La Petite Robe Noire Eau de Toilette Collector Edition

Je suis désolée! Okay, okay, I know...those of you who have read some of my other reviews on here are probably thinking "right, here goes that crotchety harridan again, ranting maniacally about how much she hates her latest scent purchase", but wait, this isn't going to be another vitriolic outpouring of demented ire. Not this time. No, this is more of a subdued lament. A tinge of sadness at what I had assumed was going to be a guaranteed love-match...only to be left feeling somewhat unfulfilled. I was supposed to love this perfume; alas upon purchasing it, I merely platonically like it. On paper LPRN had everything going for it. A sweet & sour juicy cherry & almond fragrance by Guerlain. Cherry is my favourite flavour of beverage, my favourite fruit and one of my favourite scent notes. I went on a bit of a fragrance buying mission this past week, purchasing 7 full size bottles, 13 samples and 3 miniatures of various different fragrance, along with one half full used bottle of LPRN. I remember when I was in store buying Mon Guerlain, briefly smelling LPRN and thinking I liked it enough to be a future purchase, but I'm guessing that I must have overwhelmed my olfactory senses at the time, because upon receiving it in the post yesterday I found it distinctly underwhelming. First off I sniffed the atomiser and detected some pleasant cherry notes, but when I sprayed it on my wrists it smelled alright, pleasant, but nothing special. It started off sour but quickly dried down to a very generic sweet, cherry-ish, lightly fruity smell that reminded me of the kind of fragrance you find in cheap body sprays and lotions from Superdrug. Okay. I like a lot of those cheaper scents; on days when you aren't in the mood for a noticeably interesting fragrance, but don't want to go totally unscented. I don't expect a perfume from Guerlain to be so...average...so, "meh". Don't get me wrong, this isn't an unpleasant fragrance. I just don't get any lush vibes or wow factor from it. Maybe I was expecting too much from it. Maybe I'd been spoiled by my recent acquisition of L'heure Bleue (yes I know they're completely different kettles of fish, but coming from the same house I probably just expected LPRN to have more oomph!) or maybe the Tom Ford Lost Cherry that had arrived the previous day had just totally ruined any other cherry fragrance for me, forever. Or maybe it's just another of those 'horses for courses' things. One chicks ultimate elixir is another's glorified Impulse body spray. It could be the body chemistry thing, because it certainly doesn't seem to hang around on me for long. I did think maybe I might have just become personally anosmic to it, after hammering my senses with a cornucopia of different fragrances the past few days, but I just sprayed it on myself again - very liberally - about 15 minutes ago, asked the man of the house what he thought and he said it wasn't very strong. Pleasant but nothing special. Which isn't really the reaction one wants from their SO, regarding a Guerlain fragrance. But at least I know it's not just me who was positively underwhelmed by it. Thankfully I didn't pay very much for it. It was on Ebay - a half used bottle - and I managed to pick it up for just under £10 in total (£6.50 for the perfume, £3.50 p&p) which I thought was a total bargain. Which it still is really, when you take into consideration the fact that it's definitely going to get used up and it's pleasant enough. I can't say I'd have been best pleased had I semi-blind-bought a brand new full bottle at full price. But it is what it is. And what it is...is...just alright.

24. october 2013 I have tested his one and the regular EDT and while they are indeed the same fragrances, my nose has detected a tiny difference in the opening. I am not sure if my nose or mnd is tricking me, however the opening of this collector edition is softer, slightly more powdery and more rosy, while the opening for regular one is more sour to my nose. But it just lasts for a very short while and if you're not searching for specific differences or similatities you most probably will never detect that tiny difference. Then it quickly turns into regular version of EDT which is full of sour cherry and green apple on my skin. The middle stage and drydown are identical. Springtime scent. P.S. i repeat that it might be the same as regular and am not 100% sure if the regular bottle just had top notes gone off already a bit or was it really bit different. In general, if that couple of minutes difference in the opening is left out, it is the same. I see that people has voted it as a wintertime night scent????!? Well, it most probably depends on the climate, but up here in northern european winter with a lot of days below zero degrees celsius outside i don't see it as a winter scent for nighttime at all. Almost the same as someone is using Escada fruit summer coctails while there is a lot of snow outside, at least weird. :) This is still more springtime fragrance for me, or summer one as well.

This seems like a refreshing white floral tea cherry summer scent - I can smell the EDP scent trying to break through as well as the Eau Fraiche in this perfume - this fragrance is the 'light' version of the entire Guerlain & LPRN rainbow of similar scents. Its nice, I think it would be great for summer but I like the Intense version to fill my LPRN needs. Viva La Cherry!

its exactly the same as the other edt its just this bottle has a different picture on it, thats all. no different scent it IS EXACTLY THE SAME
