Oud Vanille

This is just a very busy fragrance. There is a lot going on and overall it doesn’t feel harmonic. There is oud, there is rose, carnation, geranium, patchouli, each trying to steal the spotlight. Interestingly enough, the actual vanilla is pushed so much to the background that it’s almost untraceable. It reminds me of some childhood candies.

A soft powdery vanilla with a sweet floral wood touch. The oud is present in the opening, but as it dries down it opens up to that rose accord, which is strange in that it is somewhat opposite to the perfume pyramid? Leans feminine, but I enjoy wearing it as a male with a sharp jacket to give it that smart formal vibe. Performance is good for maybe 3hrs on my skin, then settles down to a cosy skin scent. I like to wrap a scarf around me just after I've sprayed so that later in the day there is still some traces on the fabric. The price to performance to uniqueness ratio means I'll probably be happy with my 9.5ml sample & won't be requiring a full bottle purchase of this, but it is probably one of the safest blind buys of the entire discovery set.

Excellent fragrance with a lot of depth. The vanilla is not a main player, but adds a smoothness to the composition. It reads like an amber-floral fragrance to me, with a tiny lean to the masculine.
