There are always going to be reviews that call this “just okay,” or question its projection or longevity but those takes say more about the nose than the fragrance. Either something’s off, or the olfactory sense simply isn’t mature enough yet to fully grasp what’s happening here. Because stripped of bias, this is unmistakably a masterpiece. There are citrus fragrances, and then there is what Guerlain has done with Bergamote Fantastico Extrait 11. This isn’t just a bright opening it’s an entire philosophy of citrus pushed to its absolute limit. From the very first spray, the bergamot feels almost unreal in its precision. Not “fresh” in the generic sense, but hyper-realistic like slicing into a perfectly ripe Calabrian bergamot where the peel releases that bitter-green oil, the pulp glistens, and the air itself seems charged. It doesn’t smell composed; it smells extracted straight from nature, then refined beyond what nature usually allows. What truly sets it apart is the sparkle. Most citrus fragrances no matter how expensive burn brightly for 15 to 20 minutes before softening into something more abstract. Here, that effervescent, almost fizzy luminosity refuses to fade. It lingers for hours, maintaining clarity and lift without collapsing into dullness. The top note behaves like a heart, and the heart behaves like a signature an almost continuous thread of radiant citrus energy. That kind of performance isn’t an accident. It’s the result of raw material quality at a level very few houses are willing or able to pursue. Guerlain has always had deep access to exceptional ingredients, but here they’re not just using them; they’re showcasing them with restraint and confidence. There’s no clutter, no unnecessary complexity just an obsessive focus on making bergamot feel eternal. The price, inevitably, raises eyebrows. But once you experience it, the logic becomes clearer. You’re not paying for marketing or excess packaging you’re paying for concentration, sourcing, and craftsmanship that very few brands attempt today. Wow... just wow. If you're a citrus lover like I am, you will probably like this. I'm into bergamot, lemon-y scents with JUST a drop of mandarine/orange to spice things up. I don't particularly love green scents, at least now headache-inducing ones, so this was definitely a surprise. Most fresh citrus fragrances are colognes or EDTs, so imagine my surprise (and disbelief) when I saw Guerlain had released an EXTRAIT. Not an EDP, not a Parfum, but an Extrait. I HAD to try it. At first, it wasn't love at first sight. In fact, I actually discarded it. But I tried it on the other day and WOW. It's sharp at first, so give it some time (around 15-30 minutes). When I spray on my skin, it lasts 1h-1h30 with that gorgeous zingy acid lemon scent, which turns just a PINCH sweet to balance things out, with that petigrain lovely green touch but without it being overwhelming. It's fresh and freshens you up immediately. After that time, you start to smell that sweet ambroxan opoponax note with lemon in the background. But on my clothes... it's a different story. It projects for 3 hours and leaves a GORGEOUS trail as you walk, remaining zestier than on skin and quite powerful. After that, you'll have to get closer to smell it, but people WILL notice when they give you a hug. Can be worn all year long, but I'd say if you use it in colder days, definitely use it in the mornings. If it's warm outside, any time works! The only downside, like with all the extraits Guerlain released, is it's price. 550 euros for 50ml is insane... so if you can find a decant out there like I did, I say go for it. Are there other good citrus fragrances out there for a better price-quality ratio? I'm sure there are. But I haven't found one that lasts this long...

Not here to complain about price. My first reaction was “another fruity lemonade, kind of smelling fragrance” and quickly passed to the next in the line of six. After my session, I decided to buy the Jasmine fragrance and sit on the iris and rose, in which my sales rep even gave me 4 mL bottles of both the iris and the rose to sample. I wore both fragrances all day and ended up deciding to go back for the Bergamont. I return the next day, I immediately sprayed on my hand so that I can sample it all day, and it did last all day. I made my purchase and went on my way. It is 48hrs later. I have layered 2 to 3 different colognes on top of the same spot, taken two showers, and I can still smell it on the back of my right hand. My first thought when Maxime sprayed the cologne on a strip was “sprite” but not the American, overly sweet kind. It brought me back to my first sprite I had after landing in Frankfurt, Germany and stepping on EU soil for the first time. The fragrance smells just like a freshly sliced Bergamont handed to you in the middle of a Bergamont tree field. It’s like they condensed the smell from the tip of the branch, where the fruit lies to where it connects to the tree. A linear fragrance with a high price tag and extreme longevity. Not much of a projector, but I did continue to sniff my hand as often as possible. The price is steep but you must make that decision after you smell it. I paid full price for both bottles.

I don't know why but I was expecting Les Extraits Signature to be just solinote extraits of the 6 components of the legendary Guerlinade . Although sales assistants have clearly been briefed to recommend layering I think each extrait is complex enough to be worn on its own. Given the asking price it's a good job they are. Bergamote Fantastico was the first out of the gate to strike me hard and was much more appealing than I expected from the humble bergamot. It has a superb citrus-bergamot opening, deep and golden, making me clench my jaw in pleasure as it hits the saliva glands, and blooming huge on skin as it slowly warms over its noble iris-guaiac wood core. The bergamot elements — leaves, peel and juicy pulp — are delightful, really voluminous, intense stuff. The guaiac and synthetic amber are well-handled. They're usually tricky notes for me and I'm not 100% sold on them here but the perfume is judiciously balanced. I swear there's iris as the wood has that soft, downright perfumey quality. It even becomes a little chocolatey-patchouli in the far dry down, especially the day after on clothes. And even in this late stage I still get strong bergamot citrus peel. It was interesting to go back to Shalimar EdP afterwards and isolate the same bergamot note. Overall a vivid, juicy, bright evening perfume perfect for year-round glamorous occasions and a welcome addition to the Guerlain stable.

This fragrance develops from a perfectly natural vivid bergamot with clear green viens throughout, to a warm butter (with lightly charred gaiac accents) and a smooth proprietary opopanine (Guerlainade) amber. The amber is delicate as usual even in extrait concentration, so it doesn't feel like a heavy or intrusive amber perfume imo. It's very smooth and refined. If I had to pick a comparison, it would be Xerjoff Renaissance. Not precisely the same, so if that kind of nuanced and perfumery is meaningful to you, then try for yourself. Otherwise, Renaissance which is FANTASTIC in its own right, would be suitable for most. The obvious problem for some (myself included) is the price of $700 USD for 50ml. It might be more palatable for a 100ml — but price not withstanding, the fragrance itself is very nice. It's not wildly complicated with radical transitions, but the beauty of this one is in its execution and little things done right. And they figured out a new and complex way to extract the essence of the honey and bergamot, according to Theiry Wasser. I'll stick with Renaissance and wear this on occasion, but I won't get another decant and won't seek out a bottle. ---------------------‐---------------------- A warm sunkissed citrus, for the 1% with deep pockets.

I really want to try this because I love bergamot fragrances and wear them a lot, but I did some math first. $630 USD for a 50ml bottle plus tax, works out to roughly 682 (my sales tax rate) with free shipping. That works out to roughly $13.64 per ml, or to take it a step further, $1.36 per spray. 1.36 per spray for a Bergamot fragrance. There are people that say you can't put a price on art and I understand their perspective, but Guerlain is insane to charge this kind of money for a Bergamot with ambroxen and amber aroma chemical fixatives. I will not slander this perfume as I have not tried it, but these are not expensive materials, they couldn't at least give 100 or 120ml? . .

Bergamot Fantastico is truly beautiful, despite the insane price. Putting price aside here is what I get.. From the first spray, it’s the purest bergamot so real it feels like you’re smelling the whole plant. Fresh, green, and alive. It instantly brings me back to the lemon leaf tea my grandmother used to make. That same comforting, familiar scent, to me it feels like a memory. The dry down is my favorite part. It’s simple, soft, and just perfect. I’m not usually drawn to citrus, but this one has my heart.

I've never been a fan of bergamot, orange blossom or any citrus scent but wearing the sample of this makes me feel different! On the tester paper it smells very citrus forward but on skin it turns into a refreshing, sweet citrus. Like the most juicy, natural type of sweetness that can come from a citrus fragrance. Combined with some musk, it does smell a bit soap-like. Incredibly clean and refreshing, underrated for women, men probably love it already

Vampires on eBay selling 10ml of this perfume for 250 USD. Trust me guys, it's a nice citrus amber but no where near worth this mark up. I like Le Labo Bergamote 22, ADP Bergamotto Di Calabria, and PMC Bergamotto Di Calabria more than this one. It's good, but it's not mount Rushmore of bergamot scents IMO. Dries down warm with the typical Guerlanade. Not for hot weather with that drydown, but a good scent nonetheless.

I'm so glad Guerlain has a set of extraits in 6 mini bottles available for $630 that you can try before getting commit to the full bottle. I pretty much enjoy all of them from this line. Use to layer with others scents last 8-10 hr on my skin. Very intense only 2-3 sprays that all you need.

Like it's name it a fantastic bergamot fragrance, the most beautiful from all bergamot fragrances that i have tried before. But the price is unreachable for me.

Exquisite but so short-lived I can't even begin to consider this a viable purchase. Such a shame. It's up there with the tonka as the best of this line for me.

As a citrus lover I could say this is a gorgeous citrus scent. It opens with a juicy mouthwatering bergamot. And what comes up is beautiful green petigrain. The gaiac wood and amber are subtle and elegant. But at the drydown I can smell a huge dose of ambroxan. Half bottel of ambroxan for 550€? You do the math.

A very fresh and sparkling fragrance that smells of bergamot, petitgrain, and lemon. It's very pretty, but frankly, I find the price extremely exaggerated for a fragrance that's ultimately quite simple and classic. A shame.

A great perfume, but this is decidedly male, not unisex. It’s inescapable both in sillage and longevity, I just shouldn’t have tried it on myself. Would love to smell this on a man though...

Agree with reviewer below, nothing like Le Labo Bergamot 22. This one is very natural smelling and the petitgrain overpowers a bit but still really beaitiful. Must love citrus to like this.

Huh... I do try to judge a fragrance independently of its price point but this is made acutely difficult in this case due to both the astronomical price of Bergamote Fantastico and the fact that we're being sold a scent at 10 times its realistic value by such a favourite house - Guerlain... When they released these extraits, part of me hoped it would be some exception, that here we had a L'Art et la Matière that was somehow (by virtue of smelling incredible) worth its absurd price - I assumed immediately this bergamot was going to be somehow next-level. Alas: no. Longevity is 4/5 hours. I can really only smell bergamot and wood - nothing else. The wood note here isn't particularly good (unfortunately) and the bergamot, such as it is, is far inferior to the house's own Bergamote Calabria, which blows this scent out of the water with the force of an atomic bomb. Fantastico is quite shockingly outclassed by the Aqua Allegoria. I honestly don't even recommend trying Bergamote Fantastico - trust me, you're not missing anything, and you've smelled it thousands of times before at a fraction of the price.

One of the reviewers here on Fragrantica wrote "it is a glorified Aqua Allegoria" and I agree. It is a cheerful, very crisp,slightly "dusty" bergamot and bergamot-petitgrain, of a good longevity thank to the support of some tenacious synthetic materials. Nice, but I've seen better than that, and it is absolutely and definitely NOT worth its price tag. You essentially pay 550€ for a lovely bottle.... for me this is a joke.
