Acqua di Giò Profondo

Beautiful fragrance, really a treat for someone like me who grew up enjoying the original. I’ve always had a soft spot for fresh, aquatic scents, and the AdG EDT was my signature scent for many, many years in high school and beyond. I still have a bottle, but obviously I’ve grown and tastes change, and I tend to prefer scents with a bit more depth and density these days. I tried this and profumo the same day, one on each wrist. I love them both, but this one truly surprised me, especially because so many more people recommended Profumo. The opening is heavenly. If you like the original, trust me, you will LOVE this. It’s taken that sparkly, citrusy, aquatic airiness of the original and amped it up, slightly more of a marine vibe, and it is much more grown up. The marine notes, the citrusy florals, absolute freshness with a slight warmth to it... beautiful, truly a treat to behold. You can really tell the increased quality and are given a much richer, deeper, and denser fragrance. Surprisingly versatile too, I’m one of the few people who really enjoy wearing fresh fragrances all year round instead of wearing something sweeter and warmer in the winter. There are some that just wouldn’t hold up, but this one really does well in all weather and settings. It’s youthful and bright but also deep and sophisticated, a really nice balance in my opinion: it doesn’t smell like you’re some rich guy in a tuxedo who drives a rolls Royce, it smells more like someone who craves adventure, sensuality, and subtle luxury in equal measures. The opening is my favorite part of this fragrance, but I do greatly enjoy it through all stages. The drydown is where it differs most from Profumo, it’s more of a mineral/aquatic vibe throughout, not as warm. I’ve noticed some comparisons with polo blue and “blue” frags like BdC or sauvage, and I can see how this is a valid comparison, but I find it also does this fragrance a disservice. Yes it’s a more aquatic version of the original, but I feel it does not try to be a “blue” fragrance (like BdC, sauvage, Dylan blue, Luna Rossa carbon, etc). If you do not like fragrances like those, don’t write this one off, it’s not in the same ballpark! There is an entirely different structure to the fragrance and it blends every note together almost flawlessly: freshness, sweetness, florals, spice, it’s almost perfectly blended. Not flat and boring or overly synthetic and harsh. Much more lively, sparkling, and more tolerable in large doses than the “blue” frags. Longevity and projection are both fantastic. At least 8 hours on skin and multiple hours of solid projection depending on temperature. 9/10. I love it!

this is my 8th and probably final bottle in the collection, and i thought it would be nice to leave an honest review here. i own a 100ml bottle of a 2024 new release (the bluer bottle with a gradient) so i cant really give comparisons to the 2020 one. the best way to describe it is that it smells like a really buff masculine dude in the beach and hes like fresh out of the shower too. thats pretty much how it smells like. opening is a really good blast of citrus like oranges and then the “beach smell”. as it dries down you might start to notice that the citrus is now slowly getting overtaken by the aquatic smell. after a few hours is where you might notice that the smell has turned into a men’s shower product or deodorant type of masculine smell. as a young dude sometimes i honestly think that my clothes dont smell like me after a day cuz of the smell really smelling like a grown ass man, but its really great before it gets to that point. weirdly though, i think i had the most compliments from this one compared to the other fragrances i use. i now start to realize that maybe the reason a majority of women (in my country at least) prefer blue fragrances like this or shit like BDC and dylan blue and i think that its because of that “deodorant smell” that smells like a masculine dude. not my favorite scent in my collection but it definitely gets the job done, and is probably the best blue fragrance in my opinion (better than bdc, dylan blue, etc) is it worth the price? it’s alright, maybe a bit pricey. i got it for around ₱5900 which is around $105. i suggest you try to get discounted ones if you’re looking to buy it, and if you dont really give a shit about the brand, try azzaro chrome extreme. its like half the price and probably just as good in terms of quality. scent: 9/10 projection: 8/10 longevity: 8/10

I don't want to smell like anybody's boyfriend. But I'll make an exception with this one.. So much is being said about this and that, and the other; and the other. Yes, there's been multiple flankers to Acqua Di Gio, Profumo being my favorite one. And as much as I'm not fond of fresh aquatic fragrances, I have to accept that these "Dudes" please the masses. I'll be "That Guy" who wears an Oud fragrance during summer, but I guess, lately, I've been selling my soul to the devil of the versatile and all-girl-liking frags. Giorgio Armani Acqua Di Gio Profondo (I'm out of breath just by pronouncing that name) will be the fragrance I'll be using next summer, for sure. January is almost over, but I'm sure that Beaver will not look at his shadow; at least in California. And before the smoke clears and I recover from this horrendous Flu, I'll give Profondo an early start. I've been test-driving such fragrance and there is something nostalgic about it. It takes me to the good-old 90's, over-spraying myself with Acqua di Gio or Chrome at the local Sephora, just before hitting The Third Street Promenade in Santa Monica. Memories... Memories... It is aquatic, fruity-sweet and a bit herbaceous. And it is on the dry-down where something additional special happens. The dry-down is as if it travels fast to the future and that 90's feel becomes very nowadays contemporary, modern and classy. Before it leaves my skin 6 to 8 hours after, with decent projection, it somewhat reminds me of a mixture between Millesime Imperial and Oud Minerale, without the oud. This is a special one. Do recommend.

This review is for Aqua di Gio Profondo EDP 2024. Fragrantica needs to make a page for the 2024 reform. Anyways, the new Profondo EDP is a fantastic blue fragrance but don't expect anything ground breaking. It's a typical mass appealing summer freshie done very well. Like all ADGs, it's very masculine which I love. No fruity, gourmand or bubble gum sweetness here. Slightly more professional and sophisticated than Dylan Blue. Kinda does it's own thing sitting between a Dylan Blue and Bleu de Chanel. Not as woody as the Chanel, not as aquatic sweet as Dylan Blue. It has a strong zesty citrus opening that was a bit off putting for me when I first smelled it, but it settles down quickly into an extremely smooth and refined sea sent. All the seaweed, fishy vibes of the OG Profondo have been removed and/or refined. The more I wear this stuff the more I like it. It just works in the summer. It's a bit generic but that's to be expected from an ADG. Performance is average for a freshie which I don't mind. I don't want beast mode performance in high heat. Overall, I'm happy with my purchase and can't wait to use this a lot this summer. I give it a 9/10 rating. It's a super solid modern take on the ADG DNA.

Profondo 2020 original was one of my favorites of the line and I’ve been wearing it since launch. I unfortunately dropped and broke my bottle this morning, but I wasn't worried because I had what I thought was a 2020 backup in the closet. I specifically ordered it from a site that advertised the original 2020 bottle to avoid the redesign, but when I opened it up, it was the new 2024 Profondo EDP. They are not 95% the same. I’d put this at 70% at best. For context, I think ADG Parfum is 95% similar to Profumo, but this Profondo change is much more drastic. That deep, salty, mineral-heavy "dark ocean" vibe that made Profondo unique—is gone. Instead, they’ve dialed up the bright, safe citrus notes. It feels much closer to Profondo EDT in my opinion. It’s thinner, airier, and lacks that metallic backbone that gave the 2020 EDP its identity. It’s not a bad smell, in fact it smells pretty dam good, BUT it’s a massive step backward if you’re looking for the original’s DNA. Just wanted to do a little expectation management.
