Unsettled

This is such a lovely fragrance. I got it as part of a sample, with Feu Secret and AU DELÀ - NARCISSE. I took the jump and bought a full bottle of Feu Secret. Actually I was very cautious in buying it. I kept AU DELÀ - NARCISSE, Feu Secret and Unsettled on my desk next to my computer for a week and every damn day I would spray and see how I liked each of these three. I did not relate to AU DELÀ - NARCISSE which I reviewed on Fragrantica. But Unsettled, whatever is in there, was in a running contest with Feu Secret to see which full bottle I would buy as I love them both. The notes in Unsettled are these: Bergamot, black tea, clary sage, pineapple, New Caledonian sandalwood, labdanum, vanilla, ocean breezes. I'm a sucker for every one of these notes, especially tea, sandalwood and labdanum. The addition of the citrus notes in Bergamot and Pineapple gives this a fresh, brisk, angle. And Labdanum is that diaper creme smell that hearkens back to childhood and with vanilla is gives a warm, motherly, gourmand note to the mix. Fzotic (Bruno F) has such a unique way of blending his creations, and I would say they are on the whole rather a happy, joyous group of scents, uplifting, smiling, bright and weird but weird in a way that is not dark, brooding, sad, disjointed. They are full of joy for life and Unsettled has the same effect on me. And his aesthetics, the colors, packaging, and really the care he puts into his work are what pushes it over the top as a collectible product.

I got a sample of Unsettled as an extra sample included in the portfolio set that Bruno Fazzolari offers on his website. I was initially interested in Lampblack, but Unsettled has become my favorite of his fragrances. If I had to go with only one fragrance for the rest of my life, Unsettled might be my choice. The sandalwood and other scents work together to create an incredible fragrance. I often go weeks switching off between Unsettled and Room 237. It is strong enough to stay with you all day and is enjoyable every time you get a smell of it.

This is an aromatic and slightly sweet marine fragrance. It opens with fresh sage and a hint of fruitiness coming from the pineapple. The pineapple isn’t super strong but I don’t mind. Then you get a wink of vanilla in the background and a lot of black tea as the scent develops. It feels like a freshly aromatic cup of tea with a splash of sweet fruitiness to it. The dry down becomes a bit sweeter, warmer and smoother with some sandalwood, labdanum and more of that vanilla. This blend of notes is really interesting but in a way that works.

Mmmm I love! A tropical coastal scent that stays interesting.... pineapple sweetness not too sweet, marine notes and a little woody.

There’s a note that smells like melted ice cream thats been sitting in the sun in July, all day. A sour sweet cream/lactonic + metallic/ozonic note on my skin. It’s not so terrible that it stinks, but it’s “unsettling” and weird. I think it’s the vanilla and marine note s making it smell like sour ice cream. Literally spent all day trying to decide if I like it or not. It’s so weird. I don’t love it. I think I would like it if the marine note was something more subtle like an ozonic leaning petrichor than a more marine scent . Idk.....I realize now it’s the marine that clashes with the vanilla) and pineapple, even). Just like ice cream, it smells creamy and somewhat sweet until I get the sour note. My body chemistry just doesn’t like this one and I’m shocked cause that rarely happens. Update: The sour note finally went away after an hour and I was left with a beautiful creamy sandalwood. I’m going to revisit this sample spray in a few months to see if imy mind changes.The sour has turned into a more subtle ozonic—almost metallic—note and it’s stopped clashing with the vanilla. I like this and it would be perfect if I didn’t get the sourness first hour in.

Bruno Fazzolari Unsettled, while being an intriguing mix that doesn't seem to belong in any genre initially, is dominated by the black tea note that soothes and provides a cooling, semi-acidic, semi-fresh comfort. Pineapple and bergamot add fresshness while clary sage provides just a hint of dirtiness, and the dry down of sandalwood, vanilla, and labdanum is a creamy pillow on which the rest lands in its base. It's a fresher tea experience than Imaginary Authors O Unknown but not as fresh as, say, Creed Silver Mountain Water. Performance is average, probably leaves a little to be desired for the price point ($110 for 30ml) but certainly lovers of this scent will find the performance sufficient. It's an interesting scent, but like Fontevraud, I'm not quite sure it's for me, personally. 7 out of 10

I love this original and very interesting perfume ..I'm a big Bruno F. fan..My fav in Monserrat, but this is a close second. It's like summer as a teenager...I think it's the combination of green notes, tea and the Marine notes..like walking down to the lake on a hot summer day.. The drydown is sandalwood heaven...and it lasts all day long. NOTICE- I heard from Bruno himself that he is discontinuing this as of Summer 2025..so if you like this, snag a bottle while you still can find it. The Fzotic website only has travel sizes. But it's still at Ministry of Scent.

Very ADDICTIVE... I didn't like this at first but once the dry down kicked in I fell in love. This frag isn't going to be for everyone so get your nose on a decent before blind buying. The citrus note dominates but there's this floral vibe sharing a beautiful waltz with the pineapple note & man what a dance... a lot going on here... but man what an absolute GORGEOUS composition! Projection is moderate but the longevity is a beastly 7+ hours! Worth every penny imho...

I came across this fragrance at a museum exhibit. I smelled a mint/balsam in the air and asked the guard if they were pumping it in as an air freshener. I sampled and then bought a bottle. Very unique fragrance. I get tea and pineapple with GREAT longevity. One walk-through spray works for the whole day. Pricey at $110 for 30 ml. If you don't want to smell like anyone else, buy this one.

I want to like this one so much. The notes listed sound amazing! The reality....all I get on my skin is a calone scent. The perfume, to me, smells like all my least favorite aquatic fragrances. There are a few aquatic scents that I have liked, but those are much more evenly blended, not water heavy. This is gross on me. I would be really interested to see what it smells like on other people's skin.

The pineapple opening of Unsettled only lasts seconds until it’s overtaken by a harsh chemical “aquatic” calone note. It’s more than an hour before the calone chills out somewhat and a little bit of sweetened wood comes out. this one’s a dud, unfortunately. Cheap synthetics, too low concentration to smell much of anything. A pity; a breezy summer pineapple sounded great.

I was wrapped in an exotic scent bubble (not beast mode projection but maybe 2 meters)for about 6-7 hours before it became a skin scent albeit still very present and delicious. This one starts off very green though not a dry green its more of a herbal green. I suspect its the black tea, bergamont and sage that gives this herbal vibe and keeps it from being dry. This opening reminds me of Tea Noir 29 from Lelabo. About 30-45 minutes into the scent it morphed into a beautiful warm slightly oud scent. The oud vibe is very faint. My suspicion is its the labdanum and sandalwood that dominates the heart of this fragrance. The body of this fragrance reminded me of 10 Corso Como. 10 Corso Como has more oud whereas this one has a more green vibe. Vanilla is listed in the notes but I did not detect it when I wore it today. I really appreciate the artistry in this one. To open with a green herbal presence and transform into a warn slighly animalic body is just genius. I need to test more but I really enjoyed this and think it will be an excellent addition to my fragrance wardrobe. Price for the 9 mL Chapbook is $38. Price for a 30 mL is $110. I truly believe this will make a great Spring and Fall scent and even early summer if you live in a mild climate.

So many of the reviews indicate different leading notes in the composition. One says herbal green, one says citrus, one says black tea. My review says it’s pineapple. Main notes just behind pineapple are sandalwood and marine notes. Then tea & vanilla. I can see where bergamot lends to the mix and labdanum, but I never clearly pick out the sage. It reminds me of a tea I have from called Silencio from August Uncommon, which features dried pineapple and cacao shell. A beautiful and very well done scent with what seems like great longevity. Personally it’s too fruity and tropical for my taste. While it’s fruity and tropical, it’s a well-manicured scent due to the tea. The main note pineapple isn’t a natural pineapple, it’s a perfumey artificial pineapple. Same with the marine notes. The wearer of this scent isn’t the exotic beauty wearing a sarong, but the blonde European tourist wearing a white fedora.

i have to be brutally honest here, my first impression was "cool water flanker", which isn't bad, but it's certainly not expected. as the scent calms down a little, it undergoes some transformations and develops into a something a lot more nuanced. the buttery sandalwood comes to the fore, the pineapple wins over the aromoachemical used (calone? iso e? whatever it is, it's the one that's in cool water) either way, the beginning comes across as bland designer summer fragrance but it warms down to something a lot more detailed, refined and artistic.

This one captures the air, sea and wind of the Wild West. What a daunting task for a perfumer to convey in a one ounce bottle! Less is more here, so initialy this comes across as a light oceanic floral. Kind of meh at first, but as it wears on it evolves. It whispers all of the secrets of the West and lets you interpret what they mean to you. The grassy fields, wild flowers, citrus farms, sun drenched deserts, clean air, crashing waves, herbal tea consumed by the inhabitants...its all here. You just has to look for it.

Wow. I have to say that after reading all the reviews the magic of this fragrance could very well be its chameleon like quality. It appears that with every persons chemistry a different note takes prominence. For me it was distinctly the clary sage incense note. This was followed by the citrus and tea. No pineapple for me...not a beach front tropical drink. Instead it evoked a prayful house clearing. Interesting. unique. will not smell yourself coming or going. FB worthy? Not for me. But glad I sampled it.

This is a very subtle, clever composition. As others have noted, it's not particularly organized around the paradigmatic note pyramid progression. For me the opening is soapy fruity ozonic metallic, followed by entry of the tea, sage, and vanilla, and finally woody amber base. But the soapy fruity ozonic is very persistent. This is super contemplative in terms of projection & intensity. Not my favorite Fazzolari, tbh, which remains a tie between Five & Au Dela Narcisse.

I wish this had more staying power on me - I especially love the middle that reminds me of a slightly warm mallomar cookie - soft vanilla marshmallow with a thin milk chocolate shell (minus the overbearing sweetness) . Unfortunately I lose the whole shebang in about an hour or two.

I really want to like this. I got a sample and, while I do get some pineapple, it doesn't last long. The black tea is super forward here, dark and bitter. It dries down to sandalwood on my skin. I purchased a travel size so I can make a better decision/see how it wears.
