Lime and Basil

Of the entire Gandini 1896 line of Eau de Colognes, this one surprised me the most with its absolutely wonderful, fresh & crisp composition! Although I love Lime & Basil in fragrance, this was crafted wonderfully! This is definitely a "green" scent in how it smells, however the citrus is more than just lime - I definitely picked up the bergamot & the slight warmth of tangerine. The transition to the key note in the heart (aromatic basil) is accompanied by a very nice white thyme (a note I know very well from classic citruses). I agree here with sherapop that the florals are hidden under the green notes and accompaning citrus & herbs, however this is not linear and a floral touch is noticed (just not strong enough to stand out as individual notes in the heart), but definitely do integrate well into the dry down. This is really invigorating, radiant and "sparkling" as querelle mentions - indeed! One of my favorites from the entire line. This rivals Aromatic Green EdT's that I have that cost far more!! Superb ingredients that are natural and so well-blended. The base is where you really see just how good this Eau de Cologne is. The vetiver is clean, but offers a wonderful bit of green sharpness along with the really nice patchouli (which appears here as a deep green/earthy note). The depth doesn't make the dry down heavy at all...it just makes this a richer composition. The citrus lasts through the heart and the herbs well into the dry down. This is a fantastic bottle of juice! Very good projection for the first 90 minutes - 2 hours and then a great skin scent for another 3-4 hours (and even longer on fabric). I apply all of the Gandini 1896 line (and all Eau de Colognes for that matter) to my shirt to increase both longevity and projection. Here, it works wonderfully. The word is out on this line - it is niche quality from a house that most have never heard of! I bought the entire line as tester bottles, to have the notes readily available, at a great discounted price. I have found that layering works well with some scents and dry downs don't interfere with changing to another similar scent. I have also done a daytime wear of Lime & Basil as it dried down to the nice green and slightly earthy base of vetiver & patchouli - and layered a quality EdT Vetiver bottling on top (without washing this off). It was wonderful! Very highly recommended! Salud!

Lime a Basilico is an exquisite and fresh summer scent. I just got it in the mail yesterday. I wore it this morning to work and I feel fresh and clean. The basil, lime, patchouli and vetiver make an excellent combination. Not strong, just right and I love that.

This is very nice, well balanced and a perfect spring/summer day scent or even dinner on a summer night.For business or casual, love it, it's pleasant, long lasting and not over the top welcome addition to my collection.

I LOvE THIS! Crisp, clean, lasts! Wearing it makes me feel good. A Jo Malone Lime Basil and Mandarin dupe. I actually like it better than Jo Malone. The price is a bonus. Very nice.

good alternative of JM lime basil and mandarin it has good quality and it doesn't smell cheap at all clean green crisp I love this one the scent can't be judge by its price

Gandini 1896 LIME E BASILICO is a brisk green cologne in the spirit of Bond no 9 CENTRAL PARK. I was reminded immediately of the latter upon spritzing this on because of the basil and citrus combination. There are different florals in the two compositions, but the herbs (basil and thyme) and the citrus (lime, mandarin and bergamot) loom so very large that the florals pale in comparison. According to my tester bottle, the flowers of this cologne are orris and lily. Crisp, clean, green without being sharp or mean, and completely natural smelling, LIME E BASILICO is a refreshing warm weather cologne with a real wake-up effect. The patchouli and the vetiver in the drydown give this creation some depth and the florals soften the green a bit. This is a bracing cologne, but a very natural smelling one, and it's a pleasure to wear. Although this cologne (really an edt...) is probably more likely to appeal to guys than to gals, I happen to like it a lot.

A sparkling eau de cologne full of virtues. Citruses and herbs playing with divine patchouli, making it one of the most feel good eau de colognes out there. It's classy, it's beautiful and it lasts. I'm completely hooked on it. Completely.

A nice cologne, soft, long lasting and easy to wear in summer, not suffocating. I like the fact it is extremely cheap but doesn't smell cheap at all. Good italian cologne. Don't expect to be blown away though...

Very fresh and clean. Not very strong fragance but it's perfect in her way ! Nice one by Gandini!
