Mademoiselle Guerlain

I smelled this in Epcot's Guerlain boutique in 2011 when it was La Petite Robe Noir 2. It was love at first sniff, but as a broke grad student I couldn't justify the price tag (hah, if only I'd known what it would cost in its current incarnation, I may have been a bit more motivated). I knew I wouldn't be able to find it once I left as it was a European release, but the memory of the scent stuck with me. Early 2015 I smelled it on a client and immediately accosted her; yes, it was La Petite Robe Noir 2. I'm ashamed to say I didn't quite believe it could be true at first, and pointed out that I was under the impression it was only available in Europe (well, and Epcot); she'd purchased a bottle while in France. Imagine my surprise that I recognized it all these years later. It was a scent that had stuck with me, and I realized I'd never been able to let go of the fact that I hadn't just bought a bottle. I tried the new version of La Petite Robe Noir 2, tried the original La Petite Robe Noir, and decided this really was the only part of that line I'd ever cared for. After some research I learned that it had been re-released as Mademoiselle Guerlain, and I ordered a small decant. This is the scent I remember. Opens powdery and sweet with a hint of soapy-citrus coming through. I can smell the iris, but it shares the spotlight with the marshmallowy quality. After a bit, it mellows out into a lovely iris-spun sugar-vanilla scent. I can pick up the citrus, but it reads more like candied citrus peel in this context than what I traditionally think of as a citrus note. It all comes together with an impression of that signature Guerlain powdery note that I smell in Insolence and Mitsouko (and many of their other scents that I am less familiar with), though it isn't the most prominent part of the composition. It has a creamy, buttery quality that make this scent a joy to spend the day with. It feels well rounded. Insolence has been my signature scent for years, and it is this rounded, balanced quality in Mademoiselle Guerlain that I feel Insolence lacks, and has been my biggest complaint with that scent. However, I think fans of Insolence will find a lot to love in Mademoiselle Guerlain; they do not smell alike, but could be cousins. My only criticism of Mademoiselle Guerlain is that it lacks the impact and nuance that would make this a truly great scent; however, the flip side is that this scent is somewhat easier to wear than its more complicated counterparts. This feels bright, sparkling, and feminine, sweet without going into the heady gourmand territory where many modern popular fragrances reside; however, it isn't a powerful statement. It doesn't offer startling new discoveries with each whiff, and on my skin, it simply fades after a few hours, finishing on a candied lemon/ marshmallow note rather than developing and shifting before its departure. I wouldn't call this uncomplicated, but it certainly isn't a chameleon that grows and changes with time. The scent lingers close to the skin, rather than making its presence known. If you wear scent to make a loud statement when you enter a room, this may not be your cup of tea. That being said, this is a great fit for my personality and what I want in an everyday scent. It is definitely near the top of my "want" list, and the more I wear it, the closer to the top it gets. I love smelling it.

Like diving into a pool of marshmallows while wearing a floral green perfume. Actually, it smells like a cleaned up, sweetened and modernized Miss Dior to me. (The original one from 1947). Not so surprising really, as you can see they share quite a few notes such as galbanum, violet leaf, leather and citrus. This is my cup of tea for sure. It smells so wonderfully "retro" in a way! Mademoiselle Guerlain is a sweeter, more "fresh green" and white floral type of fragrance, whereas Miss Dior has more patchouli and kind of a "dusty", herbal feel. (In a really good way though)! This is kida like the perfect marriage between Miss Dior and Diorissimo + marshmallow/cotton candy. (I swear I smell some lily of the valley, but maybe it's just the orange blossom that tricks me)? As it dries down, the typical Guerlain iris and sweetness (marshmallow and vanilla) slowly start turning this into a more recognizable Guerlain. Although I must say, this still smells very "Dior" for being a Guerlain, and those sweet notes remain very faint. Finally a modern release that's actually interesting! Totally different from all the other new scents out there today! The color of the bottle is way off to me though, as I don't smell anything "pink" in this scent. The marshmallows are barely detectable to me, and if I didn't know that this note was part of the composition, I would never have guessed. I mostly smell green notes, citrus, leather and withe flowers which I associate more with green or yellow. Oh well, it's still marvelous. I LOVE! Edit: OK, so those were only my initial impressions. However, skipping a couple of months ahead and now that I've actually worn it a few times, I must say (though I still like it just the same), the marshmallow note is actually MUCH more present than I first realized. The fragrance gets progressively more sweet as it develops. The green floral opening ends up smelling more and more like marshmallows/candyfloss/gumballs. Very sunny, optimistic and "youthful" in a way. Kinda like a combo of classic, sophisticated floral perfume + green gumballs..! It is actually rather lovely!

OMGG Listen Mademoiselle Guerlain is one of my fav from Guerlain!!!! I really like the contrast between the bitterness from galbanum, the sweet powdery gourmand accord in the middle notes and the Guerlain DNA vanilla plus a slight leathery touch at the end! damn this is a masterpiece!!!!! Just got a compliment by a tea lady in my office, we dont usually talk or complimenting on each other (I am living in Hong Kong) which is kinda weird if you say someone smells good hahhaha. But the tea lady just literally keep on saying my fragrance smells good it is really good, I was quite shocked because we dont usually talk that much lol, it must smells really that keeps her complimenting on my fragrance !!! This fragrance is actually quite unisex, guys please also try this on your skin! If you like green fragrances/galbanum you will like this, I do enjoy wearing Chanel N19 being one of my fav fragrance of all time! You can wear this at all time all seasons super versatile, sadly if got discontinued by Guerlain, please stop discontinuing so many amazing fragrances Guerlain...

Happy Easter! Today is Easter Sunday and Mademoiselle Guerlain is a perfect Easter and Spring scent! Picture a beautiful Easter basket with a bouquet of fresh cut stems laid across it. The green stems were just cut and fill the air mingled with the meadow flowers. You put the flowers in a vase & the green starts to subside while the flowers waft in the background. Then you notice the sweet marshmallowy scent of the treats that were hidden under the flowers. They are hand made marshmallows scented with orange blossom and not cloying at all. Fluffy, light and wonderful, this is a grown up's Easter basket! The super green-ness lasts about 20 minutes and all but disappears into a sweet floral marshmallow cloud. I haven't liked marshmallow in any other perfume, but it's so nice here. Wears very soft & close. I don't smell leather, or anything "masculine", just some resin to ground it. Lasts several hours. I love this, but trying to decide if it's worth the $$$$

You have to like galbanum and not the usual dreck of produced in the last 10 years. And you can't be afraid of green perfumes. It's a beautiful composition that's powdery, sweet (but not the sugar bombs of today) and bitter. Opposites, like a really great meal that takes all your tastebuds to appreciate. Just bc it has marshmallow as a note doesn't mean it's a dessert scent. It adds some whimsy to an otherwise sophisticated floral (maybe even a touch aromatic) perfume. I hate what's been done to the Guerlain house, gutted. It's a ghetto now, no sense of history. No whimsy. Just a bunch of perfumes that end with ambroxan. Does it sell? Maybe, but they keep having to introduce more and more new chemical bombs that appeal to a certain group of people. They all start with the scent of amber or hairspray or end with the scent of amber or hairspray. All in the name of longer, louder, sweeter!

I was looking for a fluffy and sweet green powdery scent... this is it. The opening is bitter green- for a moment or two I thought I made a big mistake spraying this onto my skin.... but then it transforms into something wonderful! Sweetness creeps in- bright sweet citrus, some iris... and something sweet like easter candy (it really does have a jelly bean vibe for a few minutes at one point).... eventually this melange becomes discernable- iris and marshmallow over a bed of green violet leaves and a kiss of bergamot. The marshmallow stands out more as the scent wears on, becoming very powdery and sweet, with a layer of orange blossomy musk layered beneath. The final dry down is sweet, powdery, vanillic white musk. Easily in my top 5 of all time. A unique sweet green that wears so well.

I find that many perfumes with a contraposition of notes work best and I love sweet perfumes, but I prefer when they have something tart, herbal or spicy to create contrast. Here the galbanum and violet leaf cut through the sweet marshmallow and orange blossom. Crisp galbanum at the start, quickly getting sweeter further towards the dry down into fluffy marshmallows. It is overall a sweet perfume, but not cloying thanks to the green herbal notes. This is right now my favourite in the Les Parisiennes. I have decanted some into a small atomiser, (the bee bottles are gorgeous but I don’t want any evaporation from the bulb atomizer) but find myself reaching for the bottle and smelling the cap I like it so much. An easy reach and work appropriate too. Glad I got this.

This was my SOTD today, and boy on boy this is beautifully crafted! This opens up with a very spicy and green herbal tone due to the galbanum which might put some people off, tho give it few seconds It'll fade away super quick! And then a fluffy delectable nuiance starts to envelope which reminds me of marshmallows smothered with some sort of a fantasy powdery orange blossom jam. The musk ketone used here as a fixative works really well complimenting the sweeter elements which keeps it away from making it smell cloying. I can imagine an innocent lady, wandering around, exploring nature and getting mesmerized by the art that we are put upto, that is this pale blue dot, our earth. 10/10

Coming back to review this 11 years later and it is still my go-to fragrance to welcome Springtime. This is what I loved about this era of Guerlain. Mr. Wasser in his element blending unique, artistic, magic potions that weren’t necessarily going to appeal to the masses. Mademoiselle Guerlain is the reawakening of the earth; optimistic, fresh, blooming, subtle. Spring rains and fresh greenness with sweet orange blossom breezes. Add some powder and I’m hooked! Underneath is a warmth keeping it from being too one-dimensional. I feel fortunate to still have this in my collection and love that it has become a ritual of welcoming the new season.

Mademoiselle Guerlain opens on me with just leather and a little floral. At first I'm not sure about it. Mid-way through the citrus and sweetness of marshmellow kicks in but it's not tooth-achingly sweet. It's perfect. By the time the beautiful powder and leather dry down happened, I was already smitten with this scent. The leather is soft and almost buttery. It reminds me of fine italian leather captured in a scent. Mademoiselle Guerlain. I would have named this Leather & Lace, or Cuir et Dentelle. The name seems a little stuffy to me for this fun scent! I can't wait to own a bottle!

Currently it is late fall/almost winter. The first test was amazing! I love the freshness of it....the iris and green notes I get from the violet leaf are going to be phenomenal in spring/summer. Cannot wait to try it again when the warmer temps come around. I think this will be even more amazing :o) Lower sillage than I would like, but I truly think the warmer temps will change that dramatically!

Wow.....I just got this and I’m in LOVE. It will transport you to a magical green meadow filled with flowers and sweet fluffy pink marshmallows......it starts out very green but quickly morphs into a sweet confection of pink marshmallows and flowers. This is soft and very feminine, no sharp edges here. Try it if you like whimsical, soft, sweet fragrances made of the finest natural ingredients!

I've been hunting for the perfect orange flower perfume - 'perfect' as in different from Fleurs d'Oranger (S Lutens) which I simply could not stand. Mademoiselle Guerlain is green, fresh, but also sweet, and the orange flower ads to the development of the perfume. Great lasting power, lovely bottle... I feel I've hit the jackpot with this one, if only the price were not so high.

I must be sincere, the rosy bottle and the ribbon and also the name... that is absolutely not the type of magic that works on me! I try it, just for curiosity. I LOVE IT! The combination of the green notes on the top with the delicate heart of 'guimauve' is subtle, feminine without being sweet and too 'girly'. really beautiful and surprising!

I love this fragrance! The galbanum is fantastic. Along with a violet/ iris lipstick accord with a tart powdery cherry which circles back to its lprn roots. It reminds me so much of lipstick on. Mt only complaint is it doesn't project for long. I regret selling my bottle. Please sell me yours if you dislike it. EBay prices are insane

Mademoiselle Guerlain is a pretty, feminine scent, much cleverer than it seems. I received a small decant with an order, and am very pleasantly surprised - much as I love Guerlain, it is primarily their vintage scents that I am interested in. I expected a simple, sweet scent to match the pink liquid and name. Instead, MG is unusual - it is a rare example of galbanum made pretty and youthful. As a lover of green scents, I love a verdant, foresty galbanum note, but its use here is refreshing, even groundbreaking. MG opens with the aforementioned galbanum note, lush and green, bolstered by sweet mandarin which gives way to orange blossom. A beautiful violet-iris accord emerges, powdery and sweet, remininscent of Parma Violets. Marshmallow adds a soft, light, powdery sweetness. It is undeniably sweet, but much more pleasant and interesting than syrupy vanilla. The galbanum balances it out perfectly, providing a nice herbal counterpoint to the sweetness, before fading. As it dries down, a buttery leather note emerges - a seamless transition while being an unexpected addition to MG. It adds a nice edge. A twist of soft vanilla adds restrained sweetness, complementing the other notes perfectly in typical Guerlain style. It fades to a musky vanilla skin scent after a little while, with remnants of leather. Sillage and longevity are moderate. Despite featuring notes that seem discordant on paper, MG is a cohesive, masterfully crafted scent, showcasing M. Wasser's creativity. Not just for girls - this is a scent for people of all ages, and is an easy, transeasonal daytime scent. A pity it seems to be discontinued. Really impressive work. 4/5.

Mademoiselle Guerlain looks gentle at first glance, but the fragrance itself is more complex than the appearance suggests. The pink liquid and the name make it easy to assume it will be a simple sweet perfume, yet it is not. On skin, the opening is dominated by galbanum. It feels fresh and energetic rather than sharply green, with a vivid leafy quality. For those who enjoy green notes, the opening is particularly appealing. The sweetness comes from citrus, but only as a brief brightness before moving quickly toward orange blossom. In the heart, violet and iris appear. The texture becomes powdery and soft, reminiscent of Parma violets. The marshmallow note provides a light, airy sweetness rather than the heavier sweetness of vanilla. Overall the fragrance is sweet, but the galbanum remains underneath, keeping the sweetness fresh and gradually softening it. In the drydown, a surprisingly elegant leather nuance emerges. The transition is natural but unexpected. Vanilla then appears briefly, adding a restrained sweetness before fading again. What remains is a skin-like base of musk and vanilla with a faint trace of leather. Longevity and projection both sit in a comfortable range. Looking only at the note list, the combination might not seem obvious, but when smelled it feels very coherent and well composed. Despite the name “Mademoiselle,” it does not feel strongly gendered.

True modern version of a chypre. This is mostly about iris and galbanum but the marshmallow rounds it out and gives it a soft gourmand kick. It still smells ultra classy and tasteful though. Really love this one. And the bottle is soooo pretty.

I’d wear this to the office or shopping. It’s a daytime scent for modern women. It’s a bit too superficial for me, it lacks the depth I expect from Guerlain. It’s a shame, because I didn’t blind buy and actually liked the sample, but after getting a whole bottle, I’m not in love at all. This has been sitting on my desk for 2 years, almost untouched. It’s very basic and ordinary, although, it’s a tolerable non-exclusive scent, if that makes sense. I could see this working on 80% of women but there’s no personality or anything memorable about it.

Unfortunately this one did not work on my skin. The galbanum note was too green and made me feel nauseous. If they amped up on the marshmallow and vanilla in this perfume I think I would have enjoyed this a lot more. 7/10

Very chaotic fragrance. I don’t really understand the intention here. It almost feels as if it’s a flavoured medicine, the marshmallow a poor attempt to mask the bitter galbanum but only makes the concoction taste worse.

I just got my sample. I like it very much. It does not remind me of Love by Kilian which is so very gourmand and very sweet (which I own and love). This almost has a clean laundry opening. I swear I smell old fashioned (1960's) red lipstick a few minutes later. I only have a sample that is not a spray, so I feel with a spray I could unravel this more. My wrist ate it up pretty quick. I will edit more later. So far as the few dabs, I am betting I am going to like this, not love. That lipstick note I do adore! Also, there is a hint of that Guerlinade in there as well. To be continued..... NOTE TO ALL GUERLAINISTA'S: MUST FIND..... Awaiting my bottle, yes, I love it that much! The dry down is fabulous, you must wait for it. The wait is worth it. This is what I imagine Keira Knightley to smell like. Did you see her at the awards the other night, she probably had on Chanel, lol. But she has a beauty to her that reminds me of this.

Such a beautiful scent! It’s proper, but relaxed at the same time. The opening is fresh and distinctly green with a touch of soft, powdery iris in the background. Marshmallow powder and vanilla follow soon after and aren't overly sweet - just enough to smooth out the opening and provide a softness that finishes this scent beautifully. All the notes complement each other so well and effortlessly...it doesn't have to try hard to shine. It's gorgeous year-round but it absolutely blooms when the weather is starting to warm up - it's my perfect spring scent. I have to be mindful not to overspray...for all its pinkness this scent is quite potent and long-lasting.

On me this fragrance started out very very sweet, but as it dried down it became an extremely sophisticated scent, it reminds me of la petite robe noire, without the cherries, with a hint of sweetness, and somehow the bergamot much more present. I was expecting it to be more of a young, playful scent, but it's not. I'd say the appropriate range would be 40 and up. Note: the lady that tried this on me rubbed the perfume with the cap of the bottle because they didn't have a proper applicator. I will probably order a sample off eBay and see if the perfume changes.

I get many comliments on this one to the point where it gets annoying. An amazing comliment getter! It's sweet, floral, and powdery fresh. It reminds me of a lotion I got from BBW but I can't remember the name. My mom keeps stealing this perfume from me! This is the kind of perfume I would recommend to anyone, but it is the kind of perfume that you either will like or hate so try it out first

Where is the almonds note! it's almond and marshmallows or s'mores. It has that delicate powdery that is presented by iris, and galbanum with the help of violets. You might not like the top note and the first spray but when it calms it goes deep and sensual.

Green and slightly floral with lots of marshmallows, average lasting power and sillage. Not what I was expecting, probably won't spring for this one. Reminds me of Love By Kilian. The bottle is very cute.

Guerlain's answer for dior miss dior cherie, it's still not available as long as I know, at least not where I live but in Dubai I think it's available at paris gallery.

Wish I loved this but all I smell is cilantro/green onions :(

Smells like grandma in a nostalgic way! I wouldn't wear it .
