Gucci Bamboo Eau de Toilette

I have already written a review on this beautiful elegant perfume, it is a soft beautiful clean floral perfume with a non artificial powderiness that comes from the floral notes that makes it so classy, soft and magical. However, each time when reading reviews, I keep in mind one thing in particular: the year a perfume was made and when the reviews are posted.You see, it is a common practice of perfume houses to reformulate their perfumes and yet release them under the same name as if no changes were made.And it is never for the better, at least in my experience. So, back in 2016 when this was made, In went to try on a few perfumes in a big cosmetic mega store here in Greece, and it was this one that captured my attention.It smelled amazing on me throughout its stages, and the middle part, as well as the amazing drydown it was what captivated me and made me buy it. However, I hadn’t noticed that there were two different bamboo perfumes, one edt and one edp, so I ended up buying a set of the edp perfume with its lotion, instead of the edt I had tried on. And it was actually the saleswoman fault that didn’t clarify which one she had given me to sample or that there were two. So imagine my surprise when I got back home, and I excitedly tried it on again and was so...underwhelmed...What happened to the beautiful perfume I had tried on at the store?Why is this similar but different?Why had the amazing drydown never come?So, I looked it up back then on Fragrantica, and checked the notes that I had picked up on, and the reviews clarifying and realized the mistake... The next day I travelled the 1,5 hour car drive back to that store, explained what happened and got my beautiful edt perfume which was everything I had remembered it to be and more. My bottle from back then was of course of that first year it was released (2016), given that I didn’t want to use it all up(it was a 30ml bottle), but also because in all these years I grew my perfume collection significantly (I don’t want to keep wearing the same perfume each time) ,I still have it in my collection, and it is as beautiful and amazing as back then , maybe even more so, as I have noticed quite a few times with quality perfumes sold by reputable perfume houses. So now that it is spring here and my perfume cravings have grown,I revisited this little gem, my precious, and it feels like coming back home💕.So, I looked it up online and ordered another 30ml bottle of the edt as a backup, and given that it was difficult to find the edt available, probably this is being discontinued?-so I hoped with all my heart the one I would get now would be from an old batch, and not a recent reformulated version (the newest reviews on this here, made me certain this perfume has been reformulated).I even thought: wouldn’t it be great if I magically got the same exact batch code as my old one ?~mind you it’s 2023 , so we’re talking about a 7 year time difference pretty much...😆. So imagine my utter delight and surprise when I got my perfume delivered today and I checked right away the batch code on the bottom of the box,and compared it to the old one, and it was ...THE SAME.😳 I am so happy,words can’t describe, that I stocked up a bottle of the original formula. If you can, when looking this perfume up, check the batch code and if you are lucky and find a 2016 one,get it. If not, since I don’t know exactly when the reformulation on this was done,probably don’t bother. This one is a classy perfume ,soft but has a presence.It lingers, it has great sillage and lasts for quite a few hours (8 minimum). It is great in all weather conditions, it is all circumstances and hours appropriate, but where it shines even more, it is in drier weather (hot or cold), because it is then that it emits that magical natural floral powderiness.In more humid conditions it will bring out its more fresh floral aspect. This one, is a perfume as perfumes are supposed to be made, elegance and magic in a bottle ❤️

My accidental love Gucci Bamboo is called my ‘accidental love’ in my collection. It was a leaving present gift from a colleague 8 years ago. She made me open and spray it in front of her and was hit with a very sharp and detergent like opening that my nose disliked and I had to hide it with a smile and a ‘mmm lovely!’. It sat unloved in a drawer for 4 years and then my colleague joined my new team and the guilt kicked in. I thought I’ll wear it on her first day and maybe use it up at work until it’s done so I don’t have guilt. And surprised myself that when the bottle was done I just had to get myself another bottle. Most of my perfumes are unlike the others. So this one is a keeper for me, it’s lovely on my skin. There’s the obvious fresh, citrus opening from the bergamot, mandarin and orange blossom with a slight juicy floral round sweetness of pear, lily and jasmine. A powdery, very slightly spicy, musky dry down with the sandalwood and a very slightly spicy tease of ambergris with a layer of comfort from the vanilla in the base. I love this on my skin, I get delight from an almost sweet, milky, creaminess that must come from the ylang ylang that gives this lovely, subtle hint of honey every now and then when I move. I see this perfume described as a simple, uninteresting scent, and I know I’ve obviously developed a strong emotional memory to it, but to me it’s a classy, fresh with hidden complex gems that I just love and will always enjoy wearing this.

It is funny how we change over time. I find that I'm gravitating towards floral fragrances with hint of citrus notes especially for this summer. Gucci Bamboo EDT is a classy, modern white floral with a dash of citrus. I also get a bit of woodiness which smells like bamboo to me. I do enjoy it and find that it can be worn in most situations . I don't think its targeted towards very young people eg under 20s , you may need a little more maturity for this. However, I do not think this is vintage. I think its beautiful but it has average longevity. IMO, Its worth a sniff.

My dad got this for me at the airport before flying to Paris with me when I was 15, so I'll always associate this scent with him and that trip, and it was my signature scent for a couple of years. Somehow warmer and more inviting than other fresh perfumes but still very fresh, floral, so so elegant. I don't think I'll ever get tired of it despite having worn it so much as a teen. Lasts a good 6 hours on me, but sillage is low.

I love this and reach for it often. I usually stay away from fragrances containing ylang-ylang because it tends to dominate and can be cloying, but in this it is subtle and enhances the fragrance rather than taking over. It’s very fresh and long lasting. I would wear it in all but the hottest weather (UK).

This is a beautiful floral with a hint of something a bit unusual, and much nicer than the EDP which verges on a slight urine smell. Longevity is about 4 hours which isn't great for the price but I'm still intending to buy it as I can't stop thinking about it since spraying in the shop.

Just gorgeous. Yes, it's clean, but it's like freshly dry-cleaned silk satin, not like freshly dryer-sheeted cotton. It has just a hint of indolic earthiness in the white flowers, and a touch of freshwater like a koi pond where bamboo might grow. It's a whole mood. I absolutely love it!

Gucci Bamboo got me my very first compliment ever since I got more into collecting. From a collegue who doesn’t like me, haha. She bought it right after I told her. Now we both fill our mutual small office space with Gucci Bamboo. I hope our other collegue likes the scent 🫣

Fell in love with it at once. It's an amazingly fresh, lily perfume. Floral in a sharp mature way. Classy. Would be using this for a long time to come. Wonder if the EDP is stronger. may help with longevity as i use the EDT.

Smells like soap bubbles, white flowers. Its very clean. Could remind of a light mix of britney curious, D&G light blue and gucci guilty. Its a very unique smell

Super fresh and beautiful not very in your face. Had original and had dupes. Scent reserve have a good dupe that's more powerful

Well, I accidentally bought the EDT instead of the EDP. I have only tried the EDP once, but I definitely smelled that bit of soft creaminess and that it had a moderate lasting power. This EDT version is nice, clean and shampoo-like, but it's more crisp and lacking that bit of creaminess from the EDP. It's also very weak and doesn't last very long. I get about 2-3 hours and then it's gone. It's also IMPOSSIBLE to overspray! I'm gonna go through this 75 ml bottle in a record speed because I have to spray it all the time. I do kind of like this perfume, it's really easy and now offensive, great for work, summer days and other places where you would want to go easy on the perfume. I just think the price tag is a bit much for the actual performance on this perfume. Perhaps the EDP is a better choice than this one, I'm not sure. I will use this one up (won't take very long I imagine) at least, probably won't repurchase.

I noticed in the duty free shops while traveling this year that Gucci are really pushing Bamboo as their main women's frag, at least in the Nordic countries and NL. The EdP blurb states "The fragrance apparently reflects confidence and femininity. It is designed for modern women of character that is multifaceted; the fragrance is intense, graceful and gentle at the same time". Well, I don't get how how it's confident or intense, it's very inoffensive. A wallflower type scent, really. A "don't mind me, I just work here" type of perfume. It reminds me a bit of Versace Vanitas, which is another citrusy, effervescent white floral, difference being that the Versace is a bit arrogant and I find that to be a nice thing. EDIT: The drydown is somewhat enjoyable. Creamy jasmine comes through and really lifts it.

Perfect fragrance for those who want to smell clean and inoffensive. Not every fragrance has to be loud and announce you when you walk into the room, some fragrances just simply have to be just that, simple. And Bamboo EDT is a great example of that. There is a sour fruity note in the fragrance that actually works well in Bamboo, the fragrance is great as a signature scent, great for the office, great for everyday and great in workspaces where you can’t actually wear fragrance. If you wear fragrance simply because you love wearing fragrances and don’t care for compliments, Bamboo is great for you however, when you overspray, even though it is an EDT, it actually does last and projects very well, even better than the Eau are Parfum version! Very crowd pleasing and one to check out!

I love Gucci perfumes and Bamboo is my safe day to day choice. It is safe and still holds a character. I got many compliments when I wore it to the office or to night out friend meetings. A non-boring crowd pleaser. Changes after the first five minutes on my skin and loses the bergamot, remains a more flowery clean fragrance. I wear it every season in California, mostly as a day perfume. Though, I dont like the overnight smell on my cloths as much as I like some other clean perfumes. But still Bamboo is one of my favorites since it was released.

So beautiful! I really don't get the reviews stating that it's weak/watery or bad longevity. Bamboo EDT is really beautiful floral with a nice fizzy citrus opening. Stayed 18h on my wrist, no joke. Reminds me of Vanitas by Versace byt less cloying (tiare usually doesn't do it for me) I really recommend you to give it a fair chance, don't let negative reviews scare you off. Also, if the EDP is too thick/too much for you, try this one. A pleasant, clean, easy to wear, almost creamy floral with good sillage and longevity.

I accidentally purchased the edt rather than the edp. I honestly mainly wear an edp because I prefer a more intense fragrance. However, I ended up being very happy with this regardless!! It’s super pretty ! I love a white floral but this has its own identity. It’s not overly unique but it’s one of those scents that would be great for a signature scent! It’s perfect for any occasion and I can’t see anyone not liking it! I find it great for spring and summer! For an edt, I find it to have great projection and longevity!

At first it is very similar to EDP, just a bit lighter. However, after a while it starts to be weird. Very sultry, like all the freshness was gone. Moreover, nice blend of orange blossom and ylang-ylang that makes the heart of EDP, unfortunately is missing in this EDT. I mean it is just decent and nothing more. All in all, huge disappointment.

My youngest son bought this for me for Christmas with the hopes that I would enjoy it and I really do! It's fresh, clean, sophisticated and elegant. I feel very polished when wearing this. It's fruity, but definitely not overly sweet. It's a very classy professional woman with amazing hair and brand-new shoes! :)

Very nice. No one should expect it to be anything but weak, alhough Gucci... Bamboo is fresh, has depth. Must be beautiful in spring and summer. This fragance is so easy to wear, I like it for the same reason I like Max Mara fragrances. Right now in the mood for some warm, cozy scent, but this is stil appealling.

I have Milton Lloyd's Tatti which is supposed to be a dupe for Bamboo. It has that 80's /90's unisex vibe - the bamboo has a zen like smoothness and the florals lift it a little higher into a more feminine leaning scent. Great sillage and longevity.

This is a lovely fresh floral scent! I get a lot of citrus at the beginning and then it settles into a beautiful white floral bouquet. It's not overpowering, perfect for everyday wear.

I like it and it reminds me of lacost touch of pink

I didn’t like this at first. When i was younger my dad used to complain that my perfume was too strong. I was young and stinky and probably didn’t know better. He gifted me this to me when i was maybe 15/16. I wore it for a while, but was just meh to me. And i actually started to dislike it. Kind of sour, you’ve seen the cat pee comments. I gave it to my older sister. Now im 23, starting my corporate career. She moved out, took all her favorite fragrances, clothes, etc but left this in her room. So i guess she didn't love it either. As im getting dressed for my first day at new job, I’m looking at my collection but don’t see anything I can wear. I dont want to be loud, overly sensual, or offensive. I give this another try. I dont know why it works, but it’s perfect for that kind of setting. It is clean, but like an animal clean. You know how cats lick themselves. And it’s enough for them. And for you too or else you wouldn’t snuggle with them haha. It’s a safe and appropriate white floral + citrus, and actually quite youthful. Bamboo describes it very well. Its pungent at first like when you first chop some greens, and dries down to a nice citrus skin scent. Lets see how much of a dent I’ll put in her bottle!

This is a very light soft fragrance. Its like a lighter version of 212 by Carolina Herrera, you can definitely smell the similarity. At first spritz i get a lot of citrus then it dies down into a mild floral scent. It is a perfect fragrance for the office or for those who do not like overpowering smells. I might try the edp when i finish this bottle because this maybe is just too weak for me.

I’ve explained this to people the exact same way rebeccawilkins97 did. It really smells like the vague perfume smell I remember from samples in my mom’s magazines. Because of that, I guess it feels sort of nostalgic, and like it would be worn by the cool woman wearing business clothes and heels through NYC that I think of from those ads, not my favorite.

This fragrance heavily reminds me of the smell you get when looking through a catalogue. If you know the smell of an Argos catalogue, that's what this fragrance smells like to me. I hate using the term but this is a very "clean girl aesthetic" scent in my opinion. I wouldn't buy it again but It's okay enough to finish the bottle.

Too synthetic...nothing fresh and a bit overwhelming.....gives me Yves Saint Laurent "rive gauche" vibes! I will keep as my favorite from Gucci " Guilty stud limited edition".

It’s a nice scent but very weak

Was hoping for a clean, fresh and inoffensive scent for office. Neutral and professional. Like the beige of fragrances. This scent has some of those characteristics and pleasant accords, but unfortunately also a musty undertone resembling of sweat or urine which ruins it. I am quite sensitive to animalistic accords. They ruin many otherwise lovely fragrances. To my nose they smell like bad hygiene, or toilet. Later the scent developed softer and more pleasant, but still not as clean as I had hoped. No more sweat, but now there is an undertone of stale flower vase water. Got this perfume used, so not sure how it has been stored or if the fragrance has changed since opening. I sprayed some Pure Grace by Philosophy (a soap and water clean fragrance) on it. The result improved - actually the smell is now better than Pure Grace alone. But I'll most likely give both away anyway.

Oh no, they did the EDP wrong. All of the fresh creaminess is gone. You’re left with a watery citrusy, nondescript fragrance that smells substantially cheaper than its price. I really wanted to love it since the EDP is one of my favorite perfumes, skip this one and get the EDP.

Not impressive at all, just as I thought. Fresh, white flowers are on top of everything. Slushy in my opinion. Not nice and deep, the EDP was better. The EDP had the same slush, but it had some depth to it, this one doesn't have anything interesting at all. Boring.

The EDP is one of my all-time favorites, but I feel the EDT is a redundant release. For me it lacked all the good parts of the EDP (depth, creaminess and performance). I’ll stick with the EDP.

I love the citrus and florals but not the animalistic note - every time I get a perfume with animalistic notes it smells to me like an undertone of BO. Not for me.

Can't help, this smells like (not so nice) deoderant on me.

Oh my...where to begin... First of all let me say that I like this scent on its own (you know what I mean later on). It is so interesting because it combines freshness with white florals, making it perfect for every weather condition (even really hot weather). I love that its freshness doesn't come from green or woodsy notes,it doesn't come from aquatic notes either and it isn't over the top citrusy...it is as citrusy (nothing lemony) as it is needed to enhance and balance at the same time the white florals. So,yes...I really like it on its own...however... I absolutely love it combined with Versace's Crystal noir body lotion... and that is probably because these two perfumes have similar notes and are 'cousins' let's say... Crystal noir is headier and more night appropriate because it is a darker beauty on its own and also really shines through during wintertime (cold and dry weather).That is why when using its body lotion I used it on its own.Combined with the perfume it was just 'too much'... However since Bamboo is a lighter fresher version of Crystal Noir,when I combined it with Crystal Noir body cream (which is also a beauty on its own) it was just...magical!It really enhances the perfume making it cosier and ethereal with better projection,like a comfy blanket,creating a small inoffensive,classy sophisticated cloud of beauty that is just...ugh!It doesn't make it heavier,it just makes it perfect balancing even more the citrusy notes and projecting the white flowers much better giving it an air of pure sophistication!Big Love!!! <3 <3 <3

This is better than the edp. This one is warmer, softer and the lily note is better done here. The citrus here isn't so strong like in the edp. The edp was very flowery, but the citrus was fighting with the lily for attention, and it ended up smelling like dirty water. On the edt, even though the lily is not so intense, it is definitely stronger than the citrus, what i really appreciate. It smells a bit soapy, a bit creamy and light sweet. Think of a poor cousin of Baiser Volé. If you did not liked the edp, you probably won't like this one, because the differences are really subtle. If you're looking for a fresh perfume to wear at work,this could well be an option.

A clean, citrusy white floral. Reminds me of 212 by Carolina Herrera. Doesn't smell exactly the same but it's in the same scent category in my opinion. My mom disagrees. She loves this Gucci Bamboo EDT but hates 212. I think this may be great as an office scent. I let my mom shop my perfume wardrobe to give me an idea for her Christmas present and she chose this. Since it was new to my collection and only sprayed to sniff I gave it to her. She adores it. The opening of the this is very sharp. It kinda burns my nose and throat. The dry down is lovely though! Soft floral. It smells divine on my mom. I'm glad she has it.

I love Gucci floral perfumes. They have a common Gucci element to them, a sort of DNA that I really love. I've got Bamboo EDP which is more quiet and sophisticated. The EDT is easier, it's a complete perfume, start to finish, nothing is lacking. A bright citrus opening, some pear makes a lovely way to the floral heart so there is no distortion just beautiful harmony. And all of this settled unnoticably into a wonderful base. Then you catch yourself asking: what smells so good? Bamboo EDT. Dont let the EDT sign trick you. It develops, performs and lasts.

This is a basic green neroli and citrus scent that fizzes for about five seconds and then evens out into that dry, nondescript, papery-woody "fresh" scent that Calvin Klein made very popular twenty years ago. Unlike anything from CK, Gucci's note clarity and longevity are very good, and the fragrance feels like a decent fruity-floral, with enough bitterness to be comfortably unisex, but I would implore anyone interested in Bamboo (parfum or EDT) to give Jacomo's Silences a try before dropping the bigger bucks here.

I think I spoke too soon about this EDT!I tried it this morning at Douglas and guess what it's waaaay better than the EDP !For a start it smells beautiful a bit citrussy and quite creamy sweet I was surprised at how much I liked it! This is what the EDP should have smelled like in my opinion, the EDT projects well and has great longevity.Gorgeous EDIT a little overpriced for an EDT but since it's so nice I think it's well worth it EDIT I never got the EDP but I got this, so beautifully done

I tried this eau de toilette for the first time today and at first I got a waft of light floral, followed by a woody background which is not to overpowering and very pleasant. However, sadly this does have a very good longevity and faded very quickly. I really wanted to like this fragrance, that being said, it is still a lovely perfume and will have a lot of followers.

This is a clean, sharp fragrance which I bought for the warm months coming up however I don't like this fragrance. The woody/musky notes just don't agree with me after the original burst of bergamot. For me it just smells super cheap and not what I would expect from Gucci. For me this could easily be a cheaper brand/designer.

The first EDT I have bought in a very long time. In a collection of over 200+ bottles, some full and some travel, I have maybe three EDT's. This is a super clean, white scent. Floral and musk is what your getting it. A very clean, soapy scent. It smells nice but I never reach for it. Can be worn in any weather.

I see everyone else has the same question I do, LOL! An EDT for an already watered down EDP? Come on Gucci, this should have been Bamboo Intense or Bamboo Noir (although neither of those designations necessarily translates into improved longevity or sillage in the world of mass marketed fragrances these days).

The woody notes are quite dominating and overpowering. I'm confused how people describe this scent as clean. It is anything but. I don't like it at all

why they make EDT for already very weak and poor EDP? it faded away in minutes from my wrist when i've just tried it :D

I am a fan of Gucci perfumes specially flora and guilty, but this one is so weak, no character at all ..

Yes the EDP is already weak I can only imagine this will be even more watery
