Seems a silly idea, when we all know the IFRA banned and outlawed real natural ingredients, substituting chemical synthetics in all perfumes. NO synthetics are worth this price ! Guerlain must be really desperate, especially since they will also be offering their first Celebrity scent by Angelina Jolie called Mon Guerlain, in the spring this year. WOW ! Looks like Guerlain is trying hard to embrace both extreme ends of the consumer spectrum. Sad.

A 500ml sized limited and numbered edition crystal bottle with Quadrilobe stopper by Baccarat but without Guerlain's name on it would probably sell for over 5,000€ in today's market. As the bottle is decorated with a handmade mash of pheasant and goose feather by prize winning textile artist Janaïna Milheiro, it would probably add at least another 2,000€ to it. Although IFRA, did ban and restrict many natural ingredients, they also banned and restricted as many synthetic materials if not more. Among the ultra expensive naturals being used in high perfumery, many of them are still not banned/restricted such as Iris butter, Ambrette, Sandalwood, Ambergris, some floral absolutes/essential oils/CO2 extractions/tinctures/essences and more. Does this bottle worth 16,000€? I don't know as I have never tried the fragrance. Will I pay 16,000€ for a bottle of fragrance? I will not as I do not have the money. Do I love or dislike this fragrance? I don't know as I have never tried it. But if it does smell like New York by Guerlain, I will definitely love it. Will I dislike Guerlain because they made all those ultra expensive exclusive fragrances? Why should I as there are still plenty of affordable and great fragrances by Guerlain that I am in love with. Should I boycott Guerlain? I don't think I am silly enough to stop enjoying great fragrances by a house that also releases ultra expensive and limited fragrances that I can never afford or even try. I would not even do so if half of the fragrances by a house are trash while the other half are high quality fragrances. So why all the hates on something that is targeted to only very limited audience. I would be much more upset when a loaf of bread is selling for 10€ or more.

I don't get all the hate. If it's only 20 baccarat bottles that are made, then they are supposed to be pricey, it's not about the juice inside, it's more like a statement piece that is not destined to be for everyone and affordable. Luxery is not for everyone, it's for those who can easily pay € 1600 without thinking for a whim. So how is it different than Mariah Carey's 30 carat diamond ring when all the rest of girls mostly have half a carat engagement rings? Should we all boycott jewelry houses if we don't have money? Really.

Where is My Exclusive Collecion? It's really high time for a different Guerlain.

Can ANY perfume actually be worth this much no matter the scent? NO
