L'Interdit Edition Couture 2020

This is not the same as the original L'Interdit. Let me tell you why. L’Interdit Eau De Parfum : EDP L’Interdit Édition Couture 2020: 2020 EDP opens like a wild strawberry and strong bergamot. 2020 opens with strong pear, light bergamot. It does not have the initial “screeching” I sometimes perceive with EDP but the EDP has a stronger opening. And here is my sore point: EDP has much more tuberose, she’s the queen of the composition. In 2020, the orange blossom is more prominent than the tuberose. Bummer. Now, I bought this perfume precisely for its tuberose and I have to tell you I felt disappointed and betrayed. As a dramatic person I thought about selling the Édition Couture 2020 version and buying the EDP...until the drydown. This is why I tell you I need to be patient. The dry-down (after 1 and a half hour) is where the 2020 version shines. The dry-down is identical on the two. Even the 2020 has the tuberose as the main note. The 2020 version is much stronger and lasts longer. Even my boyfriend agreed the 2020 version is stronger. So which to pick? If you want strong tuberose from start to finish, get the EDP. If you want the strongest performance get the 2020.

Despite the notes here seem to be the same ones of the original L’interdit EDP, I am positive that this L’interdit Edition Couture 2020 has a little different (and better) smell. I have applied both in my arms to compare, and I feel that Edition Couture 2020 is a softer and sweeter version. I can smell more orange blossom than tuberose and jasmine, and it happens to be just the opposite in the original EDP, which has a stronger woody-floral smell that sometimes reminds of incense (though it isn’t described among the notes). Edition Couture 2020 is very close to Elie Saab Le Parfum, but with a sweeter and fruitier bubblegum vibe. I love it! Very elegant and sexy at the same time. It has good longevity and good projection.

Oh, my Dark Flower 😈😈 how I adore you. A chypre floral at it's best. No wonder it was made for Audrey Hepburn. She was an amazing lady. Beautiful, elegant and kind. What a perfect homage to her L'Interdit is, and I'm not surprised she wanted to keep this gem all to herself. I do too! But I'm glad Givenchy over-ruled her and released it for sale. The combination of tuberose and Patchouli is mesmerising. The bottle is also gorgeous! Long lasting longevity. Moderate to strong silage. Can be worn by any gender and people will find it very sexy and appealing which is a bonus for anyone, be they a he/she/they or them. I will have a bottle of this until the day I die. The end.

On the Givenchy site this version is the original edp in a new collector's bottle, which I loved and that's why bought. As it was released 2020 (2 years later than original) I find little differences too: it isn't so sweet anymore, has less of the pungent start of the original, I smell the pear in opening, way more jasmine and tuberose, in this order, and more vetiver in dry-down too. I needn't say I love it!

So, I tried every other version of L'Interdit and ended up buying the only one I've never smelled! This is beautiful, the opening is strong but not as much as on the regular EDP or Rouge. Very floral and light vanilla with a hint of patchouli on the dry down. Works better on colder days but it's not winter exclusive. Performance is great but I wish the sillage was bigger (will overspray next time hahah)
