A Song For The Rose Eau de Parfum

I am so, so lucky. I bought this for cheap. I was initially unimpressed, having sprayed it once only to perceive this as very basic watery potpourri that vanished fast. I wasted no time preparing listings on multiple platforms to sell the full bottle for the exact price paid or just below. However, not many seem familiar with this and the reviews deter much interest. It's no wonder pitching my bottle's tough other than for lopsided trade offers of downward value. But I wandered my neighborhood after a light rain yesterday and stopped to smell flowers all along. Lastly, I came to a glorious, bulging and glowing red rose close to home. I smelled it and swooned. My husband joined in. What a beautiful thing with her cold, velvety petals against the skin of our faces. Right away, I remembered this fragrance. I decided I'll test this properly once more. I'm so glad I did. First of all, the atomizer's impeccable. I can draw a long line of perfume down my entire forearm with one spray. I applied to both arms and around the front of my neck like a collar. 3 sprays total and it trails! Hm. Rosewater still? Wait, there's more... It's a dewy rose in a garden after the rain, surrounded by the cool shade of nearby trees before the sunshine emerges again. My partner walked through the length of our home and came to me, smelling the air while the corners of his mouth curled up as he does when he's happy. I told him I considered to sell this fragrance. He raised an eyebrow and questioned, "Are you sure?" We then sat together. We didn't bury our faces in it to try and 'understand' anything, nor did he respond as usual with, "it's nice." The response for both of us was tranquil enjoyment. This scent's Beauty in Tranquility. What's more than that is, I'd recently bought 'A Midnight Stroll' for him to honor his love for nighttime in nature by firelight; his place to reminisce and dream. But also, to honor his feline companion who's recently passed on. Her name was Midnight. The bottle's fittingly black like her, marked with florals, a wildcat, and a bow as green as her celestial eyes. A Song For The Rose, from the same Alchemist's collection, is Royal Blue, but a recollection for me of smelling roses and how their petals feel cool and softly graze and comfort the skin... Which, to me, has always reminded me of the softness of the delicate velvet ears of my cats who've passed on too, years ago, and I miss them daily. They were Pan & Dodoria. I've often kissed roses to feel them again and spiritually send them my love. 🖤 The song for my rose, my Pan, was 'You Are My Sunshine.' Dodoria, her sister, was closest with my husband and they had their songs too. Both of us have a bottle to bring us back to lost loves through dreams, memories and nature. Anyway... Today's a mild day in mid-June, not hot nor cold, but just right. The sun's shining, the atmosphere's calm, and this scent's just blossoming. Yes, it's simple. There's nothing complicated here, but it's not simply rosewater potpourri to my nose anymore. It's the cool tranquility that I need in a turbulent time. Precisely. Uncomplicated, like the healing presence of a beloved pet, or the quiet admiration of a magical flower that stands alone. My spouse sits nearby and can't smell it anymore, but I can with no trouble at all. It's surrounding just me. Clearly. I'm so happy and so relieved that I gave this a chance and found every reason to cherish A Song For The Rose. 💙🌹🐾 And It figures that someone's just offered to buy my perfume while I write this review. Phew, that was close. Absolutely no sale.

Gorgeous perfume that has become THE reference rose I compare all others to. This feels to me like a lemon-y Bulgarian rose, light and effervescent like delicious lemonade, yet rich and velvety (though I have heard Rose de Mai [rose centifolia] smells similarly citrus-y and bright). It's fascinating how the rose presents contrasting light and dark facets to the beholder, yet it feels like a singular coherent note. A multi-dimensional rose. It's been extremely hard to find another rose that could even hold a candle to this one. Super-refreshing scent that has become my default warm weather scent, beating out citrus perfumes I own. The tragedy is that the rose only lasts for 2 hours. After, it feels like the scent has dissipated, though the underlying sweet musk wafts in and out of view to remind you that it's still there. Another big draw for me is that the Gucci Alchemist bottles have the best atomiser I own. You can apply the same pressure throughout the whole pull, whether it's a light, half or full press, and it produces the finest mist the whole way through. LV bottles have a similar action.

I expected a light airy rose from its name (don't know why but that's my first impression) but it is exactly the opposite. It is a strong, dark, rich, feminine rose that is as red as blood and bloom at the night. It is seductive but dangerous. If you touch it, you will be hurt by its spikes. It is a queen's rose, for it is powerful and dominant. When I had my first sniff, Bulgarian rose surrounded me and it is its stage. Some woody notes, mainly oud I believe, created a dark atmosphere, adding richness and depth to the rose scent. I cannot smell any musk though. Its longevity and silage are superb, maybe even a bit too much. This is a scent for mature women who are powerful, confident, and ambitious. Absolutely not for young girls. I would add it into my collection for its gorgeous bottle if its price tag were not insanely high.

It smells like true old garden roses -- gallica, damask, alba, centifolia. It starts with a hit of scented leaf geranium (pelagorium), very much like the cultivar attar of rose -- this is where it is similar to Rose de Taif, which stays in that geranium space. A Song for the Rose moves into a more rose centered place, creamy, a bit waxy and powdery, like rose absolute. Musk and wood are there and help give it depth and a rose water vibe. Overall a wonderful rose that stands on its own for those that grow old garden roses and have a disdain for the mundane hybrid teas. Testers (with caps) are on Jomashop now for $150/ 100ml -- a steal considering Gucci wants over $400 for it.

Simple but effective realistic rose on a base of musk and wood. Very fresh and light. I like rose scents and I have tried a few. I bought a full bottle of this because it highlights the rose in a simple way without other notes like fruit, spices or oud dominating the rose, as most tend to do. Unapologetically rose (the name fits.) Not very strong or overpowering. Subtle. It is quite expensive for a simple rose but after trying so many it's actually hard to find a good quality simple rose. Versatile year-round.

What an excellent rose and woody scent and closest to perfect type of rose fragance ! The most luxuriant rose fragance I’ve ever smelled. One reason for that is the rose from Bulgarian rose valley has perfect conditions for growing Rosa Damascena which has an unsurpassed fragrance. On my skin....majestic rose, clean musk add amazing woody note until well blended. If you want to imagine how it smells, think about real rose and delicate lemon grass. I recommend you to try this masterpiece of Mr. Morillas.

I traveled from my remote location into the big city to smell the finest fragrances in the world! On the beautiful fragrance floor of Saks Fifth Avenue I finally got to smell a bunch of the alchemist garden perfumes. The whole Gucci scent boutique at this Saks is just a glorious fantasy place! This one was favorite. I was overcome! Alas, I cannot afford a bottle. Ah me, I wish one would appear on my doorstep. What is a lady to do!

Such a gentle and pure rose. Lasted throughout 5 hours flight on me. It's the ideal lady rose for me. Like others said the price is quite high and probably not worth the juice itself. I'm not a customer just paying to get a Gucci logo. I'll probably try Rose de Taif as it's so highly spoken of as a pure rose fragrance. However it's not likely but if I do come across A Song for Roses at a good price I'll grab one.

I love rose solitaire fragrances. Krigler 44 and derby rose aren’t even close to how incredible this beauty is. I am surprised at how much I adore it! To me, it’s pretty perfect. If you are looking for a pure rose scent and you’re willing to pay for it, this is definitely one to check out! I am beyond happy with it!

soft powdery pretty.. I bought it blind and fell in love.. although it does not last long and is more of a skin scent, it is so good. one of my favorites... bedtime fragrance or with your intimate partner..

A Song For The Rose Eau de Parfum Gucci (USD 80, batch 9080, 90 ml. left) I blind-brought this one. Long ago, like almost half a year ago. My confession, I brought this because of it is Gucci. Price was very good, and I think I was during anything with Rose era. A Song For The Rose Eau de Parfum Gucci is beautiful Rose-Solifore fragrance. Rose in this leans the Red Rose with Stem, adhere by Soft Musk. Nothing crazy or sharp. It is not strong in any regard and dry down to musk in a EDT timely manner. If I could give one takeaway, it would be regarding original selling price for USD 380. This is overcharge. In realm of Rose-Solifore. In this regards, you pay for the brand. Not the scent itself. If you are Gucci collector and I see the point of purchasing and the whole "The Alchemist's Garden" theology of possibility endless layering... This is somewhere between Rose de Taif & Rose de Mai from Perris Monte Carlo. which you can obtain a bottle for 165 Euro each. This is, not really innovative consider Rose de Taif releases 7 years period before arrival. If you found the great deal in internet, and look for Rose-Solifore, you could grab absolutely. But this one makes me question that being collector by brand name might not be a good idea at all. ==== Addendum 1 (Not sure so about date).. I have a session with my local perfumer, T. Kenji and he suggest that this one could possibly use up to 0.5% Bulgarian rose oil (the most expensive rose oil material) I think it might be true due to it balmy quality that linger. However, anyhow - the extension aroma chemical of rose fragrance, still remains similar for many year (PEA and etc.) so rose fragrance will have very minor tweak, otherwise - break bond and change it rose quality. To be honest, I can’t distinguish each natural rose oil quality apart being natural or Aroma chemical (as of now), if You can, it’s up to you. Still, my suggestion is rose de mai or rose de taif, I think the quality is good for a price. ===== Addendum 2 on November 16, 2024 This one still hang on in my archive, it think because the bottle looks really pretty. Kind of Rose-water bottle vibe and I think I am finally figure it out what is this fragrance try to be. "It is the nicest rose-water scent" in my humble opinion. The key of this fragrance lay under how the support element is build. Rose in this is fade fast.. but It is eventually merge into the bubbly soft pillow musk. Kind of ambretty, Kind of lite woody, Musky (Cashmeran) and lite aquatic property. It is really sprakling and shine. That strong metallic vibe or something remind you of Bug spray. I think it is Geranium. Or part of Rose Extract in this certain blend It is not really prominent when not smell up close. Compare to Rose de Taif, that one highlight Geranium even more. Provide Sharp Red Image of Rose for your mind. Rose de Taif / Rose de Mai is more rose centric.. than this I means that is highlighting the rose. but this.. act more like a musk fragrance than Rose de Taif or Rose de Mai. This is well blend because it is really smooth transit to light cloud of musk dance around you quite great amount of time (consider no strong aroma-chemical support). I think around 4-5 hours. Kindly of cleanliness, Aqua Allergoria message. I think.. This is well build than Aqua Allergoria compare by density of the scent. It has some mass when compare side-by-side. Well yeah.. maybe It times to let go all of my Allergoria.

What rises to the surface is the crystalline radiance of pure rose otto. Neither rich nor heavy. A fresh, light rose, where the contours of the petals are clearly visible. Overlaying this is the soft, luminous musk so characteristic of Mr Moriyasu. An elegance that melts into the skin yet never becomes indistinct. The sweetness is understated. Yet it is not cold. It possesses a crisp, clean freshness, like a rose bathed in the morning light. I want to wear it first thing in the morning, at a time when the day has not yet taken on any colour. Or perhaps during the season when the heat wears one down. Even on days when heavy scents feel burdensome, this rose seems to make breathing easier. A rose that does not make a flamboyant statement, but quietly maintains its beauty. Now I understand. This is not a ‘Woody Rose’, but the song of a rose bathed in light.

I didn’t care for it at first. I just bought it for the bottle (it’s to die for) Until i get the best compliment ever from a guy i secretly adore for years. He fell for it, he said i’m the best smelling girl he knows. Now that i try to love it more i start to wear it EVERYDAY. It begin to please me, it smells expensive, sexy without trying, and make me feel like a lady. A confidence booster. But then one day, i finally wear my other rose fragrances i’ve been loved before, and again, i find A Song For The Rose is just another basic rose fragrance on the market. You could be me or you could be my crush, otherwise it’s impossible to hate this.

The bottle is absolutely stunning and gives plenty of pleasure just from being on the dressing table. It reminds me of Maison Kurkdjian a la Rose which is a perfume I adore, but it is less green and more powdery with a hint of almost parma violet. This is a perfume that gets noticed. It smells very expensive and gets rounder with the warmth of your skin. I'm still deciding whether to replace my Maison with this as my go-to rose staple. Update: Although I love this, it really hasn't been worth £240 for me. I find it last 2 hours and then the scent is just a hint on the skin.

Charming, subtle and feminine rose blend. Mild is the name of the game. Smells like it would go nicely with a fresh shower, long dress and a long night out. This is what "A Chant for the Nymph" should have been. Not that one is redundant next to the other. Chant is bubblegum extract and Rose is...a rose. 🌹 Gets cleaner as it wears. Becomes remiscent of a spa treatment. This is the stuff scented bubble baths are made of. Not bad.

It’s a really beautiful rose but it just doesn’t last (on me at least anyway). Twice I’ve tried this now, as I really wanted it to work for me, but under 2 hours and it’s completely vanished. I’m usually partial to a high-end fragrance with an equivalently high price tag, but only if it’s justified - this is not.

The concept of “The Alchemist’s Garden” is quite clever. When people think of alchemists, they usually associate them with ideas like raw materials, transformation, and combination. These ideas overlap closely with how perfumes are created, so the concept initially raised high expectations for the series. However, based on the bottles I’ve tried, they feel rather conventional. Well-made, but not especially distinctive. This fragrance centers on Bulgarian rose within a floral woody musk structure. From the first spray, the most noticeable aspect is the natural freshness of the rose, almost watery in character. The rose itself feels full but not heavy. As the scent moves into the middle stage and the woody and musky notes appear, the rose becomes softer and develops a faint powdery or slightly “soapy” cleanliness. In the drydown, soft woods and musk dominate, and the rose becomes barely noticeable. For people who enjoy linear structures, it’s a solid rose fragrance. The issue is mainly the price point. At this level it inevitably gets compared with traditional niche houses or other rose, iris, and oud compositions that offer stronger value. The most common comment I see is essentially the same: beautiful bottle, pleasant scent, but not particularly good value for the price.

I agree with @AquaJima This could have been so lovely if it weren't for the woody notes! It's incredibly strong and it almost overpowers the rose note. On the plus side, it lasts for almost 9 hours on me with a strong sillage. Or really a negative in my case, now that I think of it. It doesn't smell like a natural rose at all and is a perfect example of the market being oversaturated with either spicy or woody notes. The only rose perfume that I have found so far to scratch my naturalistic rose itch is Eau Rose EDT by Diptyque. All the other rose perfumes I have smelled are just plain TERRIBLE! Portrait of a Lady and Une Rose by Frédéric Malle also come to my mind as bad.... I think I only bought this perfume over 2 years ago because of the stunning bottle and DESPERATELY wanting to find a rose perfume that I actually liked. But I don't suggest this one at all!

A Song for the Rose is a full deep red rose in a wood paneled room. Like Beauty and the Beast in the library of his mansion, where that rose is kept under the glass globe. This is not a light sunny woods, this is a dark, overgrown forest kind of woods. Definitely not the smooth, warm sandalwood scent, maybe some cedar, but I think it might be oud even though I'm not really familiar with oud. It sometimes can veer into bug-spray territory on me. I also get a kind of spicy vibe from it, though I can't put my finger on anything in particular. Overall it's darker and more masculine than perfumes that usually work on me, but I very much appreciate it - and I'm desperately sad I don't love it enough to justify buying that beautiful bottle.

I just received my decant of this one. I was intrigued by the scent but frankly. It's not a rose perfume at all. The main accord I am getting is lemon balm, not even lemon grass. No woodiness. The rose stands in the back and you have to search for it because the lemon balm is so dominant. I do not dislike lemon balm since we always had it and I enjoyed squeezing the leaves to have my hands smelling lemon balm. I can imagine that I will actually enjoy this fragrance in hot weather because of this lemon balm and the freshness it brings. Just not what I had expected by the name and the listed notes. Would I buy a full bottle? most likely not, will I still enjoy my decant? hopefully in summer this year!

To begin with, this is a nice rose fragrance. On my skin, it opens a bit citrusy, then straight rose and stay that way throughout its life on my skin. I dont get any woodiness at all. Now with the performance, this must be one of the worst i have in my collection, it just gone within two to three hours. While the sillage is moderate, this is way way way overprice. I would suggest Chloe Rosa Dasmacena instead, which i think smell really similar with much better performance. Dont bother with this one.

Review after 3 days of trying daily: "NOT A SAFE BLIND BUY" This works as unisex because opening is very realistic rose (with leaves, and thorns etc), not powdery and not sweet. Longevity: "SUCKS" Tried unscented lotion, lasts about 2 hours. Tried vasline, lasts about 3 hours This works if you want to feel good about yourself, not to get compliments from others. I now only spray this at night only after taking a shower...

on my skin, its simply a Bulgarian Rose Water. The sweet musk and woody note turned this into sumthg very jammy, damped rose - almost potpourri like at some point. Leave a rose bouquet inside a car under a hot day, that the smell im getting. If you wished to smell like rose, this is it. Unfortunately its not me.

It smelled lovely on the bottle, the perfect balance between rose and woody, but when I sprayed it on my skin, I get lemongrass. It actually reminded me of the insect repellant I have. Then the smell just disappears. I'll try to spray it on my shirt and see if there is a difference.

More expensive and stingy variation of Rose Turkia from Molinard with very weak longevity. The sent was gone within 2-3 hours in a sunny hot day.

This is like a metallic rose which does not smell good at all. I almost vomitted. I'm not sure if I'll ever get to like this one in the future

It is one amongst the many oud rose combos available in the market. Smells very similar to Montale Black Aoud. Almost like bug spray.

I was so bitterly disappointed with this fragrance. I was expecting a fresh rose, with a heady dose of woody notes. Instead all I get from this is Paul Smith Rose smacking me in the nostrils. If you like Paul Smith Rose, you might like this. It's not for me.

I recently embarked on a magical journey to Rose Valley in Morocco, where the air smells like you’ve walked into a giant rose petal. They distill pure Damascus Rose there, and I walked away with a roll-on bottle of pure Damascus Rose for a mere $15, which, surprise, surprise, smells identical to Gucci’s A Song for a Rose. That’s basically what Gucci A Song for a Rose is, a lovely, straightforward whiff of rosewater. If you’re expecting complex layers of mystery and intrigue, this one is not. It smells like a lush rose after a thunder storm with a price tag that's not easy on the wallet. If you’re looking to feel like a rose, or want to bask in the luxury of smelling like pure rosewater without robbing a bank, message me. I'm selling a tiny sample in a decant vial. My advice is, try before you buy A Song for a Rose. It is pure, but it is basically rose water.

I would like this fragrance to follow me around for eternity so I can associate this fragrance with my life. This to me is in the category of Musk Oud but head to head this just takes my breath away whereas I used to love Musk Oud until I smelled this, A Song For The Rose is just on another tier imo. This is the type of fragrance that bypasses your nose and goes straight into your heart, mine anyway. I'm not kidding, the first time I sprayed this my skin lit up with goosebumps (not because of allergens) and I felt a moment of euphoria. If I could marry a perfume, this would be her, no other perfume has ever made me salivate. Buy it, wear it, be content that your search for the most beautiful, elegant rose perfume has come to an end, you've finally found it.

I cannot resist any perfume with a rose name so A Song for a Rose was no exception but as lovely as the bottle is what lies inside is quite a puzzlement! At first spray I smelled utterly nothing at all which was very strange as it has only three notes and none to which I am anosmic! Hours later I suddenly got a whiff of what smelled just like a favorite of mine, Nirvana White! A spicy peony with musk. Seeing that so many smell all sorts of lovely notes and few seem to be a rose, perhaps it would be better called “Mysterious Melody”

If there would be a thing like a fragrance for soul then this would be it. It's charming, fresh, rosy and a dream fragrance. It's an enchanting scent in the air of the heaven and dewy bouquet of roses on earth. It captures the romantic allure of roses in a modern and sophisticated way. This fragrance speaks for itself! "I love it" is a small expression to describe my attraction for this fragrance but it demands me to spray it again and again as it vanishes off way too soon. Why on earth it has less staying power?

You are walking in a garden. You see a beautiful rose. Lean down to smell it. Ready? You take a sniff and all of a sudden somebody shows up behind you, hits you in the head with a humid piece of wood. While you are passed out of the ground, that person runs away with your wallet. That in a bottle.

Initially a great rose fragrance that leans feminine, but then you’ll realize that it just ends up smelling like Atelier Cologne Pacific Lime after it’s been on your skin for a while

This smells exactly like Johnson's baby shampoo. Edit: Got a full bottle and i must say this is the best clean rose you can get. Metalic, woody and a musky rose. Completely unisex.
