Grand Tour

Revisiting my Goest samples, and wearing Grand Tour today. I have to say this one fits the notes in a pretty one-to-one ratio. It smells like spicy herbs (although I get more patchouli than basil?) and oakmoss with a little bit of leather underneath. Spicy and herbal, but not necessarily green, and not necessarily incense either (no 'eau de headshop' here). The card that comes with it says "vigorous, adventuresome, and neat." I'll give it neatness, and maybe some vigor inside the herbal spice accord, but adventuresome...? That one might be a bit of a stretch. All in all, it's pleasant and likable, but I don't find it necessarily that creative or memorable. If you like spices, you might want to check this one out, otherwise, it seems like a safe and ultimately familiar scent I'll have to pass on.

Im not sure why this is but the sample pack Goest sent gave me a spray vial of this with it barely 1/4th full. The nozzle was slightly sticky and coincidentally the zip pouch smelled strongly of something so I’m not sure if it spilled and evaporated or it just wasn’t filled properly. It’s a shame because it’s a sweet herbal mossy leather scent that’s rather nice. It’s not a foreign scent , I’ve smelled similar before but I enjoy it regardless.

Grand Tour is a dynamic scent that opens with leather and sweat, and expands into a spring day. While not overtly floral, there is a sweetness in its citrus/herbal top notes that evokes a feeling of bloom that is perfect for the season. Overall the scent is not for those who need to be defined by their perfume, yet rather define it for themselves. The hidden depth of the fragrance is how it combines with the scent of your body, and unlike many baroque/overloaded perfumes on the market there is room to incorporate your own elements depending on your mood- personally I combine it with a smoky petrichor or a swiss stone pine. Overall, only as creative as the wearer.
