Attrape Coeur

I have over 150 bottles of fragrance and Attrape Coeur is in my top 5. Need I say more? Here's a story: I was stopped dead in my tracks by someone who HAD to know which perfume I was wearing. She said it was marvelous and smelled expensive. I kindly answered her with "Yes" plus it's d/c and hard to find. Of course I thanked her, Unfortunately my bee bottle is now about 1/8 full. I can't imagine my life without it!

My sister bought this for me from France around a decade ago. It is a lovely bottle, and a lovely composition, but it ultimately smells too powdery, too mossy, and too old fashioned for me. There's powder, violet, iris, guerlinade, and moss. I don't get much fruit or jasmine/tuberose. Not much sandalwood either. I like having it more as an academic interest. I almost never reach for it and when I do spray it on, I find it interesting and different but I don't love it.

Finally got my hands on a used bottle. The opening is a bit rough, reminded me of some really old vintage perfume. I was about to give up when only after about five minutes it began to morph. This is spectacular! The dry down is superb with all the base notes working in harmony. I hate to compare Guerlain however this does remind me of a deep, rich and sexy musk blend I used to own and have been searching for well over twenty years. I love all Guerlain but never tried this. Where has this been all my life! I can say, it probably is not for everyone. Attrape Couer does not have the effervescence as some Guerlain perfumes do but rather this is rich and a true oriental fragrance.
