Quilombo

Oh man I love this fragrance. I got a sample from lucky scent that I was being very frugal with... which is always a sign that I should just get q bottle... But with Fueguia’s price point, I think it’s good to be sure that the fragrance is truly a must have.... And for me this one is a must have. I even tried some of the other fragrances listed here to see if I could find something cheaper that got close... not possible. This is sweetened condensed milk to a T which I think you can find elsewhere... but there is also something extremely sexy and pheromonal about it to my nose, that is not so easy to replicate. It’s linear and simple, but Quillombo is so comforting and creamy and mmm just perfect. It’s also sophisticated... like not just a sweet young gourmand. It was stuck in my mind. When I was trying other fragrances in my collection I kept thinking about it and wishing I had it on. Needless to say I finally decided to splurge and get a bottle before winter is over. Now I douse myself in it like it costs nothing (I wish). Haha. It’s also got a decent longevity on me. This is for a cozy day in with a book and tea. I personally think it actually has a masculine lean to it, but it’s certainly a unisex fragrance. If you like creamy fragrances, you must get your hands on a sample.

Interesting reading others’ take on this one. I only have a 5ml decant. What I get at the first spray is a syrupy tropical drink: like a pina colada with strong rum, but with predominant mango mixed with the coconut. Not sure if these are actual unlisted notes or if the caramel is just so dense that it gives off a fruity aspect to my nose. I’m reminded of other tropical scents I own, like Ambrosia Imperiale or Butterfly Mango Sticky Rice. I think if you overspray this, you could feel sick. For me, 2 sprays from my decant is potent. I wouldn’t mind owning this but it’s pretty spendy, and because I have others that are similar will probably pass on a full bottle. This is lovely, though.

this one is a hard one to pin down. without checking the composition/ingredients list, i would be inclined to believe that this had if not one then two or more white floral elements. it reminds me a little of 'welcome december' by ASAQ; that said, the presence of sugar/caramel 'vibing' with the milk is creating the white floral accord, or perhaps something like that. my wife just smelt and immediately picked up the vanilla-creaminess. yup. it's me that's off. anyway, something to really try. i am getting that burnt vanilla vibe coming through, i must say. just no cream or vanilla. it's me.

Love, love, love this one. To my nose this smells like salted caramel and freshly buttered popcorn in a bottle. The salty acquatic Fueguia base blends so well with the caramel and milk to create the note of "dulce de leche". The burned milk note on the Fueguia 1833 website is listed as "Pampa milk", which I think is a vegetal interpretation of the prosperous ranch industry from the grassy Argentinian lowland. Very evocative and cozy. 12hr+ longevity. This is one of the most interesting gourmands I've smelled. Saving up for a big bottle.

Don't be fooled by the paucity of notes; there is much more going on here than milk, vanilla, caramel and sugar. It is a complex fragrance, that is sweet, green and floral. That so few have mentioned the floral and green notes surprises me. I cannot identify the source of the green note, but it works so beautifully with the other ingredients. Sillage is moderate, but longevity is quite good; three sprays from a sample have lasted the entire day. I am certain I will buy a full bottle; it's gorgeous.

OMG I have just re-bought this as a sample, and OH MY STARS this is such unabashed milky-creaminess right here! On a bit of milk/butter/cream kick at the moment, so I thought I'd try this one out again, and this (like many times in my life when I've gone 'too far') is an example of one-upping myself. This is just too creamy! It smells edible/drinkable! Milky and a little fruity sweet. Cruz del Sur II in a different direction. Great to smell, probs not great to wear...

Trying this via a sample on Luckyscent. This is very nice honestly, it’s like a milky sweet, has a slight hint of something like oats to me or some neutral “bland”grain/plant note. It’s not overly sweet whatsoever , it’s very pleasant and wearable. I would get a full bottle if the price was a bit more reasonable or at least more obtainable . Anyone know similar out there ....?

This smells very very similar to sweetened condensed milk, but has a very tiny hint of something fruity or even green in the background (but it’s barely there). It’s similar to Chabaud Lait Concentre. When comparing the two, I’d say Lait Concentre is sweeter, thicker in texture and the milk note is more prominent.

Bought this one with J pheromone ; And omggg this is a “dulce de leche “ scent . Like a very lactonic caramel , I layered with J pheromone musk ; it’s supposed to react with your skin the combination was an explosion of deliciousness ; can’t get enough

Still think this is a beautiful gourmand as someone who typically doesn’t like gourmand. It’s just a sweet milky grain scent done really well. Doesn’t have any cheap musky crap in the background. Makes me curious to try more from this house

I love the smell of this. Condensed milk with caramel and sugar

Quilombo is a very niche scent. It will not be for everyone for sure. It is very very lactonic and sweet. The best way that I can describe it is it smells like milk and skin, but in a very good way. It’s weird, but also very addictive. Definitely not for everyday and very not blind buy safe. I have very cool skin and am able to ware it all year around, but I think it would be most appropriate in fall and winter for most people. I also find it to be a creamier version of Mbucuruyabut in the mid and drydown. The opening of Mbycuruya is much fruitier.

From my decant sample and on my skin, this smelled exactly as it is described: first the milk, not 1% refrigerated, pasteurized, homogenized, but warm and just brought in from the barn milk. Slowly it evolves into a luscious caramel, cue the vanilla to support the caramel and it is bliss, the dry down is interesting in that the last discerned note smells like white sugar on my skin. I find almost no sillage, definitely a skin scent, and sadly it is all over in 3-4 hours. At itś price point, itś a scent Iĺl enjoy until the sample is gone.

A delicious lactonic gourmand scent that recalls the aura of caramelized desserts like creme brûlée or dulce de leche. The scent opens with notes of condensed milk and moves to a heart of caramel and vanilla before settling on a base of sugar and plant based musk. This is a simple unisex scent with moderately strong projection and longevity and a dessert like vibe from start to finish. Must have a sweet tooth to appreciate. Enjoy!

Intensely sweet milk caramel. As it opens, there is a fleeting hint of perfectly ripe, fresh plums — but only for a moment. Then comes milk iris, milk caramel, and the scent of melted, ultra-sugary caramel ice cream or condensed milk. A true delight for a true gourmand.

Smells like buttered popcorn with a sprinkle of milky-creamy caramel on my skin. It’s a very soft and gentle smell. I need to try this in the Summer months, maybe it’ll smell stronger?

The notes are certainly misleading for me, because I smell a strong floral here that I can’t quite place. It reminds me of the Mixed Emotions perfumes that I wore as a teen. Sadly, a scrubber.

Weird and chewy. It reminds me of a chewed strawberry cewingum, rubber and a bit of smoky caramel in the opening. Lactonic, plastic, fragrant and difficult to digest,.. but not indigestible.

Quilombo was one of the few perfumes I've had to scrub off my skin. I was hoping for a nice milky caramel scent but instead I got something sweet and almost yeasty. It was like pouring a cup of sugar into a glass of warm milk and active dry yeast and letting it sit at room temperature for a good eight hours. It was fine from a distance where more of the caramel and vanilla projected off my skin but up close the smell was a bit nauseating. I will admit that milk is a difficult note and can often come off as sour or bready to my nose. The longevity on this is likely pretty good since I could still smell it after scrubbing my skin twice. If you also have trouble with milk notes I would recommend testing this first as the milk note is fairly dominant.

Unfortunately this was like milk that's gone off on my skin! I recommend thier "Huemul" instead, which they also describe as lactonic, and is more of a musk skin scent. To be fair though, it was a very hot, humid summer day (32+ humidity, ick) when I tested this, and I suspect it would perform much better in cooler weather.

Tried this in winter. It feels fruity and lactonic, which is not good combination. Will try it in warmer weather. Otherwise pass for now.

Milk and vanilla, not overly sweet, but with a strange marine note. Chabaud does this so much better.

Unexpectedly it’s probably the most disgusting perfume I ever tried. And I’m an owner of stinky ouds and controversial Alessandro Gautieri’s fragrances. This is awful in another way though. It opens nicely, for one second being a gorgeous shot of Bailey's with biscuits. Bur right after, Bailey’s is gone and I’m left with some very disturbing fleshy scent. I would describe it as a mix of spoilt whey and a rotting raw egg with some flesh in it. I can’t stop thinking of rennet and the whole process of dairy products processing and slaughtered calves. And then there’s this strange marine note which makes the whole thing even worse. Typical stinky scents are just synthetic and they are actually harmless clumsy weirdos. This one is a true psycho, very raw, very real. I expected a soft gourmand, I got a slasher horror. I really want to unsmell it.

The name belies what the scent actually evokes. Quilombos were enslaved African people who resisted their European colonizers, like the Maroons did in the the Caribbean. So I was expecting a scent that was a little bold and fierce. Something with strange spices, pepper or leather that would evoke warriors, a force to be reckoned with. Instead, I got a very subtle, slightly gourmand skin scent with no projection that forces you to nuzzle your nose into your wrist to experience it and what you get is the comforting scent of the soft fuzzy head of a newborn baby that a mother has just nursed. Strangely, for those familiar with the polarizing scent Secretions Magnifique (I happen to like it), Quilombo is similar to what that scent dries down to when all of the "scary" notes disappear...a soft milky floral. On me, it disappeared in just over an hour.

I love milk in perfume, as well as vanilla, caramel and the like. I have tested nearly every milk perfume available, like Crema di Latte by Hilde Soliani which is a sugary slightly sour and realistic milk, Lalao by Zeromolecole which is much warmer and more buttery, Milkshake by Malizia which is a sweet white musk, Lait Concentre by Chabaud Maison de Parfum which is very weak, but still a little reminiscent of milk. I have sampled this a few times now and must say I'm puzzled. It starts as a slightly marine, masculine scent. It has a bit of sweetness to it as well, that I guess could be attributed to the listed notes if you're being generous, but the scent is so overly reminiscent of a softly ozonic mens cologne. Also, very expensive. You might still like this perfume, but the notes are way off.

I like this. I need to let it sit on my skin longer but the first impression is definitively milky caramel with a bit of burnt sugar - creme brulee comes to mind. I do get what others have mentioned when they say a bit of an ozone or marine note, but this may be the "sharpness" of the burnt sugar I'm getting. This is definitely different than milky scents such as Chabaud's Lait Concentre, Comptoir Sud Pacifique's Lait Sucre/Matin Calin, Zeromolecole Lalao, etc. which remind me more of condensed milk. After a few minutes this develops almost a sandalwood accord on my skin, interesting. I'd purchase the 50 ml size, so far I like it.

Let's clear this out because Sophiesmystery is kind of lost when it comes to the way things are in Argentina. In River Plate Spanish "quilombo" means "a mess". The original meaning of the word has been lost. And La Cautiva (The Captive) is a story by Esteban Echeverría, a romantic writer from the XIX century. It tells the story of a woman kidnapped by natives - yap, those things happened down here in the XIX century and someone wrote about that.

Oh gourmand gods you have smiled upon me! This smells exactly like sweetened condensed milk. Who hasn’t wanted to poor a can of sweetened condensed milk all over their body. No? Just me? Haha! Seriously though, this is heavenly I don’t know how daily wearable it is but I would wear it to bed on my arm to cuddle myself to sleep. dreams of unhealthy desserts piled to the ceiling, in a room of gold, in my dreams.

I haven't tried Quilombo, although I'm really curious and here's why: Quilombo in colonial Brazil referred to the slaves' gatherings and their resistance to the oppression. However, Fueguia is an argentine house, and the word quilombo only has two meanings as far as I know: "brothel" and "fucking mess". So whether it smells like a hooker or a mess, I'll give it a try haha

It starts with sour strawberry and green nuances (some might say pineapple, a Dynascone-like nuance) gradually turns into the caramel scent, and finally reaches to the smell of condensed milk. It's not surprising that someone might notice the scent of rotting meat - the lactonic scent ingredients used in condensed milk flavors are also used in meat flavors.

There’s something sharp & I want to say green in here. Maybe it’s the aquatic notes people are talking about. Idk but it’s def not what I was expecting out of this fragrance. I luckily only bought a sample (Luckyscent). I’ll have to give it some more tries & see what I think.

I like it. Unusual. From their website- Historia - Quilombo is an African word for the secret places where slaves would gather; the sounds of African drums are the basis of South American music; roots; freedom; resistance.

Well said, Matux! Fueguia uses a lot of literary references, books, poems, authors.... It’s not whitewashing anything, it’s simply a nod to Argentine and porteño literature. What a mess haha

Like @sandy991 said it's very fresh in a green way upon first sniff. Like a leaves after a rain - misty. It's like eating cereal in the rainforest while the dew is still on leaves.

I love it. A very yummy scent with a thick, milky sweetness. It keeps a linear narrative throughout its scent life. Lovely and delicious.

Cloying, thick & sticky condensed milk. Like the real thing it’s too much for my stomach - 2/10
