Acqua di Giò Profondo Parfum

First, I want to say that the comments about it being a terrible fragrance are probably trolls, this is a very good fragrance at an ok price. Thoughts on notes: I just got my bottle in yesterday as a gift, and tried it on skin in store (macy's) before purchasing. This fragrance being a parfum concenration, has some more, "gravitas" to it. when first applying the fragrance, you get an immediate freshness of the marine notes and the citrus of the mandarin (BUT, there is this floral, slight sweetness that melds the fragrance together that last throughout the drydown). As it fades, the amber/resinous quality is more apparent as well as well as the patchouli. Now, the mimosa contributes to the sweetness, it gives it a unique woody/floral quality that I have never smelled before. It creates nuances that I'm picking up on every now and then throughout the day. The Labdanum creates a slight musk note that you can pick up on almost at the first spray, It gives it a unique flair compared to the rest of the line and stands out a lot for an aquatic. Usage/Performance: Overall beautiful presentation, with a satisfying magnetic cap, and an average-okay vaporizer standard carboard box, with rounded flacon, in a dark blue gloss fade. it last around 6-7 hours with an intimate-moderate sillage (about arms length) on my skin. (I recommend you try it in stores to see how it mixes with your personal skin chemistry.) This Is definitely a spring/summer fragrance with the marine notes reminding me of the beach, and the freshness will be more energizing. however, the mimosa gives this floral/woody character that melds well with the other ambery/woody/earthy characteristics of the labdanum and patchouli., and gives a bit of a warming-sweet feel. Not on the level to wear it could be worn in the winter, but it has some sweetness which is intriguing for this profile. This specific type is still very crowd-pleasing with bits of exotic notes that make it a bit more unique, for this type of fragrance. Definitley has a more casual aura to it, but the Labdanum and Patchoulli defintiely give it that sophistication that make it versatile enough to be used for something more formal, like a dinner out in the spring/summer. Final Thoughts: Wonderful fragrance that is fresh and inviting that is crowd-pleasing, but has a nice warm resinous feel with a woody/floral nuance. Gives a nice sophisticated feel, modern and timeless. Extremley pleased with the scent profile and the nuances from the mimosa note, Oustanding and would highly recommend to any one! From the first impression, I perceive a citrus nuance blended with a mineral musk that evokes a marine breeze with an almost salty sensation. This is accompanied by a damp woody note, not a green or earthy humidity, but rather the kind created by saltwater, which reinforces the mineral and saline character. The fragrance feels very airy, as if it carried its own breeze. After about 15 minutes, the citrus notes move into the background, allowing a deep blue, mineral tone to emerge, combined with a clean musk. At this stage, the scent becomes more elegant and formal than in the opening. A slight bitterness appears, likely coming from citrus peel, adding depth and structure to the composition. After approximately one hour, the marine and salty accord remains the core of the fragrance, fully pushing the citrus notes aside. The result is a scent that feels noticeably more formal than other Acqua di Giò releases, far less sparkling or citrus-driven, and overall deeper, more restrained, and refined. After approximately six hours, the fragrance becomes much more intimate, with noticeably reduced projection. On skin, it retains an elegant blue character, where the saline and mineral accords remain present but softer, sitting at a similar level to the fresh citrus notes. At this stage, the scent feels even more formal and restrained, less attention-grabbing, though not in a negative way. Instead, it conveys a calm, refined elegance that works very well in closer, more understated settings.

I'm happy that I've finally found a Acqua di Giò that I love, but I'm sorry to say, it's probably the one I love, because it's the one that's the least Acqua di Giò of the line for me. Bought it couple hours after testing it. First it starts as a really obvious and natural mandarin + an oceanic/salty feel. A couple minutes after, a green, floral, sweet, and slightly powdery note starts to appear. It kinda gives me "Greener Invictus Aqua / Invictus Parfum" vibes at this point, but it's not an obvious similarity, just this citric, marine and sweet tone. It's deep, slightly playful, may give some male shower gel energy at some points, but It will get deeper and richer. it's really well done and it's a fun one to smell. After a couple hours, it loses a bit of this citric + bright florals part, and it becomes a little bit darker, earthy... Kind of salty honeyed flowers, if that makes sense? Reminds me a bit of Costa Azzura by Tom Ford at this point. Longevity is good, but it's true that this is far from the EdP sillage. I did not have the issues people mentioned of it being different on my skin. Guess I got lucky with my skin chemistry here? Versatility wise, all seasons except maybe winter for me. Also I would avoid more than 3 sprays in a really hot summer day. Bottle is beautiful, specially when it gets some light through it, but it's a fingerprint magnet.

I just got this today, and immediately put it on. Profondo Parfum is great, unsure why it’s rated so low. It’s much smoother and more mature than Profondo EDP, and it smells really, really good. Compared to the EDP, it’s less mineralic/salty, not as overtly aromatic (the EDP is basically a traditional “blue” body wash fragrance), much smoother, denser, and way more aquatic - I wish I was sipping a spritz on a yacht right now. I am in my middle 30s, and thought the EDP was slightly too loud, screechy and youthful for professional environments. The Parfum absolutely solves that. I don’t have too many fragrances with yellow florals, but the mimosa in this is adding a great dewy and powdery character that is really elevating this profile by giving it a texture that’s unique among the other AdG flankers. The labdanum in the dry down adds much needed weight, warmth, and slight darkness, making it appropriate for spring and summer nights. The patchouli is present, and it’s not earthy, chocolaty, green, or camphorus...it’s actually woody and slightly sweet smelling. Overall, Elixer is still my favorite AdG flanker, but Profondo Parfum has overtaken Parfum for my second-place spot. This is such a great dumb-reach warm weather fragrance. 9.2/10

I don't know how people don't like this but to each their own. This to me is another masterpiece by Alberto Morillas. The combination of the semi-sweet mimosa blended with the marine notes works so well. It's in the Dylan Blue realm but not the same. The sweetness in Profondo Parfum is more of a delicate fruity sweetness that reminds me of a green pear, where as Dylan Blue is more tonka bean type sweetness. The green mandarin carries over from the original Profondo and gives it a nice green facet and helps keep the DNA there to go with the patchouli. To me, this fragrance is some Profondo/Profondo Lights but tuned down a notch, then add in that light sweet fruity freshness to make the balance perfect. Somewhat does what BDC Parfum does except more green, but BDC Parfum is untouchable in my opinion. Performance on me is really good also. Scent: 9.25/10 Longevity: 8/10, I get around 7-8 hrs at least. Sillage: 8/10, nice following scent trail Projection: 6.5/10, it's a parfum so it isn't explosive off the skin but it lingers when you move around. Overall: 9.25/10 I have every Acqua Di Gio besides Essenza and this is second only to Profumo. I think the soft sweetness backed by the green notes add so much to the Profondo lineup.

I don't know why this fragrance is getting so much hate. Maybe there was a bad batch of samples? Anyway I had the original release of Profondo when it first came out. I could not stand the lingering strong smell of aquozone in the drydown. The new releases of Profondo are MUCH better in every way. I ended up buying Profondo Parfum the same day I tested it because I liked it so much. The opening is weird, I will admit. It's an odd cacophony of different smells for the first few seconds. Then after 2 minutes it is a pleasant mix of sweet mandarin and fresh ocean breeze notes. It stays this way for many hours with moderate projection. I personally love it. I don't think anyone could find this offensive and yet it was unique enough for me to purchase it. It reminds me a lot of Chanel Bleu actually but lighter and more oceanic. Don't try this on a card, wear it on your skin for half an hour and then decide if you like it. Also FYI Profondo Parfum is substantially different to Profondo EDP. Profondo EDP is also good, but lacks the sweet mandarin theme and is more of a plain ocean breeze scent.

Got a sample of this one and it's a really handsome scent. Interestingly, it doesn't come across as very aquatic or marine to me. It goes on fresh with a lot of citrus and quickly develops a bit of a slightly sweet gentle fruity floral accord after the opening - maybe it's the mimosa? For a little while, it gives me something reminiscent of apple. But a darker wood note emerges and gives this some depth and density as time goes on. It still holds onto a touch of sweetness in the dry down, becoming a handsome and subtly rich blue scent with a darker edge. The performance here is fine, not great but good enough. I find the dry down to be a very similar experience to Versace Dylan Blue, which is a great scent on its own and a better value than this one. For that reason alone I won't be investing in this one, but that redundancy aside this is a very classy and versatile masculine scent suitable for all seasons.

I'm really confused about the rating and reviews on this one. I've been anticipating this one since it was announced and wondered how many of these ratings were just trolls, but now... who knows. I'd be shocked if anyone who enjoys the Acqua di Gio line hates this one. Anyway I preface this review by saying that I love every Acqua di Gio except OG Profondo. For me it didn't balance that laundry freshness and those funky mineral notes very well. It came across kinda gross. So I was pretty excited for this one. Wondered if they'd find a way to balance it out... and honestly that's what they did. While the EDP balances out the funky sea notes with citrus and vetiver and Profumo with patchouli and incense, Profondo Parfum balances it with florals and woods. It's reminds me of Profondo Lights with less sparkle and a more cohesive drydown. It smells nice with solid projection and longevity. I like it.

I've always loved Acqua di Gio. OG is my favorite DNA ever. I haven't had any in my collection for a while now. So, recently I bought 100ml bottle of ADG Parfum and one of Profondo Parfum. I must say I'm quite disappointed with the performance and projection of both the flankers but perhaps I need to give them few more wearings to fully judge. Also let them catch some air and sit in a bottle for a while. Profondo Parfum doesn't really smell like Acqua di Gio to be honest. Smell is nice though and not weird in anyway as some reviews say It smells like a decent upper tier designer. What makes me wonder is it doesn't say that Alberto Morillas was behind this one like with pretty much every other Acqua di Gio. Update - Profondo Parfum is growing on me a lot recently and both Profondo Parfum and Parfum smell much stronger and richer around two weeks after opening

Wore this all day yesterday and really enjoyed it. This takes the “toned down minerality, but fresher body” of the new profondo EDP and adds some of that same sweetness found in Absolu Instinct (which is the king of the ADG line. Period) for a really good middle ground of all the ADG flankers. It’s still an ADG at heart, but I feel like that added sweetness lets you pull this off in the fall as well. Projection is strong for the first hour, then settles down to that nice, tried-and-true ADG marine accord. My ONLY complaint is this has the same lackluster performance of all the new 2024 ADGs, barely surviving 4 hours on my skin. I did reapply, and went through the cycle several times. If you can get this for around $80, I think it’s a no brainer. It’s easily my second favorite of the line, right behind Absolu Instinct, then the 2022 EDP. Then whatever else.

Caught this on sale for $100 so I took a shot. I can see how it gets the hate it does. I don't dislike it at all. I like it a lot, but I don't love it. It has great longevity but something about the opening seems sour to me. It smells good, just not as good as most of the line. EDIT: It is now two months after I first purchased this. I wore this yesterday and realized I like it a lot more than I thought I did. It is NOT a summer scent. It's a cooler morning, turning hot during the day scent. It's actually perfect for our short-lived fall time down here in the south. I love this a lot more now. I got over 12hrs on the skin. My wife loves it, my teenage daughter loves it, my coworkers in the office love it. I have to be honest, when I first bought it, I almost gave it away.

Just received a 50ml bottle from Armani in France, right so I sprayed it on 5 minutes ago and it instantly reminded me of something, I was like where have I smelled this before... Le Male Le Parfum, this smells like Profondo mixed with Le Male Le Parfum. Has a lovely magnetic metal cap, I also ordered a bottle of the new 2024 edp version and although it's not magnetic, the cap is metal and heavy, and not plastic cap from the original edp **Update** 3 hours later and it's still projecting nicely, keep getting the most beautiful wafts of it. Smell hasn't changed much, stayed pretty consistent throughout. Definitely worth a purchase in my opinion, this is a darker version of Profondo, and dare I say it, sexier.

I tested this one when it first came out and disliked it. I got that weird egg smell that people mention. I wanted to give it another go because I have been building a ADG collection as of lately and this is discontinued. It was definitely a different experience this time. The mimosa was so strong the entire wear. It was very sweet. Very floral. It does get a tiny bit powdery after the opening. Very not ADG like, but still had some ADG dna in the base. Maybe it was an aged bottle in the store, but I really like it now. If you're an ADG fan, it think it is a must have. There just are not many sweet ADG flankers out there. Maybe Absolu? I actually just ordered that one since the new Intense seems to be a dud.

I dislike aquatic and fougere fragrances, but I wanted something pleasant to wear on hot, humid days and the positive reviews for Acqua di Giò Profondo convinced me to get it. I think it smells great, but you must smell it on your skin. This is one of those fragrances that smells very different on skin compared to a paper strip. It smells okay, but boring when you smell the sprayer or smell it on paper, but on warm skin it really comes alive and pops! Very clean, fresh, like a bright blue sky. It's a great summer fragrance, especially if, like me, you tend to favor cold weather fragrances and have trouble finding something to wear when it's hot. Scent 8/10, longevity 6/10, sillage 6/10.

Well I like it a lot the opening is really good, and overall I can't find any real fault in the fragrance itself, the projection and longevity is a bit lacking. Though I like the smell a lot, it's objectively expensive and clones do what it does for much less. Then again part of the allure is the exclusivity of wearing something most people can't afford, I probably won't buy it again. But it's a nice gift idea and if you're buying for your man (especially if he's a bit older say 30's and up it'll be a good signature scent) it's definitely something you'll enjoy if he wears it 👍

I don't go out very often—I rarely leave the house. But I do go to the gym and hang out with friends from time to time. I've received a few compliments while wearing it, but I value my own opinion more than anyone else's. It's my favorite fragrance. The citrus opening is incredible: it bursts to life with amazing intensity, projects strongly for about three hours, then settles beautifully and lasts up to six hours on my skin. It's simply sensational. One tip: apply it where your skin meets your clothing. It tends to last even longer that way.

Marine ambered scent with a hint of yellow citrus in the opening. Almost linear, but let me be honest: I liked it more than the EDP, lol. It is less complex and a little more mass-appeal, but it is much smoother and doesn't have that sharp metallic note I dislike in the Profondo OG. It shines on my skin. This one will be my next one, even though it is so close to the ADG Parfum, which I have as well. EDIT: I think the notes here are the original, but at Parfumo the notes make more sense.

After wearing a few times, it's not too bad but it's gonna be a hit and run for some as it seems to be neither here or there..they tried to incorporate patchouli and incensey amber into a popular fresh marine og making it more mature and give it more depth. May work for some, may get disliked for some. Still a good welcomed changed but I don't think this sold well hence they same out with a new version of 2024 to eventually replace the og and a new Edt this year.

For people complaining about performance they are either nose blind or didn’t give the fragrance a proper chance. This perfume has a big projection and lasts way longer than the original cause 8 hours later people could still smell it. In term of scent this goes in a different direction, smells more masculine and more sharp compared to the original Profondo. I would say this is closer to Profondo light and not the original Profondo.
