Geir Ness for Men

This one deserves more attention than it gets. Like so many, I first smelled this one at the Norway pavilion in Epcot Center - a strange place to experience a fragrance, but interesting nonetheless. If this were a featured fragrance at the typical Sephora, it would probably outsell Acqua di Gio - seriously. This is a soft and cool fragrance that can be worn year round. In the absence of specific notes, it can be difficult to discern what's actually going on here. You get primarily floral notes on top - perhaps some orange blossom, lavender, the suggestion of iris, and a nice dollop of wild herbs. The base is primarily vanilla, but there is assuredly some woodiness here as well - not cedar or sandalwood but more akin to oak (as in wine barrels) or birch. In the drydown, the effect might be called "guerlain-lite" - also somewhat similar to Caron's Pour un Homme due to the lavender-vanilla interaction. Lastly, this actually has very good longevity as well - at least 7-8 hours. Geir runs about $60 for 100 ml. For the money, this is one of the best bargains out there. On the one hand, I'm glad this isn't too popular or well-known (so those of us that wear it feel unique). On the other, this is so much better than most of the designer frags out there and I'm tired of smelling populous crap like Allure Homme Sport, 1 million, and others. That brings to mind another comparison - most guys who wear YSL L'Homme should switch to this. This and the YSL are similar, but this one is both fresher and more subtle.

This is a niche fragrance made by the Norweigan perfumer Geir Ness as supposedly representing the spirit of Norway as a country. It is advertised as smelling like "crisp mountain air" and is made of high-quality ingredients. I first smelled this at the Norway pavillion at Epcot in Disneyworld, and was smitten by the fragrance almost immediately. The whole giftshop smells like this, while also being high in air conditioning, so it gives the effect of mountain air. I can't really pinpoint the notes in this that well, except for smelling a green undercurrent, and lots of sweet herbal and floral notes. It gets sweeter over time with something that smells like vanilla to my nose. It does give me the sense of mountain air but also sweet herbs growing in the underbrush. Some people say this is like the niche version of Chanel's Allure Homme Sport - I can't say since I haven't sampled the Chanel. Projection is very good. It projects in the air but in a subtle, non-cloying way. While longevity is fairly good, running at around 3 hours of strong projection and then as a skin scent many more hours after that. Overall, I really love this fragrance and it's one of my favourite scents. I really like pairing it with Pinaud Clubman, if using it after a shave (they are in a similar category of sweet, masculine floral scents). It doesn't really smell like anything else out there, and I will always be nostalgic about it since it reminds me of Epcot. 5/5

Just got this fragrance today from an online purchase and decided to wear it to work, and boy is this stuff familiar smelling (but in a good way). I am not sure what Allure Homme Sport smells like, but I do have several bottles of Versace Pour Homme (which apparently is supposed to smell a lot like Allure Homme Sport). I absolutely love Versace Pour Homme, to me it reminds me of going to the pool with friends during summer when I was a kid. Perfect summertime/hot weather fragrance which has amazing performance despite being a 'freshie'. Geir Ness to me is incredibly close smelling to Versace Pour Homme, however Geir Ness is a bit more 'musky', a tiny bit spicy, and much sweeter (it actually has a bit of a unisex vibe to it IMO). It's not as sporty as Versace Pour Homme, but still has that unmistakable DNA. If left without direct comparison, I bet many would identify Geir Ness as Versace Pour Homme. The very core of this scent is nearly identical (at least to my nose). A great way to look at this frag is to consider it as the older brother, and evening version, of Versace pour Homme. They are two very distinct scents that are surprisingly similar (if that makes any sense). Also ironically, both my Geir Ness and Versace Pour Homme bottles have the worst sprayers ever.. they seem to get 'stuck' more often than not after a spray. I think of all the 60+ fragrances I own, these are the only two that do that. Weird, right??

i have been testing this out and I am really enjoying this fragrance, it is a delightful aromatic clean smelling, masterfully blended floral/citrus/musk. Geir Ness does lean toward a sweeter vibe but just enough to not over doing it. As sweet as a man can smell and still smell masculine. Geir Ness was an instant winner for my wife.. she commented several times about how much she enjoyed the fragrance. Geir Ness is a wonderful fragrance for the office and yet is romantic. I get excellent projection and longevity from a small amount. Very positive feedback for me after trying it out at work. I tried it with 3 short sprays. GN would make a marvelous signature fragrance. A very versatile fragrance IMO. On me this seems to be a linear fragrance and does seem to be long lasting. I am trying to think what does this remind me of ? I just cannot put my finger on it but I think if you enjoy fragrances like Platinum Egoiste or Pour Monsieur from Chanel. This sort of reminds me of that clean fresh smell you get from fabric softener .. maybe a cherry thrown on top. Nice stuff.

Geir Ness is really unique: a crisp, effervescent cherry soap with grasses and herbs, and the slightest bit of vanilla. It's very sweet, but maintains its freshness surprisingly well and thus for me remains a summer scent, though fairly winter-compatible. The best analogy I can think of is a midsummer day high in the mountains, where the wind and the altitude prevent it from ever getting very hot. Like my old cheapo Coty Gravity, the florals are distinctively fizzy and polleny, but here they last into the base. In general, the scent changes very little but I don't think that's a problem. But what's the association that always brings a smile to my face with Geir? It took a while for me to recognize it, but the box where I keep my collection, even while not holding a bottle of Geir, smells like Geir. Geir smells remarkably close to the average of all the scents I own. It's fresh and sweet, summer and winter at the same time.

This has a very similar tune to that of Allure Homme Sport. I have seen people say it doesn't but I own both, just receiving Geir recently. Now the difference is that Geir has a vanilla aroma, where AHS has the sort of synthethic citrus. I think Geir would definitely be more classy, mature and maybe appealing to the masses. I call it the sweet nothing. Nothing stands out in the scent yet it is outstanding. Think of Tim Duncan. You are never wowed by his game, but he will possibly go down as one of the top 5 players to play the game and maybe the best at his position. It is spicy, sweet, floral with a hint of citrus. Projection is above average and longevity is perfect. I wouldn't see anyone not wanting to smell like this and this could be the one bottle guy's one bottle! Overall I give it a 5 out of 5. It is everything you want without being anything you don't want. The only thing it lacks is the marketing ingenuity.

Great scent for a great price - when I first applied it I found it way too sweet and floral, but after waiting a bit it improves a huge amount. It dries down to this musky rose scent that is extremely attractive. I consider it sort of like a cousin of the Victorinox Swiss Army Classic with a more satisfying drydown. The vibe I get from it is almost like cotton candy with the sugary-soft-floral elements. With all the talk of Norwegian mountains I was expecting it to be a bit sharper and fresher like mountain air, maybe with mint or pine but I love the way it is even so. The biggest thing you need to know about this is that it's on the feminine side of unisex - I'm a guy and like it this way but if you exclusively like sharp/sporty stuff like Bleu de Chanel then this is not for you. Overall this may become my signature fragrance - quality stuff for the right price and it stands out.

very tough for me to describe this as the first time I used it I knew I had smelled something similar but wasnt sure if it was chanel allure homme sport that some compare it to-albeit this being for older men.Chanel Allure Homme sport is too citrusy and sharp for my taste and I really dont see the connection here. I do identify the floral,soft citrus and yes,it is toned-down spicily sweet.it doesnt offer much by way of transitions.what you get after 10 minutes is pretty much what you get 24 hours later in my opinion though toned down. It is a sweet,soft-smelling fragrance which when over sprayed can be overwhelming to the nose after all this is an EDP-comes in 50ml and 100ml. the bottle I must say is a thing of beauty. highly recommended for those who want slightly sweet,citrus floral scents.

Vintage bottle (rounded corners) Batch 35790 Somewhat darker honey color than you see in most pics from age perhaps? When a Youtube fragrance reviewer I like recommended this for Spring, and I saw it is from a Norwegian designer and has a huge following, I imagined crisp, clean air and bright, flowering bulbs in rich soil framed by snow-capped mountains. When I saw it is an actual men's fragrance, not the new unisex norm and that the slogan is "The Power of Norway." I thought,"Like... ALL the power of Norway? In this little bottle?!" yeah, sign me up, I want to be like one of those descendants of vikings you see in the strongman competitions. When I smelled it, however, I got super-synthetic flowers, honey and Riiiiicolaaaaaaaaa! A medicinal, cough-drop, feeling in the back of my throat.

Blind bought this 3 months ago and I did not like it at first because of some weird smell. Then the weather got hot (80+)and now it smells really really good. So, I can understand why some reviews don't like it, and I can also understand why some like it. It does have the same vibe as Chanel allure homme but fresher, did a side by side. My bottle is different than the photo shown here, so I guess I have the newer version and that's why the longevity suffers. Also, I think it's cool for a change to have a fragrance from Norway instead of the usual fragrance countries. I am smelling it on my arms and this is great!!

Geir Ness is one of my favorite frags. It's incredibly versatile and can be worn any time of year for many different purposes. Longevity is among the best and the sillage is great. It doesn't develop much over the course of wearing it but that's fine by me. I don't need every scent, especially one that smells so great from the get go, to be a complex journey. Geir Ness intermingles spicy, woodsy, and sweet notes perfectly to create a concoction that falls in the middle of all of those. That's the key to its versatility.

Nondescript citruses, florals and spices but done very well! Smooth, pleasant and great performance. Beats most Bond 9 citrus florals with a huge margin at 20% of the cost! I agree that it is in the same group as Chanel's Allure Sport and Versace Pour Homme (which is also nondescipt notes to me) but much easier to wear and more likable. Definitely try it, worth a blind buy if you like the others I mentioned since this is done much better. Nice surprise from our Norwegian friends!!!

First time i tried this one i found it to be a bit old school and not a perfume i would like to wear. Now years have passed since that first try and i have now been wearing this for a week, and man this is some good warm and spicy floral scent. I have gotten some compliments on this one, i think its quite unik and also unisex as its quite soft, a good perfume from my own country for sure. The sprayer tho is crappy you need to pull it up everytime you push it down.

Of all the fragrances I own, there are 5 that I really like because, to me, they can be use anytime, anywhere and they will fit perfectly, they are as follows in order of preference; 1- Allure Homme and/or Homme Sport (same to me) 2- Geir 3- L'eau D Issey 4- Dior Homme Sport 5- Baldessarini They all are fresh, but have some kind of sophistication, creaminess, good projection, good longevity and all of them can easily be signature scents.

Sweet, but not in a feminine way. When I first purchased it I thought to myself, 'Man, this stuff is no where near as long lasting as they say it is'. Wrong. Sprayed it on my hand last night and not only can I still smell it 9 hours later, but it's VERY noticeable. Good thing I continued to test it and didn't go wild on my pulse points before heading out for my day. I might have made a few people tap out.

I first smelled this cologne in EPCOT, Florida. We visited Norway and got on the ride. After the ride was over it takes you straight to the gift shop. As I entered, the smell was so delicious that I asked the woman there what it was. She said it was the Geir cologne for men. I tried it and bought it righ away. I love the clean scent and it lasts a very long time on me. I have bought 2 bottles since then.

EDIT: My only issue with this is that the bottle you receive is not the bottle advertised. Other than that, I have no complaints with this fragrance. I had a bottle of this that I ordered from Amazon a few years ago, and got nothing but positive feedback. It also helped that I enjoyed the scent myself. Just reordered this from Fragrancenet. Can't wait for it to come.

I really love the smell of this a lot but the darn thing only lasts 30 minutes at best and no sillage at all. I see comments below on how strong it is and to be careful so that leads me to believe I have a crappy bottle of it. So the question is - do I buy another one? perhaps a vintage version? I guess time will tell..

I have just seen this coming in a new packaging and that includes the bottle. Can anyone confirm if the scent has been 'compromised' in any way?I have been around for some time to know that once packaging is changed,some other things have to give. I will treasure the bottles I have of this for a long time.Great scent

When I think of Norway I think of clean. Geir perfume,on my skin,starts out pleasingly clean and fresh and after a few hours turns into a very nice masculine flowery scent that has excellent longevity. All in all, a very nice perfume at a very reasonable price.

For those of you who may be comparing this fragrance with others: When given the choice in a blind test, everyone in my family chooses this order, ever time: 1. Versace Pour Homme, 2. Allure Homme Sport, 3. Geir Ness.

This might be called a fresh floral oriental. It has a finely weighted amber-vanilla base. It is faintly woodsy, too. Super high quality. Highly recommended. This is NOT spicy.

You can wear this anywhere. Very clean smelling fragrance. Reminds me of an airy floral garden at the peak of a mountain mixed with fresh laundry.

Unique fragrance. This is a gem. Very mysterious cologne. Only for special occasions. For mature men (age 35+).

One of my favourites.. very underrated. Im 30 and this scent can easily be a signature 9.75/10

It's okay... a bit too powdery

The broadly defined notes that gesture towards natural smells ("floral, citrus, woodsy, green, spicy") don't do justice to what this fragrance is: a carefully orchestrated and well-calibrated combo of aromachemicals that ALL have the potential to grate in the wrong amount or setting, but that work so well together here. Seems to be built on a foundation of the standard building blocks (hazy floral hedione, dry woody iso e super, ambroxan), but given an interesting almost "metallic" sheen with a chord of calone, dihydromyrcenol, linalool, and perhaps some muguet chemicals (Lyral back in the day? Florol? etc). Those first two chemicals can be particularly offensive in the wrong proportions, and tend to shriek loudly "Man cologne!!!" but they somehow work here, softened with a sweetish coumarin-vanillin-clean musky base. This is in the same genre as Platinum Egoiste, but something always feels a little too off, sour, etc. about that scent, whereas Geir manages to be more well balanced. I know there is more to this scent than just that handful of synthetic molecules--I do smell what probably is patchouli and lavender and bergamot--but this synthetic clean/sweet/fresh vibe is what predominates. I really appreciate that it takes calone away from a sharp/citric/marine direction and makes me appreciate what that "aquatic" staple can do in a blend otherwise.

This is an odd fragrance to me. It has a "unique quality" which I believe is important in a fragrance. But the scent seems to be in the same neighborhood as Versace Dreamer. I've read some reviewers saying they smelled a sort of wintergreen accord. It is slight, but I get what they are thinking. Keep in mind that this is a man's fragrance and it has a softer character to it from floral accords. It has a white and gentle type of feel to it (possibly from wintergreen, vanilla, and florals). Vanilla is one of those accords that I just don't care for. This doesn't have a strong vanilla scent, but it's there enough that this is just not my preference, sadly. I can see why this would get people's attention. It is unusual and in an odd way has something in it that seems to remind me of a newborn baby's skin. It wouldn't surprise me if that was why women are drawn to it (well, that and the vanilla). UPDATE: I recently tried Dolce & Gabbana Pour Homme and it reminds me of Geir Ness. Not the same, but similar. If you like one you will probably like the other.

I've spent time in Norway a couple of times, each during winter months and so I did not get to experience its spring and summer weather. I bring this up because when I think of Norway I think of its cool and cold elements. However I have seen plenty of pictures depicting Norway's beautiful wild flowers. I'm guessing that is what the perfumer was going for here. Geir Ness is an attractive fragrance with its the floral aspects really standing out, and I mean really standing out! Honestly, my first instinct was that this was a female perfume. I was caught of guard. After having given it a few trial wears I found myself rather enjoying this fragrance. After the initial burst of florals the other notes due show up, not in force but they do show up and are pleasing. This is kind of hard to put into words but when I smell this I feel an overall sense of happiness. I like the presentation and think this is a fine fragrance.

A creamy, pillowy floral fragrance with a subtly sweet, powdery touch. The fluffy florals are contrasted with an underlying airy woodiness, akin to the sharp ISO-E Super blast of Abercrombie and Fitch’s Fierce. Soft and sharp, perfectly balanced. For the longest time I put off wearing this as I was worried the florals would (sadly) make me an easy target by the guys at work for “wearing a woman’s perfume”, but I bit the bullet and wore my decant for a couple weeks. What a mistake to hold off on this for so long. I loved it, a couple of the guys loved it, a win-win all around. Vaguely reminds me of the original Le Male, but with less funkiness and clashing notes. I’m not sure why. In other words, it kinda reminds me of Prada Luna Rossa Sport. I know I just compared Geir Ness for Men to three other fragrances in this review, but I assure you, it’s still one-of-a-kind.

Very fresh at first and floral with a vanilla dry down.Got for a song on e bay but glad I didnt pay full rrp as never smelled it before.Bought it based on reviews. Very potent and long lasting do not over apply as it could be headache inducing.Nice masculine bottle and strong spray.only use 2 or 3 of these sprays and it will last all day.Cant say that it is especially natural or that it reflects my impression of Norway,having visited various regions on different occasions.Wouldnt say it was a suitable office fragrance as some people might take a dislike to it due to the projection and strength. My marks out of 10, probably 7 but havent tried it on an evening out.

Norwegians have a saying about being out in nature "ut på tur, aldri sur" (out on a walk, never sour) and I would venture a guess this might have inspired this fragrance. Fresh and elegant, but not an outright summer fragrance, it starts with a citrus-freshie smells that is soon balanced by a white floral note. This continues until the dry down where a more spicy (I get black pepper and juniper) note appears. Doesn't last too long in warm weather (4 hours max), but on chillier days I got 6+. Also a good compliment getter (went to a formal event and people said I smelled nice when leaning in for a hug).

Geir is a floral scent that smells fresh, clean, and pleasant. It also has some element of coolness and sweetness to it. When wearing this, I imagine myself lying in a grassy field around brightly-colored flowers on a sunny and breezy day of pre-Spring season. Comforting and relaxing. The longevity is pretty good. Despite of its softness, I keep getting whiffs of it for five, six straight hours, before it sits on skin the rest of the way. Thumbs up for Geir; it’s the kind of scent you’ll never get tired of smelling.

I didn't like this one when I bought it, it stayed in my wardrobe for years but recently I decided to try it again and now I have a much better feeling about this fragrance. It's very floral (and this is probably the reason why I disliked it in the past), fresh and a bit sweet. Drydown is way better than the opening, and it stays on the skin for a long time. A lot of people compare this to Allure Homme Sport but I don't get it, the Chanel fragrance is much better.

Wasn't sure how to feel about this frag at first. Initially I thought it was too floral and not masculine enough. After a couple wearings, I have grown to really appreciate it. It's an awesome fragrance that when a whiff of it hits your nose unexpectedly, it catches your attention and leaves you thinking; "Damn that smelled good". Might not be for everyone, but anyone who wants something that is fresh, soft, and mature this could be it.

very floral smooth reminds me of Antonio Alessandria Nacre Blanche I get a lot of tuberose which I enjoy but can be clawing if you over spray or smell up close the sillage is beautiful that's where this is perfect the gentle whiffs you get

It has a soft scent, floral. But very subdued to my nose. It did not last long either, and wasn't very strong or powerful. I felt that the positive reviews about this were giving it too much credit. I was nothing special at all, to me.

Despite the fact this is only available for the most part in Epcot, I very much enjoy mine and there's a sizeable dent in it. A pretty safe go to for spring and summer, kind of aftershavey, but reminds me of a meadow after a rainfall

A poor mans Reflection Man. Not downplaying the fragrance by saying that. The scent stays on clothes for days on end. The color of my liquid is yellowish, not the clear one and i get around 6+ hours of performance from it.

It's almost as if I were looking at the notes for Voyage d'Hermès. Does this smell a bit similar or is it different? Okay, it's quite different. ;-)

I almost blind bought a bottle of this due to the overwhelmingly positive reviews. Fortunately, I used "try before you buy" and am the better for it. This one reminds me of a body lotion or sun tan lotion. It's not a terrible smell, by any means, but not what I was hoping for. The more I sample the more I realize my tastes are not in line with the crowd. I'm clicking the "like face" even though it's the faintest of likes. Don't have the heart to choose dislike for a frag I had such high hopes for. If this is the best of Norway, I think I'd book a flight to Sweden instead. :) EDIT: It just hit me what this smells like...it smells almost exactly like the bottled hand sanitizer at my place of employment. Changing to dislike.

I just got this based on the very positive reviews. I've worn it for most of the day today and I'm really not a fan. It smells bitter and very herbal to me, like a soap or shampoo from the 80's. Projection is virtually zero, even on clothes. Another fragrance I really wanted to like, but just couldn't. It smells nothing like AHSEE IMHO. I'll give it a few more wearings before I make a final decision.

I tried some of this in the Norway store at EPCOT; sprayed some on my arm. I didn't like it at all because it's way too floral for me. When I got to the Italian section at EPCOT, the guy at the fragrance section sprayed the other arm with a sweep of Prada Infusion d'Homme. I bet you could smell me coming from a mile away that day.

Synthetic faminine and not worth 20 dollar. I was shocked that YouTube reviews say it’s like Chanel Allure sport.... I wouldn’t count on there reviews because they say good about anything just to get likes. It’s smell like synthetic rose cheap alcohol and worse than grocery store cologne.

Geir starts clean and nice, then turns a little to spicy on the middle and base notes. Overall a 6/10

This is a interesting one to say the least. Geir is quite similar to Allure Homme Sport, AHS hits me in the opening with more citrusy notes though I would have to say geir is more floral in the beginning. The drydowns are somewhat similar but AHS is kinda “messy” like the cologne can’t figure out what notes to let you smell. The longevity is there, lasts at least a whole 9-10 hr work shift on me however it gets closer to the skin after 3-4 hour mark. The impressions this gives me is a oily and flowery smell, picture yourself near a meadow on a bright 60 degree day in the spring. I know this sounds feminine but there’s a slight wood note that keeps it masculine side of things. And I keep getting a oily vibe to it.. not oil as in let’s say what you would put in a car but something else.. I cannot put my nose on it, however this is probably what most people say when they get the creaminess of it. This sounds weird but almost makes think of lipstick but not in a bad way. This is a great hidden gem, perfect for almost any season I think and almost any occasion. It’s safe to wear in public as well.... this ones a bit personal for me though and I’ll explain This happened after a few days of wearing it, I was just doing my thing and I got a whiff of something and instant nostalgia, it brought me back to my early teen years. My grandfather lived in a cottage in upstate New York, he was old and didn’t speak much. Every morning he would wake up early and go kayaking in the small lake that was across the street.. this small lake had a bunch of meadows and water lillies, etc. at one end of it. I would go out sometimes with him or sometimes by myself. I found peace and quiet there. This nostalgia hit me so hard I was like what’s causing this so I sniffed me wrist and of course it’s geir.. now I can’t stop thinking of this when I smell it. I’m not sure if it’s the meadows and flowers or my grandfather the smell is reminding me of, I guess both. But I’ll forever love this cologne for it has brought me back to a time that was easy to forget about but when it comes back to you, you realize how much of an impact it had on your entire life.

My boyfriend at the time and I found this back in 2003 or so, and wow, did we ever love it on him! Or at least I did, and he bought a bottle and wore it. Goddamn, it smelled good! I had no idea about what I was smelling back in the day, and I wonder if it holds up to the memory. It was unique at the time, purchased at Macy's, not a sexy or smooth or slick marketing campaign. Kind of embarrassing, actually, to purchase as a 20 year old, it looked like it was being marketed to older men. Crappy looking bottle and box, not very classy. The slogan "The Power of Norway" always had us rolling in laugher. He would say it with a fake Norwegian accent and we would die. But it smelled sooooo good. All of the above is utterly useless information, but indulge me my nostalgia as I wonder if it smells the same, and if I'd still like it. From what I remember, it was pretty linear, what you smelled was what you got. Good projection/longevity. Just a great perfume for men. Cheers to those who wear it, you probably smell great!

It dries down quickly to a "blob," but it's pleasant. I just don't happen to like this combination of notes for some reason (possibly due to some calone?). There seems to be some jasmine in here, giving it a hint of a "suntan lotion" quality, so if you like that you may want to sample this one. There seems to be violet leaf but not much. It's not too sweet and it's fairly well balanced, but dynamism isn't especially good. If you are looking for a floral/herbal aromatic fragrance, look elsewhere, as this one is soft, a bit vanillic, clearly floral (in a soft or wilted way though), and with a touch of something that doesn't smell "natural" to me ("laundry musk"?). I think I was hoping for a bit more violet leaf, along with juniper berries and creamy citrus, but no calone (or whatever it is that is bothering me here). To me Dream Angels Heavenly is actually closer to what I'd hoped this would be!
