Eau Torride

per un giorno così caldo come oggi, niente è più adatto di quest'acqua torrida, che sì, sembra un ossimoro, ma tant'è. difficile da trovare, si tratta di un profumo inspiegabilmente fuori commercio da un bel po', probabilmente per le reazioni del tutto estreme che provoca. e il suo nome, lungi dall'essere eccentrico o inadatto, corrisponde esattamente alla concezione dell'accordo. al primo spruzzo si percepiscono immediatamente le note torride di frutta secca (a me sembra albicocca) miste all'aroma di sambuco: l'effetto è assai atipico e ricorda vagamente la versione speziata di green tea (E. Arden). non a tutti questa fase risulta gradevole, anzi. a poco a poco poi viene fuori un bouquet di "acqua" in senso classico, e cioè note agrumate (di mandarino per lo più) e verdi (di bambù). il fondo è leggero e lievemente legnoso, con un tocco appena percettibile di gelsomino. molto buono.

Quite similar to Carolina Herreras Chic, only perhaps a little lighter and more sophisticated. More citrusy upfront. then becomes very good fresh warm skin after day at the beach type scent. I liked this a lot. Yet another piece of genius discontinued. I think I'm getting the picture.. anything I like gets taken away from me.. Up yours Universe!! >:( Sorry. Got a bit upset there :(

This is fabulous! It could have been made by Hermès. It is extremely elegant and deep. I do smell the citrus, but they are not as noticeable as in Hermès perfumes. They add a nice touch, but Eau Torride is mainly green and earthy, and eventually very dry too. It smells a bit like a dried vegetable soup with lots of character. Not spicy as the best known Givenchy scents.

Another gem discontinued..it's so frustrating. I still have a little bit on the bottom of my bottle, so I can get a sniff from time to time, when i miss it. It's a very special and weird scent, spicy, smokey dry peach. It's strong and yummy, and really perfect for hot weather.

I adore this perfume! I feel so bad they discontinued it!! Why????!!! If anybody wants to get rid of this one I d be glad to work it out!!! :)

mmmmmm che buona quest'acqua torrida e aromatica!

Released in 2002, remains unknown by many, especially in Brazil. It is a women's fragrance, but perfectly shareable, which comes to be considered more masculine than feminine, for anyone who has ever tried. It contains notes of lemon, bergamot, Mandarin orange and peach accord in the output. In the heart, jasmine Sambac and elderberries (sambucus nigra); at the base, sandalwood and bamboo. When touches the skin, seems that something has gone wrong. The first time I experienced, I thought something in it had oxidized. The output is bitter and sour, really strange. Obviously, it makes me understand why it is so little known, since the sales power of a fragrance is directly connected to its output notes, because they are the ones who earn the bulk of consumers worldwide, who base their choices just in tests with olfactory tapes. And if the output does not please, of course, the product gets stranded on the shelves and in stocks. But, as a fan of the Givenchy House and its perfumes, instead of running to wash my skin, I decided to wait and see the developments. And it was a great decision! The fragrance is really a "steaming water", which heats the nostrils, the senses and stays for hours on the skin without fading. Is citric and floral, with a lovely evolution that culminates in a base of natural aspect, typical of fragrances that have bamboo notes. A treat for warmer days that, I'm sorry the joke, bathes lots of niche perfumes out there. The bottle is also interesting because it looks like falling water in a natural way, without that aerated aspect from taps.

This is one of the first perfumes I ever used, at 12. My mom got it as a gift from my dad, but she, having grown in the poverty of the USSR, thought it "too fancy" for her to wear and she rather it decorated the living room instead. When I kept sniffing it she suggested I wear it instead, and I did! I remember it being very citrucy and refreshing, a sweet and sour treat for super hot days. I remember it being a bit sharp for a 12 yo, but still much better and more sophisticated than the celebrity scents that dominated the school halls. I have just seen it for sale as second hand, and can't stop thinking about it. Should I buy it? Isn't it too reminiscent of my teenage years? I'm very tempted to get it for old time's sake, but I'm afraid I'm not ready for this trip down memory lane. I will most likely not wear it anymore, as my tastes have vastly evolved since. But considering this has been long discontinued and it's extremely hard to get it, I'm still on the fence. It's not that expensive, too. I think that had it not been the scent of my horrific teenage years, I would be wearing it on very hot days when I don't want to smell like much. It's one of those "invisible" scents that are at the same time inoffensive, but with a twist.

I caved in and bought this from the pharmacy that has keep it's stock since time immemorial. It's very different from the kinds of perfumes on offer these days as there is no sweetness here. It does give the impression of heat like a sauna, it's so spicy. Someone mentioned celery and I can sense that in there if I smell close to the skin, it's a little bitter and green with the bamboo and citrus. There's some distant florals keeping it fresh, with a hot peach fuzz note, which is what captures my attention the most. The drydown is a spicy peach skin musk with a tangy sandalwood. If I didn't know it was Givenchy, I would have thought it was something from Kenzo, as it has that kind of vibe. It doesn't project much, but for a vintage, it still has good longevity. Also, it reminded me a little of Shimo by Monsoon, anothet distant and forgotten perfume. It's going nicely with the hot summer weather, much like I remember Shimo did too.

starts very nasty, i dont know how black elder smells, i guess this is it, later it turns down volume just that you know its still there, but blends very lovely with other guys in this mixture, i even think without it, this fragrance wouldnt be even worth talking about. so, give it 10 min. and then! enjoy its fruity freshness. its the first time i think that i can actually smell ALL of the notes, i think peach and bamboo stand out just enough to compete with citruses, which are always tough to overpower, but here, its a tie. jasmine and wood guard the back of this tactical formation. i usually dont like fruity but this 1 doesnt smell like food or shampoo, its well balanced with flower/wood, fresh, recognizable and lasting. it doesnt scream which is always good for me ;)

I just realised this works so much better in hot weather! Now the sweet notes comes out and make a better composition with the more bitter notes. It doesn't make me love it more but at least I don't hate it now! :-D Also: Works well with Breath Of God by Lush.

Definitely different but I like it. It's got some rubbery, salad-like qualities and the fruits are there as well. Fairly simple composition and slightly feminine-leaning. Best for hot summer nights. It wasn't popular so you can find it rather cheaply nowadays.

Smells like a very delicate flower composition with... celery in it. I find it rather interesting, not lovely, but pretty cool!

This is more unisex in my opinion. Very nice & I agree a safe scent.

This perfume was a gift given to me in the early 2000’s. Back then I couldn’t quite work the fragrance out. At times I felt it smelt like tea with a citrus note of perhaps lime and lemon and other times I felt as if I was smelling an old boot. I had the big bottle of the stuff and I still am not sure what to think of it. It’s an odd fragrance and certainly not the kind I would buy myself. Very strange perfume. Not quite sure what they were thinking when this was created.

I thought the negative reviews must be over exaggerated and blind bought this after a recommendation. I got a bottle for $20 so it wasn’t a huge failure. Unfortunately I’m finding myself not liking the way some lemon notes are working with my chemistry lately. This one is essentially a scrubber for me due to the lemon + woods combination in the dry down. I had the same issue with D&Gs Light Blue and Chloe’s Cedrus that I tried multiple times over the past few years. They all dry down to the same lemony wood scent that on my skin smells like mop water and makes me feel a bit sick. I used to bartend and work in restaurants and they often used strong smelly lemon cleaners and mop water solvents to disinfect everything after closing. My chemistry just makes these perfumes smell like I got soaked in these cleaners after scrubbing the restaurant. I wasn’t as bothered by the opening of Eau Torride. It seemed ok and I figured I needed to give it more time. But then I started to notice the drydown and sat with it for hours before caving in and washing it off. I agree with the other reviewers that there’s something about the scent combination that makes me feel actually nauseous. I’ve never had this reaction to any scent besides this one, Light Blue, and Cedrus. I’ve smelled some stinky indolic pissy butt-musky perfumes in the past, but they never made me feel actually nauseous. And frankly, I don’t understand why lemon and wood would do this, as I consume lemon, use lemon cleaners, love lemon, and love some perfumes that have lemon sandalwood combinations. My home is made from wood, I smell many woods all the time. Nothing about Torride smells sour or revolting. It just physically makes me feel sick. So weird.

04. october 2012 I agree that this fragrance can be worn by men as well, though it is still more on th feminine side of unisex fragrances than "CK one" or Bulgari ́s "White tea" for example, which are more on a masculine side of unisex. Personally i don ́t like this kind of scent, it is too bland and shallow for me. Bitter bamboo with sharp citrus note is a combination that turns me off. I tried many times during the summer to like it and i couldn ́t, it didn ́t work for me during springtime as well. The concept of the bottle is a fire that melts the ice (take a look at the bottle ́s lid) but i don ́t feel any fire while wearing this fragrance, it is really more icy and doesn ́t get warmer. Peach note is synthetic and doesn ́t adds any warmth here at all. Dissapointment from Givenchy this time. Poor lasting power and sillage left to be desired for more. Had to get rid of it. Please do not remove this comment, since others might find it useful. Not every review should be positive, so people like me wanted to make a blind buy might find it very informative. Thanks.

This was a blind buy that ended up being very disappointing :(...After reading all the reviews on here, I thought that it would be a unique fragrance that I just had to try before it was virtually impossible to find it (seeing as it's discontinued), and now I wish I hadn't bothered!!!! I can't begin to comprehend why Givenchy would ever create something so phew-ish??? On my skin it smells like ferns, celery and a tad bit of black pepper mixed with vanilla. It's a really green creamy kind of scent on my skin and it's quite off putting! There is nothing sharp, crisp, fresh or inviting about this scent at all! I don't know if this has sth to do with the weather, seeing as it's -3C today...I don't know. I'll try this again in summer and if sth changes, I'll post an update, but I'm not holding my breath and neither should you! :/

I wanted this scent so bad! My mom used to have it around 2004 and I liked it then. Thought it smelled mysterious and I loved the bottle. I finally managed to buy a bottle from ebay and now that I'm using it I realize I don't like it so much. It gives me nausea and headache. My taste has changed or I was just craving for something I didn't test out long enough? Surely both. I'm not going to give it away because of the beautiful bottle, I'll use it up in the office, but I really can't wait to be out!

Newly received a 50ml bottle. Not my cup of tea however. It reminds me of Elizabeth Arden's Black Tea and Infusion Woman of Iceberg.A hard citrus with no sweetness, fememinity.Just bitterness and light sour. The big let down about this perfume is it fails to develop into any nice dry down. Sorry, can't fall in love with this. I don't expect Givenchy could make such style.

I think that this is the worst an the weirdest Givenchy perfume ever. All you can smell is citrus. You can have the same effect if you make lemonade and spray yourself with it. I smell no flowers and especially no sandalwood. It was discontinued and with the good reason. Not quite sure why they started producing it again... The bottle is pretty cute, though :-)

I just can't stand the black elder note. Unfortunately, it is very noticeable for me in this fragrance. Also this fragrance reminds me a dried apricots scent. I would definitely like it more without black elder, I don't like it only because of it.

This really reminds me of Elizabeth Arden Spiced Green Tea. What I thought was a Tea note was actually a bamboo note. In other words there is a kind of bitterness among the freshness that makes this an ideal unisex scent.

I usually love citrus fragrances, but this one smells so spicy! I'm surprised there's no hot pepper in it! I don't find it fresh at all. The bottle is nice though.

When I first bought it, I liked it! But, a few days later it began to make me really ill. Headaches and nausea, the works. I gave it to my friend's mom.

I can't recall how I got this fragrance. Maybe it was a gift. One of my worst perfumes. Smells like green plants and whole peppercorns. That's it.

Very rarely do I quite soo strongly dislike a perfume.. but I didn’t like this. Not one bit. It was musty, fruity, bitter and weird... Eau Horride!

Eau Torride - I wanted it for a very long time until I managed to buy it, it is clear to me that the seller did not like Eau Torride. Yes, you have to get used to Eau Torride, at first it was strange to my nose and it still is. I am not surprised that many did not accept her as their own and do not like her. It is a hidden gem and a masterpiece of mixing ingredients. It stands out especially in heat. It does not show its qualities in the cold. Even the fruit components, peach, citrus, which often bother me, are here combined with jasmine and wood in a beautiful symphony.

this one is reminds me A LOT of Fragile, Jean Paul Gaultier. Both discontinued. It starts quite spicy, but evolves to a peachy scent, and it stays like that - very delicate- until it wears out. I think it has a unique fragrance, but not popular nowadays, where the juicy and sweet ones amaze everyone... to me there's nothing unissex about this one, on my skin it is very feminine. soft silage, lasting about 5 h. a good fragrance, different scent, makes me feel very summery... But I would suggest you to try before buying, if you can find one.

If not mistaken this would be very spicy and a bit choking for me,it's a gift from my friend as she say she dont't like the smell,i tried wear it to workplace and end up stuck in my table whole day,because my collegue says it was an awful smell and some of them laugh at me,no second time.Tried to use as a home deodorant but just can't stand the smell.6 years pass and it still at my dresser shelf untouch.Keeping it as a memorial for my beloved friend no more than that.

This one is my 'weirdest' perfume, it took me a while to appreciate it, but I do crave it now from time to time. It has this dry and bitter quality that I actually find therapeutic at times, when I become overwhelmed with sweet gourmands and heady florals,I really enjoy a break with this one. It has an impressive performance as well, I spray it before bed and I can still smell it in the morning. And it reminds of Guerlain Aqua Allegoria Foliflora.

I fell in love with this one few years ago, and finaly bought it. Recently it is my favourite everyday frag. I know it is not the best fragrance ever, but I like it a lot. It gives me the feeling of freshness, it makes me feel comfy. Perfect for work. I know it lasts very long, but it blends with my skin so perfectly, that after few hours I don't know if this is eau Torride or me.

Today ET its very expensive from allegro. I have my bottle 50ml, for me truly briliant. Longlasting is very god, silage is ok. This scent for me is perfect for any ocassion. I love beauty Eau Torride forever!

I used to have this scent, it was very lovely and fresh. The prominent notes are: bamboo, citrus, woody notes. I also feel like this has some tea note too. Loved it so much, wish Givenchy kept this scent.

I experience the same problem with citrus/cedar combinations that wondervalley666 describes below. D&G Light Blue also makes me feel sick, even though it doesn't smell bad. Pass.

I had this perfume in 2004, and I remember that it smelled weird but I liked it. It is one of a few perfumes that did not give me headaches.

I tested it sometime ago and it reminded my very much of Burberry Week end but in more subtle way...

This mixed The One and Cool Water. Very elegant and very long lasting.Only for women!
