Aqua Allegoria Ginger Piccante

I was underwhelmed when I first tried this from a decant swap. It was more a rose perfume than a ginger perfume. I put it away for awhile and pulled it out this summer and plowed through my decant in a month. It's still promarily a rose perfume to me. The ginger is most noticeable in the beginning, as is the bright lemony citrus. A light, bright rose joins and remains til the end. Very refreshing and perfect for heat and humidity, like a ginger rose tea. It's very linear on me and soft and not long-lasting. Stays close to the skin for most if its life. But I like perfumes that fade after after a few hours (I tend to not tire of my shorter-lived perfumes as I do with those tenacious powerhouses). I think this perfume is balanced nicely. It's not too sweet or too sour or "too" anything really. I can wear it when nothing else seems to appeal to me. It uplifts me when I'm feeling tired and refreshes and calms me as a bedtime scent. It also layers nicely with other roses or citrus perfumes. Happy I didn't give away my decant as I was thinking about doing that!

I think the creators were looking for the scent of ginger flower. An ingredient used in cooking. On first spray, this smells like ginger juice (grated ginger and squeezing the juice). Young ginger and spicy. Then, the English rose peaks through becoming stronger merging with a white musk base. A pretty perfume. One of those scents which barely says anything at all (not because you can't smell it) but, because it becomes one with you and the environment. The ginger stays crisp through the dry down. Unisex. I would love to smell this on the chest of a man. Another winner from the Aqua Allegoria range. I'm so happy that this range of fragrances while marketed to a younger market, are packaged in classy, stunning packaging and the scents are artfully curated for all to enjoy. Something lovely to put on everyday. My last ginger fragrance is from Origins, almost 20 years old. That one opens strongly and it's empty in the middle like a merlot. Ginger Piccante smells nothing like it.

I had a quick sniff and a spray in the store, and decided it would suit my partner well. By the time I could afford it, it was discontinued and sold out everywhere — except for astronomical prices online. To my great satisfaction I recently aquired an almost full bottle second hand, and it arrived in good time for christmas. I sprayed it on my hand, just to test it was okay... What happened was love at first sniff. An opening firework of lemony ginger quickly gave way to a buttery gingerbread cookie. The sweetness and warm spice released a wave of endorfins in my body, just pure joy and happiness! In the dry-down it reveals a cool, woody note — yet the ginger lingers on top. Beautiful! I don’t really get the rose in this scent, but it might be just the ingredient to make it light and comforting. I will keep this for myself, and start a campaign to make Guerlain restore it to the AA line!

Spicy, fresh, uplifting, and subtly sexy. I sprayed this on before bed, which I thought might be a mistake given the citrus notes, but it didn’t keep me awake. In fact, to me, it is a comforting scent. I woke in a delicious cloud of fragrance. It may be responsible for a sudden craving for Thai food though, lol. It seems to last longer on me in cooler weather. When I tested it several months ago, it faded too quickly. It was a hot, humid day. I cannot give you my husband’s full review just yet. He does like it, but I don’t yet know how much. He tends to prefer vanilla based fragrances like a lot of men. Edit: He says it smells like dryer sheets. I love dryer sheets! 😂 Another edit: Now he likes it a lot. Not a “sexy” like, but a aromatic, pleasing like. I’ve figured out that it reminds me of lemon ginger tea, which is something I love. Now my teenage daughter is stealing sprays from me.

Bought for me (thanks honey!) in January 2020, on holiday in the canary islands before Covid hit international travel. My nose tends to pick up singular notes, so I get citrus, ginger and rose. Thankfully the old olfactory workings do not pick up cedar, because generally cedar bases disagrees with me, mostly emitting 'back of the wood shed musty' type smell,I'm normally very agreeable so I don't know why cedar doesn't like me *sob*. but on this scent, cedar is unnoticeable. It's light, but stays quite a long time. I personally like spraying just on top of my chest, so when I flap my neckline I get a sweet ginger rose tickle. it's a favourite as it reminds me of my holidays and the fun Scottish couple we met there plus dark skies trying to keep above 19 degrees and generally having (and continuing) a relationship with a very nice man.

DELICIOUS !! I struggle with florals because truthfully I despise the smell of roses in real life, but the combination of ginger and rose is absolutely beautiful. It starts of very gingery - spicy and slightly candied, with an underlying soft rose scent. The dry down is much more balanced and the combination reminds me of a spa (my sister thinks it smells like gingery hair serum treatment) ! I personally find it quite relaxing and fresh but also expensive. It does not smell like cheap essential oil at all. The projection / sillage is not the best but honestly I don’t care. I can’t decide yet if I want to smell like this all day or if I’d rather have my room smell like this or both but I think this is my current favourite perfume I have. Give it a shot if you like a more spa-like (oriental?) scent

I like this one. Ginger Piccante is my favourite of Guerlain's Aqua Allegoria line, and sadly now withdrawn. It's a light, pretty rose-floral. Very refreshing and somewhat sharp. The ginger accord is more ginger lily flower than spice, almost tea-like. There's lemon and a lavish amount of white rose supported by transparent vetiver and light, unobtrusive musk. I'm convinced the ginger is actually composed from the other notes in combination: rose + vetiver + lemon + bergamot + a little pepperiness, though no one else has mentioned vetiver so I may be going off on one. The prettiness makes it lean fractionally feminine for me though I think anyone can wear it as a unisex rose. On me it seems to suit spring weather as well as cutting through the heat of summer.

I forgot this little wonderful one. When I organized my collection, I sniffed it again and it is like reconnecting with old friend. Ginger picante is the freshies version of D&G Devotion or Xerjoff Lira, I layered them after I reconnect with this again and ginger picante boost the citrusy scent of devotion, the balance vanilla and citrusy is so perfect, it is not too gourmand but not losing its cozy and yummy vibe. For an edt, guerlain did a wonderful job, the sillage is moderate and longevity is around 5-6 hours just like an edp works. I will search another one for back up bottle since I believe they discontinue this variant?

Yeaaaaaaah, Guerlain! This is the Aqua Allegoria we all wanted and needed. Not several depressingly similar scents with different coloured stickers. I don't care what anyone says, there's only so many ways you can market bergamot before it gets 'too much'. Ginger Piccante is an honest to goodness representation of natural and freshly cut ginger in the opening before becoming a soft, in-the-garden rose scent. It's simple, but by god is it effective. The rose is by far one of the most beautiful I've smelt in a while. It's also one of the first Aqua Allegoria scents I've decided I NEED. Well done. Really, really well done.

Love at first sniff! (Through a mask though, so the lemony opening was lost on me.) It's not a very complicated scent, just exactly what it says on the label - rose, ginger, and a faint cedar. The ginger and rose are very well balanced, without being too spicy or too rosy (imo). I could have done without the lemony opening, which is very sharp, but luckily it fades away quickly. Overall though, it's an extremely pretty, delicate scent. Not something I would consider sexy, but very pretty (which I prefer for day-to-day wearing).

What YSL L'Homme Ultime wish it was, without strong woody supporting notes (and thus a unisex version). As a previous comment stated, it's a candied ginger here (not regular ginger), so men may want to try this one before buying. Very uplifting summer frag, that I may want to wait for a price drop before buying ($80 is still a bit steep for what it is, but at $30-40, it would be a definite go). Perfomance is also better than most of the other Aqua Allegoria fragrances, and that doesn't hurt!

Fresh, bright, crisp, spicy, brisk, right at the get go and throughout. Ginger Piccante lives up to its name. It does actually smell like fresh ginger, later to develop onto a bed of light pink Peace Rose petals, a la Mon Guerlain Bloom of Rose EDT. The ginger never fades away, though, and they pair together unexpectedly well as a refreshing and zesty, punchy Aqua Allegoria for any gender. Longevity is about 4-6 hours until skin scent, and then if necessary, reapplication is a pleasure.

A stroke of genius! Ginger with roses, who would have thought? An awesome and realistic bracing ginger and fall antique red roses combined with summery citrus to form a unique and interesting accord. Individual notes are masterfully and seemlessly blended into a unified accord, yet each note is still clearly discernible and could all stand on their own. Definitely unisex! Spicy and rosey, it gave me warm, cosy, sweet and romantic vibes. Adequate performance on my skin too.

I smelled it twice in a perfume shop and decided it's nice but not for me, rather for a more masculine and energetic woman.. then couldn't forget about it and eventually bought one of the last bottles before their price skyrocketed. There's ginger and then rose in a simple yet intriguing, fresh mix that I love on myself and my clothes and receives a lot of compliments. The light, pink rose stays on clothes for the next day but it's not cloyingly sweet, just.. fresh.

To my chagrin I had this sprayed it and shelved it. It’s early autumn and I sprayed for an early morning walk to help me wake up. Bright and crisp. After my walk I was thinking what is that awesome smell...it’s this. Wow! Present ginger after the citrus, creamy almost slightly soapy wood and musk. Ginger remains. It’s beautiful and quite present. Glad I kept it. Surprisingly good performance.

Juicy ginger-lemon done perfectly. Ginger is prominent, spicy realistic ginger. Not tarty, but tiny bit sweet, very pleasant. Rose was not detectable on me (sad), neither musk (glad). It stayed fresh, fuzzy the whole time, did not turn to a boring soapy scent. Perfect for summer. I agree with comment below comparing it with Twilly, I prefer Ginger Piccante too, this one has better character.

I absolutely love it! It has rose, but smells unisex. The rose smells like a fresh-cut rose. Ginger comes out warm and delicious. Not very fresh, may not suitable for a very hot day, but except for that, you can wear this fragrance year round. It does not last for so long, but I get easy 6-7 hours. It projects moderately for at least 1.5 hours. Amazing scent! Guerlain never disappoints me!

Wonderful fresh-spicy-floral composition that pairs a spicy ginger note with an intense green rose, without any of the soapy off-notes ginger and rose can have. As it dries down, the cedar becomes more obvious, but Ginger Piccante never loses its floral character. Great longevity, and one of the most interesting perfumes in the Aqua Allegoria series.

Extremely unusual scent. Smells like Paul smith Rose with a hint of spiciness and less green. Just like a pure rose scent but with something peppery. On the right person it would be simple yet sexy. ITs not a sweet smell either Top notes: Rose, pink pepper Middle notes: Rose, ginger Base: Musk

I love this parfume so much. To me, it smells like a freshly cut ginger and a garden full of blooming roses with early morning dew on the petals. It is feminine, soft and inoffensive. I can imagine women from old romantic paintings wearing this. The only downside is the price for me.
