Petit Guerlain (In Blue)

I unfortunately don't know how the original Petit Guerlain compares to this since I was pretty "petit" myself when that one came out! I was four years old back then, I'm TWENTYfour now. Not so "petit" anymore I guess.. LOL! One good thing about getting older though - experiencing perfumes!! Okay.. enough with the rambling, let's get on to the actual review! As I said, I don't know the old version, what I do know however, is that this new rendition sure is one beautiful, fluffy little scent! The perfect child's scent indeed! Wearing Petit Guerlain instantly makes me feel like a carefree kid again! The sky is bright blue, with big, white clouds and I don't have a single worry in life. Simply an unmatched feeling. The compostition of the notes makes Petit Guerlain smell so natural, so clean and oh so "carefree"! This is THE scent of clean, white clothes drying in the sunshine, if there ever was one. It's a very "yellow floral" type of scent, but done in such a light and comfortable, comforting way. The honey lends it just the tiniest smidge of a natural, warming sweetness. It's like resting in a field of mimosa and orange blossoms with bee hives nearby on a clear spring day. Adding the pistachio note was a really clever strike, since it actually smells like clean skin here! Just like that of a beautiful baby. The longevity might not be the best, but I wasn't exactly expecting it to be either. Considering the kind of scent this is however, I think it performs more than well enough, since I do get roughly six to eight hours of wear time. Sillage is pretty soft, but it works in this case. Petit Guerlain is exceptional, and it sure exceeded my expectations! Thank You Guerlain.

Petit Guerlain is the same in both bottles. Blue and pink are only for the preference of the buyer, the scent is exactly the same.

Petit Guerlain is a very pleasant fragrance, but I found it kind of weak on the sillage front. It doesn't really project at all on me and it sits super close to the skin. I also only got 5 hours of wear from it on me, which I guess isn't bad longevity but it's not great either. The scent profile itself is a very simple fragrance of orange blossom with a hint of mimosa and honey in the background. I can definitely see it being a perfume that a child could wear after having a bath and this fragrance being a great starter fragrance for a child. Despite the fact that it's in a bottle with a blue ribbon and a blue sticker on it, I could see it more as a fragrance for a little girl to wear personally, especially during the day in either spring or summer. I'd give this fragrance a 7/10. I know what to buy either of my nieces if either of them want a fragrance for their birthdays or for Christmas.

Beautiful soft sweet orange blossom with powdery nuances, low to medium projection and good longevity. I do get a sun shining feel from this fragrance. It’s cuddly and fluffy and while I like the vintage Petit Guerlain, the modern one is a bit more “clear skies, sunny day” whereas the vintage is a bit cloudy but sunny. The vintage is a touch more soapy (not shampoo soapy) and mimosa dominant. The modern is a bit sweeter and slightly green. If they were colors, the vintage is muted tones (maize or flax) and the modern is slighty brighter but pastel (butter yellow or canary)

I used to have the Petit Guerlain from 1994 and that was... just incredible. Light and fresh, of course (for les petits!), but also complex enough that I found it interesting and enjoyable to wear. This version is not like the original at all. This new Petit Guerlain is primarily a bright, clean, and fairly linear orange blossom. Any other notes are subtle and play a supportive role to the orange blossom. Good if you're just looking for a splash of clean orange blossom. Disappointing if you're looking for the original Petit Guerlain.
