20th Century Guerlain's Eau Fraiche Unwise noses tend to think that every eau fraiche is a copy of 4711 but citrus have a HUGE variety of tones... Guerlain Homme is also citrus but it has a different tone, crisper and sweeter, mixed with rum... another masterpiece. Usually citrus tones bring a higienic feeling so some cheap fragrances always comes with a dark plane tone of citrus evocating a cliché masculine personality. Those horrible citrus can't resist through time.... In about 30 minutes it starts a TERRIBLE residual smell that finishes the evolution of the perfume... With that said, Guerlain knows and cares about the evolution of each fragrance giving them a single "soul"... Like I said before, each Guerlain fragrance is a single poetry... It tells a story... Habit Rouge is a classic noble knight... Guerlain Homme is a modern elegant man... Shalimar is a sweet dreaming girl from La Belle Époque... La Petite Robe Noire is a elegant modern woman... L'Homme Ideal is a talent dreaming boy... I intentionally used tthe terms modern and classic as I believe perfumes are a form of art the same way I think every period of time is marked by some specific tones... Modern feminine tend to be sweeter and gourmand... modern masculine tend to be fresh, lighter and also sweet. That's why I think Eau de Guerlain so special! It is a transitional fragrance between a classic perfumary (fougère) and a modern one (gourmand). There is a very important tone missing in Eau de Guerlain's Fragrantica entry: Fennel. Fennel is translated in Brazlian Portuguese as "Sweet Herb"... It is a very intermadiate tone between a herb (lemon balm) with a bittersweet tone of anise... EDG is not a Fougère nor a Gourmand... It resembles them... but its not any of those. So maybe this is the reason Guerlain changed EDG from a eau de toilette to a Eau Fraiche... It marks the ending of the classic perfumary and hints a new time... Each eau fraiche represents a history age: * Eau de Cologne Imperiale = Romantic = mid 19th century * Eau de Cologne du Coq = Realism/Nationalism/Pre Avant-Garde= 19th century ending *Eau de Fleurs de Cedrat = Belle Èpoque/Avant-Garde = early 20th century *Eau de Guerlain = Existentialism/Post-Modernism/Relativism = 20th century core Eau de Guerlain represents the ending of a innocent, proud, revolutionary and honest time (early 20th century) and the rising of a cynical, rhetorical, individualist and technological-oriented 20th century ending... This fragrance is the proof perfumery is a form of art... That's the Guerlain's interpretation of the Age of the Extremes, the way Eric Hobsbawn calls the short 20th century! Eau de Guerlain is a fantastic summertime citrusy, freshie, aromatic, moderately sweet, but sweet in a fruity way, cologne style perfume. I have recently been on a trip to Cagliari, Sardegna and the weather was fantastic, mid to high twenty Celsius degrees for most of the time and sunshine all day long. I visited several perfume shops in the city and I stopped by several designers counters looking for a summer holiday scent to purchase to wear during my vacation and to have as a perfume souvenir, which is one of my favourite thing to shop for. From all the perfumes I’ve sampled, (and I have sampled lots of Aqua di Parma, Giardini di Toscana, Aqua di Sardegna), Eau de Guerlain, Eau de Fleurs de Cedrat and Eau de Cologne du Coq were my favourite for what I was looking to purchase. They only had two out of these three available to purchase, Eau de Fleurs de Cedrat they were out of stock for the moment. Eau de Guerlain was both mine and my husband’s favourite, so I bought this for both to share, which was perfect. It’s perfectly unisex, very fresh and light, but airy and radiant. It’s mostly lemons/bergamot, basil, mint, lavender, neroli and moss, with less noticeable supporting notes like jasmine, sandalwood, fruity accents and patchouli. It’s your typical summer scent, but very elegant and natural smelling, a true French classic cologne. I love it and I worn it with a head to toe white linen outfit and I was absolutely delighted with how amazing but refreshed it made me feel in the Mediterranean sunshine! I would recommend it the ladies to get their nose on Eau de Guerlain, it’s rather a great unisex scent, than something mostly masculine, like the votes suggests here.

Invigorating! Fresh and Aromatic! Jean-Paul Guerlain's Eau de Guerlain is yet another take on the fresh, citrus Eau de Cologne style of fragrances. These were typically used for a refreshing experience at the start to someone's day. The idea is you put on an Eau de Cologne after a shower or morning ritual, and you could go on with your day ahead. Although Eau de Colognes came in many interpretations, they often followed a similar formula. Bright, zesty citrus at the top, light, sometimes sweet florals in the mid, and very little base (maybe some light musk). The examples are endless... 4711 and the like, and even Guerlain's own Eau de Cologne Impériale and Eau des Fluers de Cédrat . With Eau de Guerlain , I feel like it stands out from the others. By including a few unique notes. Aromatic notes such as caraway and zesty spearmint. When I spray this, it reminds me of freshly cut herbs in the kitchen, coupled with fresh, ripe lemon. It has a bitterness and a freshness that is undeniable, and very unique. It's like a cool gin-and-tonic drink which has carbonated water and slices of fresh lemon & lime. It really lifts me up and refreshes me. Almost like hiking in the mountains where you find mountain streams where the water is pure and full of minerals. I would describe it as very "mineral" like. I really love it! I think that out of all the Guerlain "Eaux", such as Impériale , Cédrat etc. This one is the most unique, has the strongest lasting power (it's in Eau de Toilette, whereas the others were Eau de Cologne), and ultimately... is the one worth your money. If you have to buy one, buy this one. Definitely worth trying out, especially in spring!

Jean-Paul Guerlain’s take on the cologne is probably the ideal example of a successful citrus fragrance. Usually colognes are just refreshing tools that lack in complexity and tend to appeal to people that don’t like perfumes. Eau de Guerlain in comparison is a composition with a bold character and depth while at the same moment staying close to the idea of use of cologne. It is a fresh, green, full-bodied citrus, with some spices and flowers, a majestic mint opening and a soft velvety drydown. It is deceptively simple, as a cologne should be, but on skin reveals great complexity and unusual long-lastingness. Eau de Guerlain is a marvel to wear and paradoxically never gets boring. As an exemplary citrus fragrance it is the best of the Guearlain’s eaus and probably the best cologne on earth. What I happen to love in such classic compositions (Eau de Guerlain, Derby, Sycomore) is that they are not made to create fleeting impressions or just have an insipid, namby-pamby presence. These fragrances have soul, character, intellect, beauty and never yell for attention. As great works of art they exercise neither mind nor body but the psyche and the emotions keeping them healthy and in balance. They have an appeal untouched by the passing of time and are more necessities rather than luxuries. They all carry the divine, grand touch and are timeless classics.

I have found myself working through my vintage Guerlain miniatures over the past little while. Today's choice - Eau de Guerlain. This is a simple but excellent unisex citrus cologne - fresh, classic and light, ideal for summer days. EDG opens with a radiant lemon note, juicy and bitingly fresh. It moves to verbena territory, herbal-lemon, reminding me almost exactly of L'Occitane Verveine. Bergamot creeps in, adding its typical darker, tart citric quality. The mint note comes to the fore, herbal and slightly camphor-like, bolstered by lavender and some green geranium. It is most masculine here, slightly spicy, aromatic and green. The florals creep in, adding a feminine edge, but are fleeting and very subtle, with the exception of neroli, which complements the citrus of the opening. The drydown is dominated by beautiful, old-style oakmoss, veering into chypre territory but without the full effect. It remains fresh and green, fading to a woody-musky skin scent in about three hours. Sillage is moderate. A top-notch classic unisex cologne, EDG is timeless and easy to wear. As well as the aforementioned L'Occitane, it reminds me of Eau Sauvage and Ô de Lancôme - citrusy, green cologne-style scents. Simple yet sublime summer elegance. 4.5/5.

About the perfect go-to summer fragrance: light, crisp, and refreshing. I don't always agree with Luca Turin, but he writes of Eau de Guerlain, "if you want citrus, there is simply nothing better out there," and here I think he's pretty correct. What's nice about this is that it feels like an eau de cologne but lasts and projects longer than most of them, and also that the ingredients feel all natural and perfectly balanced. It's rare to get a fragrance with lemon and bergamot where the lemon doesn't overpower the bergamot, but there they are perfect balanced--together they seem more like just citrus rather than one or the other. The mint and basil are strong in this (and very refreshing), and though the florals are there they really are in the background. And the drydown is mostly heavenly oakmoss, so like Dior's Eau Fraiche, this is a chypre transposed onto a citrus--only much, much lighter than Eau Fraiche. Perfect for hot summer days, for which eaux de cologne were actually originally designed--you refresh yourself with it, and the water cools you while the alcohol evaporates off. And it's not too expensive, either, and comes in the famous glass Guerlain "bee" bottle.

I have a bottle of the vintage formula which is very different from the newer version (I only have to look at the reviews to see this). My nose tells me that the Fragranctica notes for this scent are clearly for the vintage formulation. This is a very complex frag, a lot going on here for a seemingly light citrus-aromatic. The opening is wonderfully zingy with citrus, and the green herby note of basil adds even more freshness. The middle notes are many; I couldn't pick out all of them, but to my nose these are most noticable; caraway, sandalwood, patchouli, lavender, a touch of jasmine, rose and mint. (Love these pre-formulation frags! They're always so much more interesting.) The drydown, a nice musky, oakmoss based accord, seems to make this scent last longer than most citrus fragrances; longevity was about 4-5 hours on me. It's so refreshing and unique that I don't mind spraying every hour if need be. A thumbs-up for this formula, it's sensational. A great hot weather daytime scent for men or women. (The floral notes are not in-your-face; they are subtle.)

Warning: over the top review to follow. I do not want this fragrance to be touched by any other scent. No food smells, dog odour or car fumes can be allowed to interfere with this perfectly balanced blend. It should be smelled, alone, in the cool, still of the night. Not another scent to fracture its gossamer cloud. When the fleeting and effervescent top notes subside an image is revealed. A perfectly ripened, sweet but sharp citrus fruit . A fully formed image of the whole fruit. Plucked from the tree, washed free of any dirt or dust and left to warm in the summer sun. The gentle, waxy skin is lined with a soft and fluffy white layer of pith. This in turn hides the tangy, sugary citrus juice contained within the plump segments of the fruit. A slightly hazy yet somehow perfect reflection of nature's beauty rendered through perfumery. Strange to want to smell this, almost living fragrance, in such a furtive and jealous manner; but that's how it must be. A tiny slice of heaven experienced in seclusion. Oh, did I mention I quite like this one?

First time I sprayed this after receiving it in the mail, I immediately ordered a back up. It's MARVELOUS! This is the most different of the 5 Les Eaux. Eau de Cologne Imperial, Eau de Cologne du Coq, and Eau de Fleurs de Cedrat are quite similar feeling with different accents, but this one stand out. (La Cologne du Parfumeur is also lovely but does feel modern and this makes me put it in a different category). It was launched in the 70s and it really represents that era and if you like perfumes like Dior's Diorella, you'd love this. I love Diorella but, I prefer this because instead of the overripe fruits in Diorella, you get basil, mint, caraway giving it a sweet herbal accent and it's so good. Fresh but not squeaky clean, but I love it that way and that's what I love about scents from the 70s. Such a classy scent to wear with a white shirt but I bet it goes equally well with a linen suit. Definitely unisex. Highly recommended!

This is the most realistic fragrance I have ever smelled. Opening citrus so true to life it would fool a Floridian. Basil, caraway, and mint make me think I’m meditating in an herb garden in the summer. Across the fence is a flower garden that perfumes the air with light fragrance as the wind shifts. This fragrance is not masculine or feminine, just as a garden is neither: it isn’t engineered to be one or the other. It just smells as nature made it to be. Eau de Guerlain will probably be best suited to the spring and summer weather, when one would encounter these notes outdoors. Longevity is decent for such a natural scent, but don’t expect it to last 8 hours. Sandalwood comes out in the drydown. Among so many synthetic smelling fragrances, this almost smells out of place in today’s fragrance market. It’s initially surprising, an “anti-perfume” compared to most of the stuff we wear. Everyone should own something like this.

My 2nd review on this absolute Masterpiece from Guerlain. This is my "lemon heads" quasi-gourmand summer fragrance. though not by any meands a gourmand fragrance, this thing smells delicious all the way from the top to the dry down. I get Lemonheads (American candies in a box, they are small round like marbles but smaller, and smell of candied lemonade) at the top, drying down to a sweet, lemonade scent that just wafts all around you in a lovely cloud of lemony/sweet candied lemons - perhaps its the guerlinade? Could very well be! It is refreshing and cozy all the same, one of my favorite summer perfumes - top notch! For ages 30 and over, this would not smell well on a teen or someone on their mid/early twenties, it is gorgeous but i believe it has a mature flare that is hard to describe. VERY charming fragrance, just masterful! Scent - 9/10 Longevity 6/10 silage: 5.5/10

One of the best gorgeous lemon verbena fragrances; I LOVE it. I first purchased it blind on the basis of Luca Turin's overwhelming positive endorsement. When it arrived, I sprayed some, waited, and was underwhelmed. It was a nice, but I couldn't help but think Luca missed the mark. After all, nobody's perfect. I should have known better. The next day, I sprayed it liberally all over after a shower, dressed and went out. The bright sparkling verbena fragrance warmed and enveloped me in a virtual sun shower of fragrance. I kept sniffing my shirt to drink it in, and my dour mood lifted and disappeared. I got compliments all day long. I must have every lemon verbena fragrance ever made, and I still think Eau d' Hadrien and Verbenas of Provence are my favorites. But this is equally beautiful. Highest recommendation!!

This may be the most refreshing fragrance I have ever experienced! I'm not big on citrusy aromatic fragrances. I don't dislike them, but find it hard to love them. This is a masterpiece! It's like taking a portable shower with you, so you can freshen up all day long! But there is more going on than just freshness. It's actually quite complex. There is a slight floralcy that peaks through once the initial blast wears down, but they stay true to the citrus heart, particularly the neroli. And it all rests on top of an earthy, though not dusty, bed of patch and woods. But all this beauty comes with a price. It just doesn't last. That's the nature of the beast. Still, I am happy to own this, as it does amazing things for my spirit and is perfect for mornings when you just need some extra zoom!

On some shopping sites I've found Eau de Guerlain listed under Women's fragrance, but I'd be inclined to either move it to Men's or simply create a new Unisex catagory. It's undeniably fresh, with an opening burst of lemon and mint. It's during the drydown that deeper notes like oakmoss and lavender come through and, it's here that I think some noses will find it tips towards the masculine. However, it is most definitely unisex: women will be able to wear it comfortably without raising conservative eyebrows and men will not find it overly feminine. It lasts well on my skin, but I do need to top up after about 4 hours. Silage is soft, too. I'd recommend Eau de Guerlain; it's undeniably a classic and, if you like unisex fragrances, it can't fail to score.

This is the 2nd Guerlain I've tried with high hopes of the perfect citrus summer scent. First sniff, wonderful!! More lime than lemon but bright and fresh, done just right. Not face puckering screechy sour but also not candy sweet. Again, perfect. Unfortunately, this only lasts about 30 seconds. Then comes on a mossy green similar to Cristalle that darkens and flattens the citrus down to a barely discernable smudge. After this stage I get more spice and the lavendar is prominent. The drydown reminds me alot of Bois de Iles, very gingerbread like. Even if you use a ton of it, it only shouts for a few short minutes, then whispers for the rest of it's 1-2 hour life. Skin close and unobtrusive but not the gem I'm looking for.

I'm revisiting these classic Guerlain fragrances because they are excellent and I feel I need to review them as they have more historic significance than many perfumes out there. It's hard not to love this, simplicity and complexity in a bottle, the bright, invigorating citrus and mint, a hint of white florals, green notes and lavender then the wholeness but gentile application of a musky oakmoss it's a class act. I don't know who compared it to Ninfeo mio a great scent and similar I suppose in the top notes but the base is very different. For an EDT in the cologne style and even in the latest formulation, I found it lasted better than Imperial and Coq for example. This is a brilliant and refreshing scent.

I received this cologne as a gift from a very dear friend, a well-travelled fragrance enthusiast, with an exquisite collection. I haven't had the opportunity to test Guerlain's Eau collection before, and this is such a pleasant surprise. What a beautiful scent! Although this is a cologne, it is not straightforward citrus-neroli, but much more complex. I absolutely adore this type of fragrance: perfectly unisex, sunny, fresh, aromatic, herbal, mossy, minty, with a few retro notes (carnation, oakmoss, powdery rose) that make it stand out from your token lemony freshies. Eau de Guerlain is enjoyable from start to finish and perfect for warmer weather. Now that Spring has arrived, I will be wearing this a lot.

As others have noted, it's more masculine than the other classic Guerlain Eaux, but women who like citrus cologne and green chypres will like it, too. Marvelously complex, clean yet earthy, casual yet refined. Its cologne-cousins are Acqua di Parma Colonia (verbena, soapy florals, mossy base), Dior Eau Sauvage (sparkling jasmine + layers of green), and Novaya Zarya Troynoy (herbal spicy green with an amber-musk base). Gorgeous in the summer...and in spring and fall as well; zippy verbena and deeper basenotes give it enough oomph to work in sweater weather. I love it best in early spring when the earth begins to warm and become fragrant again. These green notes sing with the green earth outside. Magic.

Eau de Guerlain was my daily driver for a good number of years before it was _en effet_ discontinued. But what a daily driver. Not a Ford Focus. Not even a 5 Series, but a Mark 2 Jaguar. Not as flashy as an E-Type, but confident, assured, reassuring. In the usual run of things, I don't go in for citrus. Too often it's astringent and acerbic, and all kinds of horrible. This, on the other hand, is a rich citrus, analogous with, though not at all reminiscent of, marmalade. The lavender, which I can just about isolate, lends depth and warmth. But there is so much more to it than that. It is confidently complex, yet at the same time frank. A beautiful, fitting thing to wear to work every day.

A beautiful burst of natural smelling lemon with mint and watery notes is what I get on first application. It smells very refreshing in a lemonade way. Soon after you get light herbs and lavender with a very subtle floral rose note. The scent is very light and aromatic and weaved with a complexity that has you thinking how have they done this. Eventually moss and musk with a lovely airy light jasmine note dominates the drydown. Very nice and what a lovely journey from start to finish. It stays close to you and I get about five to six hours longevity which is great for this type of scent. All in all a pleasure and they truly do not make them like this anymore. Big thumbs up!

This is so airy and light! It is the smell of a midsummer's eve. The sunlight just fading, the beautiful chinese fan waving this soft and lofty scent around as she flickers the fan back and forth. Gossip and chatter over the incoming rumors of war. She sits with a friend in a bench surrounded by a beautiful garden, chattering away over a deliciously refreshing, condensed, thirst inducing lemonade. Golden French era, pre WW2, circa 1936 fragrance. This is sophistication in a bottle, you will not offend anyone no matter how much you spray. It is simply divine. 8.5/10

I first tried this one at the Guerlain Boutique in the French section of EPCOT and was won over. It's a delightful citrus and mint scent; it reminds me a bit of Dior's Eau Sauvage and a bit of Cartier Roadster - but it smells distinctively elegant and well-wrought, like a Guerlain. However, my fragrance-absorbing skin does it again: longevity is not good unless I spray it on my cotton tee shirt top. This is the fate of all such light cologne scents on me, I am sorry to say. So - I'll just stick with my inexpensive 4711. Same vibe, costs little, use lots.

Together with vintage Diorella, Eau de Guerlain is one of the very few reasons that makes the thought of hot summers endurable. I prefer milder seasons like autumn or spring, and don't mind winter either, but I am braindead when it's above 30 degrees Celsius. This absolutely brilliant herbal citrus, delicately underpinned by gentle florals is perfect to uplift my wilting spirits when temperatures are soaring. I am not a lover of summery/citrussy frags, but this is as good as it gets, imo. Longevity is better than your average EDC.

Eau de Guerlain is not a classic Eaux in the conventional sense of the term; it doesn't have a citrus/neroli-heavy accord. What makes it shine, however, is the crispest, most delectable lemon verbena accord in all of perfumery. Just straight up honeyed lemon verbena for hours on end. It doesn't last TOO long, but that's okay, because this stuff is a pleasure to reapply. If you want a lemon verbena fragrance, look no further. Eau de Guerlain is one of the absolute greatest summer fragrances ever made, for men and women.

My second review of this: Still the best! If you're thinking all "cologne" type scents smell the same, try this! It will change your mind. It has complexity but still maintains lightness and brightness. That's a feat! The mossy base gives it some body and it has a lot more lasting power and projection compared to more typical colognes. Can't recommend it enough! If you're someone who loves that white shirt and a nice watch type of chic look (but traditional; not like a Kardashian), this is it!

THIS IS WONDERFUL! I was expecting something soapy, like most aromatics. Nope. Fresh herbs. Like I've been playing in my herb garden. At first application, I smelled lemon verbena. In the heart, I smelled a beautiful, photorealistic anise. In the dry down I have caraway and mint. Yeah, I know that's not what the notes say are in this one, but that's what I got. And I LOVED it! Fresh, cool, lung expanding, stress relieving, and beautiful. love, love, love.

Probably one of the best citrus fragrances ever made. If I could choose one fragrance as the archetype for citrus-aromatic scents it'd be this one because it does everything right. Citrus notes are sharp, clear, and tangy, like I'm cutting lemons. The herbs and spices add a further hint of freshness without subduing the citrus and extend the performance of the top notes. Longevity might be a little lacking but overall an all-time classic.

Wonderful as it has always been. However, I have noticed with my recent purchase that Guerlain changed the concentration now to Eau de Cologne. Since its conception, this fragrance has always been made in Eau de Toilette concentration. So far I haven't noticed any obvious difference in quality of the fragrance or longevity, so I have no idea what this change is all about, just wondering....

This is a strong and straight up fresh citrus cologne which isn't artificial or cloying. No syrupy sweet notes. Just perfect for layering with other perfumes or to freshen up. After about an hour though, it smells like warm, minty fresh breath. Like you've just brushed your teeth. Now that I've made that association, I can't stop thinking someone is breathing on me!

@diego.lesgart Yes, it's very much alive and should definitely be available at any Guerlain counter along with other Eaux. It's still popular across Europe and available at such chains as Douglas for instance. In the US one can get it at Guerlain counter in high end department stores, and obviously Guerlain boutiques (such as the one in Las Vegas).

What a lovely everyday scent this one is...much better longevity than Fleurs de Cedrat (which I also love) with a slightly toned down citrus note...this is lime and bergamot at the peak of ripeness...wakes you up...then dries down to a soft, slightly spicey finish...perfect...

Absolutely amazing; masterpiece of perfumery right here. Don't worry about smelling too 'dated' and such; just enjoy the fragrance! Good one to bring on vacations to beachy or warm places (such as Cancun *wink*)!

This is a superb citrus cologne. Spritz regularly on a sweltering hot day and it will reinvigorate you without fail. Perfect right to the drydown with no heaviness. I will cry if this is ever discontinued.

Utterly perfect in every way. This is the very best Eau de Cologne there is. Refreshing, non-linear, strange as hell, and signature-scent worthy. It's a head scratcher and a lovely indulgence at once.

Long lasting straight forward citrus cologne. Very easy to wear any where or any place however this fragrance Will make you time travel to the 70"s. I just love it. 9/10

Eau de Guerlain is one of the classic colognes and from one of the most distinguished Houses of them all. Being the Guerlain perfumer carried a century's weight of history and expectation from customers and family alike. Jean-Paul Guerlain rose to those mighty expectations with aplomb and created classics such as Habit Rouge and Vetiver. One of the weights of Guerlain's history was the colognes, the eaux. With Eau de Cologne Imperiale, Eau de Coq, and Eau de Fleurs du Cedrat, his illustrious predecessors and forebears had left an enduring legacy that demanded a modern update. So, setting out in that tradition of citrus and citrus aromatic colognes that can be sprayed on top of other Guerlain classics, Jean-Paul Guerlain created this and even dared to named it after the House - Eau de Guerlain. Bravery indeed! So what did he add to the canon? What we have is quite a clever perfume with a lot of notes that projects moderately for two to three hours before settling to a skin scent and lasting for a total of ten hours. On spraying initially you immediately think, lemon, mint and spices. It's far nicer than just smelling the top of the bottle in the department store would lead you to expect. Half an hour in many of the notes have come out to play: there's lemon, bergamot, lavender, fruity notes, caraway, sandalwood, hints of jasmine and carnation, mint and patchouli. It's really rather impressive. An hour later the mix has changed and you smell caraway, sandalwood, lavender, patchouli, a hint of bergamot, neroli and jasmine, and a little oakmoss. Again, it truly is an aromatic joy. Two hours later Eau de Guerlain has become a skin scent mostly comprised of moss, musk and a faint spice accord with a hint of herbs and florals that are very difficult to distinguish but the effect is warm and enjoyable. This is a superb piece of perfumery, a technical tour de force and with a soupcon of flair. I think it leans more masculine than unisex but I see no reason why both genders can't wear it. Like most of its genre, this one is best for the spring and summer but I think it would work well in autumn as well. Eau de Guerlain is an elegant perfume. It's a linen jacket and crisp white shirt rather than a baseball cap and T shirt fragrance.

Eau de Guerlain (9K01, Tester box, usd 50) I was so tired today, too many things spins in my mind. I need to unwind a bit. L’heaure beaue was my night time scent a few day. It is very addictive But it just not for my mood today. I have just received bottle of Eau de Guerlain (for short EdG) so I decided to tried something a bit more fresh and when I applied. It lifts my mood instantly and magically. To be best describe, it is open with top of lemon-green glass reminds me of lemongrass with a few floral support in less than 15 mins it is transiting to musky dominant with citrus nuance, floral and woody support reminds of soap. Sharp, soft and fresh. Even it has many note, all of scent transiting very fast. I own Dior Eau Frâchie for a while and I like to use in very hot day. It is refreshing and transparent, very enjoyable. This is kinda in the same vain. Citrus-Aromatic fragrance. I just wonder a bit about classic classification. Under Citrus-Aromatic the was another 2 sub class which is Colonge and Fresh Chypre. Construction wise, Oakmoss + Bergamot is Fresh Chypre and it much reminds me of thoese characters. However it might just depends on fragrance concentration, this had EdC which might actually in line with Les Colonges wise. I enjoy the scent nonetheless. Is "Citrusy Balsamic touch" from French Labdanum. If you can find that in scent, it is technically classified as Chypre.

Opens with a strong lemon note, supported by a noticeable basil note, and some mint. The lemon will then tone down a bit (without leaving the stage), to make some space for a fruity/musky/floral base, that will give an overall impression of "lemon candy". Shares strong similarities with the modern AA Bergamote Calabria, but where AA BC leans feminine (because of the candied ginger) and has a really poor performance, Eau de Guerlain is totally unisex, and has a decent performance (even if not stellar, as expected for an "Eau"). A great one, but probably not essential of you already own a couple of other citrus classics (Armani Eau pour Homme, AdP Colonia & co.) Still, I'm very happy with my purchase, but would suggest not to spend more than $50 on this one. A modest love for me. Ideal for hot summer days, 25+.

I love fragrantica because it's great to finaly identify the notes in favorite perfume but it also takes away some of the magic. I was not shocked at any of the notes here as they all made sence to what I was smelling but now I can't disassociate them from the fragrance. For inctance, there was always something dark and mysterious yet so familiar just behind the lemon. Not the mint but something I could taste. I realize now it was the caraway seeds. So I say "Oh yeah now I see!" and *POOF* magic all gone! I'll never again get that "what the hell is that exotic smell?" feeling now that I know it's just a common spice. I still like it and can now identify it in other scents. Next time l just won't look... yes I will. :-b

A classic cologne with a kick of spice and mint. The citrus is very bright and smells like the real thing. Projection is minimal after the first few minutes. Longevity is under 3 hours for me. Great as an evening pick-me-up after a hot day, a shower or before bed. I will reach for this scent in cold weather if I am overheated by my wife's preferred thermostat setting. Top tip: a couple of sprays on your pillow case on a warm night just before bed is lovely. UPDATE: I wore this today in quite warm(90° F), low humidity weather and it was still discernable as a close to skin scent when I showered after 6 1/2 hours, so longevity can be better than I am used to in the right situation, I guess.

I have been trying to decide if I want this or not, for decades. I must have tried this some 20 times in 20 years. In the past, I have loved it but decided not to buy it to buy something instead one or the other. Now I try it and it seems I quite do not love the top notes, the lemon too sharp and metallic, as much as I did. But the dry down, it is still incomparable. How can something so lemony and light have such a wonderful drydown - reminds me a bit of Chant d ́Arômes maybe. Still trying to decide if I like the new formulation topnotes that much...

In the mood for citrus :) This is really the fast and the furious... well the fast then. I love it but it is gone in a few minutes. What a shame for such a wonderful fragance. Ok let's go further in the search for the perfect lemon citrus scent. 2e test from a FB I think the first test from a sample came from a bad bottle. I am testing it again from a swap bottle and this is even so pretty as the first test. The best surprise is the moderate sillage and good longevity. Love it. Delicious semi sweet citrus with spices, totally unisex.

What can I say. Its sooo nice. Definitely slightly more masculine than feminine but not so much as to put me off wearing it. The initial spray of absolutely, stunningly gorgeous citruses is just wonderful - sadly those lovely lemony molecules fly away so soon. What is left is still gorgeous though, a slightly spicy cologne. Very timeless and fresh. I don’t pick up on the mint, instead I get citrus with basil and spices and subtle florals. This is classic Guerlain at its best.

Guerlain Eau De Guerlain (1974) - Citrus Chorus - #jeanpaulguerlain with his issues in the past, we shouldn’t forget he is truly a master perfumer. A “cologne” formulation is mainly some citrus extracts, petit grain, and a dab of white florals. How did he put all of the things I’m smelling and still remain light & fresh?!? Astounding. Spicy Caraway, Carnation, Rose, Patchouli, Mint, grounded by Sandalwood. Move over tom ford & acqua di parma- this is true value for money.

This is the first scent with mint that I've actually liked. Not loved enough to buy a bottle, but liked. Very fresh and clean. A good scent to refresh yourself with in the heat of summer. It seems very well balanced. I got an immediate burst of citrus then it settled down right away into something that's light and not overpowering in any direction.

Now That What I call a Masterpiece ! I wouldn't call it " a classic " per " scent " . It's a citric aromatic aura . Such classy and complex fragrance which glows with simplicity . It has caracter and can be used in all seasons. It also develops on each person differently , adapting with style to one personality / gender / skin chemistry .
