L'Interdit Angélique Rouge

I don't often buy fragrances based on others' reviews, but after reading the review below by @scensitive, I caught the "vision" for this scent and, given how tasteful I find many Givenchy's women's fragrances, it was an easy blind buy. I was not disappointed. While it retains recognizable relatedness to other fragrances from the L'Interdit line, Angelique Rouge establishes its own identity with exceptional charisma and irresistible vibe. It is versatile, appropriate for serious and unserious occasions alike, but acts like a shield to keep any of it from weighing you down. It's a fragrance that makes me feel like living my life, not simply reflecting on it. If I was a signature scent kind of person, I could see myself choosing this. It's just that likable.

The entire Givenchy L'Interdit line always smells so beautiful. Something like a "big sister" with a cherry red sports car and boyfriends would wear before pushing her way through the only bathroom in the family house and flipping you off as she exits after 8:30 (ur bedtime) to do all those important things busy high-schoolers did in the 80s. The Angelique flanker dries down to a lookout under the Hollywood sign. Under a cherry moon. Close to the stars. Intense connections over 8-tracks and fags with wild grasses bristling on chrome rims right outside the car door. Aqua-net up top, cherry lipgloss, waxy, a natural tan, and a really weak skunk roach of Haitian Vetiver. Lasts 8-10 hours with authentique appeal.

I felt so confident, opulent and mysterious wearing Angélique Rouge. On my skin, the opening was a deeply seductive herbal accord; I detected fennel, liquorice, star anise and tonka, even the SA was pleasantly surprised. As the creamy tuberose unfolded, the vetiver became more present; however, it wasn’t as pronounced and fresh as in Narcissus Blanc. While there are green facets to this vibrant bouquet, the composition as a whole feels quite warm on my skin because of patchouli, and therefore I prefer to wear it on colder days. Projection and longevity are astounding. I beg you to try all iterations of L’interdit on skin rather than on paper. They’re just so much more sensual on skin, I promise.

Another flanker from Givenchy that i was super interested in trying, an intriguing composition with angelica in the heart notes .... It was a blind buy, and I’m happy to say it turned out to be a good one. This version feels like a fresher and if i may say a herbal twist on the original, thanks to the unique blend ... It adds an airy sharpness that lifts the composition and keeps it from feeling too heavy. Unlike the original, which leans into that strong bubblegum sweetness that I wasn’t a fan of ..... The vetiver has a strong presence that combined with the angelica, gives to the scent an airy, sophisticated touch of a morning light through the tops of a forest. The DNA of the og is preserved by the combo of white flowers and patchouli, but the refreshing deep musky aromatic hint is what justifies the new issue. Maybe it could be the only one because it's better than the og, less "oily" and bitter, more angelic, sweet and refreshing but still intense. Longevity wins with a super resistance: after a night it still is very potent.

I find Angélique Rouge has more sillage than the other flankers, with a warmth to it... maybe from the ginger. It stands out from the rest of the line. Everytime I wear it, it makes me feel warm, calm, confident, sexy and 'alive'. Honestly, I love it! Maybe it’s because I like ginger. 😃 I think it leans unisex and would smell sexy on a man. So far, it’s my top favourite, followed by Tubereuse Noire. I’ve never owned a backup bottle before, but for these two, I’d definitely get one. 😂

A very successful blind buy for me, I absolutely *love* this flanker! Some of sweetness of the og replaced with more of an herbal warmth that is so present but still gentle and soft. Not a medicinal herbal at all, just natural and mildly sweet. Two light sprays and I was set for the day ~ so glad I took the chance on this one.

I just got this three days ago, and I was so rocked by how lovely it was, I immediately bought three more bottles since it is a limited edition and I need this fragrance in my life! I can also smell it throughout the day. I tend to acclimate fast to scents, but this one lingers beautifully.

Very flowery, white flowers, soft, feminine, creamy, Gucci Bloom but more intense. Love it for casual day time but also fits to many occasions!

A strong like. The white flowers bouquet of the classic is indeed enhanced by the more herbal angelica which makes me sniff my wrist all the time. It is a refreshing addiction. Other than that it is just like the classic. Less bubble-gummy, deeper and a bit more complex. A timeless beauty, fit for all ages (though maybe not for the juvenile) and any occasion. Fit to be the only bottle in your collection. On a rainy spring day it is like a magical potion. My sample states it is a limited edition. I used it on 5 sillage points and it is lovely, not too strong, just right, I feel good in it -surrounded by a sufficient aura. It stays true to the opening notes during wear, which in this case is a good thing. Lasts well, 8hours on me already. Sillage is rather intimate, when shopping I did not feel it on myself.

I finally had the chance to experience this limited edition. What strikes me first is a veil of sweet white florals, lifted by a fresh green undertone that seems to come from angelica. Yet its usual signature is absent here - the green nuance feels vague, almost anonymous. There’s no bitterness at all, so those who usually shy away from angelica’s sharper edge can rest reassured. Overall, it’s a pleasant and easy-to-wear creation, but far too conventional. It doesn’t stand out from the countless fresh, green white florals already out there - there’s no intrigue, no surprise, no real “wow” factor. Still, it is undeniably well done: I actually find it far more appealing than the original, though it doesn’t quite measure up to some of the other flankers.

@Sweetfrag098 : There is indeed ginger in this perfume. It's not present in the official pyramid but Givenchy talks about it in the text presenting the perfume : FR : "Cette interprétation audacieuse de la fleur est sublimée par les notes enivrantes d'une Figue de Barbarie pulpeuse auxquelles se mêlent les facettes épicées du Gingembre". EN Translation : "This bold interpretation of the flower is enhanced by the intoxicating notes of a luscious Prickly Pear mixed with the spicy facets of Ginger".

Dry medicinal herbs and creamy tuberose. The bitterness of the herbs and pachouli neutralizes the sweetness of the white flowers. This scent is well-balanced and mysterious. Compared to other flankers, it is much less sweet and more unisex. My favourite among the L'Interdit line.

The generous amount of angelica and vetiver gives it a sweet, green, and pleasant scent. It's a very unique flanker that's well worth owning.

I don't know how Angelica smells like so I can just say that it has unmistakenly the L'Interdit DNA but it is less sweet and has a slightly green feel to it. Was it necessary to bring out another flanker if the difference is so small between the various versions? Probably only for die-hard fans of the line...Lovely bottle, though.

A greenish tuberosey type of fresh bouquet scent along the lines of Quatro Pizzi. If you have anything vaguely resembling that one you probably don't need this. Don't know the time of year this was released but it feels most appropriate for Spring/Summer. I prefer the OG, the Rouge Ultime and the Intense versions.

Very cheap and common smell. I think Givenchy should have paid me to smell it instead of me buying this. It smells like a grandma wardrobe and I say this because my grandma wardrobe smelled like this. It is not worth the money, you can buy any soup and you get better smell. I'm really disappointed and I still don't hate anyone enough to give it to them. I need to throw it straight in the bin

This perfume is so reminiscent of the 80’s and 90’s bangers to me. It is STRONG. It’s the posh Aunt drinking bourbon by the fireplace at the ski resort. Definitely can smell the L’interdit Rouge DNA. The fragrance is still going and I sprayed it on my wrist 3 hours ago. The prickly pear and Angelica are deep and delicious. If you’re a fan of the stronger old school aromatic fragrances you will love this. It doesn’t do it for me, it is not unique at all except for the beautiful opening. It smells so much like everything else on the market. Rouge, Intense and Absolu are the standouts in the L’interdit family.
