Gentleman Society Sport

I'm 43... I think... I can't remember, but that just proves I'm middle aged and I absolutely love this fragrance! This DNA is beautiful. It reminds me of multiple fragrances, but it's unique enough that it isn't redundant in my collection. Here's an itemized list of points because it's what us middle-aged people do so we don't lose our train of thought: 1) The first time I tested this, I got a noseful of pepper. Not spicy, but very green, almost herbaceous and crisp pepper. It's subtle enough that I don't notice it anymore, but combined with the rindy lemon up front and it's a very photorealistic opening that's not at all aligned with most "modern fragrances" from my designers. It's different, but reminds me of the opening to Gris Charnel and even a bit of Xerjoff's Golden Green. It's super green and crisp. 2) As it dries down, I get a few hints of earlier Givenchy fragrances that I love and I believe that's where some of the mentions in the "reminds me of" section are coming from. Most notably, there's a hint of iris or smoothness that's reminiscent of Gentleman Intense (which is a lot like Gris Charnel and Homme 2020). There's also something similar to Gentlemen Only which is one of my all-time favorite fragrances for spring. If you've never put your nose on that one, do it while you can - it's a very underappreciated classic and, in my completely subjective viewpoint, a must have for anyone who considers themselves terrible with money... I mean a "fragrance collector"... 3) Is it me, or is there a hint of coconut in the dry down? It's not loud or super sweet, but it's a really "green", photorealistic sort of coconut - almost adding the same quality the coconut in Issey Miyake's Fusion Extreme adds to that very different aquatic DNA. It's not sunscreen-forward or artificial in any way - it's just this added hint of something "beachy" that makes me feel like it's summer everywhere within 3 feet of me and maybe it's the weather and time of year, but it puts me in a good mood 🏖️🌴🥥. Again, don't interpret this as a comparison to JPG Le Beau, Mancera Holiday, or Creed VIW; but it evokes memories of a place and it's nearly tropical whatever it is. 4. This is long. Sorry. The gist: who cares if I like it or if you hate it? Honestly, this is going to be a staple in my rotation this spring and summer and it was totally unexpected. It's also a relief to buy something new that doesn't turn out to be a near perfect clone of something else I own the minute I get home and can make comparisons. This is just really, really good perfumery that isn't trying to be anything else or follow trends. I've said it before and I'll be saying for as long as it's true: Givenchy is the best Designer House for men's fragrances overall. If you average my subjective rating per release, I'm nearly always impressed with each with the floor being much higher than most houses. That's just me though. You do you and wear whatever you like - it's all just dollars we've earned burning holes in our pockets so we can get a bit of dopamine with each sniff and purchase anyway. Isn't that why we get a little good feeling every time we move a fragrance from "I want" to "I have" in our fragrantica wardrobe?

A floral fragrance for men than is done to perfection. Classy yet not to serious nor stoic. Very polished and clean aura that fits the bill of a well groomed gentleman. The floral accord gives it a slight creamy and light wax feel to it but, doesn’t stay very long the waxy vibe detail that is. It gives the overall impression of a nice crisp morning breeze coming through an open bedroom window that has a bed of flowers just outside at the base of the window with a nice wooded tree line of Maples or Oaks just off into the foreground as you throw on fresh clean linen sheets. It’s airy, creamy, green yet there’s depth that’s just enough to ground it in a clean and masculine vibe without going overboard. It just feels balanced from start to finish. Maybe a bit abrasive at the very start within the first couple of minutes of initial spray but, the facets of the scent aromas come together beautifully and settles into a casual yet sophisticated composition. Simply a very vibrant and masculine clean scent that would work perfectly year round and would fit proper in a professional office setting or board room. A classy yet modern interpretation of clean manliness. I have the OG Givenchy Gentleman Cologne and this follows slightly in the clean aspect but, the citrus & florals really are more prominent in Society Sport and it has much better performance overall over the Gentleman Cologne. If you have never owned the Cologne which only has a more pronounced Iris accord yet is light & clean, this one is a very worthy replacement that is better in composition and overall quality of fragrance. One other thing, this is for men and men alone. If you’re a teeny bopper who likes maple syrup & cinnabon infused sweetened gourmand kitchen spices, stay away from this juice. This juice will not conform to those that need to affirm or grade masculinity or femininity on a whimsical spectrum of social creation. That shit is tiring. Either smell like a man or smell like a woman. Plain & simple people. No gray area in my book. I can hear & feel the groans & gasps already...... Winner here by Givenchy. All class and all Man.

I just received this in the mail to review...I'm not sure if it's available on the market to purchase just yet. TOP NOTES: Citrus Quartet/Lavender HEART NOTES: Daffodil/Vetiver BOTTOM NOTES: Cedarwood/Vanilla (So, I've just recently sprayed this on my wrist...so I will have to report back regarding longevity.) The initial spray is actually quite smooth and somewhat creamy. The added lavender in the opening gives it an "old school" sport vibe... which I enjoy (I'm 46 years old). But, this is not what one would call an "old man" vibe, but more of a classic vibe that can be worn by any age demographic. The initial projection is actually quite subtle, which is not necessarily a bad thing. I get the impression that this fragrance was not meant to be a loud beast, but more of a fresh, refined and woody hug that lingers on throughout the day. (Again, I will report later regarding longevity). I think this is an extremely safe fragrance that can be worn in numerous environments, from daily office wear to a night out and also formal wear. It's fun and sporty, but also masculine and refined. I can wear this throughout all seasons, but I think it would make a fantastic Spring and Summer fragrance...especially in the evenings. Has anyone else got their nose on this yet? I'd like to hear others thoughts! For my nose, this 2026 release is a success. It's truly pays homage to those late '90s fresh, creamy and woody fragrances that defined the industry during that era. Thanks for reading!

Absolutely LOVE this flanker. Love. Very green. Significantly more green than most of the reviews I've seen have alluded to. And thank goodness. This is a breath of fresh designer air to me. Off the top I get an iris. No, it isn't listed, but I'm pretty sure it is there. I get very little florals, but a decent dose of lemon. Then comes the wall of green..... Once it transitions to the mid, and base, all I get is bitter greens (leaves and stems) and a touch of woody vetiver. But mostly greens. I get *zero* vanilla, and *zero* lavender. If they are in there, they're well hidden (thankfully). I love this. Love. Well, everything but the retail price. Still bought a bottle anyway. And I'll pick up another when it hits discounters. I feel as though the 'Sport' nomenclature is misleading, or at least misused for this particular flanker. I wouldn't consider anything about this to be particularly 'sporty' unless we are conflating 'warm weather' with 'sport'. It is more of a Spring and summer leaning blend, but I have been wearing it in temps around freezing and it still seems to do pretty well. I love that this isn't like its predecessors. Nice to have something that strays a bit further from the other somewhat redundant flankers....

I don't understand why this fragrance is so hated. It's quite nice and unique. Many brand-new fragrances play it safe—they smell good but end up boring. This one isn't like that at all. It has a real difference. Honestly, I really like the Gentleman line. I'm not a fan of the Society line, except for this one. Society Original, Extreme, and Ambre all have that weird powdery smell I don't enjoy. But Society Sport doesn't have that powdery note. It actually feels more similar to Gentleman EDT Intense, which is probably why I like it so much. It opens with a blast of sweet lemon and spice. Some people might hate the spicy part, but I don't think it's that strong—just about the same level as Issey Miyake L'Eau d'Issey. It reminds me of lemon vetiver. After a few minutes, a floral iris note comes through. It feels like clean iris soap mixed with sweet lemon juice—really well balanced. It's not linear at all. It has that complex depth you usually find in expensive fragrances. It definitely doesn't deserve to be rated under 4.0, and it's much stronger than most normal citrus fragrances. —I really enjoy this one. 8.5/10"
