Sunscape

Blind Buy because I love the uniqueness of Gallagher/Pearlescent perfumes. So glad I did it. I have been searching and searching for a beautiful summer scent and, Baby, this is IT. Stunning opening of candied lime with a sweet orange chaser, but this blooms so elegantly that kind of honeydew sunshiny melon makes its presence known big time. Swallows you up in a gorgeous freshness that lasts a good four or five solid hours for me, which is not too shabby. The sweetness stays, florals are pillowy. You can get some of the ginger zing in the dry down. You tell me there is a little sunshine in this bottle and I believe it after smelling. This is....uplifting. Safe blind buy and full bottle worthy. This is summer for people who don't want coconut sunscreen tropical, its a fresh new day summer. It's gorgeous.

This fragrance is a Beautiful Honeydew forward fragrance that smells incredible all the way through. The opening is the best scent that I have ever smelt, it has a very fresh scent that feels almost sparkly I think that the lime accords is giving this the pop like smell. it seems to last about 6 hours on my skin, however the opening is so good that I find myself fighting the urge to re spray.

I got this sample as part of a sample set. Acquatic fragrances aren't a scent profile I gravitate to often. So I likely wouldn't have tried this out otherwise. I would have missed out. Sunscape is more interesting that I would have thought and smells lovely. This is a fresh, spicy and green and a bit aquatic with contrasting warm notes like resins, inscence and vanilla. Underneath all that is a warm sweetness from the brown sugar. In the opening the melon is prominent. Sometimes find melon nauseating in fragrances. Not here. In Sunscape it is balanced just right. It is watery, fresh and lush like melon at the peak of ripeness. As it settles on the skin the warmer notes join the melon giving it a lovely complexity that is still easy to like. It's a bit like a sparkling summer cocktail on the heach with a bonfire in the distance, just close enough to get hints of the smoke. After a couple hours of wear the melon fades away and the warmer notes, especially the inscence are more dominant. They stay airy and light on the skin, never feeling heavy or cloying, even in the heat. The performance is pretty good for a freshie. The projection is pretty light with it staying within your personal space. After around 4 hours it becames skin scent. Although the projection isn't strong, I could easily smell it around myself. It lasted 6-7 hours on my skin and longer on my clothes. On paper, Sunscape is a little bland and boring, but it comes alive on skin. So don't judge it untill you have tried it on skin. This has a similar vibe as Acqua di Gioia. They are not dupes of one another, but are both fresh, green, aquatic fragrances with a warm brown sugar sweetness. Sunscape is more green fruity, while Acqua di Gioia is more herbal. This fragrance smells like sunshine and summer. The first day I wore this was grey and dreary and I was looking for something that was uplifting and Sunscape worked wonderfully. I wore it again on a hot sunny day and it was even better. I find this a very unisex fragrance. I can easily imagine a man wearing this as easily as I can enjoy it for myself.

I don't find this to be similar to Amongst Waves, at least not on my skin. AW is decidedly aquatic, bracing and fresh like a summer stream over slate, running into unspoiled marshland. What I get from Sunscape is more like sunny fruit salad, with a smattering of violets. Both are lovely, though I'm not sure Sunscape is really my style. Saying that, my somewhat fussy dog tried to lick it off my skin, and my spouse (who is usually super ambivalent about fragrances) immediately claimed this from my stash. Longevity is good -- even after the attempted dog licking incident, it stuck around softly from morning through lunch and into a hot afternoon. Oh -- a final note that I am familiar with another melon/incense scent, IA Whispered Myths, and that one is WORLDS away from this Sunscape. They live on completely different planets of fragrance. Reading a few similar notes on paper cannot prepare you for what a sheer division there is between these two creations, like that one meme about the beach house painted entirely in black, right next to the pink and purple house right next door.

The latest release from Pearlescent Parfums is Sunscape, a bright, fresh burst of violet and citruses, first and foremost, with an undercurrent of ginger and vanilla. It’s very violet-forward to my nose, that crisp, sharp, white-ish floral quality shining through brightly. The brightness/sharpness predictably becomes a bit more toned down after a dry down period (roughly 30 minutes in my case) and the vanilla and ginger become balanced with the honeydew, albeit still with some sharpness, for a nice blended experience. It’s very interesting, not immediately as lovable or enveloping as the other entries, so a little more challenging with the violet, at least to me, but still potentially very rewarding for those that enjoy that note, which is very heavy (at least on my skin) in the opening. As with all of Daniel Gallagher’s creations, I recommend sampling this. As with the sibling Gallagher Fragrances line, the Pearlescent Parfums line is sold in the US by Perfumology and Olfactif, as well as the house website at the standard pricing of $175 for 60ml. 7 out of 10
