Meteorites

I love this fragrance so much and it's impossible to find. The Meteorites le parfum version a few years ago did nothing for me. I hope this review does not get removed, but if I'm violating any policies, I understand. I recently bought a "clone" of the original Meteorites on a website called Scentmatchers.com. I am not affiliated with the company in any way shape or form, and, so far, Meteorites is the only purchase I've made from them. I am really, really happy with my purchase. This captures the warmth and sweetness of the original Meteorites and it never becomes a run-of-the-mill violet soliflore. I got a 3.4 oz bottle of a fragrance that is as close to my beloved Meteorites as it could be, without being the actual Guerlain. This definitely connotes the scent of Guerlain Meteorites powder and foundation.

I’ve yet to try the newer version, but this vintage version smells EXACTLY like the real Guerlain Météorites powder balls, how they smell to this day! So, if you’ve ever smelled those and want their EXACT scent, do not hesitate to seek out and purchase this vintage beauty. This literally is the exact météorites fragrance, just bottled into a perfume. I absolutely love it!!! If you HAVEN’T smelled the cosmetic product, other perfumes that are similar to this are dsquared2 she wood and Chanel Misia. If you like those you will almost certainly love this. The bottle is also gorgeous!!! So retro-cute vintage glam, LOVE it. But does anyone know if it ever came in a size larger than 30ml? I did a little bit of digging and could not find any, but that doesn’t mean they *never* existed, so does anyone know?

Surprisingly pleasant and well-balanced violet! There is a hit of somewhat jammy mostly citrusy fruit and florals at the top and it segues into a straightforward violet. This violet balances the candied and green overtones of the flower quite well. While I don't think it's super heavy on the Guerlinade exactly, there is a creamy, musky, lightly vanillic drydown that rounds off the sharp edges and definitely gives an overall "Guerlainish" profile to this. Most people would associate the mildly soapy, wonderfully creamy floral with feminine scent products, but I think it's balanced nicely with the greenness of violet. Light but persistent, I can't help but think it would be really amazing as an extrait.

I hunted this down like I had a pack of hounds with me. My daughter went nuts over this smell. Oh yeah, found a bottle. She loves it. Kinda weird because it does smell like how I remember my grandmother smelling. (Besides her beloved Tabu). So my daughter smells like my grandmother. I guess the circle is complete now. It is very nice, I will admit! I get the same burst when I apply my meteorites, but love to wear a whole host of others, so for a fragrance, I wouldn't choose it. You can't really go wrong with Guerlain. If it works with your chemistry, you'll probably smell the best you ever have in your life! I love this House!

We who loved meteorites were exctatic to find out Guerlain decided to make perfume after meteorite's scent! It wasn't a true perfume, but a fun way to intensify the fragrance of meteorite blushing pearls. So the fact is: Meteorites was rather simple perfume and was rather refreshing at the time. Strong powerful "late eighties fragrances" reigned the market. This was a flirty feminine unpretentious scent, yet more interesting when compared to early nineties unisex citrus splashes... I would still wear it if it was available. However I have no problem wearing Duet instead! :)

I fell in love with this scent when first discovered in the Guerlain beauty products of this line. Loved the scent and treasured it - I can only name the scent "ethereal violet". It felt like a violet fallen from the stars (meteorites, anyone?). Not too sad that it was discontinued, especially since I've gathered some other lovely violet scents in my collection. Still enjoying this smell in the Meteorites facial primer, though :) Longevity was rather mild but the sillage was a bit more than moderate.

Yes yes yes, the best attempt for me on iris/violet/powder combinations...simply addictive...it has naturally the Guerlain like "Guerlinade" which means you can identify each and every Guerlain in the drydown by that undescribable Guerlain touch..for me it means you can blow it to live even after hours and hours with one hot breath and the quality of Guerlain will fondle your nose..incrediable! and sadly:discontinued!..grab your self a bottle if you can! A must have for violet/iris addicts as me..

I've just received this discontinued Guerlain...I'm so happy! On my skin, it isn't a simple and linear violet fragrance... I can smell very well the heliotrope, that becomes gradually more and more prominent!The base is very powdery, but still flowery. I think it's perfect, mostly in spring, for those who love the sweet, powdery and a little old fashionated fragrances! It is a little similar to Bulgari Pour femme, which I also love!

One of the two Guerlains I most desire to own full bottles of. I've tried this on many occasions and gone through many decants. As far as violet scents go, this and Apres l'Ondee are true perfection. It lasts at least 6 hours on me and is perfectly powdery. Does it emulate the smell of Les Meteorites? To my nose, yes! Quite simple, but its not meant to be complex. All ticks in my book

The top notes remind me very much of Penhaligon's Violetta, but they both develop rather differently. Violetta is geranium spicy, but Meteorites is far more gentle and remains lightly floral and powdery. It's a sweet, simple, summery gorgeous pure scent. It just misses being cloying by virtue of the green notes which keep it fresh.

For some reason, my Great-Auntie got me this when I was kid and I loved it. It smelled exactly like parma violets and face powder, and I used to adore it. I have a tiny little bottle left which I covet, and desperately want more of. I really hope that this comes back, or I can find something similar.

simple,clean..the violet note stays for long.

well i was expecting a sweetish powdery green violet! you can't blame me, from looking at those notes. this smells like a set of pricey violet/lily of the valley hand cream and matching liquid soap. I know it was never supposed to be a complex scent, it was supposed to mirror the smell of the Meteorites makeup and mirror them it probably does. i don't get powder. it isn't particularly green so much, as a bit castille liquid soap up the nostrils. ??? i got a teensy bit of heliotrope at the beginning. where is the powder, the iris, the heliotrope? the notes don't match the scent, not to my nose. will retest this when i don't have lingering Misia on my jumper, from this morning. the beginning was the best bit. beautiful lively violets! you can absolutely tell this came out the exact year as Mahora. it has the same Guerlain 2000 vibe. But to me, it doesn't remind me much of a Guerlain perfume, not really. i might even say that it is old-fashioned in a way that will never say vintage. Vintage is good. Old-fashioned is just, not very wearable. Sad face. P.S. it does not smell like annick goutal la violette.

Meteorites is so far the best pure violet fragrance I've tried, but to appreciate it you must like powder. Meteorites is all about powder. The violet is very pronounced and supported by another favourite flower I have: heliotrope. In all it is a very beautiful cut out quarter from the L'Heure Bleue cake and is also similar to Apres L'Ondee, two of the most romantic and wonderful fragrances ever made in my humble opinion. However, the big difference is that Meteorites has no edge. Where LHB and Apres has anis and spicy carnation, Meteorites goes on and on with more violet and powdery iris. That doesn't mean it's bad (it IS really lovely) but it's rather a cuddly comfort scent than something I would wear a night out. Among the violets I've tried I would still choose Insolence edp for a night out, so I guess I'll have to get a bottle of that as well.

I had dismissed METEORITES early on as a sort of joke: GUERLAIN clearly needed to put out a new scent, so they decided to launch one already on hand, used to scent a collection of products in one of their cosmetic lines! Today, however, although it is indeed true that this is no more and no less than the scent used to fragrance the colorful powdery eponymous spheres used to highlight one's face with a shimmering glow, I am liking METEORITES, edt. It seems powdery and complex and upon spritzing evoked immediate albeit vague memories of BULGARI pour FEMME. METEORITES is a safe, comfortable, gentle and powdery scent along the same general lines as ALLURE. Eminently wearable, a scent that is friendly, not profound. A comfort scent. I wonder whether GUERLAIN also bottled the scent of their lipsticks? That would be nice...

This speaks to a much older time than the year 2000. There are no woods listed, but woods dominate. There is a tonne of violet, and very little sweetness. Soft, classy fragrance. The merest touch of green. Expert perfumery. There is a slight tart sweetness that emerges as it dries down. It is unwearable for me however much I appreciate it. It has none of the soft sweet nature of iris I was hoping for, except for right at the end. My tastes are too corrupted by the current sweetness on the market today. Beautiful bottle. It is discontinued however so I shall hold on to it and hope to make lots of money off of it from a fellow collector. (How mercenary I am heehee!)

This is a lovely green violet with a plasticy edge. I didn't know what to expect of it, being Guerlain, but I did think it would have some elements of Guerlainade. Unfortunately I was wrong. I do like this but it's atypical of Guerlain to me. In fact I find it very similar to L'Artisan Violette Vert, although Meteorites has a little more powder in the base and is slightly more complex. Meteorites also has greater longevity than VV, although it doesn't last on me more than 2 - 3 hours. I'm glad I satisfied my curiosity by trying this one. Not sure if it will be a go-to fragrance for me, but it is a lovely, quiet scent.

I expected more out of a retired, hard-to-find Guerlain. I expected more iris. The iris just lends the soft, powdery feel to the scent. This is straight-up violet. Soft, powdery, slightly sweet violet. A skin scent that lasts a couple hours then is gone.

If you do not want to cough up the high cost for an EDT of this lovely fragrance, consider the home fragrance, there are plenty of 100ml bottles online for cheap and despite the name it still wears on the skin nicely!

I really smell Lily of the Valley..a touch of Lilac and sweet violets, its somehow creamy, poswdery, green and fresh all at once. Its a delightful soft, clean and gentle fragrance. It too reminds me of Violette Verte.
