Gin Fizz

Very hot and humid right now... can't bear to even look at any of my orientals, leathers or candy/cookie/fruity gourmands. No, the heat and humidity cry out for aquatics, sharp greens and citrus. So Gin Fizz seemed a great choice after I dried off post-shower and immediately felt damp again as the thick, humid air grabbed hold of me. This is the kind of weather that drains your energy, melts the make-up off your face and makes you grateful for having purchased an effective antiperspirant! Bright, tart lemon blends with forest fresh juniper, both the greens and the berries, creating an actual fizzy aspect! No musk to my nose and just enough sugar to temper the sharp, aromatic bite of juniper. Not even the barest hint of lemon scented household cleanser, perhaps because the blend strikes me as more gin & ginger ale rather than gin and tart tonic water. Sprays on with an oily sheen and, unlike most citrus fragrances, Gin Fizz starts out strong and stays that way for a good 8-10 hours. Linear on my skin; it finishes as strong as it starts, like a good gin cocktail should! Gin Fizz has apparently been discontinued which makes me regret not having grabbed a 2nd bottle, especially since I loved it from the day it came in the mail last summer. Although Gin Fizz is definitely a citrus aromatic fragrance, I don't find it cooling so much as energizing. It's what you wear when you know you've got to get on with things despite the heat, not what you reach for when all you want to do is stand still or sit down until the sun sets and the crickets sing the song that makes the fireflies flicker and dance.

Gin Fizz is a refreshing, tart yet smooth, very long lasting natural lemon scent. The juniper berries and juniper pine are equally strong and completely natural. Very unisex, NOT syrupy sweetened lemonade. A small touch of sugar is used just enough to enhance the natural sweetness of juniper berries and keep the lemon from being too sharp or sour. No boozy alcohol here. The white musk adds longevity and pleasing airy freshness. Gin Fizz is perfect for everyone. It's bright, uplifting, delicious and amazingly long lasting. On my skin , it lasts easily 12 hours, with moderate projection, then wears close to skin after 8 hours, still delightfully noticeable. If you've searched for a citrus scent that lasts and projects well, this is for you. Perfect for hot summers when you need a refreshing lift. It couldn't be a more perfect blend ! To my surprise, I get compliments galore when I wear Gin Fizz ! I love it !

If you're looking for a nice easy to wear, spring and summer, gin scent... keep looking. I bought this scent blind based on the notes listed here. Ganache is closing, so their scents were $25. Even for $25, I feel like I should have passed on this house. Out of 6 fragrances, only 1 do I like. It is VERY synthetic. I get a big burst of lemon, which mellows a little in about 5 minutes, and then you can smell a little of the underlying musk. That's it, I feel like they didn't really even try to smooth it out. It is a soviet lemon toilet cleaner from my childhood. I thought about using this as a room freshener, and even then I don't really want to smell it again.
