Al Athal

this reminds me of walking in a 7 star hotel lobby in dubai where you are greeted with incense and bakhour plus the woody ambery spicy custom blends used in their diffusers it smells rich in a modern way without utter heavy oudy accords although there is a tiny bit of it in the back accords if you want more oud then go fo the black athal perfume .. this line is pretty new its made by shalhoub group who opened many of the luxury goods boutiques in dubai like chanel gucci dior louise vuiton and others so they decided to make their own luxury perfume insense body products line that are a cups between traditional perfumery with an utter modern touch for those who like to wear their orientals with a twist and as seen in many of the mainstream perfumeries trend of making oud or super oriental perfumes when you enter their shop they have a special room for testing incense and they have a juce jungle where you can have pure perfume oils by the tola and each of the 7 main perfumes have about ten complementing products from body oils to shpwer gels creams bakhour insese hair mists even room sprays and other products with the same smell their products are of great quality and are great for layering and using in conjunction with their body line as well as with other perfumes they have a modern approach to mid eastern perfumery adding a finer frenchier touch as for this particular perfume it smells of clean white woods with some mastic or luban and musk and amber and maybe hints of white oud but no heavy animalic oud so those who don't enjoy oud can easily wear this it's in the vain of some of the tom fords and armani prive oud connotations also a bit like the dior ouds with more clean aspects and finer satany spicy acords it's a great unisex perfume fit for day or night all year round but i prefer it for cooler nightwear and i enjoy it in conjunction with their incense smoke as well it lasts on clothes for days if not weeks if used in conjunction with their dry oils smoke i think ghalwali represents the newer generation yet respecting the old heritage of mid easter perfumery its for the hip more modern wearers of orientals with a twist with an edge //this perfume is on the drier side it's not sweet no uter vanilla or gourmandy shugary accords its dry incense white woods maybe cedre and luban or choya its extremely versatile and can be worn and tuned to so many layerings acting as a clean woody canvas with a strong character i will post a description about alathal oud as well they are great layered together

You would think this is better worn at night but your girl here thinks its just not "Night Enough" if you know what I mean. I wore this to work the other day just fine... However, its a little bit too strong on the smoky part it made me sneeze a lot all day... I think it needs more Amber cause I barely sense it there... It's not my favorite from the house however I think it'll work fine as Incense not as a perfume... Meaning that I think I would like the Incense version of this more than the perfume version...

I'm new to writing reviews on Fragrantica, and I see this fragrance has not yet been reviewed by many others. As of May 20, 2022, there are only three notes listed above for this fragrance: incense, amber and musk. But here's the thing. My husband and I have sampled this twice now, and we've found a strong top note of rose. So I looked up the notes on the Nose Paris website (I'm unaffiliated... just a regular customer). Here's what it says: This is a "floriental spicey" fragrance, with head notes of aldehyde and clove, heart notes of incense and rose, and base notes of agarwood, amber, musk, patchouli and vanilla. To my nose this is what happens with this fragrance. It starts out with a strong projecting rose. My first experience of that was walking in the door from outside and wondering if my partner had bought me a bouquet of fresh fragrant roses. I had to walk a good thirty feet toward him to ask that, so the rose projected quite far. He was not getting rose (we've learned our noses are quite different), but he was enjoying the subtle incense he was getting from recently spraying this fragrance. I sniffed his arm, and sure enough, up close all I can really smell at close range is a middle eastern vibe of incense, and amber/oud. My partner and I agreed we'd prefer this fragrance on me. We agreed it was quite pleasant. However, we noticed it fades rather quickly, in about an hour. I'd be concerned to overspray it given how strong the rose note was for me. So unfortunately, although the super fresh, authentic rose note is lovely to me, given everything thing else I described, we won't be purchasing this fragrance. If anyone knows how to get the other note icons to appear above for Al Athal by Ghawali, please let me know too. Update: Unfortunately I did overspray this a bit later... and I was so overwhelmed by what I later figured out is oud, I'm ruined for the oud note in all fragrances, including several my partner owns.
