Chocolate Ganache

One of the best bakers I ever knew would make a batch of fudge whenever she baked a pan of brownies and she'd use the fudge to frost the brownies. Oh, yeah, a thick layer of fudge, too! Chocolate overload for sure, but oh, good lord were they ever good with an ice cold glass of milk. Now imagine the fragrance in her kitchen with the saucepan of fudge bubbling on the stove as she takes the pan of brownies out of the oven. That alluring, sweet, comforting, intensely chocolate aroma is exactly what Chocolate Ganache smells like. This isn't a bowl of coco puffs cereal, not a cup of hot cocoa or a milk chocolate candy bar. No, Chocolate Ganache smells the way deep, dark chocolate tastes. Adult chocolate, if you will. Lasts a good 8-10 hours on my skin and is noticeable on my clothes for a couple of days. It's lovely and relaxing when I wear it at home but I wear it in public, too. I know the sillage is noticeable because I always get compliments. If you love chocolate you need a bottle of Chocolate Ganache. Yes, it's discontinued, but starting today, Friday the 13th of November, 2020, it's back for just a week during an early Black Friday sale. You know you want it. Go ahead - it's going to be a long COVID winter and Chocolate Ganache will surely spark some joy.

Going to work tonight smelling like a pan of chocolate brownies warm from the oven! Coworkers are always friendlier when I smell like chocolate & what's not to like about that? I'm so sad that Ganache Parfums is discontinuing this marvelous elixir. I have many, many chocolate fragrances and this is one of my top 2 favorites, the other being Dame's Chocolate Man. Chocolate Man is pure milk chocolate on me and Chocolate Ganache is its perfect dark chocolate fraternal twin. I couldn't choose between them, each is THAT good. Each lasts a good 8-10 hours on me and each smells delicious the whole time. I've decided to make the winter of 2018-2019 my Winter of Gourmands and Chocolate Ganache is starting it out with a bang!

I got this gem last year in their black friday sale. This smells like the richest chocolate fudge brownies/cake ever! no kidding, dark chocolate with heavy cream, liquor and dense vanilla. Amazing! still strong after several hours with moderate projection. This has to be probably the most realistic chocolate scent around. I think this is nicer than chocolate greedy by montale. This is a good blind buy if you are craving a true realistic (and patchouli free) chocolate scent.

The absolute chocolate-iest scent there is. Amazing and the sillage and longevity are good for me (for such a gourmand and sweet scent).. Smell like a chocolate factory. Yummmmm I agree, it’s not something I would (or do) wear on really any occasion other than sitting around in my apartment... (and since it’s Covid time up here in Canada such as everywher; I’m home a lot). A cool one for the collection of unique scents.

I echo the previous review. I actually read the review even before I tried the sample, but wow I was not expecting that intensity of richness! This is very close in my book to becoming a perfect chocolate scent, but honestly I find the earthy accord in the drydown off-putting. Still, I can only detect that if I smell it up close, so as long as I get only wafts of it it's not a problem. My only other critique would be that this smells... dry. It's as is you were made the most incredible chocolate ganache cake in the world but somebody forgot about it and left it out of the fridge for a day or two. It still has the same richness and quality you'd expect from the most magnificent chocolate ganache ever, but it's not quite the same as having it fresh. Actually, it may have something to do with that overly earthy note again. Personally, I think this scent would benefit A LOT from a long-lasting mild water accord or something like a juicy tangerine in the background to help it smell less "dry." Other than that it's pretty damn awesome. Projection is high, longevity I'm not sure about yet but it's definitely at least average. EDIT: I have determined that the earthy note is likely the "moist chocolate brownie" note. The whole composition smells absolutely incredible for 2-3 hours, easily among the elite of chocolate gourmand perfumes. Once the other notes die down, though, the brownie note seems to stop smelling "moist" and starts smelling "dirty." FINAL VERDICT: High recommend as long as you don't stick your nose into it during the drydown.

Chocolate.......when this starts out, it reminds me of Baker's chocolate, the one that when you were a kid, you asked your Mom for a bite and she gives it to you, just to find that it's absolutely bitter with no sugar and now Mom is smiling and knowing that you learned that life lesson. In the opening, I get a little liquor with the chocolate and a tiny bit of whipped cream or vanilla, for just a slight sweetness, but the chocolate is dominant. Then the whipped cream and vanilla start to become stronger and it becomes sweeter than the sharp chocolate it started with. I use it to layer with other perfumes such as Extraordinary by Avon, Love Diane by Diane von Furstenberg, any coffee scents, perfumes with a weak chocolate note, and many of the other Ganache fragrances. This lasts quite a while and the sillage is moderate......but people will smell it, believe me. I think my bottle is from around 2017 or prior to then and it is still just as good as it was back then.

This is really nice. I think it's best experienced in quick sniffs -- sometimes chocolate syrup, sometimes powdery cocoa, sometimes more earthy with a hint of patchouli. The alcohol notes are interesting. Sometimes they feel a little chemical and give an air freshener vibe, but the cleanness isn't strong enough to be offputting. It also seems to fade once the first hour is past. All and all it is a solid chocolate with interesting nuance. The best part was a couple hours in when it melds with your skin and becomes musky -- like you suddenly developed the ability to sweat chocolate. I got about 8 hours of wear, so the longevity is OK.

The top notes of this are amazing. They are the same as Dame Chocolate Oil / Chocolate Man. However, while those are very linear scents, Chocolate Ganache evolves, with the top notes fading into a hint of booziness. The final drydown resembles rich baking cocoa without the powderiness. Like many of the other Ganache perfumes I've tried, this one lasts HOURS on clothes, although it won't project for more than the first hour or two.

Mega chocolate scent, with a thick cherry cordial running through it (I know it’s not listed, but yes, I smell candied cherries). Yummy and lovely, and a bit too much for warm weather. I can’t imagine wanting to eat....errr...wear this more than a couple of times a year. If I wear Chocolate Ganache more than a few days, I get the feeling my pants won’t zip up. For serious gourmand fans. Solid like.

Finally a true unisex frag from Ganache! Not as sweet as I thought it would be as the boozy notes do impact the scent nicely. I am really shocked that they pulled this off. I have only worn it once but projection is above average and longevity is a solid 8 hours. This is the best of the 4 or so that I have tried from the house.

An intense chocolate scent. It smells like you've rubbed a melted dark chocolate bar all over your body; that same ultra sweet & mildly-bitter dark chocolate smell. A heavy gourmand scent. I like the smell but it's not something I'd wear. A winter scent for sure. "Like".

Finally received this in the mail from a Black Friday promotion. Must be a small operation so the slower packing & shipping is understandable. I had been looking for a perfect chocolate scent since I found my ultimate coffee/cherry/peach/blah blah I get obsessed with a certain note every season and waste a lot of money blind buying & giving away crap until I’m happy. Anyhoo! I will stop looking because I can’t afford this lunacy and “Chocolate Ganache” is FINE. It’s long lasting, which is a pleasant surprise. It’s also kinda cheapo in a chocolate liqueur way- but not totally plastic & insufferable like the Demeter or Dua chocolate variations. Ummm- The label on my bottle was smudged from (minor) leaked perfume during shipping and is not very attractive. Oh well.

I appreciate chocolate in scents, but this is ALL chocolate. If you want to smell like a chocolate factory wear this. I would maybe layer one spray with another scent in which you would want to amplify the chocolate note. I don't really get any of the booze or alcohol, I get pretty linear chocolate. It's not bad, but in my opinion, I've smelled better (but not at this price point). Anyway, this is a pass from me

It smells like straight up chocolate liqueur, so accurate it's almost unwearable. I think I'll be swapping/reselling this.

It took a month to receive the OG version but this one was worth the wait. The perfumer must work in small batches. Smells like a Hostess chocolate cupcake would taste. I like CG more than Montale’s Chocolate Greedy & Demeter’s Dark Chocolate because it’s not as dry. It’s a spongy moist cupcake with a dark liquor Chocolate Ganache filling. Not too sweet, just right. I believe I have enough chocolate perfumes! Looking for the perfect pistachio or hazelnut dessert fragrance next.

I just received a lovely sample pack from Ganache Parfums today. (formerly Haught Parfums) Chocolate Lava cake is a rich, decadent, dark chocolate scent with incredible siliage and longevity. I detect something almost earthy in the dry down- similar to a weak patchouili (might be the Gran Marnier). It smells like Chocolate Wasted on steroids. If you love CW- you have to try this!

It turned out to be such a thick smell of bitter chocolate that I could not wear it. Chocolate here literally knocks down and monotonously sticks to the skin and lasts for the whole day, absolutely without changing its intensity. This is a reference chocolate, but really too overpowering. For genuine chocolate lovers!
