Tonkazure

I think this is my most complimented perfume and for a reason - it's so well-blended, unique and feminine. I've never really smelled anything quite like it. It opens strong and sweet and smells just like blueberry jam, but classy and boozy, because of the champagne. Here it is not sparkly or juvenile, but to my nose it adds a bit of a mature touch. As the perfume starts to dry down, the patchouli shows up to ground the fragrance and give it a more earthy facet, but it's beautifully done - definitely not muddy or dirty. It's ever-so-slightly powdery from the iris, but otherwise it's so well done I can't differentiate the other notes. So, if you're not into rose or amber this fragrance wouldn't be off-putting. Longevity, performance and projection are insane on me. Sprayed it on a jacket once last October and it still smells of it. Easily lasts 8+ hours and can fill a room. Literally have gotten compliments from people, that walked half way across the subway station to ask me what I was wearing. That being said, it's too potent for me to wear in summer, but it's lovely for all other seasons, even winter if I feel like it. Also, maybe not the most office-friendly scent. It's a bonus that the people from Perfumology, where I got the fragrance from, are super friendly and helpful. 10/10 customer service!

First Impressions (sample spray): Wow oh wow, this smells exactly like a blue berry cobbler, or a blueberry jam. My male friend was impressed with this one. Let’s see if this works on my skin chemistry. Edit: Okay so I just put this on my skin, and I gotta say it smells like a blue berry shampoo. It’s a tiny bit synthetic, but I’m still liking it. Hold up! In the dry down I’m getting a suede feeling. Omg! This smells kind of like a new car? Is there a car freshener that smells like this? I wonder. You know what this smells like it smells like those expensive hotel lobby or the inside of a new Tesla. Interesting, it’s very unique yet complex. I’ll investigate it more. Edit 2: Yeah still loving this. It does give a little bit of a Bath & Body Works vibe in the middle I think. However, the beginning and the dry down is what I like. Can anyone maybe find out what BBW fragrance smells kind of like this one? Edit 3: Oo this kind of smells like the fenty perfume. Only more sweet, and somehow it dry down more woody or masculine. I really like this. It’s super unique. Summary: Smells like: blue berry Bellini, Tesla car, or 5 star hotel. Family of: some sort if B&BW fragrance??, Fenty perfume (+sweet, +woody drydown) Silage: Strong Verdict: I want a full bottle!

tonkazure came as a free bonus after buying a decant of wicked good on the gallhager fragrance website. a deceptively strong fragrance that boasts equal amounts of subtly metallic champagne, black currant, and jammy blueberry. while i generally find these very airy notes, i wonder if the base notes are helping to ground this mix a smidge. the rose and iris blend beautifully with the lighter fruits after the initial spray. amber and tonka sweeten it as it becomes a skin scent. sandalwood rounds it. despite featuring both blueberry compote and champagne, i find this a very sophisticated, clean scent---minus the fact that a jarring woody earthy dry patchouli sometimes blasts my nose. its a good thing i personally love patchouli. i have worn this at the temple. if i had never smelled this in person, i would have never given this a shot. definitely going to become one of my signatures once i get my money up. it does not disappoint in central texan heat; this concoction is robust yet sparkly without being cloying. i have never smelled a profile like this. alternative gourmand enthusiasts will not be disappointed; please give it a try winter scent is a little bit of a stretch imo but it wont kill anybody

Like a brunch picnic in the park with your lover on an early and still cool summers morning. You share a box of freshly picked, perfectly ripe & sweet blueberries, a glass of freshly poured and effervescent champagne, and plenty of kisses. Life is good. Wow. Like the reviewer below me said, it’s like having a bowl of freshly muddled blueberries and black currant soaked in champagne with an overdosed backbone of sweet and nutty tonka. As it dries it gets a bit powdery from the iris & slight rosy touch and the familiar sweet, musky patchouli Gallagher DNA that you can get in a lot of their cold weather fragrances. This is pretty easily one of, if not my current favorite fruity fragrance. For those who might be discouraged in trying this from the overwhelming feminine leaning vote, as of writing this review I am a 21 year old dude in a fraternity, and all 3 times I’ve worn my sample I have received one or multiple comments. Try it! Deceivingly very powerful projection and performance, especially under the current summers heat in the northern hemisphere. 10/10. Masterpiece in the fruity genre. Signature scent worthy. The latest release from Pearlescent Parfums is Tonkazure, a vibrant, sweet, fruity blend involving a base of tonka but more noticeably opening ensemble of champagne, blueberry, and blackcurrant, a really enticing description that largely seems accurate. It’s fresh, with grapes and berries, dessert-like, and yet not too heavy, giving way to a floral heart, and pleasant balanced base. “Tonka” being in the name throws me off a little bit, as it has a bright, fruity, almost candied character, without much of the sharp/nutty/semi-sweet that I associated with tonka-named or tonka-forward scents. Overall, I love it; it’s my favorite release of the Pearlescent line and among my favorites of the combined Pearlescent/Gallagher catalogue. Tonkazure is priced at $125 for 60ml, in a shift of the brand’s pricing to be closer to that of the sibling company Gallagher Fragrances. It’s sold via the house site and great boutiques like Perfumology, with samples available from both. 8 out of 10

First day of wearing this, so my opinion may change over time, but so far it's...really weird. Three sprays (2 on neck, 1 on wrist). First impression: lemon toilet cleaner and air freshener... a chemical citrus opening that lasted for about two hours and dominated the fruity notes. No hint of champagne for me, but a noticeable tobacco note. Overpoweringly strong initially. The next hour of dry down smells nice - lots of deep berries, but in a warm pie or dried fruit kind of way rather than bright and fresh. A hint of cinnamon, rose, gourmand vibes. For me the dominant smell was initially honey, which I was excited about! Unfortunately this phase didn't last more than an hour (noticeable to me at least) and from here it went into a weird rubbery kind of smell... Still a hint of rich blackberries if I hold my wrist to my nose, but not sure if anyone else notices it. Will update once I've had some feedback and worn it a few more times.

I think this is my third wearing of Tonkazure. To my nose, it's bombastic. I sprayed a half a spray and still had to wash some off. Yes, it's sweet, deep, fresh, long lasting, high projecting. I cannot see how anyone wouldn't be able to smell it. It's very unique, but still has that Pearlescent/Gallagher signature. It has the fresh, zingy patchouli that is present in Mists of Time, but the rich and deep sweetness of Midnight Jasmine. For those of you looking for high value in your niche perfumes, you're getting it in droves here. I get bubbly champagne, fresh soapiness, sweet blueberries, zingy patchouli, with a warmth and depth that is slightly gourmand, and definitely not foody. I really can't think of anything similar to Tonkazure, it's a unique offering from this house with their own niche style.

I adore this fragrance. It's a little perfumey - definitely not straight gourmand. But this is a heavier cousin to One Umbrella For Two (and their EBK twin). This one is so good but it's easy to spray too much and get choked out. But with a few good sprays I am in love with this perfumey interpretation of a blueberry muffin with tonka. This definitely has a musky-woody base (the bready "muffin" part) and can be a bit heavy in that way. But the other notes help bring it all together for me. If you like gourmands that are not straight fruity gourmands and not TOO sweet - but strong (and of course the notes look interesting) - give this a try! I really enjoy it and find myself wanting to smell it when I'm not wearing it.

This has to be one of my new favorites! This opens with a burst of blueberries and champagne, sparkling, fruity and cool. Then the fragrance develops with tonka and iris - soft and supple with a light powderiness. The rose, jasmin and neroli are minor players here. But then the drydown is incredibly enticing with the musk and sandalwood, playing harmony with the berries and tonka. It does have patchouli in it (and I don't even like patchouli), but the patchouli in this fragrance is soft and slighly earthy with no animalic or funky smell. It seems to merely give the fragrance extra body. This is truly a alluring and addictive perfume.

As a man who tends to gravitate towards more masculine fragrances, this isn’t the type I’d usually go for- however this is an exception when I’m in the mood for something sweeter that can be worn in the heat. I like layering Molecule 01 underneath to give it more of a woody base. I’ve received various compliments when wearing this out. This somewhat gives me shampoo vibes, but I don’t consider that to be a bad thing because it gives an element of freshness that you’d want in the warmer weather.

Oh my 🌟🤩⭐! This looks right up my alley. Can anyone weigh in with a review? From what it looks like with the pic of the bottle, I guess Gallagher/Pearlescent will be using the Pearlescent bottles for the Gallagher line now? I'd love a review on this if anyone has tried it please. Thank you!!

A champagne effervescent fruity gourmand, fresh flowery and softly spiced aromatic jewel. It stays intact on my skin for over 8 hours and on fabric 12 +. This is an instant and forever love for me. Daniel and Mindy did it again, a beautiful creation. Congratulations!

I love this! This smells like blueberry pulp smashed in champagne. I don't really get any other notes listed besides patchouli. This projects greatly on me and I can smell it on me all day. I definitely will keep this in my collection.

I'm so in love with this it's insane. It's the perfect blend of sweet and bubbly but serious and deep I can't stop smelling myself.

This smells like Mists of Time, but for women. Imagine this the same scent line X but one is for men, and one for women

This frag has such a beautiful opening. Very unique, sweet, fruity, and feminine. I wish it stayed like this. The dry down turns from bright and fruity to musky/woody/green. The green note, which I'm assuming is the patchouli along with the aldehyde accord, kind of makes it smell like a car freshner. I still like the dry down, but that opening is just stunning. The opening is a playful bright blueberry cocktail on ice, while the dry down smells like new leather car interior with an air freshner. This scent is very interesting, in a good way, and worth trying. It's a gourmand that doesn't smell too much like food in the dry down. Even though this typically isn't my style of a frag, I can't help but to keep smelling my wrist. This fragrance is beautifully done.

I did a blind buy, and I liked it; however, I wouldn't recommend others to blind-buy it. The blueberry scent is clearly synthetic, it does smell like champagne but not as much as I expected, and yes, it can lean towards smelling like an air freshener / detergent. I appreciate it because I find it fresh, and I wouldn't say it's sweet at all. It lasts a very long time, but I don't feel the sillage is too strong.

I heard this one from Oliviaolfactory from Instagram. I ordered a sample. This one is not suitable for blind buy in my opinion. It is a hot day today and this scent is not for summer for sure. Reminds me of Wish and Nina Ricci Ricci. But there is something in it smells like home fragrance or detergent. It’s getting better after 2 hours though. But still it’s not for me.

Whiffs in the air are a lovely sweet blueberry, upclose more like a fizzy blueberry champagne. Very slightly creamy on skin aswell. 8/10 so far. Not sure about longevity. Smells like a really clean japanese place. Definitely leans feminine but I love to wear it as a man. Labelled as gourmand but its refreshing enough for summer. Dries down incredibly soft and lovely.

Juicy sweet fruits and citruses. I feel lime, guava and lychee with slightly metallic and powdery undertones. It also has a bit of animalic note or maybe something like overripe fruit accord with slightly sour and musky facets. But overall impression is great: unique and refreshing scent. It is a great strong fruity perfume. However, I have come to a realisation that I would prefer way more a blueberry muffin or artificial blueberry flavor type of scent. This is a lot like a rich yet not overly heavy blueberry jam or compote, with no artificial blueberry note. Yet it is not straight up food, more perfumey. Despite loving the notes in theory, I've come to a realisation that I do not enjoy them in reality, wearing them myself. This seems to be true with the combination of berries, currants, patchouli, rose an amber, as these are the common notes of Tonkazure and I Am Beautiful by Theodoros Kalotinis, which have a very distinct personality that I do not enjoy. I find them to remind me some scent from my teen years (some 15 years ago :D) that I do not enjoy and they are not gourmand enough for. Otherwise, Tonkazure is a beautiful, hight quality feminine scent and I do recommend to try it for those who are curious or like this type of scents.

It smells like this one leans more aldehydic and clean rather than gourmand. The initial spray is quite polarizing. The black currant, blueberry, and champagne notes open up bright and sour like a citrus note, then that blueberry compote settles in. About 2 min in, Tonkazure has a lovely clean blueberry tonka bean blend in the early dry down and is quite nice. This part lasts about 5 min. Further into the dry down, about 15-20 min, the tonka bean and musk stick to your skin. Overall, this scent has a very clean scent profile to me. I was hoping that it'd be more gourmand. Reminds me of a candle a bit 😕. It is exactly as Gallagher Fragrances said though and it is wearable throughout the entire year. It's nice that you can smell blueberries in this one. And with a clean scent profile, it layers effortlessly with woody, fig, and/or citrus perfumes nicely. I also love the cap to this bottle. 7/10

I agree: the opening smells like air freshener. My nose gets lemon type cleaner that I guess is supposed to be champagne. It’s takes a bit of time for the opening to resolve. Then comes the blueberry. The blueberries stay! It smells like “blueberry scent “to me, not what I would imagine blueberry compote smells like, not fresh/sour blueberries or real blueberries either. Then there’s the patchouli. Which is what makes me not want to wear it any more but I already committed and oversprayed today. It’s not a bad fragrance but it’s not for me. You can get samples on the website, try them first! :)

Opening blasts me in the face with that patchouli then settles into a very bright fruity.. pineapple? Grounded by tonka and wood but still manages to be quite sharp, not terrible but not quite for me. A little bit of plastic peeks through on dry down.

The opening is very fruity but immediately dries down to a fruit scented cleaning product smell, like as if I spilt a whole bottle of Pledge on me. It does have great sillage and longevity though.

Too mature. Overstated. Black berries, tonka and champagne, with out of place nuance. Just overdone. Unbalanced.

I was so excited about this perfume, but sadly, it has left me feeling disappointed. I do not get any of the blueberry or tonka at all. At least on me, the perfume does not read sweet by any stretch of the imagination, but rather just smells like detergent with an undertone of rubber (perhaps the champagne note?) that is pretty underwhelming. I am sure it smells wonderful on other people, but it is not for me. I strongly advise against blind buying this particular perfume.

I was really looking for a blueberry, blackcurrant type scent but this isn’t it. I like the opening of this and I get the fresh blueberries, but they disappear into the background and the champagne and rose notes take over. As it dries down further I can smell the sandalwood and champagne mainly. Not for me

The opening notes of this is so delicious and juicy, but when the middle notes set in, I get this sharp, plasticy smell. It almost smell like new car seats on a hot day. I didn’t know what was the note that gave me that smell, until I sampled another perfume with the only common note: tonka beans. The tonka beans in this perfume is too much, too dominant and too sharp for my liking. I can’t really smell any other notes besides that after the initial notes disappeared. I wanted to like it so much because how sweet and juicy the beginning is, but I guess it’s just not for me.

Ugh, the first perfume that made me open my car window this morning on the way to work. I looked at the notes when my sample arrived, but in the meantime I forgot what it was about. This morning I put it on my wrists and behind my ears. I immediately felt that it was suffocating me. Some note is very very dominant, but I can't recognize it either as blueberries or champagne. (I recently tried Dom Rosa, a fantastic champagne note! Very realistic, sparkly and pleasant.) I don't smell the mentioned notes here at all. Also a very unusual development - from opening the window 10 minutes after application, to barely feeling it on my wrists 2 hours later. At first I thought it was a combination of sea scent (azure) and tonka. I wish I could say the drydown is more pleasant, but it's not (it is a bit more dry and velvety). Buit, that sweetness that bothered me in the morning (and I normally like gourmand perfumes) is still present. I'm not a fan of jasmine in fragrances (Memo Madurai is a huge exception here), maybe that's the note that bothers me... Basically, I would agree with some of the comments below that point out that this composition is uneven, notes not well blended or they are bothered by the synthetic, fruity smell. I really try to find something good in every fragrance, but here I can't really point out anything. In my case - I can't wait to take it off and put on something to soothe my nostrils. Just too sweet, "pointy" in my sinuses, and unpleasant.

I was really intrigued by this fragrance because of the blueberry note that you don’t see quite often, so I bought a sample to try. I have some experience with fragrances with a dominant blueberry note or smell like One umbrella For two, Blueberry Morning, l’heure de Proust, ... and this one smells different. From the notes I was expecting something sweet and deep but it is actually more on the fresh side without being too light. It starts off with a sparkling champagne opening with the blueberry / blackcurrant that makes it juicy and sweet, almost to gourmand territory. The sweetness is balanced, which I like a lot. In the mid you can smell some floral aspects with maybe slight tonka in the background, which is also enjoyable. It is a really pleasant scent, but ... I expected a little bit more character, more oomph. Just a little bit. Again it is a really enjoyable scent that I think is hard to not like, but at the end of the ride the whole journey felt a bit flat. I still consider buying a whole bottle though, it is good enough for it. Quite unique as well. I mean Blueberry .... Miam

This is lovely but the price is just too high for me. Well crafted, elegant, depth, some projection. I wouldn't say that it's basic, typical, nor is it groundbreaking. I get the fruit & champagne opening. The middle melts into elegant roses, w undertones of soft musk, & a hint of jasmine... Then a little chocolate (from the tonka) begins to fade in & kind of take over as it does. It ends with Tonka lingering for a decent amount of time. Overall it's a very well made, classy, soft English rose perfume w lovely subtle undertones & Tonka ties it all together & stays w you for awhile. It does not sour on my skin. I would like the black currant & blueberry to be more defined, prominent & last at least through the heart & to have better longevity but otherwise, excellent (apart from the expensive part). It's like a romantic 💘 Valentine's evening with your lover. The bottle, captures a perfect memory of a moment in time. All you have to do is smell it & instantly it takes you back to that perfect night. I'd buy a bottle of it if it were more reasonably priced.

This came in the mail yesterday so i was able to both test and get a full wearing. The champagne sadly doesnt smell as fizzy to my nose but it is still an awesome fragrance. Mid to drydown is where it stunned me. The blueberry is very blue with tonka bean and musk to give it that lasting smell and scent bubble. not sickly sweet, fresh, jammy blueberry with musk. keeps the sharpness from the opening. I could not stop smelling. I layered this with blue talisman to try to achieve that SWEET fizzy blue punch smell i wanted to go for. pretty darn close. I'm a guy and i wore that combo to work today. A lady did like a cat rub to go around me and told me i smelled goooood. Longevity and projection did not disappoint Atomizer is nice Glad to have in my arsenal hue hue hue

When you read the notes it sounds like it's gonna be an absolute bomb frag but it's too strong at first spray and the dry down is weak. No blueberry hint at all mostly powdery. I know a champagne cologne by ETAT called remarkable people and you can really smell that fizzy champagne and it smells great. This just smells fruity and sweet like a basic fruity sweet fragrance. I would only ever get a 0.27floz bottle something that could last a little while but I won't use a lot definitely not worth 1 oz.

I love this one. I live in South Texas where it’s hot all the time, and this one works so well for me in the heat—fresh and clean and you’ll smell like no one else. I love the booziness of the champagne and the realistic fruit notes—this is not a sparkling blueberry scent, it’s more of a fermented jammy blueberry. This is sweet, warm, rich, and jammy and it’s all sitting on some delicious tonka that feels like a buttery crust on this blueberry cobbler of fragrance. It’s got that slightly fizzy note that bubbles in the distance and some lovely floral touches reminding us of its perfume nature. This fragrance needs to dry down. The opening is a bit harsh and piercing. But when the dry down happens then you get all the delicious blueberry cobbler. Yum.

Very patchouli heavy fragrance. The patchouli note is not a dirty one, it's sharp and green, in combination with champaign note, black currant, and musk... too sharp for my liking. After some time it calms down, but it's not near as smooth as Deep N Desire or Pink Me Up. After this fragrance was hyped up, it felt the temptation to blind buy it, well, I'm glad I didn't

Love this one. Signature scent worthy in my opinion and no one will smell like you. Can be worn in all 4 season as the champagne note mixes with the blueberry compote and comes off effervescent. On my second bottle and I have a large collection,this and Creed Viking are the only bottles I have had to purchase again...fantastic stuff.

Bright fruity opening with champagne which is lovely, then you get a nutty, ambery note which mixed with the fruit and tonka gives a very slight cherry vibe. This to me doesn’t blend well with the rest. Not for me. IG/Tiktot: @wilddew_vibes

The blueberry is surprisingly enjoyable! I never thought that I would have liked the smell of blueberry compote- but I love it on me. The champagne is exciting in there opening. The dry down is musky.

Not bad! I get the blueberry and slight jasmine. It’s delicate and airy to my nose. Slightly sweet. Full bottle worthy? Not really.

I have obsession about Tonka so... anything I sniff with Tonka I buy... I like this scent but its hard to get in EUrope.

Metallic blueberry fizzy drink! I love it and it’s strong! Got a compliment the first day I wore it.
