Sterling

I love this fragrance. So much. I just wish it would last longer and project more. F&R tells me they're working on making a spray version and if/when they release it, I'll be buying several bottles.

Acquired one of Fulton & Roark's sample sets as I wanted to try this one specifically. I was intrigued by the concept of being a solid cologne form as opposed to an aerosol where it is harder to control how much and where the cologne goes. (I miss the days of splash colognes.) I was intrigued by the potential leather scent, but alas, I never could sense any leather. In fact, the overall scent is quite weak. One has to get up quite close and personal to be aware one is wearing it and it does not last very long. It left a bit of a greasy feeling, like an applied deodorant. While it had a nice scent, I am afraid it is not much notable to myself or anyone nearby. The scent is more of a sweet vanilla that has been toned down by adding a smokey sense to it. Really wanted to like this one, but so many more colognes that have a better impact than this one does.

I love tobacco scents but this smells like an actual ashtray.

I have seen Fulton & Roark products sold before in specialty men’s shops and I’ve always been impressed with their quality and presentation. They carry solid, oil and liquid fragrance, deodorant and bar soap in 13 fragrances. The solids fragrances come in a heavy, metal container that you can replace the scents out in. Sterling solid fragrance with notes of tobacco, leather and vanilla - This starts off smelling like a sort of campfire ash, not an active fire but you can smell a hint of the embers hanging around. It’s dense and I’m not getting any sweetness from the vanilla. But in the drydown I smell an antique, worn-in leather couch with a man cutting a cigar on it. It becomes a sweet tobacco scent but not a burnt one and the vanilla came out more. This one is largely a skin scent.

I believe it would be better suited to a candle or car scent than as a fragrance. At the beginning, I felt the vanilla was too sweet and feminine. But as it continues, it gives off the Dark Rebel vibes (as someone seems to have tagged).

It’s a quiet masculine scent, as the notes would indicate, and it is what it is in that regard. I just find it has basically no performance.
