Folie d’Aix 1924

I am sad to say that, while Folie d'Aix opens with such promise, beaming with a green garden floral radiance amongst conifers, it takes a sharp turn. The problem here lies in the usage of heavy, stifling woody amber materials that suffocate the beauty of the first thirty minutes. It honestly is one of the more tragic compositions I smelled as of late. This could have been so much better had Sonia Godet chosen a different path for its development.

I just got this fragrance yesterday with indeed a beautiful handwritten note and some gorgeous packaging. For me, this was exactly what I was looking for. I wanted to have a perfume that would capture the fragrance and fullness of spring and this one does that. It is a very green fragrance with rosemary and citrus in the opening but then magically transforms as it takes you on a walk through a flower garden. The drydown is sumptuous with the olive wood which gives it a creamy, unctuous touch with flowers around. The performance is quite high and intense, the longevity was quite good, I would say I got about 8 to 9 hours out of it, which honestly is good because this isn't the kind of fragrance that I would want lasting long into the evening as it is very much a sunny, daytime kind of scent that awakens the senses. I am so excited to discover more perfumes from this fantastic house that genuinely seems to think about the whole experience of their customers. Cannot recommend it enough!

Came in a lovely package with handwritten personal note from Sonia Godet. Opening is crisp, fresh, almost pungent, seriously green. The rosemary is very present, and it’s very herby. It mellows a bit as it dries down and the florals come into play, with a hint of powder, and very subtle sweetness, slightly woody. Lovely composition. The rather extreme crispness mellows, yet the freshness stays put and is constant. Could be unisex but leans toward feminine on my skin. Perfect for spring, a really hot day, or even deep winter. It is exactly what I was looking for. Beautiful.

This is quite green. It smells like I'm walking through an enchanted forest with wisteria at my feet and green vines hanging by my face. As it dries down you can smell more of the powdery florals. If you like you like green scents, you'll love this. It's very *pretty*.
