Delicious

The Short: I have an older version and modern version. Both beautiful but, different experiences. I love them both. The Long: Modern version: Floral forward (mostly white floral for me) and an all around very pleasant fragrance. Has a little musk but, nothing heavy. Lasts about 2 hrs on the skin. This is very pretty and has presence. This fragrance is very wearable from day to night and in pretty much any season for me. Be cautious of over spray. Produced by fivestarfragrance. The color is amber and it has a skunky smelling plastic cougar (cat) cap. The bottle signature is in all caps font. This is really great if you are looking for something with a little more depth but, still modern. I remove the cap and store it in a plastic sandwich bag. (The cap smells terrible.) Older version: This fragrance is enormous and much more assertive than the modern version. There are definitely prominent yellow and white florals but, the powdery dryness of sandalwood and orris root--swoon. This is a beautiful fragrance. It lasts for 6hrs+ on my skin and it is lovely. This is more of an evening or event type of fragrance for me.This is 80s/90s perfumery. Steer clear if you don't go for throw back scents. Produced by Gayle Hayman, Inc. The color is a deep golden amber honey color. The cat cap is more like a sleek ocelot and has a collar. The bottle signature is in and italics handwriting style font in quotes. Worth a sniff if you come across them. I wouldn't pay a ton for it though. The older because of occasional wear and the newer because of the performance.

Hmm, I got my mini splash today and it is not how I remember. Smells very soapy and aldehydic, not the yummy spicy full floral I remember. Maybe someone is selling their mother's old collection and didn't realize mom had filled the bottle up with something else? Because the perfume in the bottle smells soo familiar,like something I would have sold at the perfume counter in the late 90's, but it does not smell like my memory of 'Delicious'. My memory may be off or the perfume is off-I did try to get an old old because I didn't want a reformulated one. Or maybe I remembered the name wrong. Maybe it was 'So Delicious' that came with Gale Hayman's book?? Does anyone remember? Oh well, at least the mini was cheap. I mentioned to my husband that I might try to get another 'Delicious' bottle somewhere, to try to find the scent I remember in my head. He said he didn't want anything that smells even remotely like this little mini in the house. Made me laugh because I don't think this smells bad,even if it doesn't smell right. He is never into florals much, but he hates this even more than my Carolina Herrera. So here it goes, up on my decoration shelf.

This is my 4th Hayman purchase and my favorite. I have Fred Hayman's 273 Rodeo Drive (which I don't like); and Gale's So Delicious; Beverly Hills; and this stunning fragrance. This is hands down the best of what I've tried to date. It is a beautifully crafted big floral in the 80s style that is pitch-perfect in its composition. I thought with a name like Delicious it would be a sweet fragrance, but it's not, though it's not dry either. The mimosa, angelic, and blackcurrant are preventing that. The tuberose is beautifully blended with the jasmine, rose, neroli, and ylang. The orris is powdery and the sandalwood creamy. Aptly named as this scent really is delicious and such a satisfying wear. I'm sighing with delight every time I catch a whiff. Good job Gale!!!

This is a typical 80'/90's scent. A powerhouse. Back when it came out, I was gifted a miniature in a Christmas gift exchange where I worked. I fell in love instantly and treasured that tiny miniature. I would get it out and dab a little bit on every night until the cap broke, then I was heart-broken. I looked everywhere, but could never find a full bottle. After discovering that I have a love for Angelica, I was not surprised to see it listed as the strongest note. She is very bold...not for the faint-hearted. But I loved this powder bomb then, and I love it now. Sweet, feminine, Powdery, makeup-y. It reminded me in a way of Lou Lou. Delicious. Vintage-y old movie-siren style.

I love "Delicious", although I'm never sure why it is labeled in quotes. Is that to make sure we don't eat it? I had a mini back in the 90's that came with Gale's book about fashion. It is spicy with full floral nectar, a decadent perfume. Today I was trying to decide between buying a dusty mini or a cheap fresh big bottle. I'm thankful to Talia who addressed reformulation in her review. Now I know to buy the mini.

I love this perfume, I am very surprised to see the negative reviews for it. It really is delicious, floral, rich, long lasting, sexy, very good for the price too. I wonder if some people are smelling a sample which had been previously opened some time before and it had 'gone off'? I find it wonderful, expensive smelling, and youthful.

Delicious is gorgeous. It's a beautiful glorious oriental floral, high quality and superb. Truly wonderful. Everything is perfect. Beautiful jasmine, narcissus and rose - divine. And every other superb note. Scrumptious.

For an inexpensive line these smell great! I have actually had women stop me stating I smelled delicious and ask me what I was wearing and I told them "Delicious"! LOL

This is a very interesting fragrance - I got a sample vial with a perfume order about a decade ago and remember loving it and have always meant to find a full bottle but never come across it until I found a cheap 100ml bottle of this on an online beauty website. This is quite a complex scent - it's like a marriage of Coty Airspun face powder and dry yellow floral notes on me every so often I get a whiff of Nivea Creme, then the Airspun then I get a round of 'omg something smells so nice is it me?' but if I actually sniff myself where I applied the fragrance I cannot smell it it - it seems to meld into my skin like a skin scent but carries a trail of scent around me. It reminds me a bit of Classique (with a tart sweet desserty note crossed with some sort of metallic note), a bit of Mackie (yellow floral and slightly old smelling syrupy fruit) and a touch of Valentino Vendetta which comes and goes I wish the boronia was more apparent as I love boronia, I get a little mimosa, something that smells a bit like ribena (perhaps the blackcurrant syrup) and I definitely get a tart sort of herbal green note in there that definitely smells like candied Angelica - like the type that would come in expensive candied fruit mixes for adding to fruit cakes. Not in love with it yet but it definitely works as a nice sensual skin scent for the daytime on me - especially since it seems to mix well with Nivea cream which is a staple for me - definitley not a young girls scent by any means! Hmm this is too cloying for me - definitely doesn't smell like the one I had many years ago perhaps it has been reformulated? This has been rehomed.

If you can get past the initial syrupy sweet blast, it settles into a soapy,rosy, sandalwood that I find similar to the scent of sandalwood incense sticks when you smell them in the box, not when they are lit. Imagine that amplified and sweeter. If used VERY sparingly, it can be delightful-really, just a drop or two so you have to turn your head to smell it. If you are aware of it all the time, you have used too much and it becomes suffocating for you and those around you. Truly, less is more! I have to say something about the bottle- frosted leopard? Really? SO eighties! I fell like it belongs on a Formica dresser next to a vase filled with feathers and giant pods.

Super-powerful & spicy, just a tiny dab will waft all around you & last forever. This perfume is the closest I've found that matches the spicy scent of the air in Grenada, the spice island of the Caribbean. Delicious is not the right name for it & it will be overwhelming if you spray too much (seriously just a drop or dab is all you need).

I bought this one recently because I wanted to single out BORONIA. Well, forget it. I can smell a bit of mimosa which I hope is the same as MIMOSE. But after that, the flowers blend into a bouquet. Not bad for the dollars I invested. Will save it for spring and summer evenings. Can anyone really smell boronia?

This perfume reminds me of Chloe Narcissus. But I feel like this perfume is more mellowed out by the base notes. Even with that said, this perfume is all daffodil, mimosa, and tuberose. Those are the standouts in this perfume. I do enjoy this fragrance a lot and prefer it on cold, rainy days.

wow!!! this one takes me back to my freshman year in high school. I really I got this as a gift and really loved it , ( the bottle is cute too. I have a full bottle left because I dont use it anymore I just smell it from time to time when i want to think about long lost friends

This I hadn't worn in many years! I decided to re-visit it on Saturday, as I cleaned the inside and outside of my home. Ummmm...very weird, lol! Initially, it starts as an extreme patchouli power house...so powerful, a few sprays can be smelled in another room! As it opens, I can smell every yellow flower included, then...something strange happens. In a matter of minutes, I kid you not, it vanishes! Almost totally undetectable--barely a skin scent! Delicious has very poor performance and it is not that great smelling to begin with. I wouldn't even give this to anyone, unless they specifically asked for it.

I've never encountered a fragrance with such a dual personality. I almost feel like I'm reviewing two different perfumes. When I first applied this, it was truly horrible. Imagine bug spray, wet rags, turpentine, rotting wood, and any other toxic substance you can think of, all mixed up together. I'm not sure what notes are causing this reaction on my skin, but I regretted this as soon as I put it on. Just before I scrubbed it, I noticed it started to mellow. I decided to wait and give it a chance to settle. Within about 20 minutes, it softened into a warm, sweet spicy, woody scent. What a surprise. It's actually quite nice if you can get past the initial toxicity. I can see how some reviewers love it and others hate it. If I ever wanted to wear this, I'd have to apply it well in advance of leaving the house, leave the windows open to air out the initial fumes, and learn to tolerate the top notes till they subside. But then, I don't think I'd want to go through that process when there are so many fragrances that smell great from the beginning.

Bought this as a blind buy, as I own 2 other Gale Hayman frags, which I adore. This one is not my cup of tea at all. Very floral, strong and very 80's retro style. Is classified as an oriental floral?? Should be classified as oldiental maxifloral. Is like sniffing 500 daffodils (Narcissus) all at once and not being able to escape it. I wonder how the bees cope? Is potent stuff. I can taste it now after trying to re-sniff it, incase it got better. To no avail. Have to wash it off, my nose is disturbed and my taste buds will need a toothpaste scrub. However, I am sure it is right up some people's alleys.

Ok...bought this one by mistake. I bought two perfumes that day and didn't realize that the sales lady sold me the wrong Delicious bottle. (I wanted Delicious Chocolate)...I got home and though what the heck and opened it instead of returning it. OK, I agree with LaLaPop75... flashback to the 80's instead of the 90's when this one launched. It's not bad, but strong and dated. At first, it hits you in the face with a very strong spicy smell. Wait....it leaves an elegant, spicy retro smell. EDIT: Couldn't stand the oh so strong, dated initial spray smell....sold it on Ebay. Next...

I got a bottle of this perfume and I did not like it att all. It was too powdry, spicy and overwhelming. Just kept it because the bottle was really cute. Then a few years late a fried of mine got it as a gift and finished it a few weeks later.

I accidentally bought this thinking it was the Cotton Candy one and opened the box to get a hurricane of old smelling perfume. I do not like this at all and luckily they let me return it since it was leaking.

Stale, screechy soap is all I got from this. I bought a tiny sample bottle for a couple bucks because I was curious (the bottle is cute with the cat haha). This is not delicious at all!

Ok, I did a boredom search and I'm pretty sure the following is true about the Eau de Toilettes: Five Star, updated "marble" box with corner that says BRAND NEW SCENT- that is the chemical soapy stuff that lasts 10 min. Cat/jaguar/cougar has NO COLLAR and looks like a bear to me. Haha. I have this, and actually the cap does not stink! Fun to spray head to toe at home and smell like a 90s perm for a few hours. Watch Pretty Woman. When looking for vintage, need to know the bottom sticker, cap, and/or box. (I know people throw the caps away because they smell like skunky plastic, and often boxes are discarded) The bottom sticker is the BEST. Cat with collar on-- GOOD! But... A cat with a collar on, but still a 5-Star bottle wouldn't be something I'd purchase or seek out. I'm curious tho! They are everywhere, and perhaps they are still good? (And if you have a cap-less Five Star sticker bottle, best to move on/avoid) Cat with collar, and bottom says Gale Hayman 1992. A box will have a short list of ingredients, the IFRA laws didn't exist yet. I believe this to be first edition/formula. I have myself a 50ml coming. $27 on ebay. Cat with collar, short list of ingredients on the box, and box/bottom says LA Perfumerie NY, NY. This says to me with the short list, still a very early version. I think I'm going to try an affordable bottle of this to compare. This one appears to be the middle-manufacturer between GH and Five Star. I'm unsure of dates. Another trick since I buy vintage- is looking for a white tube-connector at the top of the "hose" in the spray bottle. That chunky white part was used in 80s/90s. Pretty sure the EDP is always vintage, and my splash EDP is a 1992 GH sticker/box. If I were to seek out a parfum/extrait, I'd prob only buy the GH 1992 versions in pristine condition for a fair price. Again, this perfume is just fun- I'm having a blast looking it up and finding deals on the bottles. I did just grab a LA Perfumerie version. LOL. Like I said, I wore the vintage EDP to my dispensary and I do not think I smelled dated or overpowering. In vintage form, this is only about 20% dated because it's very well blended. And I adore my vintage EDP box, it has several sections and flaps to house the bottle perfectly (and the cool silver metal curved cap). Def leaving this one boxed. I decanted a bit to use. Update- The 1992 GH and LA Perf versions are the same. But vintage EDT differs from vintage EDP in that the EDT is spicier to me. The EDP is creamier. A bit more dated in the EDT version.

Well, this vintage EDP splash needs it's own entry. THIS is luxury with quality oils/notes. This is a smooooooth PERFUME (still somehwhat dated and perfumey) that is blended so well. The modern may have the same notes but they are synthetic and cheap, leaving more of an "on the skin like hairspray" effect than what perfume was meant to be back when- absorbed and sillaged with chemistry. Funny bit- I wore this decanted and sprayed on my chest while wearing a distressed & torn Slayer sweater with ripped jeans and Chucks. And I went to my fave dispensary. LMAO. Wear what you like- whenever you like!!!! This is not SOAPY now. I think we associate perfumes with soap because of CHEMICALS. What I get with Delicious is a CREAMY (the floral petals are so real/creamy) powder floral with some spice. It's not delicious or gourmand sweet, but it's powder sweet? Creamy floral sandalwood with a hint of spice. It's never SOAP or Baby Powder, very smooth but also then- perfumey. The modern Five Star EDT is so weak, it can be sprayed very liberally, and I suggest clothing. It lasted OK then. But they really don't smell the same. Modern is like a shampoo based on the perfume. Vintage versions seem to have a collar on the cat. Modern do not. Although I do see Five Stars with collars. But it's not really something I would spend big bucks on after an exhaustive search. This is a fun time warp to the 90s. Nothing more. It is luxurious in vintage form tho. I love it.

Fred and Gale Hayman are famous for creating and introducing the world to "Giorgio" which was all the rage in the 1980's. They have more perfumes to explore. I'm delighted to sample some of their other perfumes! Just trying this now with a group of 7 small samples by Fred and Gayle Hayman. After trying 273 Rodeo Drive and Touch, this inspired me to try more of their perfumes -- both 273 and Touch are great with my chemistry. I'm trying a small sample of Delicious now - and this is in the league with rare perfumes that have class and sophistication. This is similar to First, one of my long time favorites - only Delicious smells good from the start and doesn't go through that aldehyde transition with a less agreeable chord at the beginning. This chord is well blended and is in an alto range, which is typically my favorite perfume signature spectrum. Both Fred and Gale have an extensive perfume series. Gale was ahead of her time with some of the earliest body sprays that I have seen. These look like a forerunner to the Victoria's Secret body spray line, almost identical - only with cute teen-styled animated fashion figures. "Delicious" is good so far, I look forward to seeing how this wears on the skin. Will report back --

I bought this right after I landed in " Las Vegas " being six foot ~ I thought I'd try out for a Casino job , big mistake , which is another story . But while I was there I had a mini shopping spree and found this scent and Fred Hayman her ex husband ~ I purchased his " Touch " I also found " Beverly Hills " ~ from Gayle as well . I must admit these could have turned or they refomulated ~ I'm not remembering the high and low notes correctly . These smell generic to me now , like I've worn this since but they're going by multiple brands . When these were first out all of these were " heavenly " and like nothing else I had ever worn . I ended up leaving after one summer , I jumped in the pool , { no one warned me } and immediately jumped right out , it was not funny at the time , it totally is now ~ but it felt like a sauna the water was so damn hot . I never did find the appeal of that state . Since the only thing I like to gamble on are my scents in a blind buy . ~ /=^ } ~

Warning: Snarky comment that has nothing to do with the scent! Alright, you can't say I didn't warn you, if you read this.... Why, in the name of all that's holy, did someone place a turd on top of a bottle and call it Delicious? And then make a hundred flankers, all of which have a turd on top? I have been looking at pictures of this as I peruse vintage perfumes and others. No seller has a zoom feature (that works anyway) on these bottles, and I can't say as I blame them. This is like the worst bottle ever. I know, I read that it is a panther. Huh? A panther on top of a scent called Delicious? That's almost as ridiculous as what it really looks like. If that's a panther, ummm, I'll...ummm...well, anyway, it ISN'T a panther. I finally got a close enough look to find it looks more like an African civet. Or rather, a civet head on top of a large insect in pupal stage. It depends on the angle of the photo, which is almost always blurry. Egads.

EdT I love this, but I consider it a wear at home fragrance only. A rich, yellow floral (the mimosa really comes through) grounded with excellent woody notes. The orris/sandalwood/patchouli combination is SUPERB. My bottle seems to be missing the middle notes. It’s so rich that wearing it feels like cheating on your diet, lol. Am confounded by the various bottle descriptions, because mine seems to have attributes of both the new and old — the cap is plastic, but it doesn’t stink. The cat has a collar, “delicious” is in italics with the quotation marks, BUT it’s definitely 5 star. And it has a short ingredient list. I can’t find any code look ups, but mine is 1163 in case someone knows. It has serious staying power and the box is the pale apricot color. In sum, I don’t have the first idea how old it is. Whichever version, the prices are not high and it’s much more sophisticated and well blended than the rather campy bottle would suggest.

I remembered it as an elegant, bright and expensive one, but it was a miniature and long time ago. Now it is reformulated I suppose - cheep ingredients or lost original receipt. An annoying note added, the same note you can discover in many new versions of old perfumes, like artificial patina,( in Madame Rochas, Rumba, Lulu, even in Dioressence), The color of the liquid is much more intensive now. The power is really frightening. I will keep it anyway.

It's my mother's signature perfume. That being said, on her it is everything *but* old. It's soft, feminine...very comforting, and not cheap smelling in the least- and I have ripped a bottle of the dreadful stink that is Madonna's Truth or Dare, or Mugler's Alien from her hands and thrown it far, far away. It smells like Amouage or Keiko Mecheri could've concocted it on a casual day. Anyway, I might use it myself if it wasn't inextricably hers.

I adore this cheesy 90s time machine. Smells like the midwest 90s- dept stores, restroom handsoap, salons, etc... I have a Five Star bottle (reformulation) from Frag-net. This is hilariously soapy and floral. I love it. Like the review below-- in 10 min it's GONE. I won a 50ml vintage splash EDP on ebay! I can't wait! This perfume reminds me of the snooty salesgirls of Pretty Woman. LMAO.

I originally received a sample vial of this perfume after buying another perfume. I decided to try it, and to my surprise, I was getting compliments everywhere I went. I loved the scent, myself, but after receiving so many compliments on it (from friends, as well as strangers), I had to go out and buy myself a bottle. It became my signature scent back in college.

One word, outdated! the smell really remind you of early 90's... even there is some early 90's perfume that I adore until today, but this one should only be wear on early 90's. After that, they should be discontinue!! If you need to dress up in early 90's outfit, this will give you the mood. I wont wear it, it give me headache and dizzy, plus noxious too..

This fragrance reminds me of Sunday morning flowers and church with the initial spray. Once it calms down it starts to become sweet and skanky. This fume is all over the place on me. Though I won't purchase again, I like it because it's unpredictable.

Dated is the word. A toned-down, less interesting version of Chantilly,if you can imagine such a thing. Opens fairly well, but then the dry down disappears and what is there is vaguely unpleasant. Ridiculously cheap for a reason.

I can't beleive how under appreciated this is..It slightly reminds me of Sun, Moon and Stars by Sophia Grossman with its peachy note but is a hundred percent tamer. And for the price you can get this at..Its a real gem 💝

I bought this perfume unsniffed and unfortunately it just not work with my chemistry. All I smell is really loud jasmine and ylang ylang. Also, as others have said, a little bit goes a long way!

I can't stand the Delicious line of perfumes! They are all really bad cheap versions of awful smelling perfumes-SAVE YOUR MONEY FOLKS!

i didn't like it at all, it's to strong.. i think this perfume is actually intended for old ladies....

I got SO MANY compliments from men when I wore this one back in the day!
