I found this to be a truly innovative piece of work, but it's lighthearted, wearable nature is probably doing a good job of masking that fact. I reckon the votes being mainly for 'like', back that theory up, because a violet/rose fragrance with animallic leather and cucumber freshness, sounds like a bit of a train-wreck or at least a polarising Love/Hate thing? London carries off the broadly floral hue of Gallivant perfumes into the opening of violets and roses, powdered and jammy but combined with fresh green notes. Nice enough so far then a subtle, buttery iris/orris accord starts to develop on a delicate woody base. Despite the rose bias, London smells like nothing I've worn before but I suppose it kinda fits into a cleaner, brighter category almost to the point of effervescence. Think Lumiere noire, lyric even. London is a really measured piece of work, I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Gallivant London is such a lovely, fresh rosy delight! I bought the oil version of this along with the Los Angeles oil, thinking the latter would be my favorite, but I find myself reaching for London with much more frequency (but definitely love both of these) -- and it's become my absolute favorite pairing with rainy days. I'd like to get the spray version of this eventually, then overspray so I can live in a cloud of this gorgeous rose-cucumber cloud. It's a moderate projector with average longevity. I have loved everything I've tried from Gallivant so far and it's quickly becoming one of my favorite independent houses.

This smells charmingly like a treasured old leather jacket in the chilly London rain. I'm not a huge fan of marine scents, but I like this one very much because the wateriness comes mostly from the combination of cucumber and violet leaf, which together produce a nice watery accord. Underneath there are roses to make everything smell nicer and lighter, and a buried central leather note that conversely adds some grit. This evokes coolness and casualness, and really does make me think of the rainy London weather. A fun fragrance, and one that is reasonably priced.

London: I picture a young woman walking in the city with smooth, dark shoulder-length hair, dressed in business clothes with an umbrella on a drizzly day. Seems to capture the ethereal meeting of water and air elements. I think this is such a beautiful perfume that embodies the idea of London for me. It is very well-blended with prominent notes of rose, cucumber, and leather that truly creates something magical. I don't think I've ever smelled a better blended rose-leather, incredibly well done.

I was dubious to begin with, but it's now my favourite perfume. There's no barn smell, no lingering old leather smell, as I was worried there would be. Beautiful crisp cucumber, violet, and Woody top notes. Delicate rose de mai, spicy yet creamy cotton, and sandalwood middle notes; it leaves lingering suede and new leather base notes. It's a smell that makes me feel inspired, and confident. I do find it hard to believe its unisex, as to me it smells fairly feminine.

I love most Gallivant perfumes but this is my favourite one. The fresh greenness of cucumber, the delicate beauty of rose, the way it smells after the rain, and the edge of leather that makes it stand out. It really smells of London to me, but at the same time it reminds me of the cool rainy weather in May in The Netherlands, where I live, with all its spring freshness of the young vividly green leaves and lilac, pink and white blossoms

Beautiful juicy grapefruit and rose opening which gradually melds into a barely animalic (castoreum?) orris leather. This is fresh and sophisticated and good for any gender and situation. Really lovely.

London Gallivant smells trendy... young damp green rose combined with salty gritty leather. The contrast works very well together. It's long lasting too.

If you like fresh spring, summer scents that are different from your run of the mill aquatics this may well be for you. An enjoyable fresh fragrance.

My first impression was: oh no, why this beautiful, and I must say unexpected, opening have to go away so quickly and all moves toward pleasant and classy, but not so interesting and original anymore. At second wearing I realized my initial disappointment was more related not to scent itself, but because it progressed not toward getting sharper and more masculine, as I hoped for, but rather in opposite direction after arrival of the rose at about 15 min mark. Due to presence of cucumber, leather and cider, at opening it had vibe of Autumn version of Phaedon Concombre - and that was direction I was hoping it would go when didn't knew what to expect at first try since I haven't saw notes pyramid. In process of progression from opening to what it would become for most of duration it really changes several times. As a matter of fact, for about 5 minutes in process of scent development it smells like pure undiluted peony and nothing else. Though I must say, as much as I usually dislike fragrances dominated by rose (as this definitely is), here rose is not overly sweet and cloying, but rather ozonic or metallic type, and in accord with other dominant note, leather (very soft here, gloves leather like), it renders entire composition perfectly suited for men. Still strong like, but not a love for me. Is it FB worthy? It depends. For me it's not because roses based scents aren't my cup of tea, and I already have few alternatives in this category in case occasion would call for this type of perfume. First comes to mind Rasasi Al Wisam Day, although not totally similar, would fill that sector for me at 1/4 price and it lasts even longer. However, if you like roses, than you definitely should try it.

The fragrance of London portrays, in its creative concept, the blend of old and new, beautiful and ugly, the Georgian architecture (typical of Anglophone countries throughout the century XVIII) with a hint of dust. London has, in its composition, notes of cucumber and violet leaves in the head; May Rose absolute, essential oil of roses and iris root, in the body; Leather, sandalwood, patchouli and cedar in the bottom. On the skin, the fragrance explodes with many violet leaves and walks towards a heart of metallic roses. Here, the roses are not dirty, nor delicate. They are like roses of a good attar, but domesticated. This is how the perfume behaves on my skin, for a long time, when a beautiful patchouli appears, slightly bitter and earthy, bringing along a subtle nuance of leather, which shows the little known side of London's long summer days. I do not know the City of London, but I know it is famous for being gray and rainy. And as much as I can perceive some diurnal nuances in the fragrance, it was exactly this feeling I had, during all the long hours that the fragrance remained on my skin: a melancholy, almost sad, of those days when the sky is dark and the rain falls without stopping, hitting on the window. London is another Gallivant fragrance that showed me a subtle and slow evolution. Many will say that it is a linear perfume, but it is not. However, one must be attentive to details, as a good tourist behaves in an unknown location, capturing all the colors, sounds and smells. If you like fragrances that are rich in violet leaves, this one was made for you.

I planned to get Istanbul but ended up blind buying this one online because of its cheap price. At first sniff I got a weird fresh scent which I absolutely disliked. I figured out it was probably the cucumber that made me reluctant to even smell it again after looking at the notes list. Although I tried it on skin, the awkward fresh aroma lingered around and I couldn't stand it that I had to wash it away. It was left with dust in the corner of my cupboard until today when I was decluttering my fragrance. I decided to give it another try before getting rid of it. After all, it is one of the award-winning fragrances from the brand. When I smelled from the cap, the odd fresh scent was still very obvious, but I managed to persuade myself to try it on skin and test it properly. Everything changed when I sprayed it on skin. The weird fresh scent was gone! Don't take me wrong. It is still a fresh scent, but a nice uplifting one with floral softening it and an airy leather giving it some depth. I caught something like lemon and it is like a glass of lemonade. I could smell it the whole day when I was working and it was so nice. Now I change my mind and decide to test it for a few days before making my final judgement. Its longevity is around 6 hours, which is not extraordinary, concerning it is a perfume oil. The projection is modest. For the first 1-2 hours, I could smell it with my mask on, but after that I had to take off my mask and put my nose on my wrist to smell it. Not a bad scent overall but nothing ground-breaking as well.

On my skin the cucumber - or fresh cucumber peels rather - is way dominant and stays constant for a good few hours. It's kind of trippy, cause in my mind the scent of cucumber is so closely tied to the scent of vinegar (where I come from the dressing for cucumber salad is mostly vinegar based). Luckily, however, there's no vinegar to be found here, but just fresh cucumber with slight floral and leafy undertones. Personally I only get the leather note when I bring my nose up very close to my skin. It's one of the mildest and most polite leather notes I ever smelled. I don't get any cedar, patch, orris or cinnamon whatsoever. To me this is not so much a stable - it's missing the pungent scent of pellet treats and a much stronger leather for that - but rather the scent of someone, who goes to a horse stable daily and thus has the scent clinging to their jacket, arriving at your garden party. All over I find this to be a quite interesting fresh unisex scent with a rather unusual central note. With both decent sillage and longevity quality wise as well there is nothing to complain about. It may not be 100% up my alley, which is why I wouldn't purchase a full bottle, but I can see this becoming a favorite for some people. Nice one.

London is another neat freshie from Gallivant, this time entailing a curious aquatic-like use of cucumber mixed with florals (violet, rose de mai), and a modestly-implemented base of orris, leather, and cedar. It shares in its siblings' accomplishments of blending interesting fresh accords with an interesting dry down. Each of Nick Steward's scents evolve fascinatingly, and London is no exception. I can see how some might regard the opening as more ozonic than aquatic--regardless, for me, it works well, and relatively quickly gives way to the floral heart and more serous base. Overall, an easy wear to make work year-round and for any wearer, quite agreeable. Performance is decent but not outstanding (it dries down to a skin scent a bit more quickly and decisively than some of the others) so at $95 for 30ml, one needs to really connect with one in order to deem them full-bottle-worthy. 7 out of 10

First up I think this truly is a city perfume. I don't get any farmyard or country smells. No pretty florals or juicy fruit. It reminds me of the scent of a glossy magazine. The underground ( dust). There is definitely rose. Not sweet though. On spraying on my skin I first notice a bright green scent. Quite strong. I don't recognise it as cucumber . Then the rose and then sandalwood. The overall impression is sophisticated. The bright green calms down but does linger. I find the scent as a whole then lasts quite well on me. I would not choose to wear this for a romantic dinner. But during the day at work or shopping in town, or an evening at the theatre it would be on my list. I like it.

I haven't had great luck with this house, but London is one of its most successful offerings in my opinion. The combination of rose, cucumber, and leather, all carrying equal weight, is really appealing and just a hair left-of-center. It's both fresh and earthy, and the rose note here reminds me of pure rosewater, which is a nice nod to both the classic "English rose" and the Middle Eastern influences that characterize contemporary London. The leather is supple and refined, and is nicely offset by the light scent of violet leaf. London light and easy but not boring - a classic "cool girl" scent that doesn't want to rock the boat.

London opens with a lot of patchouli and leather. For almost 15 minutes all I can smell is a mix of patchouli, leather, woody notes and a hint of roses. Its frustrated because I tried so hard to love it. I sprayed it on my skin and waiting and waiting but finally gave up and bought Brooklyn instead. An hrs or so some interesting scent hit my noses and guided me back to my wrist where I found a sweet perfectly blended of cedar, rose, leather, orris, and a hint of patchouli. It's like an elegant London man with everything is just right about him.

The opening is a super fresh cucumber with a light rose/violet essence. Then after a few minutes it turns into “a leather saddle that’s been hanging in a barn” scent. The rose and violet leaf is still there, but it’s an odd transition and on my skin it leans smokey and powdery. I’m intrigued and I think London is very daring. I can imagine this working on an escentric, creative person. I don’t think it works on me, and that doesn’t mean it’s a downvote, just not something I want to wear. Solid performance.

I think this scent does remind me of London. A sharp ozone start with fresh green fades to dusty old rose and that lovely aroma you get when you open the pages of a brand new magazine. This is a city of many green spaces but also dusty underground tube stations and commerce. I like this scent but it doesn’t wear well on my skin sadly. I think it is probably more of a female scent but not too feminine.

This is very heretic. Fresh cucumber in the opening, but maily dominated by rose de mai and leather. A freshie with a touch. I was lucky to try these through the subscription service by Sniph. I would never otherwise even look at the notes. Daring and safe at the same time. A must-try for rose fans. Not for everyone.

A different type of perfume for me, I usually prefer a gourmand rather than something fresh like this, but I love it. Its perfect for a spring time rainy day in London. Leather and cucumber jump out at me, and it has a freshness that's perfect for this season.

Rose and animalic leather. But there is also something fresh here. I don't think it is the cucumber, I think it is the patchouli imitating mint. Interesting, but I wouldn't buy it. Long-lasting. This has impressive longevity.

London opens with a dewy-green, cucumber-tinged, pale pink rose. Is it a little cliched and precious? Sure, but it smells good. Over a few minutes, it somehow gets even colder and wetter, with a surprisingly photorealistic rain note. An hour or so later I get a touch of darkness that might be the “leather”. By now the aquatic notes have gone shrill and annoying. oh well. Pretty soon the whole thing has faded to a low hum. We are at Kew Gardens, it’s raining, and the roses are in bloom. Zero ambiguity on the brief; like “Tel Aviv” (sunshine and tropical flowers) it’s pretty clear how the scent connects to the namesake city. (Gallivant sometimes flops on this front. What’s especially “Brooklyn” about a shortbread cookie? Or “Gdansk” about raisins?) London’s not an exceptional fragrance, but it does the job and is fun for a while.

The cucumber and violet note together create an almost lychee-like fruitness as a top note - wet and sweet, followed by rose and what I can only describe as "urban petrichor" - the smell of a city after the rain. Grey skies and drizzle, with a bit of sunshine peeking over the horizon. I'm sure it's leather/orris/patchouli combined with some aquatic and mineral notes, but it's lovely. Having lived in London for fifteen-odd years, I did think of the city certainly when I put this on. Doesn't last more than 90 minutes and sillage is low. However, I do have the oil-roller version though so note sure how that compares to the EDP.

First spritz was lovely...but then it quickly becomes all about the rose which is just not for me! I would imagine if you love rose scents this will be a lovely fresh one for you. And it seems to last well ...which is unfortunate for me!! I shouldnt be surprised - Gallivant make nice perfumes!

Super realistic rose scent, smells like a botanical garden

Gallivant scents take their inspiration from cities, and so, London is, predictably, a fresh rose scent. I am partial to rose in perfume, but this perfume is a disappointment. It is a fresh, aquatic rose, and while I like rosewater-like soliflores in warm weather (Paul Smith Rose, Jo Malone Red Roses etc.), London is too aquatic and synthetic for my liking. London is at its best at the opening, where the watery cucumber imbues the lightweight rose with dewy freshness. Some violet adds delicate greenness, complementing the watery rose accord to perfection. Here, it smells like a green-tinged fresh rose soliflore, and seems off to a promising start. However, after a little while, it becomes dry and ozonic, with a chemical, mineralic edge. I get the leather nuance, but it comes across as a part of the synthetic amber musk that forms the base, melding with the ozonic quality. It is lightweight and airy at least, but the rose dissipates. Dry woods creep in as it fades, but the chemical, ozonic musk lingers. Sillage and longevity are moderate. It is a feminine-leaning, warm weather scent for daytime use. Too synthetic for my liking, this aquatic rose is underwhelming in my opinion, but will appeal to some. Buy Perfumer's Workshop Tea Rose or MFK À La Rose instead. 2/5.

If leather scents are your thing, this might be for you; however, if you are like me and are not a big fan of leather, this is not going to be the scent that changes your mind. I wanted to like this one, but after about 5 hours I couldn't take it anymore and finally had to scrub it off. At first spray, I get a blast of rose that is quickly overtaken by leather and only leather. I do not even get a hint of anything fresh or any florals. There is also something in here that feels very sharp and headache-inducing - that feeling that the scent stings the inside of your nose. After reviewing the list of notes, I cannot figure out what might be causing that and it might just be the way this fragrance interacts with my skin chemistry. I've loved every other scent I've tried from Gallivant, so it could just be that this one is not the right match for me without there being anything wrong with it at all. Definitely recommend trying before you buy.

Screechy floral top note that smells slightly acrid. Bitter, green, aromatic. Exhibits the hallmarks I’m coming to expect from reviewing the rest of the line, screechy aroma chemicals but with a nice bottle and great story which unfortunately it doesn’t live up to. Wanted to love them but can’t lie to myself about its quality, composition and wearability. All except Amsterdam they all feel quite cheap, quite generic and disposable despite Nick’s great, original story behind the brand. Disappointing...

one of the top notes smells exactly like bug spray and another is a super synthetic cucumber smell - like a cucumber melon body spray from the drug store. after drying down, the 'leather' note is more noticeable, but it's less 'leather' than it is the smell of a barnyard that maybe has some leather saddles stored somewhere. scrubbed this off immediately <3

If you like rose, leather fragrances this is for you. Opens up fresh and ozonic, dries down to a heavy rose, leather with a green twist scent. I personally don't like it, the rose is predominant and it becomes a linear fragrance.

I really wanted to like this, but all I get is sour cucumber with a hint of barnyard. There's something reminiscent of Elizabeth Arden Sunflowers here.

Summer fragrance for women with sea notes, rose and cucumber. Not my cup of tea. It's hard to believe it was a finalist of some prestigious award.

Try before you buy! The cucumber and rose makes it a very special scent. To me it’s not pleasant at all....

I was trying, after the first faintly floral moments, to figure out what I was experiencing: then it came to me. A horse stables. A clean stable, with dusty leather, hay, herbaceous grass wafting in from the outside, and maybe the faint trace of the fragrance the owner wore when she walked through 20 minutes ago. Now and then something cucumber-y breaks through. It's a very interesting scent, and I'll use up my sample, but it doesn't provoke the delight that makes me want more.

If you like Diptyque’s Eau Rose EDT there’s a chance you will like this. Eau Rose is like a transparent water colour, whereas London is a watery rose with other facets, making it more lively and youthful. The opening cucumber note can be a bit challenging for some, but it doesn’t last very long. It’s a pretty, light, and bright rose, which is inoffensive to most. I like it.

I am a woman and London is very nice for career women ! Smells like classy , lively London, then the bookstores (is it leather ?), the prestigious neighborhoods, then the theater.... IT IS LONDON ! We like it. Women at work love it too for daywear. It is not boring at all. Very very London.

If I was in need of a safe scent, nice and inoffensive, this would be perfect. It fits me seamlessly (I don't get much of the cucumber/rose though, violets and patchouli dominate BY FAR), but it's also a bit too safe for me to love it.

File this under "bizarre" but after 5 minutes on skin, I am getting straight-up horse barn. This is not a bad thing, but very surprising. I'm getting everything from fresh hay to leather to....horse. Wow!

This is the British sexy lover of Killian’s Roses on Ice. The Orris, Sandalwood, and Violet add a cream like quality where Patchouli and Leather is softened. The cucumber and rose core is effervescent.

It smells like a band-aid. And slightly like cucumber. If you like the smell of a bandaid on a cucumber, then this is the scent for you.

It smells like burning plastic and wood. It's synthetic to me.
