Gardénia Antigua

Just took the plunge. I loveeeee gardenia flowers. I live in UK and would love to grow them but they need hot weather and we are cold here 98% of the year. Alongside of gardenia I also love the Mediterranean bourgainvillea with its vivid bright leaves. The gardenia is classically beautiful and so is the fragrance that comes from them. I was tempted two years ago to buy the most beautiful gardenia plant in the garden centre but knew it would not survive long and is supposed to be a difficult plant to grow even in hot weather and I’m a busy mum just not up to that challenge. Yet. Anyway, I’ve been researching gardenia fragrances on and off for a while. I almost bought arpels gardenia petale and resisted as it seemed too green and have eyed up Chanel’s exclusif gardenia but I think for the price that is something I will have to test and not blind buy. This, I’ve been debating for a short while. I’ve just blind bought it as I do like Musks so if it fails on the gardenia front at least I’ll still have a fragrance I still like. Hopefully. I love jasmine and it’s probably better suited to perfumery than gardenia. People keep referring to gardenia as a vintage retro old school smell. I would love if this perfume could capture the real creamy beautiful smell of the gardenia flower....

Oh I love this! This is one of those scents to me that makes my eyes roll back with happiness. It’s feminine, romantic, classy, very bridal. It exudes wealth and beauty to me. You get a creamy, rich, sweet gardenia. I find it the sweetest right after initial spray but the gardenia does maintain the perfect amount of sweetness for the duration of wear. I can not detect one smidge of patchouli in this, and I’m very sensitive to patchouli so go Giorgio. I purchased this immediately after receiving a sample. Having just purchased House of Bo La Mar (another semi $$ white floral) I was nervous they were too similar to justify having both and maybe for most people they are but the biggest differences are that House of Bo “La Mar” has way more salty, aquatic, fresh air in it which thins out the white florals, mostly tuberose I believe, topped with a dusting of citrus, in a very summery, beachy, classy, high end “I’m in the Mediterranean can’t talk now” kind of way and Gardenia Antigua is dominated by the rich creamy sweet gardenia. The ambergris, fresh air and *barely* there sunblock vibes are vaguely in the background, it evokes more of trophy wife vibes for me. Normal people may not find a need for both in their collection but you better believe I have both.

Gardénia Antigua Armani 2020,Neroli, Gardenia, Ylang-Ylang ,White Musk, Patchouli./This is a beautiful light floral perfume with a very consistant presence,I find it very well blended and rounded and has 1 scent from the opening till dry-down to my nose,White musk makes it very fresh and clean and patchouli gives the floral notes a tender milky depth,It smells elegant,will make a great wedding-day perfume or lunch date perfume.It is not sweet and smells like wet fresh-cut blossoms. For me it has the same vibe as A La Rose,MFK ,Same fresh floral vibe with Gardenia and Ylang-Ylang. It is a daytime perfume. 🍀🍀 #ladylovesperfumes

My bottle just arrived in the post. My first impression is a very true to life gardenia heart note with light citrus, a touch of neroli in the top, and creamy musks in the base. Apparently there's Ambroxan here somewhere, but it's not readily apparent to my nose. I love gardenia, so I'm particularly pleased that Dora Baghriche got this note just right. Upon checking my wardrobe, the only other fragrance I've tried of Dora Baghriche's is L'Artisan's Caligna (which I love). I think she's a perfumer I need to watch a bit more closely to see what else she's done I might like. Early review is 2 thumbs up.

How a gardenia really smells like, plus some exclusive vibes of a well made perfume! I’d bath in it if I could. Thank you Armani Privé! My second favorite gardenia scent is Gucci’s flora precious gardenia, but the pear there takes away from the true gardenia creaminess, making it to sparkling for my taste. But both make me so happy 🥰 Van Cleef & Arples has also a pure, no fuss gardenia petal I’m gonna try next.

In love 🤍 This is perfection for me. It feels feminine, slightly exotic, creamy warm and divine. This is now my scent. I feel like I could have just this one. It’s an exotic gardenia and makes me feel like a woman. This is just heaven to smell. The blend is magnificent and I feel like the essence of an Antiguan gardenia has been captured absolutely. This smells like the definition of perfume.

I am really enjoying this perfume. I like the slight spiciness of the gardenia and heart notes are milky and sweet. I can definitely understand the addictive quality of this beautiful eau de toilette. I think it will captivate most gardenia lovers out there.

Not a young, carefree type of gardenia but the sophisticated, womanly (not old) one. Smells like class and money. Purchased my 3.4oz/100ml bottle from Neiman at 25% off. Great deal!

This one is nicer during spring time The weather brings the notes better out...to perform..their miracle..

This opens with a slightly spicy, citrusy neroli. The gardenia, ylang, and jasmine join the party about 30 minutes later. The gardenia is light and slightly creamy, there's a bit of sweetness from the ylang, but it doesn't stay for long. The jasmine is very faint. The musk creates a sense of dewiness and wet petals on your skin. The ambergris and patchouli are barely detectable on my skin. Very pretty and ethereal. Longevity is moderate, it becomes a skin scent after 2 1/2 -3 hours. Perfect for spring and summer days.

For me, this is the smell of summer. On me, the longetivity is poor, so it's probably a skin chemistry thing. While it’s there on your skin, it's beautiful, warm, clean and light, whilst still giving a sophisticated depth. I always bring this on tropical vacations, and the warmth enhance this perfectly. Really classic and refined take on gardenia, which may tend to be a bit too much for many.

I have smelt worse gardenia perfumes in my life, but Gardénia Antigua by Giorgio Armani Prive isn't the most realistic gardenia I have ever smelt. It is missing those lactonic, green and rubbery nuances that gardenia has. It seems to only have the white floral and mushroomy facets that gardenia has. I feel like the pink pepper makes this slightly too spicy, the musk makes this slightly too powdery and the ambergris makes this slightly too salty to really smell like gardenia and I'm not a fan of it. The neroli and the mandarin orange gives this a nice zesty freshness though and the ylang ylang gives a lovely butteriness to the composition. I'm glad I can't smell any patchouli too, since I loathe the smell of patchouli. I had moderate projection and a 6 hours wear from this perfume and I could imagine it being a good fragrance to whip out in either spring or summer for during the day. It is extremely feminine too. I wasn't blown away by this fragrance though and that is why I'm giving it a 6.5/10, meaning it is a high average for me.

I’ve been on a white floral kick for a very long time now. After trying so many, this one smells too “perfumey” for me and too high pitched for my liking. I’m not an ylang fan at all, but here it is smooth and in the background. It also doesn’t remind me of Isles Lointaines. I think that one is not so perfumey/high pitched. I just feel that there are much better white florals and gardenia perfumes out there. It very much smells to me like walking into the perfume section of a department store where they’re all just sort of hanging in the air mingling. In other words, pretty basic and nothing special imo.

This starts out a nice spring floral. Bright, light, very breezy. I would call it diffuse and just "floral" I don't get any specific flower and wouldn't identify this as gardenia if it wasn't in the name. But then it just sorta fades to nothing within a couple hours (I applied when I got up, by lunch I couldn't smell it at all anymore). Disappointing because the notes list is beautiful and it has some good reviews. Maybe it needs to be applied really heavily?

I guess gardenia and I don't always get along. This one is true gardenia scent, with some other notes in the far back, but I get that lotion-creaminess of the gardenia out of the bottle. I don't think it's for me, even though it does smell nice for those who like it.

Really reminds me of Jadore flanker suggestion above. and I hated that flanker. Straight up hairspray vibes for me.

Antigua not as "antique" but is reminiscent of the Caribbean island so dear to Giorgio Armani. Anyway, this gardenia has nothing tropical or antique. Indeed it is a very modern interpretation of a classical theme. From a designer, or better, from a Genius like Armani, you can't expect but something wonderful, and this Gardénia Antigua IS wonderful. At first I feel bitter tangerine and neroli with no gardenia even remotely lurking behind; then a peppery undertone comes waving in and lastly the most beautiful gardenia appears on stage. It is not loud, not massive, just beautifully understated, but, as in Re Giorgio fashion items, not only recognizable but also stunnignly beautiful. I love this scent, it is perfect for an everyday use and the gardenia is so beautiful that I never get tired of smelling it around me. VERY BEAUTIFUL

Gardénia Antigua, by Giorgio Armani, from the Armani/Privé line, smells like nectary neroli, gardenia, jasmine, sweet and fruity ylang-ylang, mandarin and an effervescent pink pepper. The scent is a mix between white florals and a mandarin. It is a very simple, pleasant and refreshing fragrance. Gardénia Antigua is one of the most pleasant florals that I have encountered, it will definitely go into my top 10 floral fragrances. But is it worth 200€? I don't think so. The scent is pleasant, but it does not worth that price. Not when you can get an exceptional niche perfume for that price. But I do understand that if you want and love this scent, you might get it either way. The bottle is very beautiful, I love the bottles from the Armani/Privé collection.

This is a really weird scent that makes me confused about the notion of "white flowers" I expeceted somewhat creamy like Do son by Diptyque or Gardenia Petale by Van Cleef and Arpel. But this is really powdery. It doesn't smell banana and nail remover like Benzyl Acetate. Not Lactones which make the characteristics of Gardenia and Tuberose too. A phenolic sweet(YlangYlang) is gone so fast. Well, maybe Benzyl Salicylate which smells like sunblocks?(Oily and somewhat powdery) It happened the same to Un parfum d'Ailleurs et fleur of TDC. That perfume smells like a weird powdery like this perfume(Gardenia Antigua), someone said that perfume smells like Tuberose...
