not 1:1. The differences are so minor that I can't exactly describe them and I imagine that in the air they are the same after the opening. Lets say Vulcan Black is about 95% close to Deified. This is a much better clone than what Mysterium is to Monkey Special. I did not like Mysterium at all, it was quite different. I cannot comment much on the performance. Deified is not as strong or long lasting as Monkey Special. I get maybe 6-7hrs out of it but the scent fades a good amount near that point. However, I did not get a chance to go more than 4 sprays on this DNA yet so its hard to say for sure. This is based on one test spray on two occasions so given that I use 6+ sprays it should last. So far, longevity is similar, but do note that my Vulcan Black has not "macerated" yet and this fragrance just released. They both project pretty well, I can occasionally smell them two feet away from my hands as I am typing this. Outro: I am very happy with this purchase. I still want the original since I love the bottle, but I will wait till I go through Vulcan Black a bit.

Looks like my first ever perfume review will go to this great new fragrance from French Avenue. Might as well, since it is a special one. In short: it is a great dark, mysterious, spicy, leathery, woody and slightly fruity fragrance. Amazing performance. Well worth the price. Get it if you like this type. Not a safe blind buy, but not too "dangerous" either, considering it's not too expensive. Works best in cold weather. Unisex, but leans more male. Scent: 5/5 Longevity: 4.5/5 Sillage: 4/5 Value: 5/5 Detailed version: I own all the other fragrances from the Vulcan line, and the new Black Friday Edition is right up there with them, regarding both scent and performance. I can easily say that this line is among my favorites from F.A. I was lucky enough to have access to it quite soon after it was lunched, as the Dupes.se store was among the first in the world to sell it. At the time of writing this, the perfume is straight from the box, without any maturation/maceration time. I used it for 3 days in a row. It could change a bit in time, but they usually get even better. Performance wise I can say that I am really satisfied. I expected a good performer like the others from the Vulcan line, and I was not dissapointed. It lasted the entire work day, projecting strong for the first 4 hours, moderate for about another 4 hours, after that, becoming a skin scent for another couple of hours. It lasts a bit more on clothes than skin. Scent wise, it is a great dark, bold, mysterious, seductive and addictive scent. It opens up spicy (saffron and a bit of cinnamon) with a bit of apple and leather. After a short while the spicyness tones down a bit, but still lingers, and the leather, patchouli, moss and musk come in complementing the leather and apple. I don't get too much rose from this, but it is there somewhere in the background. Works best during winter and autumn, could work in early spring also. Unisex scent, but leans more male. I didn't test Xerjoff Deified yet, the fragrance Vulcan is supposed to be inspired from, so I can not compare them yet. But enjoying Vulcan so much made me curious about the OG and will test it soon enough. I will come back with edits in case there will be more to say.

I have been looking for this ever since I learned it was selling at Burlington. My nearest Burlington is 90min away so every time I was in the area I had to look for this. I could have bought it online but it was $20 more than at the store. Well yesterday I was in the store scanning the shelves, and sad that I couldn't find it. That was until I saw a a black box and the words French Avenue. The box was out of the plastic bubble(which is why I couldn't see it I was looking for the plastic box) and torn up a little. I picked it up and saw it was what I've been looking for, so I snatched it under my arm and went to checkout. It had been returned already at least once so I asked the boss to cut me a deal, and she did I paid $30 instead of $35. YES success! I'm sure that whoever bought this before was influenced by Tik Tok, and ended up hating it. I bet that happens a lot with Vulcan Black actually. I have to wonder if they ever even really sprayed it on skin or actually gave it a full wearing? Anyway this is an awesome rose, and leather fragrance. Being wrapped in it's scent bubble is great. It is hard to compare this to anything else. The leather is very dark, earthy, and to my nose oily. However the rose is a little bright, and sweet. It also smells very clean in an old school soap kind of way. I guess if I were to compare it to any other fragrances it would be Ombre Nomad, or Ombre Leather, but probably darker with a more middle eastern rose. Vulcan Black Friday definitely lived up to my expectations. I keep smelling it in the air and on my skin, and it smells so freaking wonderful.

It's a grey day and the buildings echo it. A man in an old weathered, scuffed leather trenchcoat sits under a faded red Coffee Shop sign nursing a large mug of thick, black coffee and he reaches for a Baltic cigarette. A couple of young men are having a heated argument across the way that keeps fluctuating between toe to toe and distant determination as friends try to separate the two. He finishes his coffee and lights another cigarette and something glints in his peripheral vision. One of the protagonists has pulled a knife. He gets to his feet wearily, gathers up his cigarettes and newspaper and leaves. He's seen too many deaths through the sights of a sniper rifle in a bitter conflict that lasted 3 years but lives in his head forever. This is brutalist architecture in a bottle : harsh, uncompromising and unnatural but you have to be impressed with it's beauty because of its sheer presence. Saffron gives the leather note and it sits on top of bone dry patchouli. The apple is as fleeting as the flash of the knife blade and the rose hides under the dust and ashes. A very well put together fragrance but I don't feel this is close to Deified to call it a clone. When to wear it? Anywhere you want to be taken very seriously.. I wouldn't wear it in the summer. Gets quite close to Cuoium but this one calms down eventually whereas Cuoium will keep kicking your ass hard for days. I just wish they had gone a bit heavier with the rose.

Nose Note #834 I was expecting something else, but what I got surpassed by expectations. I'm also surprised that this is being rated so high. It is NOT for everyone and I'd say it requires some olfactory experience to appreciate. This is a very special leather scent. I haven't gone through very many (as you can see by the index number), but I haven't smelled anything half similar. I imagine Montale could have created something like that - it's like Arabians Tonka, but with a heavy leather note and with subdued sweetness. It's hard to say whether this is sweet at all, at least for me. What I can say - this feels super dry. Very very dry leather, noticeable saffron (similar to saffron in PdM Haltane), the rose feels a little earthy and quite natural. Very deep, complex scent for leather lovers. You definately have to be a leather enthusiast to fully enjoy this. After mentioning Haltane I now can't throw this reference away. They are somewhat similar, but Haltane is very sweet. In that vein you could also mention Oud for Greatness with its super rubbery saffron. But what quality! I really like it personally, just like I really like Oud for Greatness and Arabians Tonka, for example. 8.5/10, leather is far from one of my favourite notes, but I really enjoy this one

This is my favourite scent. I’ve got a bit of a rocker vibe—always in black, tattoos, the whole look. I blind bought this because I’m a big Black Sabbath fan and Tony Iommi is one of my guitar heroes, and I know it’s a dupe of “Deified”. The black snake bottle looks absolutely badass though. It’s a French Avenue extrait. I’m not a fan of Monkey Special—it smells a bit like urine to me. I’m also looking forward to trying Veneno, another French Avenue extrait in a black snake bottle, inspired by a “smoking hot” by Killian. The fragrance itself opens dark, spicy, and fruity, then settles into a rose-leathery heart before drying down into an earthy, woody-musky base. It has that balance of brightness, elegance, and dark depth. Performance is beast mode—around 12–18 hours, with strong projection up to 5 feet, and it lingers on clothes for days. I’d rate it 10/10. I do get that “burnt rubber” note people mention in the opening, but after about 20 minutes it lifts and blends into the composition, adding a slightly charred edge that actually works really well. It reminds me of fragrances like Black Afgano, Laudano Nero, No. 88, Encre Noire, and Van Py Rum. If anyone knows similar dark, gothic-style, beast-mode fragrances, I’d appreciate recommendations.

I have not smelled the OG yet. Never had the chance & was reluctant to blind buy, but after smelling Vulcan Black I want to try Deified more than ever. But this fragrance, although it is a clone...BANGER. Dark, sensual, seductive. Comforting in a way...a macabre way. A bold explosion of spiced sweet Apple sets the tone for what follows - a strong and dominant note of Leather, accompanied by a slightly soapy and metallic take of a Rose note. (I personally cannot find the Cinnamon) The dry down (to me at least) seems to come as an additional layer to the heart, adding depth, darkness and earthiness from Patchouli and Moss. A subtle fluffiness comes from what I assume to be the Musk. The Papyrus is probably in there as well, but I will come back to that after a few more wears. Personal ratings: Scent - 9/10 Performance - 9/10 Price - 10/10 (keeping in mid the OG is 50ml and Vulcan is 100ml) Second bottle on the way. For £40 you're definitely in for a treat with this one. Not to mention how even the bottle looks good and very qualitative.

Vulcan Black is about as close to Tony Iommi Deified by Xerjoff as it gets. This isn’t an interpretation it’s a near 1:1 replica, especially once it settles. Blind test it and most people won’t spot the difference. The opening brings a quick hit of spice, but the star of the show is the leather-rose core. The leather is dark, dry, and smoky not sweet, not polished while the rose adds a subtle, shadowy smoothness that keeps it from going harsh. It’s bold, masculine, and dramatic without being loud. The dry-down leans earthy and musky, reinforcing that worn-leather-after-midnight vibe. While the OG may edge it out slightly in longevity, Vulcan Black is right there. On skin, the difference is barely noticeable, with solid projection and strong staying power. Bottom line: Deified DNA, serious leather presence, and absurd value for money. If you want the scent without the Xerjoff price tag, this is a no-brainer. Not signature scent worthy, but definitely a 9/10

Jesus, don’t blind buy lmao unless you love leather. It’s very reminding of Tom ford fucking fabulous in the sense that this is for the most part a fragrance nobody will want to wear. Stupid heavy leather very strong and very manly. This is what I would imagine a Hells Angels boss would smell like. I get nothing other than strong leather I was hopping it would open a bit like a leathery BR 540 with the saffron but to no avail. I’m 18 and 100% cannot pull this off. Maybe when I’m 30 and have a full beard with a leather jacket and a Harley to match then I’ll be able to pull this off. Edit: this stuff lasts 12+ hours on skin. Once it’s a skin scent it’s way more soft and I can smell the opening notes which is weird but I get a saffron apple leather. Now it’s something I could definitely rock. The first 2 hours is ridiculous tbh but after it becomes very smooth

I was extremely hesitant to purchase this, at first. I have Fue and Sable and found those very good. But the leather and saffron combo was turning me away from Black Friday. But my local Burlington just kept stocking these time after time, seeing them again and again. I finally purchased. I must admit, the opening was horrid. Smelled like burnt bandaids. But towards the late mid, and all of the drydown, this began to take on a very old school masculine, mossy, soapy, clean, barbershop, powdery smell. With slight hints of the apple, saffron, and rose still there. I was hooked. Went from a dislike to a love in about an hour or so. The dry down, so clean and confident, is where this shines. Don't judge it from the top notes. The latter transformation of this scent is where it performs.

This is one I got bought for Christmas 2025, completely blind bought. I went into this blind, sort of praying that it was the leather fragrance I had imagined it was in my head, and thankfully it pulled through Earthy. Dark. Florally. That's all there is to say The fragrance doesn't change much throughout for me, it stays this absolutely beautiful mossy earthy leather fragrance with that bright rose that goes all the way through, I'm gutted this is limited edition, because this is a gorgeous powerhouse of a fragrance, they've done the original some justice and then some! As well as the scent being beautiful, it's actually one of my most complimented! Especially with the biker get-up on! 10/10 for me. I adore this type of fragrance with every ounce of my being.

I bought this fragrance blind and I’m not disappointed. It’s not my absolute favorite, but I definitely like it. It’s unusual, very rough and dark. The apple and cinnamon are noticeable only a little in the opening and mostly in the background. After that, leather really dominates, with a soft hint of rose behind it..Although some people say that it isn’t suitable for younger wearers, I disagree. The fragrance is dark and intense, but it’s not limited by age – it really depends on personal style and preference. I’m 24 and wear it alot, even at work, and I still enjoy its full intensity and character. This is definitely not a safe blind buy. The packaging is really beautiful, and both longevity and projection are quite strong. Overall rating: 8/10.

Just got this and im honestly really impressed, just imagine a realy nice red rose with some soapy ( but not too soapy by any means) incense wich ik isn’t listed as a noat but im assuming it comes from the musk and the moss or leather , along with a light bitter (in a good way) apple smell, it’s really pretty i love it , might be my favorite thing to come from French Avenue, as far as vibes go this is NOT blind buy safe , make sure ur at least a lil alt before picking this up , i can’t really imagine a basic person wearing this its especially good for more of that emo metal grungy style, witch is perfect for me but i can definitely see people getting turned off by how dark it is over all i think it’s perfect tho 10/10 for me !

This is a very good clone after 2 months of maceration. Having given it two initial wears I found it like a darker, smoothed out version of Mysterium by Paris Corner which is a clone of the original Tonny Iomme and not deified. After letting this one sit for two months, I am amazed at how much darker the scent is, but even more than that how much stronger it is. This stuff is just as strong as Savauge Elixir for comparison, just a much darker and smoother profile without the same kind of spice. They smell nothing alike, but they do perform the same! So AFTER MACERATION, I give this an 8.5 out of 10, before it would have barely been a 5. So it definitely makes a difference in this one!!!

Very good mature leather, rose and saffron smell. This is a 30+ man with a suit that's out for some drinks with colleagues or a good night date on an expensive restaurant. It gives you the confidence that you are an accomplished man. I get 8 hours on skin projecting heavily the first 2 hours. On clothes i could still smell hints of it 3 days later. You need to let it macerate for 1 month because the leather smells very synthetic and heavy when you first open it. After 1 month the leatheriness smooths out and the saffron and rose come forward. Overall its a 9/10 winter leather fragrance for me and worth the buy compared to the insane price of the xerjoff it copies.

This is a really good copy of Deified. 95% similarity. In the opening in punches you with saffron, rose and a bit of apple. As this dries down it becomes a saffron-leathery scent that is very powerful. It is not a safe blind buy, and not an office scent. This is a more elegant, sophisticated scent that i see a more mature guy wearing. Nonetheless, if you like deified, you really should get this, as the smell is pretty much the same, and performance is even better than the original, and i expect it to get even better as i let it sit for a few months. Smell: 7/10 Longevity: 8/10 Projection: 8/10 Price: 9/10 (based on purchase price of 43 euro for 100ml bottle)

WOOOW! Amazing scent. Amazing price, amazing package. For 50$ it is a very good quality. So the scent is so sexy. Green apple with rose and very strong leather notes. Not a safe blind buy. It's really unique. Try it before buy it, totally not a safe blind buy. I can't say more. It's sexy. So f*cking manly and unique. My rating: Scent: 8,5/10 -Too masculine in the beginning but then become sweeter and better when it dryed down: 9,5/10 Longetivity: 6-7 hours and for the price it's worth it 9/10 Silage: 9/10 Amazing Package and the bottle 10/10 Overall 9/10 Worth to buy but not a safe blind buy soooo TRY IT BEFORE U BUY IT!!!!

My son got this as a present and at first spray i got a strong expensive dark leather cinnamon and rose. I thought wow might be too strong for him but after a few days it feels like it’s going to settle beautifully after maturing for a while especially the dry down. I did spray this in my leather purse and probably spray in my leather coat because it’s makes it feel like a luxury item in Neiman Marcus . Because I do love rose, leather and papyrus. And I have a favorite candle with these notes . This is just a beautiful fragrance on any man that creates a nice scent bubble especially the dry down.

Leather, saffron, and rose, with hints of fruit are what I notice the most. It starts out a little harsh as an absolute leather bomb, but then settles within 10-15 minutes to a really nice rosy, fruity, leathery, saffron. Goes from very dark to playful, but still holds the dark leather notes. I notice the saffron more in the drydown. It took me a day or so to get used to but I really love it now. It’s like a much more toned down version of Montale’s Black Oud without the oud. Projects well and lasts quite a while. I’m curious now to try the original.

I got this recently and 100% agree with the review below! On initial spray I got a weird alcohol and synthetic accord..but as it settled, wow! Though not identical, the first fragrances I thought of were... VC & A Pour Homme and a dash of Chanel Antaeus. Very much in that vein the way the rose and dark leathery nuances and florals compliment each other. Masculine and serious. Great longevity and performance. Some aromatic leather and petrol and some tart green apple and woods. Very impressed!
