This...is...absolutely...BEAUTIFUL! This is definitely a woman's perfume, not a girls perfume, at all! This is super sexy and sophisticated! This reminds me of the strong business women of the 80’s. With their designer outfits, shoulder pads, big hair, brightly coloured makeup and a real “I am woman, hear me roar” attitude when they stride down the halls of a workplace, as you hear their high-healed stilettos crash like the sound of glass breaking with each step as a reminder that they can put you in your place, even if you’re a man and fire you on the spot, so watch what you say and do...as they fill the air with RED each time they rush by! But at the same time, this is very comforting and motherly for a stay at home mum who hugs and kisses her children in the morning as they leave the house for the school bus and before she spends her day caring for her proud home and preparing a heart warming meal for the family she loves more than life! And the first thing her family smell as the walk in the front door is the caring, warming and inviting scent of...RED! This is NOTHING like the first and original Giorgio! So if you have smelt that before and even HATE IT...you will still love this perfume! Think of Charlie and how strong that is and then what it was like to smell the romantic Charlie-Red and you’ll understand the big difference between Giorgio and RED! Despite most of the notes in RED seeming sweet, this is NOT a sweet, candy, flower perfume that most perfumes seem to smell like today...NO WAY! This has a lot of Cherry, plum, black currant and orange blossom that all have sweetness, yet also a smooth sour way of blending perfectly with rosemary, gardenia, amber, cedar and vanilla! This is very close to being an actual oriental because it does have real Asian notes! Most perfumes think sandalwood, musk and oakmoss represent oriental...wrong! It’s a very unique variety, that at first would make you think is way too much for one perfume to handle, but every single note seems to have it’s own time in the spotlight for a couple of minutes throughout the whole time you’re wearing this! Very well done to the Giorgio team for being able to make so many notes shine together! The best thing about RED, is that it’s not a spray, it’s actually a light mist, making it perfect for all pulse-points (Both sides of the neck and both wrists) because it's very gentle! Whereas Giorgio blasts like a water cannon in only one spray, making it hard to use more than one spray on yourself. Does not fill a large room but people can smell this within 6 feet, and it draws in many, many complements! Very good for both dry and moist skin types. Has great longevity, up to 9/10 hours! Perfect for day and night time use (Does have that slightly more night time feel about it) and also smells and feels like Autumn when you wear it! So great for the fall season. 8/10 for me...will buy another bottle once I’ve finished! The only bad thing for me, is that the bottle is very oddly shaped, making it, not hard to hold exactly, but almost uncomfortable when spraying yourself because of it’s sideways shape! I didn't even notice the shape of the bottle when looking at the picture before buying. It was not until I opened the box and held it in my hand, that I noticed it's strange shape!

Ahhhh the smell of my early 20's. I wore this all the time in the 90's l loved it, l haven't had a bottle since then. Since l recently fell back in love with Giorgio Beverly Hills the original yellow floral liquid after a 30 year gap l thought I'd try my other old favourite. I was a mere girl when l first started wearing this around 17, or 18, it was gorgeous. I saw a bottle on ebay for a pitiful £13 for 90mls it almost hurts my feelings when these top class scents go for so cheap, they deserve better. So l sprayed it on and boom💥 there I am back in my younger days getting ready to go clubbing with my girls up in my room music blaring, mum screaming up the stairs that she cant hear the F****** tv, were drinking wine and laughing, sharing makeup and hair products a thick mist of georgio red in the air, looking all good, everyone's got their Gossard Wonderbra's on and our breasts are practically bouncing off our chins, and the bra is sooo bloody uncomfortable but we thought we looked so good. We had grown up being told by our mums that you have to suffer for beauty so we wore the torture bra that felt like we were being sliced like a piece of ham on that sliding meat cutting blade machine behind a delicatessen counter, our dresses were short our heels were high, we had our hair blow dried and sprayed within an inch of its life, and we're feeling like it's going to be a good night, painful feet blisters and all, we had three things on our minds drink, dancing, and meeting hot guys. That gorgeous spicy currenty talcum powder floral mix in this perfume is everything. I'm smelling Cinnabar and youth dew in this, very woody smells, with a bit of fruity tootie to stop it being too harsh and scratchy, it's a spice bomb, l haven't yet identified the creamy vanilla element but l know its on its way. I love this. I'm so happy to have it in my collection again. I'm on a bringing back the old siren perfumes vibe right now, the best from my past I'm enjoying the memory journey they take me on, and truth be told I'm a bit bored with perfumes of this time at the moment, none satisfy my needs they all seem to be fruity, patchoulli, sugary syrup sweet blah..l love this. I give it a 9/10. I've never tried Giorgio Blue but l might try that too, see if it's my vibe l love the yellow and the red, it's also going for less than a packet of cigarettes it's so cheap. It's rude not to. Love this.

The drydown is where this perfume really sings. Upon first spray, you're accosted with a smattering of intense retro chypre vibes. YouthDew and Halston come to mind and apparently the Fragrantica hive agrees; this juice is not for the chronologically challenged. But before you relegate Red to a pile of "old lady" realize that it also kinda smells like weed, too. The absurd amount of notes here lends itself to some kind of alchemical herbal fuckery. The box top where I first sprayed this now smells awesome; when I initially sprayed it in my car (One spray! Only one!) it was overpowering and I had to close up the box and put it back in the bag so that I could drive in peace. The olfactory assault was really something else. The opening citrus and aldehydes are like bottomless Mimosas; sweet, fizzy and boozy. The woodsiness creeps in like a slow-burning incense you didn't even realize was there. A sensual seduction of chypres awaits you in this Beverly Hills boudoir. Almost church like but has too much of a naughtiness interwoven with the oakmoss and vetiver to be a strictly Catholic mass incense. I'm thinking more...Laurel Canyon sex party, sunken living room, coke on silver trays. Debauchery served with a side of modern 80s career woman. The way this fragrance now smells hours later is something like finding a roach (the kind you smoke) in the bottom of a vintage leather makeup bag. The bag has the animalic and floral creamy elements from the makeup, the rich butteriness of the leather met with the aromatic resin of burnt cannabis. The feeling this evokes is rich bad girl. She has some seeds and stems in the bottom of her Coach saddle bag. She drives a Le Baron convertible (red, of course) and can roll a joint faster and better than the boys. She's only passed out on her lush, Beverly Hills lawn once, but it was right after the huge rager for the first years at Gordon Rees. She loves Fleetwood Mac and is looking for the right guy she deems Spongeworthy. Sure, she knows how to make a bold opening statement, but what she leaves lingering might be worth even more.

Delicious. I own a reformulation bought from a Walgreen's store. The scent is rich, sweet, smoky cherry-floral with festive, playful, flirty, feminine vibe. It's warm and so perfect for winter and Christmas parties. In fact I love to wear this at Christmas parties. Red is the right name for it. Smells 'red' and like a velvety red Christmas ball decoration. The bottle is large and rectangular, clear-glass, and the liquid is a dark tomato juice style liquid. When you first spray it, the aldehydes are detectable. They are soft but distinct aldehydes. Then the cherry and soft peach-bergamot combo comes through. Even with these fruity top notes, the sweet fruits don't really own the fragrance. At heart it's all floral. The carnation, jasmine, tuberose, rose and hyacinth and later a full bodied iris. In my experience wearing vintage perfumes, I've noticed this perfume's floral notes are the kind you find in any other vintage. The white floral notes are bigger here than the rose or the ylang ylang. To my nose it's not yellow floral but mainly a carnation and white floral scent. The aldehydes and the rest of it make the whole thing boozy and sweet like liqueur. No musk. The dry down is a soft vanilla and amber. By the driest stage it's a woody scent; a soft wood; sandalwood and cedar. This gets powdery as it wears on. I would say it is more powdery than woody but the wood can be detected and it's lovely. This perfume is very long lasting for hours and hours (I counted over 5) but it is not a big bomb and sits close to the skin. Vibes I get from this as others have: a cool, fun, classy, sophisticated lady. She is all dressed in a bold red cocktail dress. She smokes and is still considered a woman at the height of her sexual prowess and her feminine power but mature and worldly. She shows up fashionably late. She likes the color red a lot. Red nails, red toenails. Red hair. Red dresses. This scent is far more luxurious and 'rich smelling' than the bargain price. A good evening cologne for parties this Christmas season.

After reading many reviews on this one, I felt it was right up my ally and a very safe blind buy. So I started keeping my eyes out of it... Today I was shopping at Walmart with my mother in law. I told her I had to go to cosmetics to "take stock" of the fragrances. I scanned the showcase and all the way down at the bottom was my hidden treasure. A small instantly recognizable red box sealed in a tamper-proof plastic case. The box was not priced but I didn't care how much it cost I just wanted to get my hands on it! After a few minutes and probably 20 different keys it was mine... and for $14.00!!!!!! Now I'm at home and I have unboxed and applied to my wrist. One word STUNNING It's everything I expected and more, rich smokey fruits and flowers with just the right amount of spice. Complex and ever changing it wears beautifully despite what some reviewers may say. I'm wearing Halston Classic today which I love, but I'm tempted to take a bath and properly apply Red all over me to get its full effect. I'm not surprised that the nose behind this has done mostly men's offerings, it's totally unisex ( if you believe in gendering perfumes, which I do not,but I digress) I'm extreamly happy with red and if you love loud n proud oriental fragrances you will be too! Update, so I spent the entire evening wearing Red sniffing under my shirt to get wafts of it's gorgeous notes. The more I handle the bottle the more familiar it looked and felt. I swear my Bobbie (Yiddish for grandmother) had a bottle of this on her dressing table when I was young. I don't remember smelling it on her since at the time she was a heavy smoker and that's all you could smell. But I do remember the bottle, I used to play with her make up , perfumes and costume jewelry for hours when we would visit. I feel that this is a fragrance she would have owned and wore at the time and maybe that's why I love it so much. It's the next morning now and I still smell hits of Red on my pjs and chest. This is long lasting stuff. Very happy to own it.

It is such an underestimated perfume that it amazes me. It is true that the Giorgio Beverly Hills brand is not well known in Europe, although the products are made in Spain at a prestigious perfume house.I haven't tried other Giorgio perfumes but this one..... has nothing to do with Beverly Hills or at least not with the European image of Beverly Hills, especially in 1989. This perfume my ladies is not about women who have reached the foot number with cosmetic surgery to look good for payers, it's not about bikinis and blonde excessive dyed hair as someone said below, isn't about dolls, isn't about easy way in life as described in some comments, I do not know how anyone could see this perfume as such. It is a typical European perfume of the 89 years of feminist expansion, it's a perfume that reminds me of Faberge line, a green floral, with myrrh who at the beginning it's a little heavier but in time it cools down after a few minutes. The aldehyde is set to aerate and does nothing else. IT IS NOT A CHANEL 5 VANILATED ALDEHYDE, it's just a sparkle of ozonic feeling. I feel some leather a very vegetable one, green like it's loaded with moss, the cherry hmmm feels but too little is more of a supporting note an absolute hyacinth is felt instead, which together with myrrh and cherry can give an idea of cola, but it doesn't smell like a cola but if you look for the note yes it may remind you of a glass in which a cold cola was drunk but now it is empty, it is a dusty smell and the note is short-lived anyway.The rest is a green hyacinth with a little carnation and maybe some iris, the tuberoze is just in transit. A good scent to match a refined business outfit, a strong outfit with a long double jacket, or a shirt with a sophisticated cardigan, for me it is a very good perfume for the office in the colder period, a perfume with character, close to the skin, power vibrant, vertical, elegant...perfect.

(This review is for the vintage Giorgio Red extraordinary spray cologne). This is my '80s soap opera anti-hero fragrance. It's for those days when I wear red sequined dresses, recline on the chaise lounge, and then pick up the rotary phone and dial a number with my long, red nails to make a call. I speak to "Tootsie the Vindicator", the leader of my pack of Pomeranian minions. Then the fluffy Pomeranians in diamond chokers go out and punish evil-doers. I can see them chewing up forged documents, and peeing into the swimming pool of a ruthless oil tycoon as we speak. Giorgio Red is what I wear when I have had enough of other people's drama and disrespect, and I need to be reminded of the type of woman I am, or can be. She is SPICY but not loud about it, and she is what she is, no apologies. Even though this is a "character" perfume that brings out a certain part of my personality, I could wear it every day. When I wear it, then look in the mirror, the scent and reflection I see matches...whereas with some perfumes I put it on, and then I look in the mirror like: "nice perfume but it doesn't match me." I do not find this to be a brash or heavy fragrance in the vintage cologne formulation--it's nose-to-arm sillage after an hour. On my skin, Giorgio Red is cinnamon aldehydes, velvety-soft cosmetic powder, and myrrh, with an ashy moss undercurrent. It's really difficult to describe, because it's so well-blended, and nothing else smells like it. It isn't overpowering on me at all. In the dry down it does get animalic and fur-like, but just a wee growl. I am curious to try the recent version to see how it has changed. Giorgio Red, vintage-formulation, cologne for women is a staple for me.

Found a great deal and couldn't pass it up, so I blind bought it. I was born in '78, so I did not wear this during its heyday and literally all my mother has worn my entire life is Azureé and Shalimar. I did not think I had any nostalgia to this scent, either, s I grew up in a very rural town and few people could afford something like this back in the day. All this preamble is to say, instantly when I sprayed it, I was at once filled with wonder at its beauty and an immense melancholy, as though I had lost something irrepalacable. My first love (and only true love for many, many years) died relatively young and RED, for some reason, reminds me heartbreakingly of him. The scent itself is a heady, swirling mist full of florals and incense and amber and spices. It is just just sweet enough to keep it from being bitter but it is not a "sweet" perfume. This is old school glamour and elegant, if applied with a light touch. I only bought it an hour ago and have already gotten two unsolicited compliments. I absolutely love this but I love unapologetically big fragrances. Lightly applied, this is perfectly wearable, even in enclosed spaces (light as in spray in the air and walk through)! At home, though, I intend on drenching myself in RED's mysteriously womanly glory. Even with the somewhat bittersweet association of my long-dead love, it soothes a spot in my heart that I have tucked away, and it smells divine while doing so. UDATE: This certainly gives you the most bang for your buck! For being an EDT, it lasts and projects wonderfully.

Another Christmas is upon us. Merry Christmas to all who read reviews on Fragrantica. This is my go to perfume for Christmas Eve parties; along with Elizabeth Taylor Diamonds and Rubies. This is a spicy 'red' floral scent that evokes bouquets of red roses and wreaths of poinsettia. It's Christmas in a bottle. This gives off birth of Christ night vibes. The 3 wise men bearing gifts of gold frankincense and myrrh. The star and the baby in the manger with Joseph and Mary. As it begins, the scent has a soft aldehyde opening. Then we smell a mix of cherry and currant. Sweet, a touch tart. Then the florals make their way in. It's hyacinth, roses, carnations, jasmine, tuberose. Major florals but the reformulation has subdued the power bomb it probably once was. This is after all from the same brand that gave us Giorgio Beverly Hills. By the time the cherry-curant-florals fade out, the dry down reaches into the base notes. I smell spices, myrrh, incense. I smell woodsy notes, primarily sandalwood. There's also amber. At this point, it starts to go from West to East or Near East smelling more like an Arab perfume or Middle Eastern perfume. It's warm, and comforting, and clearly suited to fall and cold winters. This perfume is exotic, rich, complex, wintery, mystical, sweet and spicy. What's not to love? This is a work of art in a fragrance. And yet so easily worn if you have experience with vintages. Writing this review at the Christmas Eve party. Merry Christmas.

This DIVINE fragrance and I go back to a time in my mid-20s (approximately spring/summer 2001) when I was lucky enough to participate in several beauty product blind trials for a company working to report trends in different types of beauty products for companies in the industry. No other product was labeled or identified, but the small bottle of Giorgio Red was labeled. I was so excited to get to try it because I had never had the opportunity and had always wanted to. At that time, and even today, my two favorite fragrances are Ralph Lauren Safari and Elizabeth Arden Red Door. To me, from the first sniff of Red on my skin, it was definitely different than Red Door, but it had enough similarities that I knew it was going to be a keeper. OK, fast forward to now, my two favorite frags are the same as before, but Red ranks right up there on my list of very favorites - perfumes that I CAN'T DO WITHOUT list. In my mind, I call Giorgio Red "liquid sex". Wearing this perfume truly makes me feel sexy and confident. Despite being very sexy, I still wear Red to all kinds of occasions, even work. If you're a lover of frags with rich spice and a bit of the oriental, you will not be disappointed with this beauty.

I had this a few years ago and LOVED it! A little goes a long way. I love its sweetness - like biting into a chewy fruit candy paired with more sophisticated woody tones - YUM! I decided this would be my new signature (as Elysium is sadly discontinued) and bought a new bottle. To my horror the new one smelt awful! The sweetness was overpowered by something else - something so awful I can't even describe it! Not sure if I got one that was off or if they changed the formula. Either way, I haven't been game to try again. Update: I gave it another shot because it was a very good price. Smells more like what I remember (maybe a bit more spicy than I remember but sweet enough). Obviously my last one was off. I still like it but not love it - I wonder if I've outgrown it? 2nd update: Today I tested Tuscany Per Donna which I used to love and there is something a bit harsh about it now (maybe my sense of smell has changed since having a child). The "spicy" that I thought I could smell in Red is the same it's not really a spiciness at all but just a harshness that overpowers the sweetness I loved.

Somewhere in the Mediterranean or Far East. An ageless and beautiful, veiled woman wrapped in wine red silk and cashmere walks thru the center of a spice market in the cool of dusk. Dark smoldering eyes filled with secrets and wisdom... If Red was a woman, this how I would envision her, beautiful and seductive, warm and inviting, intelligent and regal without arrogance. For me and on my skin, it's all about the spices, the amber, the Myrhh from the opening to end. Getting warmer with more of the sandalwood, fruit and florals appearing near the end, but very subtly. And lastly for me, the vanilla and the jasmine. I always think there is honey at the end, even though they have never listed it. This perfume is bold, complex and multi layered. Sometimes I can taste the spices. The silage is at least arm length for me and it lasts a long time. So, you kind of have to practice how much and where you put it. I love it. It is very sexy in an intelligent and sincere way. It's not about being in your face, but sort of wraps around you. Mysterious, like the lady in the spice market.

I recently acquired a vintage bottle, and have also sampled the new reformulation: the minimalization of the oakmoss/herbal/floral facet is quite apparent in the new one- in fact, it's as if the whole head and heart both had the volume turned down to be more-in-line with more-recent compositions; the vintage is indeed far-more complex and powerful! (and although these facets have now been lost, I do admire the retention of Red's core identity- it is still relevant!) The intricate play of these high-sillage notes has been discussed here already at length, but what I find most-facinating is the drydown exposing a base of admirable longevity: as others have mentioned, it is very like EL 'Cinnabar' with a prominent note of cinnamon over an amber accord of labdanum/benzoin with careful touches of vanilla, patchouli, sandalwood, and musk- and the ever-present oakmoss keeping this "dry" and far from sweet-gourmandish (which the new reformulation seems to lean toward). Quite an exquisite chypre- and definitely worth seeking out- in either of its incarnations.

This has become one of my all-time favorite perfumes! About 5 years ago, summer, l smelled this on a woman, as l walked past her, and l had to stop her and ask what she was wearing. I immediately bought a 50ML bottle at Walmart. It was one of those where you love it on someone else, but not so much on yourself, whether it’s body chemistry, wrong season or something else, so it sat on my shelf, forgotten, for a couple of years before l tried it again. It was winter and l was so bored of my other perfumes so l decided to give this one another go, and I’m so glad l did! It smelled so amazing; very cherry, aldehydic, soapy and floral! I agree with others’ statements that, when it dries down, it reminds me of the smell of an empty glass that once contained coca-cola/Dr Pepper , with a little trace of it still left around the bottom of the glass. My brother got me a full 100ML bottle for Christmas and here it is almost May and I’m more than half way through the bottle! I get a lot of compliments on this perfume and plan to always have it in my collection!

Red....A blast from the past. When the hair was perfectly coiffed, when shoulder pads made their triumphant return to define the perfect silhouette; an homage to red glossy lips and to a time where you could still easily find elegant hats with matching handbags: Hello Alexis Carrington, you sexy vixen. Red is everything that is bright, sweet, spicy and a touch earthy. It has a little bit of everything that can appeal to every kind of lady. I really get big succulent cherry, sweet tuberose, creamy vanilla, black currant, rose, jasmine, oak-moss...You name it, different notes keep unfolding every time you smell it. This can be a loud and vulgar fragrance to some, or a sexy sweet and spicy type of scent to others. I would not recommend blind buying this one; you have to see what you get with your own chemistry. This is one of those types of fragrances that you will either love or loathe. Red is a classic in my book.

Oh how I loved Red back in the day! I was 19 when this came out and I wore it until the bottle went dry. Beautiful scent that was very unique at the time. I can smell it now in my mind (isn't it amazing how we can do that) I really want to buy a bottle again, but I'm absolutely positive that the new incarnation will not be a patch on the OG, just like every other frag from that amazing time in perfumery. Edit: so I bought a bottle of the new formulation, and I am so so annoyed because I opened with such excitement, spritzed a couple of times and waited to be smacked in the face by 1989. It did not happen. There is a tiny wisp of what this used to be in there but it is not a god dam patch on the original. Where is all the warm spiciness, it just isn't there now, now its just really soapy! It used to be so gorgeous, but now it's a sheer disappointment. Utterly devastated.... 😫

The trick to Red is to find a 30ml for some reason the smaller size just smells richer than the 90ml which smells like hot burning plastic and white pepper soap. Smells really hot, like an extinguished match at first then comes the spicy cy soapy peppery marigolds and myrhh. his has the peppery spicy richness of Diors Farenheit and a lovely warm dryly sweet powdery base with a faintest sweetness from cherry or the litchi but more like brandied apricots with cinnamon to me. I dont find this loud at all oh so wearable and cosy in cold weather in particular and great for lounging around in PJs. It's like the more casual earthy sister of Opium or cinnabar I like it when wearing jeans and cowboy boots whereas those two are dressier heels and dresses type of scents. I reckon obsession fans give this a go also. Such an affordable masterpiece.

ONE LIFE...!!! when y was 10 years old. y always go in to the perfume shop. look at the beauty of the bottle. i was very poor so it was very cruel to only look. and think that one day a can eable to buy one of them. when i see RED GIORGIO BEVERLY HILLS. i really love the colour of the liquid and the box. i ask the sale lady to let me smell it. she say to me. sorry you cant afford to buy it. i was so sad. after a couple of years. i stop see this perfume. i go to school. start work. god help me so much. i have my own house and car. today i was at a perfume store and i see this. i cant expalin the feeling i had. i tell the sale girl. take it out please. and i touch it. and i at last get to smell it. it was such a joyfull experience. i smell. almond, amber, sandalwood. flower. omg love this so much. thank god. :)

Today the eagerly awaited bottle of GR arrived and I'm in love! I'm also very confused because of the notes listed on the pyramid I only get amber. No cherry, rose, oakmoss or carnation, just balsamic amber and a hint of sweet tobacco. So confused was I that I checked the listing for GR2, which is even more unlike what's in my bottle. And it is a genuine vintage bottle, mind you. Anyway, GR is drop dead gorgeous. Intense but not overwhelming, this scent is perfectly unisex and probably work safe if applied lightly. Lasting power is good, the scent deepens as it lingers on the skin. If this perfume came from Gucci instead of Giorgio, it would be a huge hit. GR deserves more love, it's certainly one of the best scents I've tried. (Still not getting any cherry or rose)

I am waiting for my bottle of Red. After months of hesitation, I finally bought it. I used this perfume during the 90s (to go to University). After I read some comments, I was afraid about the type of memories this fragrance could bring back to me. I was so young, distracted, sweet, naive, bold, sad, funny, decisive, and very strong, what a combo! Yes, too many things happened back then. Even though I used to wear this fragrance (sometimes) during these important years of my life, I can not remember anything link to it, just its wonderful aroma. Red is a combination of too many notes, as women are a combination of too many feelings. Pardon my English. I RECEIVED IT, AND I LOVE IT. I can't tell what note is more prominent. WHEN DRY, IT SMELL AS I REMEMBER.

Oh Red, I loved you so much in the late 80s and early 90s! I'm not sure why I didn't buy more when I ran out. Maybe because I'm fickle and wanted to try other fragrances? To me, this is a cool/cold weather fragrance. IMHO, it's too intense for warm/hot weather. Yes, it's sexy and strong, but you can wear it in the daytime if you spray lightly. That said, if you work in an office where you sit really close to others, this may be problematic. As I remember it, I could pick out some of the notes listed above, but it was a well blended fragrance where no one note really dominated. This review is for the fragrance as I recall it many years ago. If it's been reformulated, YMMV.

This was my signature from the year it came out until the mid-90s. My bff and I would go to the mall before going out and spray ourselves at the perfume counter. She preferred Chanel No. 5, but Red was for me with it's spicy, sultry, scent that made me feel like a woman. I recently acquired a vintage original bottle and the scent took me all the way back to those parties and clubbing in Contempo Casuals stretch velvet dresses and stilettos. It still smells as wonderful as I remember! Have not tried the new formulation. It's so incredibly potent, I did maybe half a spray split between my wrists and it's been strong all day. Spray lightly and with caution!

Blind buy and I kinda love it, which I was not expecting to. This radiates cherry on me, glossy red cherries, not particularly sweet, and underneath is a woody backbone that is a mixture of wood ash and incense. I’m not a fan of aldehydes, but in this fragrance it’s not overpowering, just gives the cherries a lighter almost effervescent quality. She’s a lingerer and the opening and first hour does remind me of the color red. Not a heavy scent but nice sillage. I paid $14 on Fragrancebuy . I’m going to pick up Joop! le Bain and try layering this like another reviewer suggested. This is a a fun scent without being juvenile or cloying. I’m a fan!

I personally cannot compare this beauteous fragrance to any other. It starts off with a spicy cherry blast. Is it heavy and sexy? Oh yeah! Those spices remain, leaving a warm trail and sillage that is sweetened by the fruit: lychee, cherry, peach, and blackcurrant. It warms me up , cheers me up and at the same time , makes me feel sultry and sexy. It is a very much loved 'celebration' scent to me and I find it great for the hollidays. Sweet smokey woods, honeyed resins and spices and florals that do not screech. Lovely combo with great longevity, sillage and personality: s.o. mentionned Grace Kelly.. I agree xxx

This is the in-your-face spicy lusciousness that makes me remember Christmas time in Beverly Hills 1989. It is so under-rated and maligned! It has more complexity than classic Halston and more longevity than (original) Opium. There are serious layers to this that just continue to bloom on the wearer and the sillage is one that lingers when you leave the room and people ask all the time "what are you wearing?" I wish they would give it a better presentation bottle and box and pull it out of the vintage drug store market- it deserves so much more! It is not old-fashioned, it is timeless! Elegant, classy.

This fragrance is most definitely an 80'S creation. I discoveted it in the mid 90's and loved it immediately.Thete is something warm, floral extravagnt all embracing about it. All embracing is the operative word here. It is potent, so a little goes a long way, and too much would be overbearing fast. It is a heavy scent, but not overly sweet the way many contemporary scents are, no candy floss here! Due to its potency, i feel its great year round except for the hottest humidest days. Not really a work fragrance due to its insistence. As this is not a subtle fragrance, try before you buy.

I have to say thanks to my dear friend Stregalietta who sends me her empty bottle some months aGO. I could smell it and I decided to order one bottle from a web site. I must say I fell in love instantly. I detect carnation sorrounded by a sweet floral and cherry bouquet. I can say it's a spicy fragrance for me not gourmand but more sweet and wearable than Youth Dew or Cinnabar. The price is wonderful but anyone can think the fragrance I wear is so cheap. It smell more expensive. Well Done. I forget to say I have a current version and I'm very satisfied from it.

I've been wearing this fragrance since 1989 when it was released, I was 18 and was a sales associate at Bullock's Downtown, in Los Angeles. I simply purchased it because I loved the way it smelled. I remember one of my first lunch breaks after wearing it, I went into a fast food place and the guy behind the counter was like "what do you have on?". At that point, I knew that this fragrance was special and I would be wearing it for life. I have now been wearing this fragrance for close to 30 years and I love wearing it as if it were the first day I put it on.

Wow, this is a very budget-friendly version of the OG YSL Opium. Of course there are differences and this one leans more cherry and floral, but if you walked past someone on the street and they got a whiff, I bet they wouldn't know the difference. It's very close in many respects especially when it's sprayed on clothing. I think this is one of those perfumes that when you spray it on your coat at the start of winter, you'll smell it the entire season. It's gorgeous and if I am in the position where I can't afford the OG Opium, this is close enough for me.

To me this perfume is warm, sunny and comforting. There's a little green freshness to it and a little spiciness. I can recognize the myrrh and the sandalwood. However, there's more I can smell that I cannot recognize. This fragrance helps me boost my mood. It makes me feel calm, to be patient and confident. To be happy and motivated. It's staying power is weak. Stays about 90 minutes to 2 hours on skin. On clothing it is long-lasting, stays over 8 hours 30 minutes. It has become my most favourite. Will continue to buy it as long as I can.

Lovely. A big, classy, dark amber that instantly elevates any outfit. Not particularly unique but timeless and well-balanced. This might become my new signature, as it's "mature" but not "old". There's a touch of hard candy sweetness on the dry down, but this is primarily an amber/carnation fragrance. This one lacks the "waxiness" I dislike in so many 80s perfumes. Serious, no-nonsense, and practical. It reminds me of a couple highly intelligent professors I had in college. Great longevity and moderate projection. Gorgeous bottle, too.

Not bad! It has personality, it is recognizable, distinctive and long lasting. Old school powerhouse, in wich I detect mostly cherry and cinnamon (plus powder). Although I would say it's better suited to the cold season, I always picture myself on an alley full of pink cherry blossom trees smelling exactly like this.(although those trees smell nothing like the actual cherries as far as I heard ). So it is more like a spring fantasy smell in the middle of winter, if it makes any sense:). It's a classic ,I like it. UPDATE: love it;)

I love this exquisite fragrance. I love the cherry, carnation, Vanilla, and patchouli notes. Wearing it takes me back to the eighties When I spray it on I think of Julia Roberts in pretty woman at the opera with Richard g. Or a chic bistro in l.a. with Brian ferry's slave to love playing in the background. Red explodes with warmth and sensuality yet remains innocent and playful. I enjoy wearing it all fall season and even on hot Florida summer days. Although I love lots of other fragrances this one is the best.

This review is for the GBH Red vintage formulae. I am lucky to have the “Extraordinary Cologne”, body lotion and dry body oil (made in the USA-box was different ribbons are separate and foiled purple), anyone of the items scents me beautifully when worn alone. When layered in the winter time, 1/4 of a spray is plenty. To my nose all the notes are well blended and lasts until you wash. Even then, I still get waftings of here and there as I move about my environment. I am so glad to have it in my collection.

I bought a 100ml bottle of this early last year and not much of it is left. That shows that I'm super fond of it and it's so warm and comforting to me. Red is a great incense scent with a touch of amber and cedar to my nose. So beautiful and I love that the spray is a mist or else it would be easy to overspray. Such a classic that I've noticed doesn't get much love. I'm not one to have a signature scent but this is as close as I've gotten. Spicy goodness and perfect on a cold, winter day like today. :D

I first smelled Red as a teenager in the mid 90's. My mother had a bottle of this and Red 2. (Red 2 was better in its own way) I never forgot the smell and when I saw a bottle at Marshall's for $16, I grabbed it immediately. Red is a sexy yet mature perfume. It's like a bouquet of powdered roses swimming in a bath of amber and vanilla. The longevity and projection are out of this world. You will get noticed wearing this old school gem. I always get compliments from strangers when wearing Red.

Red is a fragrance I always wanted to try back in the day and just never got around to it. I finally picked up a bottle today for a very reasonable price. This does not disappoint. I love it! This is a wonderfully complex mix of cherry, ylang ylang, carnation, oakmoss, amber, and myrrh. It's fruity, floral, spicy, warm, and woody. I think the cherry note makes this fragrance very unique. And it has both ylang ylang and myrrh, which are two of my favorite notes. I knew I couldn't go wrong!

Found a 1/4 oz. of vintage pure parfum on eBay :) I loved it years ago and still love it now. If you'd like some then insist on the vintage. Gorgeous! Almost like sweeter (reformulated) Cinnabar and making me think a little of Royal Secret. I can't wait for cool autumn days to wear it. Warm and delicious and truly original, I'm surprised more scents didn't try to copy it. Quality from top to bottom with a delicious drydown of cherries, peaches, vanilla, amber, oh my ...

Love it Very inexpensive and not well known Oriental Floral Great silage and longevity Incredible complexity & blending in notes. With a large volume of notes making it quite delectable. I get the subtle sweetness of fruits (mainly cherry and currants) along with the usual oriental floral notes. Not a huge difference from opening to dry down imo. A really great alternative for occasional use to help my expensive Addict and Opium last longer.

Complex and all things red: A big velour blanket, a rich,red velvet cake, dragon's blood incense, a swig of Fireball, cinnabar and rubies. I claimed it as a signature, but my family forever confused it with Red Door....which I do not adore, and so, many gifts had to be returned. Red is complex: bold florals, fruit, incense, and woods. She is cryptic like Basquiat,"Plush safe she thinks." Yes, she is luxurient, but a little bit dangerous.

sweet, spicy and oakmoss; carnation, ylang, aldehydes, oakmoss, tuberose, hint of cherry but not fruity, myrrh and sandalwood and amber in the base; a sweet spicy mossy floral; this fragrance is not carnation intense and NOTHING like Red Moscow. This is just a spicy, sweet, mossy floral. Red Moscow is all carnation bliss with no oakmoss or sweetness. If they are similar because they are spicy, then okay.

I love this stuff-I can't add much to the other actual reviews except to say when I spray this on I am instantly transported back to the 80s(in a good way).For some reason I always think of the movie 'Working Girl' when I smell this-I bet everyone rocked this and Giorgio at the office back then(I was only 15 when it came out and wasn't in the work world yet):):)

Picked this up at Ross. Happy that I did. This fragrance is much more than cherry and rose. It is an outstanding blend of classic lady style combined with the drama from the 80's. Carnation and rose make their presence quickly along with cherry and aldehydes. The aldehydes outlast most of the other notes on my skin. Love this. Will repurchase.

I always forget that I own this and impressed with how gorgeous it is. Every year when I’m digging around for fall scents I’m like- Red! As if we met for the first time. It’s a very competent spicy floral- perfectly blended, never harsh or screechy like many of that era. Ridiculously good value for $7.99 or whatever it costs.

I bought a Red body mist on a whim..... Less than $10. Needless to say -- it's amazing! It's not strong like the perfume which I also have... I will say again, it's truly delightful. Perfume for the fall/winter and the mist for spring/summer. Doesn't last long but another spritz and you're good to go. Happy August everyone!

This reminds me of alot of Youth-Dew and the coca-cola vibe that it has, this is like a cherry cola version of Youth-Dew. Spicy, smokey and sweet. Lightly floral and quite a strong cherry note. Honestly surprised at how much I love this, I was scared the cherry note would be a nasty synthetic sweetness but its heavenly.

Thick,rich,creamy vanilla pudding topped with ripe succulent red cherries. Subtle cinnamon marshmallow sugar completes sensual taste enjoyment while sitting by a cozy October fireplace. In the distance captain of her heart by double Creates timeless romance. Red is not a fragrance but an experience!!!!

I've reviewed this one before. I LOVED it when I first had it but the next two bottles were a disaster. I put it down to a bad reformulation and moved on. Or so I thought. Lately, I started obsessing about it again so I took a risk and blind bought a 30ml. Giorgio Red, you have redeemed yourself! <3

Red is the perfect combination of carnation, cherry, sandalwood and amber. A lot of carnation fragrances can be tricky but this one does it more than well. It's a loud fragrance with very good longevity and silage.You will definitely get noticed wearing this one!

I love this. Old school makeup smell. It reminds me of Coco, tabu, and like a tiny hint of la petite robe noire all mixed together. I love the cherry cinnamon smell. It is so unique. It reminds me of my grandma. It think she wore this sometimes.
