Mama Joe

As I write this I'm aware that only 2 of us Fragrantica members own this. I'm also aware that once Ganache's current supply is gone there will be no more produced. So, this FABULOUS hot chocolate fragrance created in 2017 and apparently owned by hardly anyone, is already discontinued. I absolutely love chocolate fragrances and coffee fragrances. Love. Truly love. L-O-V-E them. Mama Joe combines chocolate and coffee notes in a way that smells deliciously edible. I could drink this, lick it off my wrist... heat it up and pack a thermos of it to take on a long winter walk in the snow. Lasts 4-6 hours on skin and well over 24 hours on fabric. My scarf smells like I spent the day in a packed Starbucks where everyone had ordered café au lait dosed with chocolate syrup and topped with cocoa powder. I wore Mama Joe to work last week and can report the sillage is powerful, too. Coworkers with whom I had little need to interact kept coming up to me to strike up conversations. Mama Joe attracts friendly attention. If you love gourmand chocolate or coffee fragrances you really owe it to yourself to snap up a bottle of Mama Joe before she disappears.

I own three of this particular collection from 2017: Mama Joe, One-Legged Joe (on a recommendation from here), and Lushious Joe. As someone else mentioned, there is some overlap between the fragrances but none are exactly alike. I wanted coffee gourmands and that's what I got. Mama Joe has a bitter opening on my skin and takes a little time to settle in but once it does, it's a really good coffee/chocolate/amber perfume with a beautiful drydown. I get at least 8 hours out of it and a long time on clothing. The sillage is strong at first and then becomes moderate as it goes on. It's also unisex to me. If you like gourmand coffee scents, Ganache Parfums coffee line is a good one to try if they are still out there.

I own bottles of both Mama Joe and Lushious Joe. There is a lot of overlap between the two. And you have to really (and I mean really) like sweet, gourmand scents to wear either of these. In my mind they are both fall/winter scents. Mama Joe has the better opening which is brief combination of coffee liqueur and dark chocolate that quickly fades to coffee and amber. Lushious Joe starts out even sweeter but has the better finish, which combines coffee, whiskey and juniper, which gives it a slight floral edge. I can't see myself wearing either of these regularly, but I enjoy them when I'm in the right mood.

Mama Joe is truly unisex. Not too sweet for men to wear. Spiced dark chocolate is deep, heavy and dry. Coffee is strong, rich and black. A slight touch of steamed milk smooths the blend and a touch of amber gives Mama Joe long lasting power. On my skin, Mama Joe lasts easily 6 hours with moderate projection. After that, it becomes a very soft close to skin scent that stays until I wash it off. Mama Joe really does draw compliments from everyone ! People want to hang around you when you wear this scent. Delicious, warm, rich and decadent. I LOVE it !
