Jacarandá 2016 Edition

A simple deep woods scent. Most Fuegeia scents are natural linear explorations of ingredients and this is no exception. The perfume combines the deep woody tones of rosewood and mahogany with slight coniferous elements of spruce. The result is a deep woody exploration that feels like sitting in fine antique hand carved woodwork furniture. The masculine leaning scent has moderate sillage and projection and good longevity. Review about edition Jacarandá 2016 Edition Fueguia 1833. Another old version is VERY different, another perfume. "Flowers of jacaranda fall behind the misted window. An arpeggio played on a nineteenth-century guitar makes the beautiful silence disappear." Note from the official Fueguia 1833 website. Don't be deceived; there are no flowers in this room. Not on the skin either. There's a soft pine bark. Bark that secretes sticky resin. It drips down, becoming amber. Pine cones, both young and old with open scales revealing seeds. Moss covering the trunk and roots of this tree. Even on a sunny day, it's dark, dense, and cool here. A piece of a pine forest hidden in a bottle. It can be as hospitable as it is impassable. Forest from different sides! Sometimes in the heat, you can hear lacquered precious parodies of trees, such as rosewood and mahogany. Most likely, it's a musical instrument or a protective charm taken into the pine thicket. Jacarandá 2016 Edition Fueguia 1833. It's undoubtedly comfortable for both work and leisure, but something is missing for me. However, the old version has everything I need - I'll write about it later."

This is fantastic! However it is not for those who are not heavily into woody scents. I don’t find it to be loud or crazy or anything like that. If anything it’s a little too quiet for my taste. It does remind me of Bowmakers by DS Durga. I feel that the opening to Bowmakers is easier to understand than this as they are both going for the same creative idea. The dry down here though is one of a kind in my experience. It smells of the most beautiful fresh cut wood. Not any Home Depot wood or anything like that. I love that smell too, but this is a resinous and sap laden red barked tree being hand planed the day it was cut.

I concur with grimnir’s discription of Jacaranda. It is spot on. I got a 50ml bottle recently with batch number I-XXII. I also got confused about the description on Fueguia’s website. Which flowers.. and which mist. I think it is the most hard core dark wood scent that I ever came across. I get vibes of colonial teakwood furniture and wafts of gasoline. It is quite potent, even a bit harsh. It is good and natural but that varnished wood note is perhaps not my cup of tea.
