Promenade des Anglais

So.. I love fig, violet and orris. It's a given I'd like this fragrance. In fact I love it! It is also a very sophisticated fragrance that I get loads of complimens for, however: I sepent my hard earned money on this beautiful bottle, and the smell is superbly lovely, it does not last very long on the skin at all. If I wear it I have to constantly re-apply. I have filled a smaller spray bottle with the juice to carry in my purse for the purpose.. If it was a cheaper fragrance I wouldn't mind, but for something this expensive I'd expect a bit more longevity. It is apparently a re-release of an Aqua Allegoria, but still, my other Allegorias last longer than this one. That being said, as I mentioned before, the scent is very lovely. On me I mostly smell the violet and fig, and some musk, and it is a perfect fragrance for summer evenings, or all of summer really. The bottle is a real treasure to have on your vanity as well. Very classic and sophisticated.

The Les Parisiennes collections has a variety of the widest kind. You have the 'Poison Girl' of the bunch with Baiser de Russie which I love, but find much too similar to a $99 EDP... and then you have the ones like this & Liu. Some of the classiest, distinctive things you could hope for. Just like a walk in a meadow by a forest. Violet leaf that rivals even the likes of 4160s Paradox and Ombre Leather. Deeply herbaceous and green. Neither innocent, nor 'come hither'. Probably one of the greenest non-lily of the valley 'cold femme fatale' scents I've smelt in a long time. Major love.

Like others in the Les Parisiennes collection, this is a very feminine and delicate. It starts out very green and fades to a beautifully powdery and naturally sweet violet leaf/fig scent. It's very smooth (no citrus detected on this girl), but sits very close to the skin. I wish this projected a little more, but I nonetheless can't get enough of it - it's a good one for those looking for that whimsical, fairytale fragrance.

This is a nice, unisex, "easy reach" fig scent that could work well in any situation. Fans of Prada's Infusion d'Iris series might find an aesthetic kinship with this scent. It has a similar soapy, sweet, fresh, yet substantial feel to it. Not that it smells *exactly* the same, by any means, but a similar genre. Of course, Promenade has a notable fig accord. It starts off with a blast of green and citrus--I can't really pick it out as "bergamot" per se, though I'm sure it's in there. The fruity, creamy fig note comes next. It's pleasant and has a balanced green/creamy thing going on. This segues into a nice powdery violet-vanilla-coumarin drydown which manages to not be too doughy or what have you. I never tried AA Figue Iris, but it's too bad that scent now is fetching high prices in the aftermarket. I would love a parfum version of this that emphasizes the iris/violet notes more and maybe adds a touch of animalism. It would make it more of an intriguing and niche wear.

Promenade des Anglais is a well-rounded, soft and elegant fig fragrance. The fig in here is green, also thanks to the violet leaf. The violet and heliotrope provide a nod to classic perfumery, maybe even to the early years of the Promenade des Anglais in Nice. Lovers of mimosa might also appreciate this perfume because its green powderiness is beautifully rendered. The fragrance is rather linear and has a lovely balance of green and powdery notes while never going sharp. Unfortunately, the sillage is weak, so that I can only enjoy wafts of the fragrance for around an hour. However, the longevity on clothes is still easily a whole day, but only from up close.

Orris Violetleaf, Violet, Heliotrope and Musk is what I get on my skin. A lovely scent indeed. A bit skinclose on me but a sexy teaser. If you love Orris -this one is worth trying. The Violet gives an airy freshness to it. Orris, violblad, viol, heliotrop och musk är vad jag känner på min hud. En ljuvlig doft faktiskt. Lite hudnära på mig och en sexig liten retsticka. Om du älskar Orris - prova den. Violen är luftig och ger en fin fräschhet.

I don’t really get fig nor violet. It smells like a slightly sweet milky powder. It’s light and airy, to the extent it comes of as almost unfinished due to lack of base/depth. Despite this I actually enjoy the scent, it smells kinda unique and works great as a summer/office perfume. Way overpriced though before it was discontinued.

Surprisingly zesty opening. The ozone smells like the alpes. I'm smelling quite a lot of green notes and subtle nondescript fruity notes that could be fig or fig milk. Overall a lovely summer fragrance that's different from others I've smelled from guerlain. -

Heliothrope makes me sick. I am Sorry Guerlain.

On a gloomy November morning this managed to put a smile on my face when nothing else did. It opens up like fresh, green, slightly metallic violet leaf and orris with a hint of citrus. I get a feelig of sparkly dust on my skin supported by sweet fruits reminiscent of a familiar candied violet (makeup/lipsticky note found in Insolence edp). Soon after I'm transported to the warm mediterranean coast holding a bouguet of honeyed, golden mimosa in one hand and a ripe fig freshly picked from a tree, with its bitter-sweet milky juice sticking to my fingers in the other. The sweetness is tampered my almost atonal green masculine note of vetiver and salty musc with a hint of vanillic-coconutty suntan lotion landing a natural warmth on the skin. The kind you get after a long walk on the sunny beach in late spring with fresh sea breeze in your hair. It's modern, relaxed but elegant with a ladylike Guerlain touch. Sheer but still substantial and distinct enough to become someones signature. Bravo Guerlain!

I'm wondering where the scent notes from this perfume came from, since the notes on Guerlain's website are identical to those in AA Figue-Iris and Guerlain itself confirmed that this fragrance is a more potent reissue of the AA. Old Herbacious's review pointed out that there is a mismatch between the notes that are listed here and the ones they personally experienced, leading me to wonder if Fragrantica's notes are accurate.

I don't know the AA Fig and Iris, but I tried Promenade des Anglais today from a sample and got a blast of vetiver. I like it very much, but vetiver isn't listed as a note for PdA, and it is for Fig and Iris. And I'm not smelling any of the floral notes listed here for PdA, which is disappointing, as they are why I wanted the sample.

I never cared for Guerlain classics to began with (I actually liked some of their newer stuff, but I generally viewed this house as unimpressive and a waste of its rich history)... After this fragrance and the fuzz between LVMH and Monsieur Guerlain, I'll just have to watch the ship sink as I enjoy fragrances from other houses

I love iris scents, and Promenade des Anglais is based on finest Iris Pallida, entwinned with white musk, delicious vanilla and gourmant fig...This beautiful mixture is lightened up with grapefruit, bergamot and vetiver. Another masterpiece from T Wasser!

Orris, violets, heliotrope, musk, and limes. Kind of similar to "Liu" by the same house and kind of interesting. Powdery and reminds me of my sister's essence allot. Soft and relaxing.

actually, by trying it longer, i really deeply fell in love with it. Beautiful very high quality fragrance!

Is this new release a reissue of the discontinued Aqua Allegoria "Fig & Iris"?

This is the exact same scent of Fig-Iris.
