Eau de Givenchy

Reviewing an old bottle with the blue plastic cap, estimate early 80s, but unable to verify. EdG opens quite medicinally. For the first few minutes it's difficult to tell that this is perfume, as it smells more like rubbing alcohol with a touch of mint. Then the heart opens, and a fresh, realistic LoV note takes center stage, supported by lemon, cyclamen, and just a touch of nicely oily narcissus. White musk is also present at this point, although it remains in the background. During the dry down jasmine appears. I pretty much get jasmine, jasmine, and more jasmine for about 20 minutes. This scent isn't strong so much as it is pervasive. Eventually the jasmine lets up a little, and the rose, very faintly, makes an appearance, and there is just the slightest touch of sweetness, which swells into a true honeysuckle scent. Lemon remains a strong under note throughout. Distinctly fresh, not too strong, *quite* clean. If your surgeon walked in wearing this, you would feel comfortable. I had been searching for a clean fresh floral for work wear, but this crystal clarity is almost too much for me. I say "almost" because I have hope that I can grow into this scent. I admire EdG greatly. I enjoy smelling it. I am not certain that it's a good fit for me. Something about the sparkling transparency of this scent makes me feel uncomfortable. I'm not sure if it is a little too astringent, or if ultimately EdG just feels harsh to me. On my skin, this scent presents in such a way that I think it would be better on a man. I'm not getting any oak moss, or orris, both of which would provide some helpful muddying of the water. The ylang ylang is also not making an appearance, and I would appreciate the sweet spice as a reprieve from the glare of this scent. When the honeysuckle moves to the front I quite enjoy it but that note proves elusive. I remain undecided. Test before buying. EDIT: Several months later, EdG is one of the most beautiful scents I own. Possibly *the* most beautiful. I wish that it were more readily available, as I would make this a signature if I weren't so afraid of running out. Give yourself some time with this scent. It'll grow on you. I still find EdG crustal clear, but now I find it warm and colorful, relaxing, like watching sunshine sparkling through cut glass, refracting rainbows around a room.

Like the soul of the wild flowers that he throws in the river every sundown when he remembers of her the most, for her body was never found. And after dragging his weary feet back home every time he smells the perfume she has left behind and a wistful smile appears on his lips. For he craves to believe that she went into the river for just a heartbeat so as to wash the dirt of her feet. And the water nymphs, bewitched by her beauty, dragged her forever in their world. And now, every evening, they array her with silken garments and sit her down on a sapphire throne, where they comb her hair whilst lulling her with their canorous aquatic song. Watery...Ethereal...Velvety... Like her laughter. Like her short years. Like her coming, her journey and her end...

I've had a sample of this little beauty tucked away unsniffed for way too long and just started a commitment to review all my unsniffed vials before purchasing any more samples, and I've come across some long lost surprises. This is one of them. Occasionally, white florals can remind me very much of cheap bathroom spray with their metallic screechiness. Usually I am wary when I see a lily of the valley note. But Eau de Givenchy is executed quite finely. The narcissus and LOTV notes are most apparent to my nose and are joined by delicately sweet, fresh honeysuckle and gauzy tuberose. No powerhouse of white florals as they remain well mannered and modest in the background allowing LOTV and narcissus to take the spotlight. Jasmine is just an accent in its floral presence, but its indole is vegetal and gives the perfume some soft organic body. Ylang ylang is gently understated in its fullness, soft and yellow, almost with a tropical melon nuance also a little vegetal -- you know that green dandelion smell. Oakmoss, orris and delicate musk in combination create a dry, earthy and slightly powdery base for the freshness. A little woody, yet bright and cheerfully elegant. A fantastic fragrance for spring and summer. In fact, an elegantly joyful floral year round. Similar to Chanel Cristalle EDP in structure, however I think I would choose Eau de Givenchy with more beauty and charisma.

This has a special place in my heart! Oh This was my go to! My “Joie de Vivre’ way back in the eighties! This was a time in my life of many new beginnings! Like bright nodding heads of narcissuses on a crisp spring morning! It’s about fresh, new beggings and life. I was at Uni, in a new town, many new friends and experiences! I was also studying, partying, working, dating! Life was so full, fun, exciting and always a tad scary! This perfume was my favourite summer fragrance back then! I remember periodically spraying my homemade satin cushion with this! It had an antique tea stained lace covering that layered out all around in a kind of frill, that was always placed on my pillow on my freshly made bed. So it doubled up as a very special linen freshener! I refreshed It again when the scent weakened. My room always smelled divine! ! I still remember the scent clearly in my mind! It was very refreshing and energising to me and very beautiful,chic, and clean, reminded me of summer and water! This pepped my step and was the early zest for those busy days! I miss this! It was a mixture of floral, fresh, and also marine! The colours of white, blue and green! So unique so lovely, I would love to get my hands of a bottle of the eighties version! A classic in my opinion, love this!~<3

Honeysuckle, ylang-ylang, lily of the valley, a dash of oakmoss, a hint of woods ~ most noticeably sandalwood and cedar. Super-clean soapy powdery heaven. The most ethereal composition of delicate flowers I have ever experienced. This does not refer to the modern Les Mythiques version (which I have not tried) nor the original perfume (in the vintage blue box, which I liked well enough but did not love). The one I am referring to is the middle version in the standard Givenchy spray bottle, presented in a white box with dark blue borders. It was a blind purchase for me; I was anticipating a similar scent to the one I remembered from the 80s. However the formula must have been significantly altered, and very much for the better ~ little did I expect the gorgeousness which followed! It reminds me very much of Annick Goutal Le Chèvrefeuille and Eau de Camille, to some extent also Chant d'Arômes de Guerlain ~ all three having in common a distinct, very beautiful honeysuckle leitmotif. Still, this one is different from any of the above and stands in a class all its own. I would describe it as light, airy, refreshing, not a winter scent but certainly an ideal choice for summer. A BEAUTY.

I'm shocked that this doesn't get more attention, especially with spring oncoming - it is THE perfect number for a classy spring number! Eau de Givenchy is a masterpiece. A triumph of honeysuckle married to the loveliest lily of the valley! The narcissus and citrus notes are here a gentle backing act, the green notes wrapping all with the balance only masters can achieve. This will never bore you - it's a very classy pick me up, round and soft, with great sillage and longevity. In hotter days it is just a dream! I am so glad to have found a bottle of this very original, unmistakable, unsurpassed green concoction. I treasure it, relishing every drop. A must for white floral and green lovers!!! I feel very sassy when I wear this. Try to believe, nothing outdated here, nor acrid, or in your face, or too woody.

Eau de Givenchy is not an apt name for this perfume. I believe it's too simple. Such understatement and poise which doesn't smell overbearing like the proper and harsh green fragrances which preceded it. The narcissi is impeccably blended with nondescript fruits which is why maybe it's classed as a fruity floral. Or to how the lemons and mandarins dominate it that's why the named it aptly "eau". Or perhaps the prominent oakmoss that's why some call it a green chypre. To me, it can't be categorized as any of the three but this is a floral fragrance with the lightness of a cologne and the backbone of a green perfume. It's now replaced by an impostor, sadly. Get the Les Mythiques Eau as long as they still sell it or the vintage one with the azure cap. You won't regret it.

Eau de Givenchy should be the official fragrance of spring. That's what I get from this lovely scent: narcissus and other white spring flowers. So beautiful, a bit sharp, so fresh and green! Just like the spring flowers I grow in a vain attempt to capture their scent. I bought this iconic fragrance many years ago when it was on close out. The blue marbled stripe and cap never fail to delight me. Eau de spring, I hope you haven't been reformulated, surely nothing could improve on your perfection. Sigh ... Eau has been reformulated. This review is from July 2018, and in Sept. of the same year I found out about the new version. According to the reviewers the new Eau isn't anything special, certainly not like the original. I'm very sad now.

If you can obtain a bottle, or find it in moms collection, check this gem out. Its got a little bit of everything while staying clean, fresh with richness. The grapefruit, ylang, honeysuckle notes are fresh and beautiful. Its a crisp white shirt and diamond studs in your ear. Casual elegance. I reach for it knowing its always appropriate. It has a subtle beauty much like its oriental counterpart from the same creator in Balahe. This is a great spring vintage scent.I just love it and the Jasmine is one for the ages. I dont know if there is anything out there like it...Id make it my signature if it was available, but alas it is tough to come by....and thats coming from a hard core oriental girl... Its that good. Perfection really.

Wearing my original EdT (splash) today, because life is too short not to enjoy the beauties I have and love. Oh what a glorious fragrance Eau de Givenchy is! It has lost none of its powers - it is today as chic as it ever was, remains both delicate and strong, full of strict and abundant flowers and oakmoss. The honeysuckle is outstanding, but every single note shimmers and sings alongside. Although youthful, it is by its character grown up, capable and true, a real joy and happy acquaintance. So happy to still have this. Highly recommended if you manage to find a vintage bottle. (It would be good if the introductory text could be changed to indicate that this is a chypre, not a 'fruity floral'. Thank you.)

Is it bitter? Is it sweet? Is it dirty? Is it neat? Eau de Givenchy is unique for its kind as it can at once remind me of mowed grass and muguet scented gin with a squeeze of grapefruit and then intermittently whisper dirty jasmine nothings from a mint-garnished décolletage. An eau, a "water," should be fresh, but this at once seems fresh in the literal sense and then again in the figurative sense, but mind you, discreetly so. This is all good and proper, but what puts it right in the socket is a musky sandalwood dry down with suggestions of muted green echoes and white musk nuzzles, which sure enough butters my toast. I like it!

It opens with sparkling notes of grapefruit, sweet, fresh notes of mandarin orange and bergamot, mint and red fruit. The middle notes are ylang-ylang, honeysuckle, pure jasmine, narcissus, tuberose, lily-of-the-valley, rose, cyclamen and orris root. Base notes are warm sandalwood, musk, cedar and oakmoss. I remember wearing this one in high school, along with Ralph Lauren Lauren. RLL when you were feeling bold, and EdG when you were feeling more subtle. It was always recommended for nurses, teachers, anyone who has to limit fragrance due to others/their own allergies. Fresh and appealing.

This is a more floral cousin to Givenchy III, which I adore and is my preferred green chypre alternative to Chanel No 19. The unsprayed 50ml from 1990 I found of EdG is glorious. I've come to learn that white florals (especially jasmine), yellow/orange citrus (especially mandarin) and oakmoss are a common theme in my all-time favourites. Throw in some honeysuckle and sandalwood and the show is over without a song being sung. I particularly like the way the basenotes anchor and balance the florals here; without them it would become all melody and no counterpoint.

I bought it a few years ago in Sephora in Paris, where some forgotten fragrances still can be found (Passage du Havre). This fragrance reminds me of the days when I was first becoming aware of perfumes and their impact on personal style. This one to me is good style. Well blended, rich in naturals, yet with personality. I can smell it on myself for the whole day and on the clothes afterwards. I do not wear it very often, but somehow it is irreplacable. It reminds me of good cosmetics, lipsticks, cleanliness, abundance. Happy discreet fragrance.

Oh how I love this scent! I had a holiday in Australia when I was young woman and bought this at the duty free. It brings back such good memories. I have kept a bottle on the go now for 30 years as I stocked up many years ago because I loved it so much. Bright, clean and not a scent I will ever tire of. I have tried to find something like it but nothing seems to come close. The mint, floral, chypre and orris root predominate for me and the dry down is bliss. I have had so many compliments over the years.

I love this perfume. It is the only one I have ever worn, sonce the day I was given the first sample about its start ca 1980 to now, that makes it about 30 years... My mother is on a mission to get every bottle she finds in old shops, becaute is has shamefully been discontinued. Why??? I love its fresh notes and even more the warmer tones that lingers on the skin. I do not know anymore after so many years which smell is mine and which is the perfume's.

(vintage) a lovely tangy green chypre, perhaps it’s the combination of narcissus/lily of the valley and oak moss, but the vintage certainly has a unique fresh tang and I love it. I only wear the vintage. It’s perfect for Spring, when everything is bursting into green! It evolves beautifully, you think it’s going to be floral but the green and woods come in with that fresh twist, and there’s no aldehyde headache - this is a favourite. 10/10 :)

This is another of the smells that ignited my interest in perfumes! It's bitter but nonetheless fresh, ideal for summer and autumn, extremely long lasting, very different from other eaus (check the "reminds me of.." list), especially because of the combination of oakmoss with honeysuckle and lily of the valley + grapefruit. There's also something that reminds me of the open sea... Unquestionably unisex, i think, and very underrated...

I'm in heaven today! After trying so many perfumes to try and replace Eau de Givenchy as my signature sent, I decided to buy a new "les parfums mythiques eau de givenchy" online and it arrived last night. I'm wearing it today and it smells so good. It smells fresh and feminine and it makes me feel special! I should have ordered several bottles because I do not want to run out again and it's so hard to find...

It is easier to describe this perfume by what it is not: is such a clean scent...but does NOT bring to mind laundry, grass, aqua, or chemicals. The citrus sparkles for a brief minute, then blends beautifully down into clear, rosey, slightly-bitter, slightly-old-fashioned floral threads and then fades to a wonderful, soft, burring musky-amber haze...not cloying, not smothering, interesting-yet-genteel.

I love Givenchy III, which is heavier, mossier, and stankier - this is its floral airy cousin. I would say it is an almost aquatically floral scent for those who find acquatic floral scents boring and generic. Anyone who likes modern clean florals or aquatics should smell this to see how far that genre can be stretched. It is my favorite spring perfume of them all. Vintage version.

I believe it's been discontinued, I had a bottle of Eau de Givenchy (edt) packed in a long blue box in late 90s and ever since I wasn't able to find it again. I remember it was fresh, crisp and youthful, though in an elegant way. It suited me perfectly at that time, but I'm not sure I'd go for it once again, also because the latest edition seems a bit overpriced.

Just got a vintage bottle on ebay and it smells DIVINE...exactly as I remember when I wore it 23 years ago. It is a subtle skin scent, great for everyday, casual, fresh and clean. It does have a wonderful "lived in" feeling about it though. The longevity is amazing - even after all these years - a testiment to the quality of Givenchy. C'est si bon.

A treasure, inherited from Mom. Other reviewers have described it well. It's fresh, but delicate. Watery, but not "aquatic." Earthy, but clean. Clean, but not too clean! Wears like an eau de cologne, but it isn't citrusy, lasts longer, and has a more complex drydown. A smiling, lovely, scent of a garden in late May, wafting through an open window.

Eau De Givenchy is a wonderful, light scent. It is probably the only perfume I used during the 80s thatI would still use today. Many of the perfumes I used to love back then ( Amarige, Poison, Georgio etc) is far too heavy for me today. Unfortunately, I have not been able to get hold of it in Sweden.

I've not owned the original in many years but oddly it was a fave in 1981- 1985 -ish. I seem to remember it reminded me of the crispest of gin and tonics. A classic and it never made me think of any age range. Definitely feminine to my nose. Hoping to buy the original again soon.

One of the very few fragrances of its type that has no jagged edges. This is just amazing. A perfect blend of green notes and white florals. Elegant and effortless, it's very much the soul of spring. One of the most underrated fragrances in Givenchy's catalog.

This is a very unforgettable 80s scent. It's fresh, fruity with floral and green notes. It's a light and happy fragrance. One of my favorites, ever.

It’s late February here in Maryland, and I received a generous bottle of this in a trade with Phantomias. This is an appropriate time of year to use this gem, because it smells to me like early spring. It’s fresh and green and floral. I can see how, as one reviewer noted, EdeG would go well with the petrichlor scent after a rain. I’ve been wearing it for a couple hours now. When I first sprayed it on, it resembled the original Y de Yves Saint Laurent fragrance in its breezy green soapiness. Right now, the mint is what I notice most. It will be interesting to see how the fragrance evolves over the day. They just don’t make fragrances like this anymore!

I've just now acquired this after a very long absence. I had fond memories of this scent from when I wore it in the late 80's. I had remembered it to be citrusy and fresh. I found a mini vintage bottle and it smells just like I remember. The citrus are dominant top notes without smelling like any type of citrus cleansers. I think it's balanced well with the floral and base notes. I can't pick out any of the base notes individually, but they balance this scent well. It also reminds me somewhat of Weil Bambou, although W.B. is much stonger in the tuberose. This is a very nice scent for a hot balmy summer day/night.

Vintage first version in the blue box with wavy thin stripes : very lovely fragrance with vintage feel for sure . Do not be mislead by the Floral fruity written above because the original formula has nothing to see with modern fruity florals . It is slightly sweet with a slightly skanky musky drydown I appreciate very much . If you like vintages , give it a try ! Elegant but versatile , that is easy to wear , not in your face. Not as mossy as the green queens of the 70s but yes , Eau de Givenchy is more 70s than 80s to my nose . Would make a terrific masculine :-)

This is fresh, clean and smells of melons! My mother and I both purchased a bottle each at the airport many years ago. The smell of it now always reminds me of that holiday. The last bottle I purchased didn't quite smell the same on my skin, the formulation seemed different to how I remember it. In a nutshell, its an aquatic, fruity scent which is unlikely to offend anyone. It lasts reasonably well, but is very hard to get hold of nowadays. I used to like it, but its not one of my favourites.

Got one from my mother in law, who sometimes received cosmetics as gifts but never applied any to herself. This one slept in her bathroom for nobody knows how long, because the spray cap was missing and I had to snatch a cap from another perfume for it. It's a hard to define smell - floral and soapy, but I cannot tell exactly which flowers are there. The overall atmosphere, is quite confident and radiant. Not overwhelmingly strong either. It makes a good office scent.

Wow, Mellyhelly has given us an amazing review of Eau de Givenchy! I've been pondering that "peculiar note" for some time, but she's got it all figured out... I don't think that calling this a Floral Fruity really does it justice - it's quite green , and is one of those rare fragrances that won't discriminate against age or season. I'm wearing it today, in a snowy November, as contentedly as I did in July. I wish I could find a huge bottle to last the rest of my life!

A lovely, vintage "green chypre" with a base of oakmoss, amber, and galbanum, that focuses less on aldehydes and more upon the naturalness of stems, leaves, and woods. I would say that, if you enjoy Silences, No. 19, and perhaps Aliage, this one is worth seeking out for its crisp, vintage freshness- like a garden in springtime after a deep rain. Addendum: Also wearing it now on an unusually-warm, rainy autumn day... it goes well with the petrichor.

I always have some. It reminds me of a time in my past. I don't use it often but would be bereft without it.

I have a vintage miniature bottle of this classic cologne. While it is marketed towards women, EDG is unisex, even masculine-leaning to my nose. The varying attempts to categorise this scent reflect its deceptive complexity - descriptions range from floral-fruity to chypre (my two cents: this is definitely not a floral fruity). I find that this is closest to a classic eau de cologne. EDG reminds me most of the Farina Original Cologne I have from the Farina Fragrance Museum in Cologne. EDG opens with a sharp blast of alcohol that gives way to thin, screechy citrus notes. I am disappointed by the opening, and thought I would hate this scent. However, it improves as it develops, with soft white florals (narcissus in particular) and aromatic, yet harsh green notes rounding it out. The mossy base gives it a chypre quality as it continues to dry down (yet it is much more thin, watery and subtle than chypres in general). It becomes a little soapy. It fades to an aquatic, slightly salty skin scent with fading remnants of the harsh green notes after about three hours. Sillage is moderate while it lasts, and longevity is fleeting, which is to be expected for an "eau" such as this. On the surface, it is an eau de cologne with the body of a chypre - an unusual and intriguing creature. It is too harsh and thin for my taste, and I prefer richer scents in general. Still, would suit lovers of fresh green colognes, and manages to be a little bit different. 2/5.

My mother received this as a gift from the small office she worked for, where the boss gave all the “gals” a Christmas bonus of $100 plus a bottle of perfume. I’m from a small town originally, and none of my mom’s friends (the gals) knew what Givenchy was, nor did they have any idea how to pronounce the name. My mom’s favorite coworker Katherine said it was pronounced “give an inch” and they all fell out laughing. It was on our bathroom vanity counter for the longest time. My mom tried to wear it and it gave her her first ever migraine with aura - she thought she was going blind. It was BIG in the way 80s fragrances could be, full of heady florals, but not sweet like Giorgio - more powdery and a little bit peppery. I remember it to this day. She never wore it again but I’d sneak in a spray once in a while, when I knew she wouldn’t catch me. It was far too old for teenage me, who mostly wore Love’s Baby Soft, but I felt so sophisticated in it, never mind that it made me sneeze. :)

I found this fragrance a little difficult- it had an off-outting sour note in the top layer, which was evident both from the bottle and on my skin- following the strange intro, it more or less disappeared, leaving a very thin "skin scent" behind. Not one I'm going to adopt-

I owned this in the early 90's and adored it. I always foumd it a fresh, comforting scent that gave me confidence. It smelt light and fresh but lingered for hours. I now want to treat myself to this again as it conjures up many good memories.

I have a vintage miniature of this, and unfortunately, my skin chemistry / how my nose interprets it, means it smells like pee 😟 Under that, I can detect clean, soapy white flowers, and perhaps a touch of incensey type spice?

I still own a very small mini from the '80s of Eau de Givenchy and it smells fresh as then! I don't know if it has gone through reformulation. My review is for the vintage version. This was presented as a very fresh, careless, casual and sporty fragrance but not without typical Givnechy's elegance! If I'm not wrong I remember an ad they said "Givenchy sans talons haut" and this says a lot about the aim of this fragrance in the house's eyes. Yes, it is fresh and casual and elegant. It inspires run away from formality into a (expensive!) vacation. Think of white and blue, luxury sea boats with people dressed simply yet expensively, ladies in their off days, off from work maybe but most of all off daily duties in formal marriages, if it makes sense. Kind of aristocratic holiday. Mint is the initial note mixed with unpointed fruits, then flowers in the heart, lots of flowers as if it was a grand soirèe scent, but kept clean and transparent, not sultry at all. Finally a good woody light base like it is unseen and unsmelled nowadays. A total brash elegant sporty? Not so completely. Eau de Givenchy still holds a peculiar note that I found in all vintage Givenchy before bad re-formulation that I would call "animalic" even if it's not a very skanky smell. It's kind of skin scent that makes a person smell less squeaky clean and more "lived up" even a little unwashed. It's a very subtle feeling, the same as in innocent Fleur d'Interdit (vintage) and in Amarige vintage. It's a soft balance between elegance and vulgarity, cleanliness and sultry sexuality and it used to work in spectacular way on my skin many years ago, I think before re-formulation. The sillage is very close to skin but lasting power is very high here. It really makes me think of undressing and wearing only confortable white shirt and pants with comfy shoes (but with Givenchy design!) and go for a vacation where not only pure sea air and walks along the beach can be there, but also maybe a careless summer affair could happen, with tons of refinement, of course :-)

Eau de Givenchy is a divine floral chypre. While it's a floral fruity it's not like the fruit candy I smell in perfumes department stores today. This is a rich fruit concoction but even so it's not too heavy and it's mostly a flowers and woods scent. The opening is citrus. Lots of grapefruit and bergamot and other abstract fruits with a touch of mint. Fresh and delicious like actual fruit in a market place. The citrus is what I most enjoyed and it really does feel like spring time. It's a cornucopia of fruit and flowers. Let's talk about the flowers. To my nose this was a bouquet of lovely lily of the valley, narcissus, an tuberose. There's a honeysuckle in there as well giving it a sweet sticky floral oiliness which I like. Then there's a big jasmine bomb that detonates as the fragrance really kicks in. Just flowers for days. If you love flowers and love to wear flowers in the spring season, this is a good choice. The dry down lacks the vanilla and candy nonsense we see in stores today. This is purely a chypre at the end, with fragrant wood notes of cedar and sandalwood. Love that sandalwood. And there's a touch of musk but it's bigger on woods. I love this so much. I think I'll wear it all week. I never do get tired of some fragrances. This is the kind that you keep enjoying time and again. A classic timeless spring floral fragrance.

As a lover of green fragrances, I'm always excited when I find something that smells of dewey fields and unopened flowers. Eau de Givenchy comes pretty close to ticking off all of my "green" boxes. It opens with a brilliant and clean lemon, and swiftly transitions into an array of grassy notes and white florals, namely honeysuckle, lily of the valley, and jasmine. Although strong hints of them abound, these florals never really take center stage, and as rapidly as they appear, are just as rapidly tinged with the same bitter green grassiness of the opening. Tuberose and oakmoss are present, but take a backseat to the greens. Eventually, as Eau de Givenchy settles, the contrast of green and floral finds a steady balance, leaving a very light, herbal skinscent in its wake. I think this fragrance is almost perfect. I wish it were a little less floral, as those notes compromise the incredible greenness of the grass accords. It could also be a smidgen stronger in concentration, but we're talking an eau de cologne-style perfume here. Although marketed to women, I find this to be utterly wearable as a man, and find a stark comparison to the equally-scintillating Chevrefeuille Original by Creed. Quite honestly, I think I'd rather wear this instead and save myself the $$. It certainly smells just as expensive, and it's just right for a spring or summer day.

What a rare and pure scent with a very outstanding character! It’s green, crisp, not too citrus-y, with the delicate flower notes reminding me of my Mom’s garden in early spring. Of all the honeysuckle perfumes that I came across, this one is closest to the real bloom scent. Such a treat! On my skin it’s all about white flowers first - jasmin, honeysuckle, clearly narciss and a tiny bit of lily-of-the-valley, then rooty and woody notes come through (and I could swear - glove!) blending into a close-to-skin seawater-y yet somehow animalic scent. Lasting power is not the greatest on my skin, but it makes me want to refresh it during the day to go through the white flowers garden once again... Never been happier with a blind purchase!

This perfume will always bring me back memories of summer nights. When I smell it it reminds me the ambience depicted in the movie (and novel) "Bonjour tristesse" set in the 1950s Côte d'Azur. Actually, Givenchy himself designed the costumes for the movie. It's a beautiful scent where jasmine and sandalwood are entwined so perfectly that you can almost see yourself walking by a beach at night with the sea water gently caressing your feet. You'll have to excuse me, I'm getting poetic, too many memories I guess. It has otherwise a good lasting power (5-6 hours) and it's not as expensive as other Givenchy scents.

I was surprised at just how much I enjoyed this fragrance. It is very much a product of the early eighties. It's like you can smell the era in the notes. It's a delicate but not fragile floral. That means it will not overwhelm, nor will it fade on you. In fact one of the best things about it is how it had great longevity and did interesting things as the day wore on. At first it was just a floral for me. But two hours in I got a whiff of mint. An hour later for a while it was almost masculine. But only for a very short while. It took me through the day, in a lovely waft of flowers and time travel.
