Cœur Fou

Another pretty, sensual, fresh rose scent with three exceptional rose qualities in it. Like they say in their website, the rose is the ultimate icon of love. What makes this rose perfume different from others, for example from Dior’s Rose Kabuki, is Blackcurrant bud absolute and Basil in the opening and that vibrant, gentle green and herbal aroma is lingering with enchanting bouquet of roses. I love the airiness and feather-light texture, especially since the scent lasts and projects well and it has a glowing and addictive sillage. Patchouli and moss in the base are bright and subtle which sets this fragrance apart from the usual Rose Patchouli combo. Givenchy’s La Collection Particulière has surprised me with the versatility of course but with some uniqueness and unisex style as well. I have 5 from that collection and today I’m wearing the most feminine of them. There is something very special in all of them and especially Noctambule, Fantasque and Enflammé are definitely unisex, more of them in the following statements/reviews. Cœur Fou Givenchy (Store test) Very French, another reconstruction vintage chypre in modern format and modern material. "Cœur Fou, The Mad Heart", is breath-taking when the top start to dry-down transit to the bed of clean patchouli, mineral undertone and new way mossy note. I believe there might be new Moss material here. I feel like a heart of rose glow brightly in the bed of green note. I can feel the sexiness hiding when the red hits the green. Image of blond girl, bold red lip. "Katherine" in Under the Tuscan Sun, kind of. As Chypre structure, the fragrance means to develop. the heart often dry-down leads you to base note that hiding under the fragrance. And I think, Cœur Fou, is very sexy and beautiful.. in the dry down. it does recall similarity with L'Ombre Dans L'eau but that one is Floral-Green. A Rough bridal bouquet of Forest Rose, Green Leaf on Ambergris-like material. It doesn't have Chypre quality. I would reserve L'Ombre Dans L'eau on weekend. And Cœur Fou at night only. But I do agree, this leans on soft protection side of thing. Edit 1 21 Sept 2024 I think Givenchy do the best sexy rose. The lite and firey. I don’t find this kind of style in another designer house, which leans more girly or neat.

I first tested it last December while traveling to Saudi Arabia. Curious about what their Sephora stocks, I was not surprised that they mostly carry luxury and the more high-end perfume collections found at retailers like Neiman Marcus here in the USA. I had never seen the Givenchy Collection Particuliere in person, and I have to say that most of the fragrances were intriguing. But I am a sucker for an intoxicating rose, so Coeur Fou stood out among the rest. It smells like an amplified version of a natural garden rose. I did not notice any patchouli and was surprised that it is listed as one of the notes. If it is there, then it is discreet and inoffensive. The second runner up in this collection was Oiseau Rare which is also a rosey fragrance, though its profile here on Fragrantica doesn't list rose as a note. Never one to splurge on a perfume I have not thoroughly tested, I walked away. Now I regret not buying it because I see how hard it is to get my hands on this here in the USA. If anyone knows of a decant website, please message me. I'd love to start with a travel size.

My absolute favourite scent, love at first sniff at the duty free ... it has EVERYTHING i want in a special scent .... I am honestly obsessed. From the very first spritz, the cassis and basil just sparkle and make me so happy ... it’s bright, fresh, and literally electric. I can’t get enough. I love it so much. I genuinely feel its an under appreciated scent. Why is no one talking about how amazing this one is ??? The rose here is so luxurious, soft but full of life, and the moss and patchouli at the base give it this perfect, sophisticated touch that makes it exceptional. It’s like fun, elegance, and a little bit of magic all in one bottle. Every time I wear it, I feel soooo happy ... I can’t stop sniffing my wrist, and I just want to spray it everywhere. “Cœur Fou” is pure joy, and I am totally, hopelessly in love with it. – Bhavna Darira Chesan

Fabulously fresh and invigorating for those languid summer days, Coeur Fou opens on basil and currant leaves. The rose is not far behind, and as it unfurls its petals it brings a lovely juicy rosiness to the composition. The patchouli is very clean, and the oakmoss gives this perfume much greater longevity than expected. I had first sampled this is the middle of winter, and it didn't impress me then: I thought it was not so special. Flash forward to summer heat and it is absolutely enchanting! Coeur Fou is a rose that really requires heat to reveal it's most magical facets. Love this! Longevity is around 5 hours, and the sillage seems moderate, although several compliments let me know it could be smelled from much farther away than I thought. Givenchy gets bonus points for offering this in a 50ml. I wish more houses would follow suit!

A more rosy L'Ombre Dans L'Eau. Just what I wanted. BUT this only lasted four hrs on skin while that lasted 9-10hrs. Alas I will probably stick to my L'Ombre Dans L'Eau and layer some roses into it. But still this is lovely enough while it lasted.

These notes arent my cup of tea, but together they just work. This is a clean green fresh earthy rose. To my nose this is a fresher cleaner LV rose des vents. Smells like refined luxury and the dry down is intoxicating i love this so much!

Fresh, rosy and feminine scent.

Of all the rose genres, cassis-rose tends to rank very low for me. I appreciate the combination for what it is, but L'Ombre Dans L'eau, and anything similar, is not on my wishlist and probably never will. I was afraid to try Cœur Fou for the exact same reason, but I most admit the color and the packaging kind of inspired me to go in blind. Now, this is really a cassis-rose perfume and lovers of L’Ombre might either like this and the small nuances that separate this from the classic or find this too similar and not buy it, but for me, as someone who doesn’t like the combination to begin with, I just love this. The cassis is fresh and a bit pulpier than just a standard green scent and the rose blooms out with such a nice floral sheerness that feels uplifting. The moss gives a sort of underbrush fluffiness that keeps it from being too transparent. It’s a cooling fragrance, sometimes even cold with something I can’t help but compare to ‘Metal,’ though not prominent. That being said, for a cool fragrance, it didn’t really stand up well to the heat. I loved wearing this midday, loved catching whiffs of it as I walked around but I don’t find this fragrance particularly sweat friendly, not that I was jogging or at the gym when I wore this, but a mild sprint to reach the church in a rush seemed to have halved its performance instantly, so I doubt that this is a fragrance I would wear in the muggy heat of my country. It’s probably better on me for strictly indoor stuff only. The atomizer is very generous but even after four sprays, the performance leaves much to be desired. It had pretty decent projection for a fresh fragrance for about a good two hours on my skin and then maybe another good hour or so with a nice scent bubble before becoming a skin scent that I’d be perceiving randomly throughout the rest of the day. Maybe I’ll experiment with more sprays but I wish four had been enough.

A bright, airy opening. A light rose note is layered with hints of greenery, creating a fresh, open-air feel. The sweetness is restrained, giving an overall crisp impression. It has an airy, light quality. It has a fresh, floral quality, yet the green notes are subdued. Whilst there is a sense of freshness, it remains a refined, composed rose scent. The heart notes continue with a gentle floral character, evolving whilst retaining that lightness. The sillage is moderate, spreading without becoming too distant. The finish retains a hint of softness, leaving a clean, fresh trail. The dry-down remains light and fades away smoothly. The sweetness is restrained, with lightness taking centre stage. Longevity is moderate, making it suitable for daytime wear. A faint trace of rose lingers among the leaves as the breeze blows through.

This smells like a rosier and less sweeter version of Burberry Her EDT. It smells light, and can easily be used as an everyday perfume. Not worth it for the price though.

At first I was like ok it’s nice but that’s about it. Then, as time was passing I was coming back to smelling my skin and loved the scent more and more. For someone who’s not fruity/rose type of person im soo in love with Coeur Fou! It’s perfect for spring nights.

VERY nice opening, but then I barely smell it anymore? Just get something musky. Might have to try it again.

This is for blackcurrant lovers. No cat pee. Modern Chypre composition without patchouli. Fantastic

Cassis Rose Musk, more musk version of Lombre Dans Leau or Luna
